Great pub, friendly and kind staff

A perfect lunch executed and served by absolute professionals. A lovely warm welcome when we arrived set the tone for a very well paced relaxing lunch. The floor team were charming and polite and knew their trade well and of course the food was spot on as one would expect from the experienced hands at the helm. The quality of ingredients shines through in every dish and each course crafted to just the right level without being overly fussy. The warm and intimate dining room would make a superb evening date as well I’ve no doubt. Highly recommended, this place needs to be tried, appreciated and returned to regularly.

Love the crown, great food, a select location, but also warm, welcoming, good value, with a bar for drinks only. Wholeheartedly recommend, I'm always made to feel welcome.

An amazing country pub/restaurant which deserve the Michelin Star! The Venison was delicious, and so was the Place. I loved the Welsh rarebit and the Rabbit Lasagna. Attentive service too, well done!

Not so good this weekend as before food wise. Salmon with gin was good as usual but turbot dish was very disappointing, very small piece of fish with potatoes and samphire for £38, dessert not great either. We eat at restaurants every week and left very disappointed this time with food

Lovely place for a nice dinner. We have ordered several starters to try and they did not disappoint. Opt out from dessert as we were too full (lol). Anyway, very nice and kind of posh vibes place. Staff were amazing, very friendly and with smiles on their faces. We will definitely visit again.

We very much enjoyed our lunch, perfect service, professional and polite. Food was delicious, not that we anticipated anything less as we have eaten at Chef/ Patron Dominic’s establishments in the past and always been more than satisfied. Would like to add it was excellent value for money. We will return.

We were made to feel particularly welcome by Jez and Amber, and even got to meet chef Dom, whose experience shined through in the wonderful dishes we enjoyed. Great food with always seasonal menu

let me tell you like this, I chose to go from London to this beautiful restaurant (Michelin listed) to see the experience and the taste of the food, I drove an hour to get there, the weather was beautiful and sunny. I got there a pleasant welcome warm atmosphere! the space is a bit small, the size inside of the restaurant is small! 90% of the menu is based on fish so I chose only two types left that I could eat!! one with chicken and one with beef! I received the food very fresh and hot straight out of the oven with a nice smell, a superbly good taste. that was about it, the food was delicious. However, I would add that I was not asked about the beef, how do I want it cooked? in blood ? or hard baked and I had to send it back to fry it harder because it was more red, a little too much salt in the meat sauce. and of course the clothes of the employees should all be in one color, providing more professionalism. That was about it

A rather enjoyable experience BUT the acoustics in the larger room are rather terrible. I could have a discussion with the person that I was facing but not with the other members of our party. It would be relatively easy to cure the problem and would make a substantial difference to the customer experience.

Immediately made to feel welcome. Served by two staff members who were professional, efficient, friendly, and personable. The food was amazing. There are some premium prices on the menu, but we had set menu prices that were great value and tasted fantastic.

Amazing. The best roast. Meat is divine. It is pricey but at least it deserves to be. Staff are lovely. Just a fantastic place to go.

A lovely experience for us two parents, our son and his girl friend. We walked to the Crown from home and enjoyed the meal immensely. Cost was about £65 per head with one bottle of wine. We had our dog with us so we were unable to appreciate the pub in its entirety but the service was very attentive.

Wonderful food in a pretty little village pub. A great place for walkers looking for a stop. Dog friendly in the bar area. Book ahead to avoid disappointment. Friendly staff that cannot do enough for you.

Nice food but I was a little miffed. Rude, untrained staff who made us feel hurried and unwelcome. I ordered a glass of wine before the other guests arrived and I paid for it separately so it wouldn’t appear on the bill. I had to question why my £7:50 glass of wine was over £9 and I was told that they had added service charge to it. I said that I wasn’t prepared to pay that and she took it off the bill and I paid. When the bill for the whole table arrived my glass of wine had been added back on to the bill, service charge charged and then my payment deducted. If you are so desperate for £2 then have it but you have lost my custom. Agree with the other comments - not as good as the Beehive and overpriced for what was served. Failed to ask about allergies (one of our party had them). When I raised an objection to their ‘standard’ response below this is what they said : Apologies. This is my fault. I responded to your review before speaking to the team to find out what happened. It seems on this occasion we got it wrong….. I absolutely agree with your disappointment. Both the girls I had on shift with me today were new/support staff from a sister restaurant, hence why they did not come across as properly trained. Poorly done.

Lovely meal, but very overpriced. I have followed Chef Dominic Chapman from the Royal Oak to The Beehive now to the Crown. Enjoyed a lovely lunch there, but no amuse bouche, no sweeteners for the coffee, not as impressive as the Beehive. Pricing no longer realistic.

An excellent meal. More restaurant than pub, although there is indeed a public bar. Decent wines by the glass, super friendly service. Smallish menu, about 50% fish/seafood, and most of the dishes were fairly rich; the ones we had were tasty.

Lovely cosy atmosphere, makes your meal a very relaxing experience. Outstanding food, served by very pleasant staff (Amber Manager and Alice waitress). Tried Welsh Rarebit (💖), scotch eggs and breaded prawns from the snacks menu, followed by Goats cheese & beetroot tart as a starter. Followed up with Venison and Cod fillets as our mains and ended with Rice pudding and chocolate fondant for dessert. Restaurant has its own car park with plenty of parking and a lovely garden for sitting outside. I would thoroughly recommend dining here.

First time I’ve been here since the new owners took over. The food is fantastic and the service was impeccable. Atmosphere was nice and it was great value. I’d strongly recommend this as one of the best local restaurants.

Our local pub was taken over by this great team a few months ago and so glad it was. So friendly and welcoming even if you just want to stop by for a drink and bar snack. Dinners are special and worth a special date night. And then there are really reasonable lunch offers. Definitely worth the trip out here to our little village and some lovely walks nearby if you want a special lunch and friendly service. No kids menu, but kids very welcome and they are flexible on what you order for them.

After arriving into Maidenhead for business I was recommended this establishment and decided to take my wife for a meal. Quite simply put it was one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten in. The food was absolutely delicious but what also made this experience so nice was that the staff and service was an excellent experience too. The venue is based in a nice quiet leafy location and such a warm feel to it. I fully encourage you to visit for any occasion, thank you Dom and you're team and definitely will be revisiting again.

Hmm...had an OK meal here last night. And that's the point - it was only OK. Nothing special for the prices that were being charged (£15+ for starters, and then £25-£40 for mains - extras for veg etc.). Really, if you are going to charge that much for food it has to be special. The Beef pie (£27 !!) was - well a pie. And not even a full crust. It was also very quiet, on a Friday - maybe that says something.

Food is absolutely outstanding. Everything is made to perfection. My personal favourite is Devil on a horseback from the snack menu. I can have tons of this masterpiece. Lovely atmosphere, cosy and warm. Lovely people and service.

First and last visit before, sadly, the Crown closes down and the team/family move on to bigger and possibly better things. Wherever they end up their food will be worth bing down, and the exceptional service will round out many wonderful meals

A warming winter’s dinner in this hidden gem, nestled in the Berkshire countryside. A cosy gastropub exterior almost belies an accomplished Michelin star kitchen. That said, the environment is relaxed and inviting, definitely no pretensions there. Meats are a real treat, seasoned and cooked to perfection with maximum respect for the natural flavours and textures. If there’s a homely sounding recipe on the day’s specials - go for it! The venison pie I ordered was a fantastic play on the fine line between classical gastropub grub and haute cuisine. Service is friendly and efficient, perhaps family run. Prices are very reasonable considering the prestige. Overall, a brilliant experience and worth a detour if you’re in the area. Some of the better known kitchens in nearby Bray could learn a thing or two here.

The food here is exceptional. I had a very hard time deciding what to have as there so many delicious things. Started with Falafel, coriander & orange, followed by Black Angus beef. It was all amazing, the additional bread was superb and side of vegetables was cooked to perfection. Great wine & attentive staff. A special place indeed.

Wonderful food, wonderful service

I was in a dire predicament with extreme stomach cramps and asked to use the toilet facilities quickly. Bear in mind, that this place is in the middle of nowhere so I didn't have much choice. The manager informed me that there was a private function and in the most apathetic cold tone refused my request. I pleaded with him as I was so desperate and he just told me to go to another pub, shut the door on me, and watched me through the glass as I writhed in pain for half a minute. No remorse in his face. Just a cold nonchalant stare willing me to go away. I ended up soiling my pants and went home distressed. The workers aren't human and don't seem to care about people - only what lines their pockets. I've never met such apathetic, inhumane people in my life! Do not be fooled by their tidy, attractive appearance. It's all just for show! There is another review below where they refused a crying 4 year old child in similar circumstances, so it appears this is how the owner feels is an appropriate way to treat people since that was a year ago. No basic human decency can be found here it seems. Absolutely no way would I ever recommend this place for the safety of others. Who knows what they could do to you if you don't like their food! Actually a quick look at tripadvisor reveals they publish your personal details online if you complain about the food and receive a tirade of angry words from the chef, so beware when you are booking a table.

We heard such good reviews of this restaurant we went in with high expectations and even those were greatly surpassed. The Crown is a splendid old pub turned restaurant situated in a rural setting. Once you are inside you are made to feel truly welcome. Each of the 3 course we chose were beautifully presented and tasted amazing, there is an extra creative dimension in the texture and flavours that makes you wish you could come to dine here everyday. What stays in my mind is the delicious food, fine wine and genuine sincerity of the chef and his team to have you enjoy your dining experience at The Crown, Burchetts Green.

As a party of 12 having a late Xmas party this Saturday at the lovely Crown, we found as usual the service, food and ambiance to be first class. Very rare it is that a place can always be on point every time, yet this place is!!!

Arrived on Saturday 2-2-19 and was told that the bar was reserved! On a saturday night?? I don't know if they are stupid enough to actually do this or maybe it was an excuse because they don't like leathers. Seemed very pretentious any way.

Just been to The Crown for my son's 40th with friends and family. We were greeted by really friendly and attentive staff and had a drink at the bar then went through to a very relaxed dining area. Food was amazing. Staff very helpful and attentive. Not overbearing but there if you needed something . We were not in any way hassled to vacate our table and felt very relaxed. Made my son's birthday very special. Thank you we will return very soon. AMAZING EVENING!

Just back enjoying my husband's birthday meal. What a lovely place, everything is just right, the decor, the service, the food. Don't understand why we haven't been there before, we both loved it. The menue is small and very carefully selected, such a gem, we will be back.

Such a lovely & welcoming restaurant to enter as the weather gets colder. The room was relaxed & snug yet the service was attentive but just perfect. The food was wonderful, eel being a new choice I hadn't had before as a starter, the duck cooked perfectly & fantastic cheescake dessert. The head of service was the son of the chef and he was charming and knowledgeable; he has a bright future given his tender age to be in this position. Not an extensive menu, but I would choose a relatively small menu cooked perfectly over a large menu without the same level of attention anyday.

Fantastic evening! The staff were all very nice people, well pressented and extremely polite. It's a very small well laid out restaurant but not too intermate. The food was our main interest for the evening and could not be faulted, perfect portions of perfectly cooked fare. Yes is a little dearer than some other similar venues but well worth it.
