I rang on Monday to ask them a question, and I've had no response, when I ring them now, there line is constant busy

I usually love The Crown and think it’s a great cultural space, but the staff really let it down. This man was verbally abusive to me and my friend. She tried to order a drink without knowing he was serving another customer. Straight away we got shouted and sweared at, he laughed at us and refused to serve us. When apologising and asking someone else to serve us, we were made to feel like it was our fault. He kept pointing at us to other staff members and laughing. We are bartenders ourselves and understand the struggle but he could have been nicer about it instead of mocking and laughing at us, which we didn’t do. It made me feel really uncomfortable and my friend ended up crying and wound up over it. Really poor customer service and in times like this you should respect customers instead of alienating them for no reason.

I came for the Tuesday quiz night and it was great fun. Questions weren't too niche/specific, there was prizes to be won and overall it was a nice friendly atmosphere. They were serving food but I didn't try it so can't comment although it looked good, I got a coke on draft which tasted more like sparkling water but it didn't affect my experience much. Definitely recommend for the quiz night!

The Crown might not be my usual go-to, but it certainly has its own character. I enjoyed the beer I had, and the staff and bouncers were all friendly and welcoming. While it may not be my personal favorite, it’s a good place to experience a bit of difference oh and opens till 3am which is wild!

I went to The Crown last night to support my friend’s DJ set, and it turned into one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The bouncer was completely on a power trip and falsely accused my friend of something he didn’t do. It was obvious she had no evidence and was just making it up as she went along. By the end of it, you could tell even she didn’t believe her own accusation but decided to dig her heels in anyway. It was ridiculous and completely uncalled for. The way this situation was handled was unprofessional and unfair, and it ruined the night for all of us. Avoid this place unless you enjoy dealing with unnecessary drama and staff with massive egos. Absolute dive bar!

I recently visited Crown, and it’s safe to say this place is an absolute treasure. Been here multiple times and every time the bouncers are horrible. Unnecessarily picking on people, throwing people out for things they haven’t even done. Don’t recommend going at all.

The Crown used to be a very lovely goth pub. Now it is extremely bland and my last couple of experiences there were just bad. They sold us a drink, only to abruptly, and very rudely kick everyone out a couple of minutes later. I think because they are mostly just targeting students' money, they don't care remotely about being respectful to their customers, or even the safety or wellbeing of the people they sell drinks to. If you run a pub, you should call "last orders" or "time at the bar", while giving people a vaguely reasonable amount of time to finish their drinks, before being kicked out onto the street. Otherwise it can lead to large numbers of people (many of whom are young women) being pressured to down their drinks and then have to make their way outside while all the booze goes into their system at once. As I mentioned, the bouncer was extremely disrespectful to us when suddenly telling everyone to leave, and talked to us more unpleasantly than I would actually talk to a dog. I am not exaggerating. The fact that extremely young adults are less likely to stick up for themselves, coupled with the promise of late hours (which was not even true), are the only reasons this place can carry on as it does. Bring back the nice goths!

If you are looking for a lively and modern place, this is not the place. But if the idea of ​​a traditional, unpretentious bar appeals to you, it could be a valid option.

I visit regularly to this place. But this is time Ms. Jess served me drink in a very friendly manner. I really appreciate her for the great hospitality. She is the crown for the crown.

A few drinks on a Sunday, and a bit of karaoke to boot. Lost my card somewhere but the super helpful bar people, and security made sure I'd cancelled it, and even got me a taxi home. Such a great pub.

Some of the rudest most awful bouncers here I’ve ever met on Saturday night, the way they conducted themselves is truly shameful, as long as the crown continues to employ these people I suggest avoiding this venue. Avoid the crown, spend your money elsewhere.

door guards were the worst i've met, made up an untrue story about why i wasn't allowed in. refused to listen and left me outside with the rest of my group having gone in.

Fui a la corona a tomar unas copas después de la cena y estaba horrorizado por la forma en que me trataban. Llegué después de un máximo de dos copas y estaba lejos de ser guapa, pero las guardias de seguridad rubias me trataron de una manera que describiría como acoso. Quería tal vez comprar una pinta y usar el baño y me negaron la entrada, como adulto esto fue insultante y humillante dado mi estado sobrio.

Student mad. Being outsiders, stepping into such a student affiliated pub/bar, this is exactly what you expect when you’re coming off of the main streets and spilling into the cobbled streets of Bristol. The Music was relevant and surprisingly good, having been to a few bars that were playing some absolute clangers! First time I got up and danced during our 2 day stay. It is a little run down, and clearly needs some renovation work, but depends what you like. Some would say this is a perfect, traditional English bar and you cannot argue with that. Food I don’t try, so my rating may be a little inaccurate, but what I did like is the fact they sold Pizza slices and fast food from a food heater on the bar. Great idea for business and to stop people getting paralytic. Bouncers in Bristol are friendly I’ve noticed. Most of them happy to help, willing to chat and very lenient and understanding that people are out to get drunk and be rowdy, so the security staff at the crown get an A star! Nice space to dance and socialise. If you’re looking for drinks.. after drinks, I’d certainly start with the Crown

It's an amazing venue, a great bar with really good variety, and has been a local hangout for me for years. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the downstairs it's an incredible venue, and I've had some of my best nights out down there, but recently, it's been really high entry fees to get in which makes it much less populated downstairs and really takes away from the vibes, I completely understand that this is to pay the artists properly but I feel like a percentage of the downstairs sales or something similar would be much more beneficial to the artists and the venue itself, regardless I think its a must see if you're coming to Bristol, and massive shout out to all the staff you guys are lovely.

Great atmosphere and a generally friendly and chilled vibe

Bar staff remember my drink order and consistently serve me with a smile. Last week I had a little conundrum as I had left my belongings in the establishment after closing time. The young dark haired lady went out of of her way to assist me in my darkest hour and wished me well on my journey. Should definitely get a pay rise and/or bonus. 10/10 experience would come back.

Not very full when we went so can't really comment on how the atmosphere is normally. Food (Sunday lunch) amazing and unbelievable for money. Great service.

Used to be a busy pub ,but hardly anyone in there

Went to this pub with some friends drinks incredibly overpriced. Went to get some air in the smokers area and then was told we weren’t allowed back in due to not having “a stamp” which was never offered to us on entry. Bouncers we’re cruel and purposely nasty to us two young girls just stuck outside in the rain while all our friends we’re still inside. No sympathy just nasty behaviour from grown adults will never be returning and would warn anyone to never go to this pub due to very very mean bouncers. I hope they are happy with themselves for ruining our night and ensuring we never go back to this pub!!!!

Awful security made everyone feel uncertain

I love it here and I have been coming here for 3 years, but today my friend got turned away for not having an English ID. She had a legitimate ID for another country but she go denied because it wasn't English. They also turned away the girl behind us for having a Mexican ID saying its new rules. With a city full of international students, this is very problematic and alienates international students. This needs to be addressed.

This pub is disgusting and should be shut down. Flies are literally everywhere, on the walls, in the toilets and flying around as you’re trying to have a drink. Avoid like the plague!!!

I was there Solo on a Tuesday, just about to go back to hostal when the weekly quiz was announced..........I then realized that was why loads of students and older were arriving........ As I'm in the older category I asked a group of 5 teens/twenties if they wanted me on their team and we came 2nd 🥈 4 of us ordered chicken wings, £5 ish garlic bread, macaroni cheese, cheesy chips 3 for £15, massive bowl of fries, 🍟 big round garlic bread, smooth creamy and delicious maccy cheese....... Chicken wings looked tiny next to others.

Okay for late night drinks. The one older doorman was really mean. Tried to kick me out for tapping on the window to get my friends attention. Pretty unnecessary. Most likely won't be back.

Great pub with good vibes and amazing food. I had a Sunday Roast there today and it was one of the best roasts I’ve had in Bristol! Very big portions and delicious food. I highly recommend trying it out. Staff was lovely. Would 100% recommend.

I recently visited The Crown Pub in St. Nicholas Market, Bristol, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of disappointing. My friends and I went there with hopes of having a good time, but unfortunately, that was not the case. We were enjoying our evening, before a rather unpleasant incident unfolded. We were all just sitting together, minding our own business. It was evident that there was some sort of issue, with the empty seats we had taken from another group and the matter was brought to the attention of the bar manager by a member of their group. What followed left us utterly dismayed. We were asked to leave the premises, and it was deeply disheartening to see our evening take such a turn. It felt like discrimination was at play as two of us are of Indian descent. This incident truly made us question the ethos and inclusivity of The Crown Pub. I believe that every establishment should strive to create a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons, regardless of their background. Sadly, this experience has made me rethink ever returning to The Crown Pub. Discrimination has no place in any setting, let alone a place that should be synonymous with good times and camaraderie. In light of my experience, I can only rate The Crown Pub with 1 star. It's a reflection of the disappointing encounter I had during what was meant to be an enjoyable evening out.

Was quiet when I went in about 5pm. Happy hour so cheap pint of Holstens Vier £3😊 Happy hour didn't seem to extend to St Austells Tribute £4.80 (18:06)! Beer was nice enough. Atmospheric place I'd imagine as gets busier. Doesn't take cash. I think places ought to take cash, shouldn't they? Would have given it 4* otherwise

I love this place - it’s a gem in the heart of Bristol and always a great atmosphere. They’ve just started doing roasts on a Sunday and I tried their 3D printed “beef” option - it was amazing, plus the best Yorkshire puddings everrrrrr.

Was a really great roast! Never had food here before but had the 3D printed plant based beef roast and it was delicious. Lovely chilled vibe in the day with good, well priced drinks and friendly staff.

Decent city centre boozer. Fairly priced booze. Great music. Friendly crowd. Annoyingly we were served drink in plastic glasses from 10.30 p.m. I felt no more inclined to assault somebody with a glass post 10.30 than I did pre 10.30.

Went here on a Sunday night for late drinks as a lot of other places had closed. They had a karaoke night and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The place was rough and ready in my opinion but I just went with it. The place was packed inside and outside. Although the bar was busy, i seemed to get served with little problem but I didn't like the plastic glasses but understood why they used them. It was open until 3am on a Sunday night!

Fun late night pub (was open till 3am on a Sunday night!) karaoke in one area. Only down side of it is the terrible plastic pint glasses. Very bad for the environment and as the evening got later the floor seemed to get wetter from the slopping of pint glasses.

Reasonably priced drinks compared to other places nearby. Good hang out spot for music, drinks are quick to get and some good people to chat to.

Good pub. This is one of the more traditional pubs in this area. Has a great team of staff & loads of different beers. Food is pizza & sides style with offers available. Leads to more the alternative/rock crowd.

Staff are very disappointing and rude too disabled people who were out drinking with friends ALSO THERE DOOR STAFF ALSO ARE VERY MUCH SELFISH RUDE TOO PUBLIC AND WON'T ALLOW YOU TOO WALK PAST THE PUB AFTER CLOSING TIMES EVEN THOUGH THE PATH IS A PUBLIC WALK WAY I SUGGEST THAT IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOURSELF

Really the only thing going for it is it's open late.

The staff here are ace, so friendly and cool. There's a relaxed attitude about them, but it doesn't seem to affect service. Nice selection of drinks as well; I love Mena Dhu but don't see it served in many places but The Crown had two or three of their brews available. Also decided to have a bite to eat here, the wings were delicious and the chips were perfectly cooked. Obviously it's a very central venue, so it can get a little crowded and rowdy later on in the evening, but it's not usually one of the more troublesome central pubs, as it's kind of tucked away from the main road.

I was ripped off by the rude staff my drink stuck to the bar and when i tried to pick it up it’s spilt the staff refused to give me another drink even though it’s wasn’t my fault that it spilt even the people next to me said it wasn’t my fault the service here is appalling and quite frankly they were rude i will never be coming back here as a student money is tight and making me pay again for another drink when the bar staff didn’t clean the bar properly in the first place it’s unacceptable.

Worst place I have ever gone in my life, I had Pizza slice 🍕 which they knew was cold and served me (in a argument they told me)and I was hungry I ate 1/4 and realised that it was not good and went directly asked the manager he told I have eaten a bit and they justified what they did was right, what I wanted was a sorry but instead they were rude and emotionally abusive. Will they have treated me this if I am not off colour person I don't know, I am not going to this place again. I ask others to boycott this place as they did not do justice to price for a slice of pizza they got which was 4 pounds and 95 pence and they quality was poor and staff were cruel, rude and emotional abusive to customer.I would not even give a single star but it allows me post if I select atleast 1 star.

Really old pub. Nearly 300 years old. You get used to the smell quite quickly, so don't leave straight away like some flies I spotted, trying to escape! The beer sticky flooring, that reminded me of my student days, was up hill and down dale. A small, tight, winding staircaae leads you up to the gents. An old fireplace oddly protrudes from the wall, perhaps evidence of an old converted room. No WiFi. Well, "there is staff WiFi but it's not public" said the cheery barman, not even looking up from his mobile phone( lose a star!) However, there is a really good range of drinks available. I opted for a great stout called, "mena dhu", that means 'black hill', in Cornish.

The pub had good vibes, but we were charged £8 for a medium (175ml) glass of wine, which lets be honest is quite frankly absurd.

I know it's an alternative pub, but it needs a deep clean. It smells like malt vinegar and rancid socks.

Main attraction was that it was open very late when most other pubs were closed.
