A well presented and attractive cafe, but the lunch menu was very disappointing being mainly Thai. In this Cornish mining location we would have preferred more traditional fare, the only plain dish was a fish finger sandwich. Also it was very dear, £12 for a fish finger sandwich with 3 fish fingers and a couple of forkfuls of cole slaw minus dressing. The cake had a soggy bottom. We wished we'd brought sandwiches to eat.

After a visit to the adjacent King Edward Mine Museum (which is certainly worth visiting) we called into The Croust Hut for a late lunch. They were very busy but a table was found for us by the friendly staff. There was a good Asian-influenced choice on the menu and there was a separate Gluten Free menu, which pleased my wife. I had the Teriyaki Brisket Taco and my wife had the Lobster Tail Salad. Both were well presented, deliciously tasting and the portion sizes more than ample. Can certainly recommend.

What a great little cafe. Quiet location surrounded by historic Tin mine engine houses and popular walking trails. Cosy cafe with an interesting menu with Asian influences. Portions are generous and freshly cooked to order. We had the Japanese fish and chips which was tasty and piping hot. Lots of other tempting treats that will require another visit. Can get busy so worth booking to avoid disappointment. A real treat.

Wow! Came for coffee, decided to have lunch and didn't regret it. The food was absolutely delicious. Chicken burger was beautiful. Husband says 'the word burger didn't do it justice, it was more than a burger'. Service was great, staff friendly and welcoming. The only downside to our visit was the wasps, which meant we had to move inside to enjoy our lunch. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent breakfast on a Sunday morning with family in a friendly, bustling atmosphere. I’ve been looking to visit The Croust Hut for some time having seen it listed amongst some of the best places to eat in Cornwall. We have family in Camborne so it’s been in the back of my mind to visit here after travelling from Staffordshire. We booked in advance for a Sunday breakfast sitting and I’m so glad we did as this is clearly a very popular place & we had a pram too. Lovely welcome, attentive friendly staff & a great atmosphere. This really feels like a great local place to support, there were staff of all ages and everyone was keen to help! We had drinks and each had a Cornish Breakfast which was hot, plentiful and delicious! Too busy eating and enjoying to take photos I’m afraid. Competitive prices when I think of other similar offerings & in wonderful surroundings - I’ll definitely be back when we’re next visiting, I’d love to try the lunch menu next time too! I didn’t try the baby change on this occasion but the toilets looked fresh and well maintained when we walked through. There is a stack of children’s toys with a sign letting you know you’re more than welcome to take them back to your table, building blocks, cars etc so this is clearly a family friendly place, our little one just too young to appreciate it yet!

Called here after it was recommended by people at the King Edward Mine Museum. Really friendly staff when ordering, we only had coffee and cakes but the food being served did look good. Indoor and outdoor seating, and dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit and if we are in the area again will be trying something from the menu.

Tempted not to rave about this one as it’s a real gem in the middle of the mine museum and we don’t want to make it too popular so we can’t get in! Fabulously exotic menu drawing from Asian influences such as Malaysia and Korea. Sounds unusual in cornwall but our lunch was well cooked, well presented and it was a bonus being dog friendly. We really enjoyed our lunch of chicken on a waffle (it works), fish and chips, burgers and cheesecake and churros. Highly recommend as it’s a light and airy place with seating inside and out, and not pretentious. Super.

Like other reviews have said, they need to hire more staff or teach the existing ones how to provide a better service when it’s busy. Having moved to the area recently we were really looking forward to visiting the cafe and supporting them with our cash. However, after being seated we waited for 25 minutes to be served. With no end in sight we cut our losses and left, visiting the McColls in Troon instead. We’ll give it another chance, as the food looks good, and we want support it, but we’ll probably go when we expect it to be less busy.

I really love the croust hut BUT they need to hire more front of house staff. The service is often slow when we visit. They should either hire more staff or stop allowing people to come in. The food is great, coffee is good and friendly staff but to get a 5 the service needs to be quicker.

The food is delicious, ample parking, great for walkers. BUTI understand allowing dogs in is good for business but some of us are allergic and not everyone wants to eat with so many wet smelly dogs in one place some of which were under control but some were not and were allowed to run their noses along our table in passing. Also there is a hygiene issue when staff pet the dogs and are seen not to wash their hands. It wouldn't be be too difficult to separate off a dog welcome area from a dog free area and for everyone to enjoy the lovely food comfortably.

We have been going to the Croust Hut ever since it opened. Initially as my other half was keen to show me where he studied when at CSM. Now we go because the food is lovely, the atmosphere relaxed, you can eat in or out..... We have had breakfast, lunch, brunch, Sunday roast and don't get me started on the cakes :-) The specials board allows some tasty variety to the regular menu; and you can have chips cooked in dripping - yum. There really is something for everyone here, and lots to look at and explore around the mine as well. Huge free car park.

The menu changes but this evening there was a choice of 5 mains, from BBQ brisket, Tennessee Pork, Cajun chicken burgers, BBQ aubergine and Applewood burger and Thai marinated squid, then help yourself to three sides of South Western potato salad, honey and mustard salad and Mediterranean Rice Salad all for £7, add in an extra dish for £3.They serve bottles of beer and cider, wine and gin.Service was friendly and professional. We really stumbled over this place looking for the King Edward Mine Museum. So glad we did, the food was exceptional. I had one of the best chowders (black pudding and fish) I've ever tasted. My wife's beer-battered cod and chips (with a curry sauce) were also delicious and in a class of their own. It would have made our trip worthwhile just to have eaten here. Really should not be missed if you are in the area. We did not consider the price unreasonable for food of this quality. How disappointing , after reading the reviews !! lovely spot and a great building and that's where it ends i am sad to say , I think the prices are crazy considering where they are eg £9 for a fish finger sandwich ! the place was nearly empty except for us and 2 other diners . I had a £9 main course of 2 tiny goats cheese borbons , 3 walnuts and a tiny piece of pear and 2 slices of beetroot which was small if it was a starter it was lovely but a very small amount to call this a main course , perhaps do a bit of research adjust your prices and your portions and you will have a full service . The server was very polite and attentive such a shame .

We both had the pork belly (£12) which was fantastic. It was a nice quantity but also to fine dining standards. We spoke to the chef (Sam) who devised the dish and he clearly knows his stuff. He goes to great lengths to get the flavours he wants (like braising the apples in cider for the potato and apple served with the pork). If you eat as well as we did you will be very happy you came here. Keep it up The Croust Hut, great job. p.s. the staff were all really friendly too, nice atmosphere.
