We went to the Crown five times to eat during a 12 day trip to Cornwall. It was walking distance from where we were staying. We also just went for a drink on a couple of further occassions. I can't recommend it highly enough. Our hosts and their staff were delightful. The environment and atmosphere are great. We had lunch three times, which was beer and sandwiches. Gorgeous sandwiches (Prawn and Crab, Beef and Horsradish and Cheese) washed down with delicious Doom Bar ale! We had our evening meal once, which was excellent (their scallop starter blew away Rick Stein's cafe!!) and also one Sunday Dinner. The food was great all round and they also catered very well for my vegetarian wife. Lovely comfortable restaurant area, and great, measured service. Also very grateful that they confined the families with out of control kids to a particular area away from us during the Sunday Dinner. The weather was pretty dreadful for most of this holiday so The Crown was a welcome hostelry to adjourn to. Thanks to everyone there. Hopefully be back before too long.

Beautiful quiet pub situated in the sleepy heart of Lanlivery, frequent visitors but have just tried the Sunday lunch which was soft and tender beef which fell apart in my mouth. Usually very sceptical about roasts / caverys but this one is a complete exception and stands miles above any other I have ever tried. Great hospitality from Megan as always and nice to see the owner is so hands on in the pub and a friendly welcoming face. Crown inn I love you. Dillon

First time to the Crown Inn. Food was great, staff were friendly and prices reasonable. Loved the little touches throughout (flowers were beautiful!). Would be nice to visit in the winter for dinner...wood fires, candles and 3 course meals (plus you can book a room and stay over!). Highly recommend a visit.

I came across this beautiful, country inn when researching my ancestors in 2022. I came back two years on and it's one of the few things that hasn't changed in Cornwall in that time. Reliably excellent food and loads of historical details to explore and all set in the prettiest garden opposite a church. My only complaint was the cauliflower was undercooked and the cheese sauce bland. Otherwise really good value at £17 compared to £16 for a burger in a cardboard carton on Polzeath beach.

What a mixed evening at the crown To start with our table was perfect with the highchair as requested all ready there. When sat we were met with a young waiter who maybe lacked experience or new - when as what larger was on draft, he replied I don't know and just stood, whilst my wife check I was holding our young child. His attitude was like this throughout the service. The women who also served us was completely opposite very helpful and attentive. I wish she would been our server. My wife mentioned that her food was tasty, however she only had a couple of stems of tenderstem broccoli and she felt as a main it could of done with more. My starter and desert were lovely, however my main course was a little disappointing, the venison burger was full of taste, however it dripping in grease. I also felt the chips were overcooked. I has quite a few of what you would call the dreggs After reading such Fab reviews, we left slightly dissapointed.

The Crown inn brings back fond memories of visiting as a child many moons ago. I decided to book a table this evening to take a friend with her son. I phoned ahead of our visit and asked for a quiet area to sit as my friends son has complex needs. The staff could not do enough for us. As soon as we arrived they showed us to our table in a gorgeous conservatory we had to ourself. The waitresses were very attentive and could not do enough to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was top notch could not fault anything that was served, everything was delicious and well presented. Will definitely be returning again what a wonderful place.

Really rude obnoxious bar man/manager with no hospitality skills. My 9 year old asked the lovely waitress for Fanta. She said we don’t have that but we could offer orange juice and lemonade. Great! However not so great because the lemonade wasn’t fizzy lemonade so it tasted like watery orange juice. We explained to the lady that it didn’t taste great, especially at £4.20 for half a pint. We asked to exchange it for a lemonade on its own. When the bill came, I noticed the orange juice was on the receipt. I queried with the waitress and she said no worries she just needed to check with someone. Out comes the scruffy looking bar man/manager who completely embarrassed us in front of the whole restaurant loudly saying “from my understanding you want to take the orange and lemonade off the receipt however there was nothing wrong with it it’s just how we do it.” I explained that I tried it myself and tasted awful. He carried on arguing it to the point I just looked at him and he said okay so you want that refunded then again loudly saying “right I will remove the £4.20 off your bill” . The whole restaurant was silent, it was awful. I could tell the other customers were shocked by his awful customer service skills. Even the poor waitress felt the need to say “sorry about that”. Maybe he should learn some customer service skills from his lovely waitress. If he treats his customers like that, I dread to think how condescending he is to his staff. The beef was fatty and my husband’s Yorkshire was frozen in the middle. Such a shame because the setting was so peaceful but we won’t be returning.

Reviewed this as accommodation and gave five stars because of the atmosphere, restaurant and rooms. We also had 9 of us for a Sunday lunch, including two small kids. There was a wide choice of roasts, including the nut roast which I chose, and everyone was very happy with their meals, even the kids. Excellent sweet selection for those with room left. Nice selection of beers, ciders and wines, and excellent coffee too. All the staff were great and very friendly.

Lived in Lostwithiel for over 20years and The Crown has always been our ‘go to’ pub for a meal, from lunches to evening meals. Not been for 4 months which is very unusual. So sad to say we will not be going again. What has happened? Prawn cocktail with 5 prawns, swimming in sauce so like soup, no bread, I know costs have gone up, but for the price I expected a piece of bread and maybe a couple more prawns! ! fish and chips with nasty after taste, stone cold coffee (sent back) the six of us friends were all really disappointed.

Absolutely love what the new owners have done to the place. Much improved atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door. Fantastic service, excellent delicious food, locally sourced and cooked to perfection. We can’t wait to come back!

This is a lovely old inn full of character & with a pleasant garden tucked away in a quiet spot near the church. We enjoyed our drinks but food & food pricing needs a rethink. Stuffed portabello mushrooms starter for £7.50 came with just one...

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Been coming here for many years, it is an absolute joy every time we come for a meal. Today me and my mother came for afternoon tea and everything was delicious and delectable, as it always is. The service is absolutely flawless, all the staff are exceptional and extremely welcoming, especially the manager. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a perfect meal out.

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
