From the moment we stepped into The Crown we were given a lovely warm welcome! We took a table next to a warming fire which was much appreciated due to being -5 outside. Food was fabulous both choosing a main & dessert. Service impeccable. Really relaxed, friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be visiting again. Fantastic!

We have been house sitting locally and decided to try a new place for 'date night' Couldn't fault our experience, lovely food we had a mixture of the tapas with a burger and Crispy duck salad. The staff were very friendly and welcoming 🙂 the atmosphere is nice and the garden is well kept. We sat outside but undercover and the decor is lovely, very vibey! We returned again the next week and took a well behaved dog with us and there is plenty of water bowls available for them to have a drink 👍🏻 We will be back again!

Two themes here... First, as an Italian who moved to this country 21 years ago, British cuisine is globally underrated out of pure ignorance and the Sunday roast is one of the best examples, I really mean it. Secondly, living in Berkhamsted the Chilterns are a beautiful walking area with endless options so today Piccola and I ventured to Radnage and a most wonderful walk it was though moderately challenging for our 60+ limbs... Anyway, after completing the 10k steps or so The Crown was an unavoidable temptation so why not?! The pub is very clean, simply decorated and very welcoming. We turned up quite late but that wasn't a problem so a most friendly young tall guy showed us to a table and very quickly opted for the obvious choice. Summary: the two slices of beef were perfectly cooked; potatoes were perfect, both roast and mashed; a touch of kale was so tender as to resemble spinach; even the carrot felt special; and the Yorkshire pudding was a lovely company to the whole thing. And cheese cauliflower on the side was delightful too. For obvious reasons we are exceedingly picky with espresso and even that was... a bit more than ok after three sugar... The Crown is a bit too far from Berkhamsted but we'd like to go back. If anyone find himself in the area don't miss it, it's a nice establishment which deserves supporting!

A thoroughly disappointing visit to what looks on the face of it to be an attractive country pub in a nice rural setting. Unfortunately the positives end at the door. Food was overpriced and portions undersized. Some orders came out wrong and the bill was also incorrect. All of this accompanied by a surly waitress. Huge disappointment and a waste of a Sunday afternoon. Advise to avoid like the plague.

Good signage to socially distance. Nice food but not a lot of choice after covid. Pizza or a burger was the gist of it. I had a chicken burger and my partner a pizza. All was was you would expect for pub grub. Service was quick. We had a buzzer to let us know when our food was ready. The waiter was attentive and polite. Toilets very fancy and clean! We all would return here without a doubt

This is only our 2nd visit ever to this pub and both during this pandemic. I would also like to say we've visited others and this is the only pub I feel safe at. Well spaced tables in the garden, queuing system with sanitizer station, screen to protect their staff, disposable cutlery and wooden knife and forks, plastic drinks containers and a pager system which they put in a paper cup for when your food is ready which is then sterilised before the next person. Jack thank you and all of your staff for making us feel very welcome and safe, food was lovely. Lloyd & Jean

We called on the day and were delighted to get a table late afternoon. The pub is quite small inside but that is not reflected in the service, you could believe you were in a London restaurant with all of the team dressed in polo shirts and smart trousers. Great gin menu and ale too. I had beef which was tender and cooked just right and my wife had pork. Both plates were cleared, need I say more. We couldn’t resist the sticky toffee pudding and they even changed the ice cream to plain for us as we were not fans of the rum and raisin. All in all we were glad we took the time to find this lovely place. Thank you all.

we were a large group and the accommodated us which was really good as not the bigest place, It was a sunday menu which is quite limited they did do some things off the children's menu for some teenagers who didn't eat roasts. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was just one problem when they did the bill side of things. They had done it in a few family names so we all knew whose was whos bill. We thought there was one more to pay but was assured by the young lady it had all been paid for. We asked my father wether he had paid the last bill and he said no he hadn't. We found it strange but she insisteed it had been paid so we all left ecept my daughter who had a problem with her car. Her husband went back into the pub and then was told that one bill hadn't been paid and he had to pay it. I wasn't happy this happened and I can't understand why she had insisted we had paid it all. It was my brother's part of the meal and he was over from America which meant I landed up paying for more on my birthday. That's why I only gave an average score. Outside looked nice but as was raining couldn't use it. The other thing was it was quite hard to find Sat Nav took us the wrong way had to ask someone

We visited this one primarily for Sunday lunch and chose it due to it being within a five minute drive of junction 5 on the M40 and having a vegan menu and decent vegetarian options, which were of relevance to the friends we were meeting here. A one room pub with the advantage of a sizeable garden and equally sizeable car park out back and additional outside bench seating to the front of the pub. We were here for Sunday lunch and the roast and vegetarian options were very good and there were no complaints with the food. On the beer front there were two Rebellion beers on the bar with the Rebellion IPA looking like it is permanent and the Zebedee was on for our visit and this was a well kept pint. If you find yourself in the Radnage / Stokenchurch areaq and want something to eat alongside a decently kept pint, then I can recommend The Crown for that.

Booked a last minute evening meal for seven people after a long drive from Kent. What a lovely find! The staff were so nice, eager to please and advise on meal selection and wine. The food was excellent and very good portions. My husband and I had the sharing meat board for our starter, which was really good. I had the fish and chips, which was delicious, my husband had the burger which was enormous and my mother thoroughly enjoyed a salad, together with new potatoes and carrots. She said that the flavour of the potatoes and carrots was amazing and obviously locally grown, which was confirmed by the waitress, who said that everything is locally sourced where possible. Unfortunately, we were all too full to have a dessert, but the dessert menu did look enticing. Also, it was good to see that there was a vegan menu, as there is generally very little choice for my mother or sister. We were visiting the area to attend a wedding and had booked elsewhere to stay for two nights. I didn't realise that The Crown had rooms, we would definitely have stayed there instead.

Just five minutes drive from Junction 5 of the M40, the Crown is set in a peaceful Chiltern village with plentiful red kites soaring overhead. Ales are from Rebellion, brewed nearby in Marlow. There's a reasonable, not huge, menu of good quality food with main dishes priced mostly around the £mid-teens. The Seabass fillet (£16), served with saute potatoes and chargrilled veg was excellent. They also do a good range of homemade pizzas. For me, however, this venue has been somewhat over refurbished and has more the feel of a bistro than a pub, although there are some stools around the bar for casual drinking and also a few tables outside.

The pub has been refurbished and whilst nice to look at there are hardly any soft furnishings, making it very very noisy even with some tables empty. This made it very difficult to hold a conversation at our table without struggling to be heard and ening up shouting. This was further compounded when a large group of loud drinkers came and perched between our table and the bar, with some quite flavoured, very loud, conversation - despite being almost sat on the back of our chairs. Eventually I had to ask them to tone it down as it was ruining our evening and making it impossible for us to have a conversation.

I looked at their extensive menu and chose the pork on a Sunday. The meat was succulent, the crackling heavenly, the potatoes crispy, wonderful veg and the gravy is to die for. Credit where it is due - gravy can be disappointing in many pubs but not here. They tell me it takes eight hours to reduce and it certainly tastes like it - fantastic! All for fourteen quid. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. And so to the beer. A really good choice of well kept ales and delicious wines. Also there is a really comfy south facing bench to catch some rays when I'm not busy eating! Lovely garden also. I would come every week if I could...

Stopped at The Crown for a mid-walk lunch break with a couple of friends. I hadn't been here for probably around 30 years & was impressed with the recent refurbishment. Good selection of beers & ciders. We just had sandwiches & chips (which were very tasty) so can't really comment on the food too much. By the time we left the place was packed so is obviously a popular place to go for a drink & a bite to eat. The level of service from the (mostly) young staff was exemplary. I highly recommend this place for an informal lunch or dinner or if you just want a drink (hot drinks available too I noticed).

I visited The Crown twice in my five days in the area, and I was torn between three and four stars.Anyway, here are my observations. The place is clean and fresh, and the guttering has a certain comedy value. My first visit was on a dinner time. There were a few regulars in the bar, and they were, one and all, very welcoming and friendly; perfectly happy to have a laugh with a total stranger. Four stars at that point, no doubt. Our next visit was for an evening meal, and there was a pretty significant cock-up with the food. My wife had specifically asked if her meal was spicey, and has received an assurance that it was not. When it came it was laced with chilli. The staff were very good about it, and our disappointment was reflected in the final bill, but it did spoil the overall experience. We ended up eating seperately.Having said all that, The Crown is worth a visit in my opinion, if only to laugh at the guttering.

Booked a table for dinner and arrived to a heavingly busy local pub. A great selection of gins made a good first impression, served in balloon glasses with appropriate garnishes... how they should be! Very nice IPA from Marlow brewery served in peak condition. Limited menu but the four dishes we chose were absolutely delicious! Generous but not overwhelming portions with great flavours and nice presentation. Not food as art... proper food! Too full for desert, but we were tempted to look at the menu and then couldn't resist so we shared. It did not disappoint. Followed up with great coffee and espresso martini. My only very slight criticism would be that there was no pause between courses so it was all over too quickly. But we will return! Highly recommended.

We visited the Crown for lunch again yesterday. This is our local and we have been there on several occasions in the past couple of weeks for food, both as a couple and with a group of friends. The pub has been refurbished recently and whilst there is now a very different atmosphere we are getting acclimatised to the big change. The food is superb, their gambas are to die for, the fish and chips are a particular favourite but yesterday my husband tried the seafood pizza which is a new addition to the menu. I don't care for pizza much but this was delicious with prawns, anchovies and capers. I ate three slices much to his disgust!! The staff as always were extremely pleasant and professional. They serve an excellent range of local beers and my favourite, draught cider. They also have a really good, reasonably priced wine list and do excellent coffee. There is a lot of competition locally for good food and you are up with the best.

We called into The Crown at Radnage mid-afternoon on a Bank Holiday Sunday. The pub was pretty full with locals who had obviously been there for some-time judging by the volume of the conversations and the near empty bottles of wine on the tables !I manage to get to the corner of the bar and ordered a drink for myself and Mrs FB2000. Bizarrely I was asked to pay first by the young server, and then proceeded to wait at the bar for several minutes until someone else was available to pour the drinks.Eventually the drinks were provided and we went outside to the garden where it was nice and quiet. When it was time for a second round of drinks, I was served by an older gentlemen, possibly the landlord, and didn’t have to pay up front !Overall, our experience of The Crown was a bit odd. Next time it would be better to go not on a bank holiday when the locals can get tanked up without having to get-up and go to work the next day !

Newly and beautifully renovated the pub appeared cold and bland when we walked in (it's initial look was modern cafe) but we found the atmosphere was actually like Cheers as we sat down. Old fashioned superb service, great beers and pub banter! The pub is family-run, but it's a lively and willing reposte from the staff to cheeky pub talk - like a 3-d soap opera. Everyone seemed happy to be there and I guess that's down to the guvnor Steve. The loos are immaculate, so you can be assured the kitchen is too. The food menu is typical pub-grub and looked well presented. We were only there for the beer (and cider and pork scratching), however. You make your own entertainment in a good pub, but here, the locals blend welcomingly with the landlord and family and us caravaners were made very welcome. The menu is limited but everything on it was appetising (fish & chips, Burger, Sea Bass, Chicken). The food was delicious, very fresh, quality produce and very well cooked. They definitely have a well trained chef there. Now for the niggles...there were too many staff for such a small place who were far too attentive. They whisked away the plates before we had swallowed the last mouthful of food then the next course appeared immediately. We had barely finished our dessert when we were asked if we wanted our bill! We made a joke to the waitress about the speed of everything! We also found it difficult to have a conversation as we kept being interrupted by the waitresses. The sticky toffee pudding wasn't one of those round mass produced ones but a square cut from a large home made (I guess) pudding with a good sauce and sticky toffee ice cream. The portion sizes lend themselves to 3 courses which I would go for next time.

Really good for breakfast lunch and dinner. I particular enjoyed their tempura prawns, beef carpaccio, and fish and chips. Especially the chips!

Stayed in the village for a few nights, popped in for an evening meal here with my wife & daughter. Having read several reviews prior to going I gave them a call and booked a table with reasonable expectations. We have a need for gluten free food which I asked about & was assured that could be catered for. We arrived to a very busy pub, this was around 1830hrs, because it is a small pub there was not a lot of wriggle room. We were sat at the table right near the bar & with people stood at the bar it felt like I was half in their space & they were half in ours! We ordered food that took about 45 minutes to come out, my wife had a chicken Caesar salad which had chicken in it as expected but the Caesar salad was lettuce & Mayo but nothing else....My daughter had ham/egg & mash (chips were not gluten free) the ham was really chewy and half of it had to be left as it was too chewy! I had steak which was about all you get for £18, a bit of mash and some herby stuff was slid onto the plate! Appreciating this is a small country pub I was not expecting the Ritz but was disappointed at the prices vs the size & quality of the meals, take that with customers in & out to smoke & standing right next to you when they return to the bar it was not a great eating out experience for us. It did make me laugh though when one of the stinky smokers returned & commented that they hated the smell of cooked beef......

This was a perfect location for us to unwind for a couple of days with our little Cairn terrier. The Accomodation is in a separate annexe away from the main building and although a little dated and in need of some tlc the room was comfortable. The appearance is the only thing that lets the whole thing down, but that said we were happy with the service and indeed the lovely free breakfast. Unfortunately if you were passing I think that you would probably drive past without stopping but if you look past that then it's good. Will definitely turn but may mention to the owners that the appearance of the grounds is a little off-putting.

High Wycombe Hash House Harriers run every Tuesday evening from pubs within a 10 mile radius on Wycombe and rank them according to Beer, Non-Beer, Food, and Atmosphere (or hash-mosphere as we like to call it!) Beer: 3 cask ales, 2 Rebellions, 1 Malt Brewery….all very Ted Rogers! Joking apart, also all very locally-sourced and all very well kept and at £3.70 across the board (including the 5% Malt offering) excellent value.Chips: "You want chips.....you can't HANDLE the chips!" With apologies to Jack Nicholson, but the bowls just kept on coming! Hashmosphere: Twas a cold & wintry Stokenchurch night when we visited (actually, technically it was Spring, but nobody ever remembers to tell that to Stokenchurch), and set against this backdrop, the warming glow from The Crown was soooooo tempting. Plenty of parking out back and lots of room in the bar out front - all in all, a very nice character-filled village local.

Busy lunchtime service when we arrived at 1 pm. Nice round table with chilled Prosecco and Sauvignon. We chose steak, smoked haddock on bubble & squeak with poached egg and sausage & mash. All food was good though the unfortunate person who had the sausage and mash chewed on a dead wasp which had somehow dropped into the gravy. After double-checking the bill we found we had been charged for everything and had to ask for a revised bill to exclude the dish containing the wasp. On the whole it was a nice meal spoilt by hopefully a one-off incident.

We were staying with friends at the campsite next door over the Summer. As there were 4 adults and 6 children visiting, we phoned the pub in advance to book. One of the children has a lot of food allergies so we needed to check if they could cater for us. The staff were excellent, offering meal alternatives and reassuring us they would be able to help. When we got there, the pub was tiny, and very very busy, but our tables (1 for the kids and 1 for us - brilliant!), were waiting for us. There only appeared to be one member of staff working in there, but she was fast, efficient, friendly and helpful. All of us really enjoyed our meals, and there was a great choice on the menu. All in all, a very well run, very friendly pub which we wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

We stayed in the campsite next door to the pub and were keen to try it for a meal. We tried to book a table for the Saturday night upon arriving at the campsite, but the pub was fully booked, so we reserved a table for Sunday dinner instead. It is very small so I'd recommend booking if you want to go.The staff were very friendly, the barman was very patient with the children (age 6, 5 and 3), enquiring as to what they'd like to drink and laughing at their requests for cider etc!We waited quite a long time for our meals - around 45 minutes. We also felt the portions to be on the small side, apart from my husband's Sunday roast beef, which was a decent size. The children's meals in particular where quite poor for £8 each. My daughter had ham and chips and had three small bits of the scraggy end of the ham. My nephew had sausage and chips, with only one sausage on the plate, and my son had what was described as pasta with tomato and cheese sauce, which was actually spaghetti (I know it's pasta but I wouldn't have chosen spaghetti for a three year old if I'd known!) with very little tomato sauce and a sprinkle of cheddar on top. He didn't eat any of it which stressed me out having cost £8! My husband's roast beef was £12.95 and my ham, egg and chips (not much ham again, but homemade chips which were lovely) was £9.50.Overall, lovely atmosphere and staff. Would be lovely for a quiet drink as a couple. There are a few games next to the bar which is a nice touch. Just a shame about the portion size for the price of the food.

I stayed in the accommodation here with a couple of friends just for the weekend, so we had the breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a fair bit of the local cider! All of which was extremely lovely! The accommodation was also great. Really modern, clean and comfortable rooms and a good sized bathroom. We were extremely grateful as they allowed three of us to stay in the double room, and even allowed the additional breakfast for no extra charge. The amazing staff are the over all winners though. Always so helpful and go out of their way to ensure you visit is a good one. Thanks guys, we shall be back! :)

We stayed here on 23rd June and loved it. Very helpful staff, friendly locals and awesome breakfast. Rooms are perfect in a separate block away from the pub. Lovely comfortable large bed, small fridge, espresso machine and a fantastic wet room shower. Radnage is beautiful and peaceful location and the Crown use locally sourced products which is nice to see. Breakfast was amazing, the locally sourced eggs tasted so fresh and was perfectly cooked. John the owner was attentive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much that we're going to stay again the following week! Very highly recommended, a real gem

Stayed here for a night when away on business. Really excellent, no-frills food that was really well cooked. Uses local produce, which I love. The garlic field mushrooms on toast were a real treat as were the fish and chips. Rooms are motel-style in an adjoining block and are very comfortable. Great range of beer in a village pub atmosphere meant a very pleasant evening. Staff are super friendly and efficient. Will be looking for a reason to come back to this area. You only have to look to the skies to see Red kite, always a spectacular sight. If you are in the area for a couple of days and the weather is nice I can also thoroughly recommend the Lido in High Wycombe. That was a real treat, a lovely evening swim on a sunny summer's evening

We visited the Crown, as it was a stone throw away from the camp-site we were staying at. We visited a couple of times for drinks after a long walk and for an evening meal when we decided to extend our stay at the camp-site for a second night. Our dog was welcomed by the staff and given a bowl of fresh water whilst she laid alongside by our table.Having seen from reviews, we booked earlier in the day to ensure we were able to be seated. It wasn't too busy on the day we visited, but it was a Tuesday evening, I imagine it would be very popular with the locals at weekends and during the peak summer time when the camp-site is packed out.The pub was small and cosy inside and had a large garden area at the back with a marquee erected, following a 40th birthday celebration.Food was good and I would thoroughly recommend trying the pub's own marinated olives, they were delicious. They also sell fresh free range eggs.

I was impressed and surprised by the quality of accommodation, which is in modern motel-style cabins outside the pub. Spacious, clean and quiet, with excellent furnishings. Breakfast was very good - I love the way they include local produce as much as possible. Dinner was good - honest pub grub, with no surprises, but all freshly cooked and generous portions. Service was exceptional, with all staff very friendly and helpful.

We were so glad we decided to stop and have lunch here. All the food was outstanding. As an olive lover the home marinaded olives were as tasty as any I have eaten and combined with the peppered cashews they made a great nibbles to whet our appetite. Our main course of local sourced pork rack was cooked to juicy perfection and was complimented by a tangy rich, dark mustard sauce. The accompanying colcannon was mouth watering. For pudding we chose the Chocolate and Rebellion Ale cake which was rich and firm without being at all cloying. Absolutely delicious with cream. We have to say all the other dishes looked just as appetising as they came out from the kitchen.Excellent friendly service topped off our wonderful meal.

Visiting family in the area we enjoyed a lovely 2 course evening meal from the Specials menu. Pork and Fish dishes were beautifully cooked (not overcooked) & the homemade burger was delicious. Only a small dining area indoors, very casual setting but you can eat outside too (roadside tables). Friendly Landlord & the new Chef (Nick) is expanding the menu offer. Tasty locally based dessert menu - I recommend & will return next time we visit.

Had my fathers wake here after his funeral. Staff were very accomadating, pub itself is great like an old country pub with fires and lots of little hidden corners here and there making it very cosy and homely. We had the aftermoon tea menu which was great, i imagine the meals here are even better Highly recommend

Didn’t really want to leave a bad review as the staff and the service was very good. I’ve wanted to come here for years but it’s a long way. We stayed at the accommodation and it was fantastic. The big downside was the food. The appetisers which are provided between courses were very nice but the actual food was no better than a local pub for a tenth of the price. The steak was perfectly cooked, the potato inedible, greasy and hard. The desert also hard and not too nice. My husband had the cheese platter which wasn’t good either. On the plus side the cocktails were delicious and the breakfast the next morning excellent. We have had several michellin star meals which have been outstanding elsewhere and the food here was just nowhere near that level.
