We have just visited the crown to celebrate my sons birthday,the lady who served us was so friendly and welcoming,the place is absolutely spotless,2 of us had steak,my daughter had haddock and my son and his girlfriend had burgers, everything was absolutely delicious,clean plates all round,also the cocktails went down very well,thank you to all the staff,you are all a credit to the company,we will definitely be back,well done

Great food and service will definitely be returning lady on bar was friendly also young waitress. Quick service with starters followed by the mains .

Chicken was dry ham egg chips was awful must have noticed that by how much was left on plates been to weatherspoons and left less and got money back then browny came looking good I've never tasted a horrible brownie till today would not recommend this place at all for food

Regards The Crown Birkdale Went for drink with my son before he flew home, he ordered a pint of Madri. The taste of the chemicals used to clean the line was strong, so much it made him violently ill. He has done cellar man work so he knows how to clean line and what it smells and taste like Flush and clean the beer lines correctly. Absolutely ruined the evening, thanks for nothing. You get 1 star because I can't give you less.....

Excellent food, had a lovely meal, service was great also. The atmosphere in the place was lovely. Always a great experience here.

We have been to The Crown many times for dinner & drinks always very satisfied. however Monday April 8th,2024 was such a dissapointment. We arrived at 8:30pm went to bar informed the young girl we would like to order dinner, she said it was too late kitchen was closed, as we were quite hungry we asked if it was possible to order appetizers, she came back and said yes though limited, it was ok with us. We enjoyed the appetizers and bottle of wine then went to order cocktails but noticed the lights at the bar were turned out as were table lights & beautiful large carrige lamp which we all had just been admiring, we asked if they were now closed, we were told just the main part of the bar and directed us to side bar to place order. We enjoyed our drinks though dissapointed they did not have Advocat for the Brandy cocktail and also no lemons for the vodka soda, I asked if they could perhaps get a lemon from the kitchen, and was told no as the kitchen was closed. Then around 10pm full lights were turned on ruining the ambiance and the barstaff started cleaning and wiping bar also cleaning behind bar and brushing under near by tables, making us feel quite uncomfortable to the point were the three of us finished our drinks and left as we felt very unwelcome. Normally we love this resturant but will now think twice about returning. Thankyou

Booked our fave table no1 Food was absolutely delicious. Rib of beef was absolutely to die for. Staff so helpful and just so happy to help. This place gets better every visit. Birkdales no1 Gastro pub 😊

8 of us went for a birthday meal in the evening. The pub was spotless, the staff were really friendly and took great care of us. The food was absolutely fantastic, all 8 meals, starters mains and puds were all spot on. Thank you to all the team for making the birthday celebrations memorable. Will definitely be back more often. Highly recommend.

Went to The Crown today for lunch for 4 persons at 2pm.The staff were very attentive & the meal great. I have Coeliac disease the Land lord was extremely helpful in making a meal for me. I really appreciate that he had plenty time for me despite being a very busy day for The Crown. The service from everyone was second to non. We have been many times & we will be back.

Drove past and thought it looked a nice place and it had a lunchtime deal so decided to try. Carparks abit right as its a one car wide road so you have to reverse out if you park by the side or in front. Good disabled parking though right outside the entrance. It was a order at the bar restaurant but the staff were friendly. I ordered the two course lunchtime deal for £9.79 so I ordered beer battered mushrooms and for main chargrilled chicken breast with BBQ sauce. Used the toilets and they were spotless. The place itself is light and airy and nicely decorated. The mushrooms didn't taste of anything sadly and abit chewy..the chicken was small but ok and the oven ready chips and tinned peas were ok. I know it's a budget meal so I can't complain but I wouldn't get the mushrooms again. I had half a lager and the bill came to £12.19. I'd come again as the place is nice but I'd like to try to full menu instead next time

Had a midweek lunch with my wife. Car park is a little difficult if you struggle to park easily, not much room to manoeuvre if it was full. Large bright spacious interior, nicely decorated with tables not close together. You order at the bar for food and drinks or via app at your table. That’s probably why it’s so reasonably priced. Prices are excellent. Lots of choice from main menu but we decided on the light lunch fixed menu. 3 courses £11.49 and 2 courses for £9.49 Food a reasonable standard but the caramel crumble apple pie was amazing for dessert. Staff were very pleasant.

What a nice pub, very nice staff, Lorraine served us a very nice person and excellent beer and a clean place. I’ll be back again. It’s in a nice place and easy to park.

Our local pub, usually for a couple of drinks and maybe a snack. Have just been immensely impressed by their Christmas Day experience. Six of us ranging from 86 years old to 24 years old and our dog too. Superb welcome , personalised menus, prompt cheerful service, outstanding food (and choice).......great value. Would highly recommend.....and we will return. Well done to all the staff at The Crown Birkdale.

A friend booked a table today supposed to 3.30pm but note on table saying 2pm. At 6PM throw out, no standing space, you need to go outside to finish drinking, in Dec!, they needed to set tables for Christmas Day, took me five years to return after a burned roast dinner March 2018, only went cos friends wanted to go, as nearest pub, probably 00be another five years !

Popped in for lunch, lovely warm welcome very festive and great to see a real fire roaring away after our long walk

Great food and inviting cosy warm fires. We had the gammon and eggs, great size portions, well cooked and very tasty. We had a 50% off voucher on main meals which greatly added to the value. Drinks were reasonably priced. Overall a pleasant lunch. Friendly service, lovely atmosphere by the fire. We will be back.

Not nice had the chicken burger, ordered it’s a few times now the bun is always soaked it’s horrible puts me of the rest of my food, yuck.

My mum, sister and I visited for a last minute lunch. We were served very promptly at the bar, by a lovely lady. The 3 meals we ordered were absolutely delicious, and changes we requested were adhered to. A big shout out to Molly, for her excellent service!! Having been a few times in recent months, we will definitely return again. Oh and nice to see the tables around, being cleared and cleaned so quickly (certainly not the case, in lots of other pubs we’ve been to). The Crown is well worth a visit!!!

We have had a wonderful roast dinner at the crown in birkdale, food cooked to perfection, compliments to the chef, service excellent and professional highly recommended, having visited the crown a few times, we find ourselves back here, the warmth and ambiance is second to none, all members of staff are so accomodating, they go out of their way to make your visit a wonderful experience, nothing is too much for them, the chef Vicki will cater for your every needs

Placed a food and drinks order at the bar. My drink was ok but my Mums wine was awful and the Bar person refused to change it and was going to charge us for another drink. His attitude was dreadful and customer service was non existant. He couldnt care less and didnt come near after that. We eventually got the manager who sorted the situation out and got another drink. Food however was really good

Come here all the time with my boyfriend, absolutely love it here, I regularly visit. The staff are amazing, so welcoming and polite. All staff are super approachable, and supply you with all sorts. Would 100% recommend anyone to come here. They have the most beautiful fireplaces, which fit so well with the homely atmosphere. A gorgeous outside area which is (also covered) and during summer , it’s the best place to sit. Service is amazing, on the app, and at the bar. Loved my visit here , thank you for our stay.

Food was fine but encouraged to order on the app. I Missed off a child's fruit shoot drink that should have been £1 as part of meal deal, when mentioned to staff they said they couldn't do anything has I ordered on the app so I had to order separately for £1.85 ! Not a fortune but it's the principle, will order at the bar in future.

Lovely atmosphere relaxed, the bar man Conner was very attentive and very helpful. Not been here since they had new owners due to a bad experience but i will definitely be returning now

Just arrived back after eating at the crown the first time since lockdown.The gentleman who served us could not have been more attentive .Using the app was easy to do and the food perfect.Will be back with the family asap Thank you for a wonderful time.Michelle

Been to the crown tonight with my daughter and to grandchildren fist my starter had a hair in it then my grandson meal had a hair as well the manager more else called us liars said he was plex said the chef had a head covering on i told him to look at the cameras he was so rude he was trying to make out we had put them there ourselves will never go in again I'm 69 i don't like being called a liar i have been going in the crow for 40 year's i will be getting in touch with head office would never go in again it put us of our food

The food was excellent me and my partner and the staff were very friendly this is a dog friendly place as well the service was spot on I definitely recommend the crown to family and friends First class service and food Reasonably priced

Been here twice this week as I moved close by. I’m a bit of a pain when it comes to eating out as I am in the trade. But I can not fault this place. The couches are soooo comfy and the food is lovely. The staff are also exceptional. We will be making this our local. Thank you to the team

Called in for a meeting with a client and ordered Haddock and chips. Haddock was soggy and very poor quality. Wont be eating here again , seems all Ember inns are of the same quality poor food.

Myself and my partner came for a date night here. Rude service and the food was auful ....cold and seemed to be microwaved.

I would just like to thank the management and staff in making the recent 'breakfast with Santa' such a happy and enjoyable occasion. I took along my two, very excited Grandaughters(age 5 & 3) and were made very welcome by the friendly staff, dressed as Elves!! Obviously meeting Santa, who spent a lot of time speaking to the children was the best part, but the cooked breakfast they received went down a treat...along with a gift for being good. For £6 a head i couldn't fault our time there.Thank you again for such a lovely morning and helping to kick-start our Christmas fun.Best wishes for 2021.

Food was horrendous, Slow service and very unfriendly towards children. Do not bother visiting if you have kids... not welcoming whatsoever. Bad reputation as it is but not one to listen to rumours and thought would chance. Boy was I wrong. To top off our taxi driver told us the chef is renowned the worst chef standing in Southport.... ha ha says it all.

Had a good pub feast with some crisp draft to follow. Conor, Jake and the young lady working (didn't catch her name) had great customer service and were on hand for any request, would definitely return.

I had booked a meal for my husbandI booked, myself, daughter & partner on a Saturday tea time 12/12/20.Although we are in a bubble we still like to social distance so I specifically asked for a table on the right which easily seats 6 so we could spread out. My booking was made on the 5th and I had a confirmation email to say they had recieved my message. When we arrived at the Crown I could see people at our booked table, I enquired why, to be told they had requested it 2 and was shown to a normal 4 seater table with an apology.I was really upset by this and we felt a bit too close to each other. Also the coal fire was on not far from us and we were all boiling which fromva covid point of view is not a good idea.As we were so looking forward to a night out I didn't want to make a fuss as the food ,& service that followed was really nice, but we didn't enjoy it as much as we normally would due to this.RegardsAmanda Watling

Had a lovely meal here today, felt very safe at this difficult time. All staff in masks & customers too as they moved around the pub.Very attentive table service & amazing food

We came here and were happy with the Covid regulations in place initially. I think it was the manager who seated us and he was friendly and engaging. We didn’t get cutlery so had to ask. The food was nice but could have been hotter tbh. We didn’t get a check back so seemed no one cared how it was. This wasn’t a staffing issue as there were a few staff members stood around chatting. There were items missing from my meal so I had to call someone over but it was rectified. My main problem was it appeared the bar member was eating chocolate behind the bar and touching his mouth, then the till, and then making drinks. Not very hygienic (at least eat the chocolate out the back)! But, then he went to stroke a dog, all without sanitising or washing his hands. The female chef member also came and ate chocolate out of the same packet. No sanitising in place there! I will give this place another go because the food was nice. Just iron out the simple details like hot food, check backs and you will see your customers return.

Decided to go out for tea tonight to the crown (pre- COVID was good). Most disappointing meal for a long time! Nachos not even warm and the tortilla chips weren’t real tortilla chips and no cheese to be seen (had to ask for napkins and cutlery - only got napkins). Main course equally poor (steak and burger) - again had to ask for cutlery and salt etc. Won’t be returning for a long time. Realise COVID measures add challenges but other restaurants coping much better.

My boyfriend and I visited the crown for lunch. I was so delighted to see my ex work colleague Mel. Looking absolutely fabulous as always. We ordered 3 courses and ate our meals outside in the blazing hot sun . Awesome. Excellent customer service and our meals were delicious. . We really enjoyed ourselves. Credit where it is due. Have had a long on-off love affair with the Crown, having lived in walking distance for years and seeing it change hands quite a few times. However, credit where it is due and two of us popped in Wednesday afternoon for a late lunch. Can honestly say we were made very welcome. The distancing measures in place work well, the food was excellent; well prepared, presented and tasty. Table service spot on. Didn't think to take her name but she was so helpful as was the young man who took the initial order. 2 very happy customers.

Great tasting food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. Not sure why it doesn't have more 5 star reviews. Only drawback was the screaming child on the adjacent table. Will be visiting again!

My local pub has gone down the pan. Don't buy food from here it's cooked by chef mic.. rowave!The manger is appalling stands there looking on at his staff when they are struggling. Not enough staff behind bar, it took people along time to get served.This place Can be improved... But as of now I would Not recommend this pub.

I have had a few good experiences at The Crown since moving to Birkdale, but the last two occasions the food hasn’t been good. Today was the worst... the young girl taking our order was a bit off hand when I misunderstood her about which roasts were still available, and then looked visibly exasperated as I paused to recall which desserts we wanted. The roast potatoes were abysmal - rubbery, obviously frozen and pretty tasteless. My partner’s treacle sponge was cold when served. A shame as this has put us off coming here again, as there are other pubs that serve better food and have more consistent levels of customer service.

This was our 3rd visit to the Crown Ember Inn, Southport and once again a lovely evening was had by all celebrating a friends birthday. We received a warm welcome from the new manager Mick, who showed us to our table. We highly recommend the sweet chilli noodles, sea bass with potatoes and asparagus and the camembert burger with fries. All 3 meals were delicious and tasty. Our server, Antonia was new to the job, very polite and friendly, as were Ben and Jake behind the bar. Thank you to Viki the chef for producing 3 fantastic meals and making our night such an enjoyable one.

Never had any issues with this place since visiting in the past, 4th time here absolutely amazing atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful and very food delicious will defiantly be back for more

I visited this pub with my partner after it was recommended to us by family friends. Upon entering we were treated nicely by the front of house staff. After we had received our meals my meal had so many things wrong with it, I had to send it back twice. To be then told that this was how it’s was ordered, this was how its made.

We went on a Saturday evening for early tea with our son. It wasn’t busy but the service wasn’t great and neither was the food. Starters.... child’s soup that was ok but no bread roll. Large nachos.... it was quite large but nowhere near enough toppings (literally a teaspoon of each) so it was like eating a bowl of crisps, not good for almost £7. They forgot the garlic bread. When I asked for it they took it to the wrong table and when we did get it (with no apology) it was awful. Main courses.... macaroni cheese, nice but small with 1 piece of the garlic bread on the side no salad or anything. Child’s steak ( off the larger appetites kids menu) nice but the smallest portion ever.... it was smaller than a burger. The best dish of the whole meal was the rack of ribs.... they were lovely. Nobody came to ask if everything was ok. Nobody came to clear the plates or to ask if we would like desserts or coffee so we left and won’t be back. It’s a shame as it’s within walking distance for us. We have been before and weren’t very impressed but we thought we’d give it a last chance.

Came here today 08/01/20 and we were the second people in so it was empty which I liked. The Lady greeted us so nicely and served me throughout my visit. She was great with my little Boy from the get go and was just overall lovely! I'd visit again if i would receive that welcome and service again. I didn't get her name but there was only her and a man on so it shouldn't be too difficult to find out who she was to give her praise!

We went for a meal here recently and chose the Vegan option. Everyone thought the food was tasty. The pub itself looks bright and well decorated and the staff friendly.

From start to finish, our time spent here for my birthday meal was very enjoyable and relaxing. We were greeted by friendly and good natured bar staff who were willing to have a bit of banter, even when busy. I had the Vegan, spinach & lentil pie with kale mash and spring greens, roast potatoes and carrots. It was delicious, hot and tasty.My family had the roast dinners, one with beef, turkey and the trio of meats. They all complimented how nice the meat and yorkshire puddings were. Four clean plates at the end said it all i think? I'm so pleased they chose the Crown for my birthday meal. We will definately come again before Christmas. Thank you.

Visited last weekend and chose the Sunday roast, we were not disappointed! Massive portion of 3 different meats and fresh veg served with 2 giant Yorkshire puddings, I did ask for extra gravy which was no trouble at all, the young guy waiting on us was more than happy to oblige! I must mention the staff actually, so polite and engaging, a welcome change from certain "pub chains", it seemed like they actually enjoyed their job.All in all we had a really lovely Sunday afternoon, great food, few drinks in a nice pleasant atmosphere which didn't break the bank either. Looking forward to next Sunday already.

The Crown pub birkdale, what can I say on here that hasnt been said 1000 times before, 5 star all round that's what. From the warm welcome we received from the two young gentlemen working, a special mention to the young ginger haired lad who helped with our order at the bar and brought our food to us while we waited in this cosy place. I never managed to catch his name (think the other bar man called him Jake), but he is a credit to yourself at the Crown. Polite and service with a smile goes along way , he delivered this amazingly. I liked the way he was friendly with the customers around the place while clearing tables and chatting to customers at the bar in a friendly manner. Food was lovely lots of it too and really good for the price. Lots of different real ales and very clean. After my visit yesterday I will be back again in the near future to try more out on the menu. Keep up the good work, really is nice to see WELL DONE.

It’s had an updating but the food remains the same not home cooked but cheep and cheerful. The outside area has been much improved

I was last in the crown a few months ago as I work away. The ale had started to get very good. But I have to say the range has got much more diverse. Quality was fantastic, titanic plum porter was perfection in a glass!!! Had a rump steak med/rare and it was cooked perfectly. Please keep up the good work.

Went to the crown for a bit to eat and something to drink. Staff were excellent they knew what they were talking about, good range of drinks. I ordered one of the flatbread type pizzas for a starter and the basil pesto pasta with garlic bread for my main. It tasted absolutely brilliant. Food came fast and looked very appetising. The waiting staff were so polite and genuinely looked happy about their job.

No complaints at all. The food arrived in less than 12 minutes and was piping hot. Good range of beers for a chain pub. Staff were friendly.

Over an hours wait for the starters & even longer for the mains!!

While staying in southport we came across this lovely little restaurant! The staff were so welcoming and helpful and the food was amazing! I had the toad in the hole and they were happy to change the mash to chips for me. The sausages were so good and juicy! My friend had the roast chicken and she said it was cooked perfectly. For pudding I had the treacle sponge which ended the meal perfectly! We visited again during our stay and the only downside I would say is I had the halloumi and chips the second time and the portion size was a lot smaller than the previous meal with only 2 small pieces of halloumi which left me still feeling hungry.

Very nice vegan menu ,but they bring me vegan apple pie, with vanilla ice cream, instead of ice cream with coconut milk...i'm lucky that i'm not allergic to cow milk...i have just intolerance...They need to be more careful

Went for a family meal this afternoon to our local and I had steak medium rare. I can honestly say it was the best steak I've had for a very long time. Also very good value for money. Kids loved there food so happy all round. Keep up the good work crown team

We regularly visit the Crown with our dog, she is made welcome with water bowl and biscuits. Food and service very good, friendly staff, and always good choice of real ales.

We went to this Ember inns for the first time on Thursday. The hotel was quite busy. The atmosphere was good. The staff quite attentive,but not pushing to serve you at the bar.

We visited for a celebratory birthday meal on Thursday evening. Having downloaded the Ember Inns app we enjoyed a free bottle of Prosecco with our meal, which was a lovely treat.

Been a few times now and food is always lovely! The menu choice is great, something for everyone, even the fussiest eaters in the family!

Came in for drinks and food, the food portions where good, prices are good and everyone is all friendly will be coming back :)

Well what a disappointment, went for lunch with my daughter.

We went to lunch and were disappointed by the portion sizes of the food we paid over £75 and weren’t happy with the service either.

So the children broke up from school for Easter holidays and we took our well behaved children for some food together as a treat , the guy behind the bar was so rude , abrupt , this is something we have always done on the days the kids break up for the past 7 years , I also go for lunch but never again we had eye rolling , wrong orders , huffing and no please or thank you when serving , he demanded the money with no please just an amount and his hand out then brought cutlery over and threw it on the table , the waiting on / bar lady was lovely as usual and the food was okay ....... I wouldn’t say I will be going back anytime soon , no wonder it’s always quiet!

lovely cosy pub but food & service very lacking. such a shame as the brewery appear to have gone to a lot trouble to make it comfortable but the food is below standard & staff seem to have no handle on time, wait between courses to long but this could be down to staffing levels. Sorry ember Inns but you need to stoke your fire.

Have just waited 30 mins for table to be cleaned and ended up moving plates myself staff ignored me when I asked trivet, then waited 20 mins at bar to be told 45 min wait on food. Need more staff as pub was busy having a party to cater for and a regular rugby team blocking the bar and area to walk it was awful definately not a friendly family pub. Worst Ember Inn I've been to and we have been to others. Poor management.... Wouldn't score this pub even one more like minus....

8 of us Went last night to celebrate a friends birthday, when she booked she was told they where busy & there might be a delay on the food , which there was , got there at 6pm , got my mains at 7.30 and dessert at 8.30 after aking them for it !

Decided to try out the great "new" menu with a couple of friends that was being advertised, well firstly we all struggled to be inspired by anything on the menu, both friends stuck with classic dishes and I tried the asparagus and pesto pasta. Ordered drinks, a double pink gin with lemonade and a double vodka with Pepsi, £10.

We were enjoying a pleasant lunch and chat until the "music" came booming out and utterly drowned our conversation. There was no other available quiet spot, and other customers were also unhappy about the din. There was no staff member at the bar, but we eventually found someone and politely requested that the noise level be reduced. We were informed that the music level is always increased at 2pm to create an atmosphere, as it was then "party time". The volume was not reduced, so we left without further comment, and got our coffees elsewhere, pondering over who might be attracted by this policy. It was however not for us, so we shall not be returning.

Visited The Crown for the first time yesterday and have to say I will definitely be back! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, we had originally just popped in for a drink but decided to stay and have something to eat. I had sirloin steak which was delicious, beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly, my partner had cod and chips and he said it was faultless. The staff told us that there is a new menu coming out this week so we will be back very soon to try something from the new menu!

Me and the better half decided to come here for a drink and a bite to eat! Wonderfully surprised we could bring the dogs so went home and got them. We both had the rib eye very reasonably priced and cooked to perfection. Sat next to the roaring open fire the setting was just perfect we moved on the comfy leather sofas and could of stayed there all night but they have to close sadly. Great choice if drinks and everything reasonably priced. Apparently on a Sunday lunch they have roast sirloin of beef and can get a bottle of wine for £10. Would highly recommend a visit and I'm sure me the Mrs and the dogs will be back. Keep up the good work and thank you x

Average food, average service, average prices. Nothing more to say really. Wouldn't bother if I were you.

The Crown seems to have a new lease of life. . Cask ales spot on. . Steak and ale pie and coffee to finish. . Perfect.

We have visited the Crown four or five times over the last couple of weeks as it is our new "Local". The first two visits were for a couple of rounds of drinks which were enjoyed by everyone, there is a good selection of beers to suit most tastes and the comfort and ambiance is great, the log fires really make a very inviting atmosphere. We have now enjoyed the food offering on two occasions and have no hesitation in recommending it for its quality and value for money. We shall definitely be visiting again soon.

Two open fires and a good atmosphere. Food very good and was served quite fast considering it was quite busy. Bar ans serving staff polite and friendly.

3 of us ordered rump steak on the 2 courses for £10 offer. Other had lasagne which was fine. Steaks were cooked to perfection yet stone cold - chips, onion rings and veg lovely and hot. Waiter was lovely and apologised for the long delay ( which I assume is when our steak was chilling). Shame as it is local to us but we won’t be back anytime soon

Went in for first time since it's been done up. The crown has a real log fire, dart board and a decent line up of 4 real ales on my visit. I tried 3 out of the 4 and they were excellent. Staff were really nice and engaged with the customers .

The bar is really pleasant and has recently been refurbished. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend!

This is a pub with a nice atmosphere. Food was good and the service was friendly. The food is not amazing but is good considering the low cost. Usually have a couple of decent bitters on draft as well.

Up until probably about 6 Weeks ago I had never had a bad pint in the crown. Since then the quality has fallen off badly. To my mind the priority of any pub is the beer quality. I have had bad pints of Wainwright's black sheep and ember which varied between flat and offtaste. On our visit tonight we even sent a pint of Guinness back which had a bad aftertaste to it. The bar tender in defence said we are halfway through the barrell without tasting it or considering any of the other factors that could cause a very bad aftertaste. I suffered the black sheep bitter which also had a bad aftertaste, and did not stick to the glass. Went on to the Richmond and had a superb pint of Holts bitter. I used to enjoy a pint in the crown but will not be returning until they can serve a decent pint. Beer is expensive and I am not prepared to pay for inferior quality beer.

Although it is my local I had virtually stopped going - the real ales were either off or poorly kept and the food and atmosphere were indifferent to say the least. It now seems to be under new management and although I haven't tried the food yet, the beer was excellent. Hope this brings the customers back.

Went for lunch, Tuesday 1.30. Place was almost empty. Pleasant pub interior, clean and with friendly staff.

Quick service, and lovely meals this evening in the crown. Will be returning really enjoyed the sea bass and cooked well.

Family Sunday dinner today, adults and children. Very small portions on the roast dinners. Adult roast dinner had two ( 1/4 of a potato ) roasties and the childs dinner had one solitary (1/4 of a small potato ) roasty. The adult having the steak and ale pie said that was ok but the person with the hunters chicken said it was dry and thin. The place was empty and I'm not suprised. Looking forward to the Spitfire opening to be honest.

Walk your dog to the Crown. . Have 2 pints of cask ale. . Order a "chip tank" (a portion of chips available with various toppings). . Chip tank well cooked and prepared by the kitchen and perfectly presented at the table with a smile by Sian. . Walk dog home. . Life's simple pleasures. .

Visited the crown in birkdale today as we held a family members wake there. I cannot fault the service by all involved. The food was brilliant, higher standard than what we were expecting for a buffet with so much choice. everyone commented how nice everything was I'm just sorry we never ate it all. The chef came out bringing food to the table and kept checking we had enough sauces which I thought was lovely of her, she did a fantastic job and we really enjoyed everything she cooked- hopefully will be back in Southport again soon and we will definitely visit to taste the menu too.

food under cooked, poor service,complained and ignored, expensive, complained on the website, no response, the visit caused illness within 30 minutes of leaving the premises

Had a lovely family meal for my birthday- the half roast chicken and the pasta dish was cooked perfectly. Really generous portions and everyone finished their meals and ordered puddings too- the brownie is our all time favourite!
