Booked 1 week in advance for late Sunday lunch, v small pub and very busy, extensive menu, we ate a mixture of the Sunday roasts and 2 children meals, all well presented, very tasty and huge portions so we couldn’t cope with a pud. Very friendly and buzzy atmosphere. It was an excellent meal, we will return.

Booked for Saturday lunch with family - 8 of us, between us we ordered 5 different main courses from both the brunch menus and the classic menu. Every meal came to the table hot, at the same time and every mouthful was so very tasty, clean plates all round and everyone raving about the food. We will be back!

Met friends for dinner here just before the easter weekend. Purely chosen on location as being the mid point with friends. Wow, what a find!!! my friend contacted them via facebook to book a table and get a copy of the menu ( definitely need to book in advance as they don't open for food everynight and they have limited covers) and said they were very efficient at replying and sorting the booking. For a Wednesday night this cute little pub was really busy and there was a great atmosphere. The young girl behind the bar was polite and efficient. The food was fabulous, nothing over fancy but I had the hallomi and veg skewers with a greek salad and dipping sauces. The portion size was immense, the salad was packed with "tasty bits" and the skewers and sauce were divine, I was stuffed but it was so good I just couldn't stop. My husband had the ribs, another great size portion and the meat was falling off the bone. DIdn't get a chance to try the puddings but would definitely go back to get the full experience. The landlady popped out at one point and was very pleasant and the waiting staff were also really polite and efficient. Great work team!!!

Best ribs I've ever had! Fell of the bone orgazmic with a sauce jizz worthy! Tasty range of local ales and larger. Including the usual classics. My friend enjoy a very healthy, larger portion of a delicious Cod a chip. Portions not to be shy about. Unfortunately didn't have room to enjoy the dessert menu. But starter of white bait was hefty and delectable. Finally finishing up with a tasty coffee with nit just one but two LOTUS biscuits. All for an incredibly cheap price for what we received. This is a lovely country pub and decorated really well.Very pleased to say it was also warm as it had been a chilly day.So many eating places are so cold you have to eat with your coat on! Do not return to those. There is not a huge menu choice but it had on it the two things we really like, steak pie for him and Thai chicken curry for me,the curry was hot but not too hot,it was actually a special and I really hope they make it a permanent dish, the portion size was on the large side which meant we didn’t have room for the sticky toffee pudding. Will definitely be booking again soon.

We visited the Crown on Friday evening for a family celebration. It was a chilly evening and our reserved table was under a canopy (which thankfully wasn't needed as the rain just about held off). The staff, landlady and landlord were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the service and ordering process was efficient and attentive. The menu was slightly limited (completely understandable in the circumstances) but it was all well cooked and very tasty. The beer too was very good. It was great to see the Crown open and busy, and we had a lovely evening. Thank you and we'll be back again soon :-)

Good choice of starters, some with a bit of a kick. No rush and we ambled into our main courses, such difficult decisions but 7 people ended up with 5 different choices. Fresh vegetables, hot plates, great taste, super value for money.Too full for desserts but tasty double espressos including s decaf option. We had an excellent evening at The Crown....for many reasons. We don’t know this area at all, and on the back of the reviews we decided to give The Crown a try. The food is lovely...we had garlic bread followed by steak and a mushroom stroganoff and a sticky toffee pudding. It was fresh, hot and tasty. Service was prompt, friendly. The space and environment was so nice..it was packed busy and there was such a nice friendly, lively atmosphere. Perhaps the thing that nailed it for us though, was the welcome. The description of this place now says The Crown Inn is a traditional country pub set in the heart of a beautiful Oxfordshire village, and up to that point all is true. The Crown Inn is now under new management, and what a shame that is because this place used to be fantastic (see my previous reviews) but it's now under mis-management. I've seen it before where budding hopefuls give up their former lives for the idyllic country pub lifestyle, this is what it felt like to me. on that fateful night when I visited with a party of five the car crash we experienced was unlike no other.

We had a meal in the pub last night. Disappointed by whole experience. We should have been a party of 10 but only 9 of us arrived. Just as well as there wouldn't have been enough space at the table! Attention by waiting staff wasn't great. I didn't even have a menu and had to share one. Starters were all fine. Main was disappointing. Lumpy, hard mashed potato and a lot of juice on my plate. One of my friends had a stroganoff which was served in two silver dishes with no room to mix the rice with the stroganoff. Desserts were also disappointing. Cheesecake served in a glass which doesn't work because you end up with the hard crumb base. I won't be returning anytime soon.

The food here is Excellent. Mother and I came for Sunday lunch and it was brilliant. That said, I am sorry to say that the dining experience was not what we would wish. A child was allowed to scream through lungs of leather the whole time. The waitress, who looked Frazzled was apologetic and tried to calm things down. I pitied the poor people nearer the noise than us. It ruined a nice day. I have Asperger Syndrome and sensory overload issues. The high-pitched furious roar and scream of a spoiled brat/Little Emperor is simply too much for me to cope with. I do realize families need to eat. But they did Nothing to calm the child.

We stopped off for a light lunch after a great 5m circular walk. The welcome and service were friendly and efficient. The ale was better than most of the pubs we have visited during our walks in the Chilterns and I chose with knowledge as the barman kindly offered a taste of what was on offer. My friends all enjoyed their sandwiches, which were quite expensive but did come with fries and salad. I very much enjoyed my minute steak (with similar accompaniments) but it was minute in more than one sense, about two thrids maybe of what is normally served and so not great value. We would definitely return..

It didn't disappoint - the food we chose was well presented and very tasty - all the items on the plate blended just right and were really nicely balanced meals. For us - the size of the main course and sweets were exactly what we wanted - not too much or too little. The Pub itself has a nice friendly relaxed atmosphere and still retains its typical village ambience which isn't easy to find these days. Had the pleasure of trying The Crown last night, after we had heard it had been renovated last year. We had often passed but never ventured in so we booked when family came down for a visit. (4 of us total)

Had a wonderful lunch for four adults. All three courses were excellent. So tasty. Steak perfectly cooked. Salmon delicious. Mediterranean vegetables so tasty. But it was the venison that got the most mmmmms of us all. My husband said it was the best venison he's had anywhere. It is his favourite and always orders it when in season. Lovely country pub in a picturesque village.

Very nicely appointed village pub. Food excellent. Service very good. Watch out for the low beams if you are tall!

My family and I had a brilliant time at Sydfest recently. The staff were all very friendly and inviting, the beers were well thought and and displayed in a fun way in the beautiful garden. We can't wait to come back and try to new menu - we will be back soon.

Absolutely fantastic - the music was amazing (especially Soulcem), food too (had seabass on the bbq) and a fabulous range of beers. We and our friends had a wonderful time :)

Perfect place for a perfectly super lunch. Myself and two friends had a relaxed meal hosted by Pippa and Will at this very comfortable pub. Food was delicious, especially the chocolate ganache pudding. Definitely recommend and will go there again.

This is a lovely country pub with a very convivial atmosphere. We had a Sunday roast and all three of us agreed that it was just the best roast dinner that we had in a restaurant for a long time. Very tasty, required no seasoning and beautifully cooked - tender pink beef and pork with crispy crackling served with perfect roast potatoes. The staff were all very friendly and efficient making the whole experience very pleasant. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a lovely 3 course meal on a Saturday night. We booked in advance but there were plenty of tables free if you wanted to walk in

Limited menu but original and innovative. Starters quite large and we shared two between three people. We all decided on salmon fish cakes for our main courses and agreed they were excellent, apart from the rather odd decision by the chef to add too many black and green olives. But overall very good.Staff attentive to the right degree and did a good job.

The crown is a proper little country pub and has become our local although we don't live in the village, good beer wine and gins and really good food. We went to the curry night bank holiday Sunday and the standard was excellent especially the amazing pudding so much better than the frozen rubbish you get offered at most Indian restaurants. Well worth a visit use it or lose it locals!

Booked a table but it was in the corner of the bar and very crowded with people drinking. Food was good but they did tell me the quiche was gluten free (which it wasn't when I asked about the pastry)

The quality of food was rather disappointing. Rump steaks were have ordered were literally burned to coal. Portions were also surprisingly small as for adults. Not to mention the length of awaiting for food. Generally nice place but some improvements would be very welcomed.

Our family went for burger and a pint night at the queens head. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Debbie and straight away I felt welcome thanks to her bubbly personality. The kids were shown the games and actually got on. Guinness was poured properly and left to settle making the perfect pint. The food was lovely with many options of smashed burgers and pizzas. We were told on arrival about a 45min wait for burgers, they were with us in half an hour and cooked to perfection We will deffo be going back. YNWA. Thankyou to all at the queens head ❤️
