A lovely welcome. Jill & Kevin were more than helpful & accommodating to our requests. All our meals were absolutely delicious from starters through to the beautiful desserts & great coffee. All of us were delighted with everything we had. The Cheese soufflé has always been a winner so we were thrilled to see it’s on the menu as an Autumn special, main. Definitely a winner along with the Pies. Kevin, your chips were incredible & cooked to perfection. Thank you for a wonderful meal. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Astronomical prices for a pub. Over £35 for a main with not a lot on it . Deserts over £10!! Not much choice on the menu, especially if you are vegetarian. Would be good to also have a selection of dishes that are slightly cheaper. It is a pub after all. I personally don't care about the chef's history, I'm just after honest and rightly priced food. London prices in Ladock are way over the top. Look after the locals . Shame , we won't go back.

Very ordinary lunch. Prawn and salmon cocktail contained frozen tiny prawns and were watery. S salmon chopped into pieces so minute they had no taste. Roast pork stringy. Bill was enormous nearly £160 for four with minimal drinks. We shall not return.

This is a little gem … very relaxed and friendly .. chatted with the chef Kevin and he was very accommodating with my gluten free allergy. Service is like being at a friends house warm and professional. Food was fantastic, simple visually but packed with lots of glorious flavour . It’s kind of hidden away but deserves a visit before word of mouth packs it full of customers

Yesterday was one of our many visits to this great eatery and pub. We have now had a number of evening meals over the years since Kevin and Jill took over but even more Sunday lunches which was what yesterday was all about. This place never fails to delight in both the delicious food, expertly cooked - often with a professional twist and the friendly service from all the staff. The Falmouth arms is a must for us when we have visitors to showcase the very best of Cornwall's restaurants and one which we enjoy with friends when all the visitors have gone home and it is quieter. Every single element of the meal we each had was delicious and perfectly prepared from the hake and bass mornay to the roast pork I loved and everybody had to taste! Two of our party declared their roast beef as being perfectly cooked just as they liked it and the accompanying veggies were mouth wateringly good. You can always tell an accomplished chef by the attention to detail and little quirky twists that turn a nice meal into a memorable one. Kevin Viner excels at this, especially with his award winning bread and butter pudding with an apricot brandy glaze. I can't end this review without mentioning the cosy atmosphere and decor. A sort of home from home with a difference, go there and find out for yourself but not too often, I don't want to find all the tables are booked and we can't get in.

Visited with my partner and Uncle for an early supper. The food was fabulous, but I wasn’t that impressed with having a liver pate on my plate when it wasn’t mentioned on the menu - ok, I left it, but I would have preferred to have known and had it left off. Everything else was excellent, couldn’t fault the other dishes at all. The ambience is a little odd with an eclectic mix of bits and pieces, but that’s its style. It was an expensive meal, but eating out is now - I would rather pay a bit more for excellent food that’s memorable. Would definitely go again

This was disappointing. We were really looking forward to our ‘celebrity chef’ night out in Cornwall that we do a couple of times a year. The service was good and we had a pleasant welcome. The bar area lacked something, I think ‘warmth’ it felt a bit dated in its decor. We sat facing a cold wood burner. We didn’t really like all of the ‘award’ plates hanging on every hook and again felt this was a bit dated. Most of the food was delicious, however, we ordered the lamb as a main course and no where on the menu had it stated that it was going to be half a plate of offal. I feel this is unforgivable. I was faced with heart, liver and kidney on my plate which completely ruined the dish. My husband had the beef which again (unmentioned on the menu) had liver pate in the dish which spoilt it completely as it permeated everything. Also of note was the Australian Pinot Noir that we ordered was actually South African. Again an unforgivable mistake from an establishment of this price point. I did raise this with the staff and received an apology but I really felt let down by the experience and we certainly won’t go back. In my day, working in top class restaurants, we would definitely have offered the customer some complimentary drinks or actually I think some reimbursement off the bill would have been an appropriate gesture. But that was not forthcoming.

Having booked a holiday in Ladock, we were excited to see that Kevin Viner had opened a restaurant in The Falmouth Arms, so booked Sunday lunch. We were placed in a delightful small dining room. Mrs Viner brought us dog treats and a bowl of water. The lunch was fabulous, the star turn for me was the twice baked soufflé, stunning. My wife’s bread and butter pudding was also fabulous. The beef and the pork were of the highest quality, and delicious. Thank you so much, we really enjoyed our lunch. Sadly for us you are taking a break or we would have been back.

We had dinner here and stayed over as we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. We were made to feel very welcome by Gill and Kevin and were quickly checked in and shown to our room which was very cosy with a very comfy bed. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but did the job and everything was to hand e.g. plenty of towels, soap, flannels. A fan in the room would have been nice and if we had asked for one, I am sure it would have been provided. The pub and restaurant was beautifully presented, freshly painted and very clean with some interesting artefacts throughout the building. The food was very good. We were given little appetisers while we were waiting for our main course which were exquisite. The menu was a bit limited. We were hoping for some specials but we understand and appreciate that Kevin is the only person in the kitchen and having to cater for a larger menu would be difficult. The food was all freshly cooked. The four main course choices: vegetarian (maybe vegan), fish, beef and lamb. Maybe have chicken instead of two red meats as some people don't like red meat? We didn't have a dessert as we were full but they sounded nice. The cooked breakfast was also good. There was also fresh, warm croissants and fresh melon. The only gripe is the seating. All the locals had taken up the armchairs and sofas and we were left standing at the bar and then sitting in small upright chairs at a table. The bar area is quite small. It's like sitting in someone's front room with everyone engaged in conversation. Unfortunately, after we had eaten and went back to the bar there was still no comfy seating and had to sit back where we were before dinner so retreated to our room. Maybe have some comfy bar stools at least? Overall, they are very generous with everything, very attentive and you won't go hungry. Good value for money.

Oh my goodness!!! This is a little gem, shining in the small village Ladock, Cornwall. I had heard rumours that the heads chefs cooking in this restaurant was special but our experience surpassed all expectations. Service was great; welcoming, coat taken and a aperitif next to a blazing open fire. This place gave me that warm fuzzy feeling from the moment we settled in. Food!! Was amazing!! Scollops to start, an oriental theme and cooked to absolute perfection. Next duck, again cooked to perfection and finished with a delicious tasting jus. I loved the addition of the pink grapefruit in this meal, along with a great mix of root vegetables. Finally pudding, a rich chocolate dessert soaked in liqueur! All in all, a fantastic experience from start to finish and I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!

If you would like an excellent Sunday lunch, the Falmouth Arms hits the spot. We had lamb & pork, served with six fresh vegetables plus roast potatoes & parsnips & a large, light, tasty Yorkshire pudding. Both meats melted in the mouth. 1 course is £17.99 2 courses for £23.99 great value for the quality of the produce used. We were greeted by Jill who was so warm and welcoming, our room (Room 1) was lovely and cosy, with great amenities including homemade biscuits (lovely touch!). The bed was very comfortable and made for a great nights sleep after 3 courses. It was my birthday on the Sunday we were there, after chatting with Kevin about this we came back to two homemade cakes with a ‘Happy Birthday’ note attached which really made my day. All in all, possibly the best bed and breakfast we have had. We were made to feel so welcome, it was lovely chatting to Jill in the mornings during breakfast and also during the evening. Stopped in after a walk and had a wonderful warm welcome. Wished we had stayed for lunch as the menu and food looked stunning. Lovely atmosphere and beer good to boot although drank out of a glass.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.

Haven't stayed, but excellent range of well-kept cask ales including normally a couple from Penzance Brewing Co in Crowlas, near Penzance.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

Wish we had read other reviews first! Very disappointed, outside of hotel and views lovely inside tired and dated. Greeted by a sign on the main entrance explaining to go around the back of the building and ringing to be eventually answered by a polite but rather eerie character. There was no bar on offer over the whole weekend and no dinner available as he wasn't sure if his mother had been shopping!! Unfortunately the bathroom wasn't clean and the breakfast average. On the morning of leaving we received an email to say payment had been taken and we saw no one as we left, a very odd way to run a hotel business!
