We stopped for lunch at the last minute and just about managed to get a table. Food ordered at table but very slow coming out. My daughter’s meal was lovely but I had the macaroni cheese and it was very dry and couldn’t finish it. Not sure I would eat here again which is a shame as it had a good reputation

We returned to The Crossways not having eaten there for a few months. It was great to find that all the elements we like about it remain and that on a Tuesday night the pub was busy. Liver & bacon with bubble and squeak and onion gravy was just perfect. My wife said her chicken with bacon, salad and chips was excellent. Add to this excellent friendly service and a great atmosphere in the pub and why would you go anywhere else? Oh and the bill was really reasonable too!

We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting my daughter who lives close. The room was large, with a nice big bed, there AC which I was very pleased to see as it was hot, the bathroom was a good size and had underfloor heating and the shower was fabulous, thats enough on the room, lets get onto the rest... The bar is large and has an excellent selection of well kept real ales (borne out by all the CAMRA awards on the wall) The food was excellent - the chicken, bacon and leek pie that the wife had was delicious (be aware, it comes in 2 sizes - small and large, the large is L A R G E) we had breakfast as we were residents and the full English breakfast is really good, we have stayed here before and will definitely be staying here again

The best place to stay. Lovely comfortable room and super clean with an excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. The second time we’ve stayed here. The pub has a great variety of decent beers and everyone is so friendly and never a dull moment. You can stay here on your own and you will always be welcome by the staff and locals. Excellent food but you have to reserve as it’s so popular. Great value for money and no problem with parking . Definitely recommend this place to stay

We've been here many times before and it never fails to please us. After such a long wait due to Covid 19, we were finally able to book a table at this lovely pub. Every effort has been made to ensure that guests and staff are kept safe at all times. There is a one-way system in place and the only time you leave your table is for a loo visit! We were shown to our table and promptly asked for our drinks order. Once served, our meal order was taken. Rarely does this happen to the four of us who regularly eat out together, but we all chose the halloumi chips with chilli sauce, delicious! Then we all had steaks, rare, medium rare and two blue, all cooked to perfection. Thinking we couldn't possibly have room for dessert, we all had one. two had icecream, one had white chocolate cheesecake and one a portion of bakewell sponge with creme anglaise. The food here is so very good. The staff go to great lengths to ensure you enjoy your meal. If you want a real treat in a lovely pub this is the one for you.

We popped in for a beer but felt hungry so we had the spicy chicken tower burger and hubby had the 8oz burger. Both came with coleslaw and chips. The chicken burger had mozzarella sticks and hash brown which with the piri piri mayo worked beautifully. The streaky bacon was amazing just melted in your mouth. The burgers are so filling and absolutely gorgeous. The food here is highly recommended. Also the way it is laid out for social distancing has been very well thought through.Well done to the staff and the chef.Dee and Mick

Picked at random but so pleased with our choice. Great atmosphere from minute we entered, servers were enthusiastic and attentive and the food was of a high standard. It’s an award winning CAMRA pub so goes without saying there was a good range of ales, well kept and discounted for CAMRA members. Pity we live so far away or else we’d be there every weekend!

We'd chosen this place based on the reviews we had seen and boy did we make the right choice!Covid-19 makes life a very different experience, but this place has got it spot on! One-way markings around the pub, specific food ordering area and drink ordering at the bar only, the staff don't seem fazed by the current situation. Then the food! We ordered the Deep fried Prawns and Halloumi Fries for starters and once we had tasted these, we knew we were onto a winner! The Halloumi fries had the right level of crispiness and with the chilli jam, they were divine! We had both ordered the 16oz Rump steak and there was no disappointment there! The steak was cooked perfectly and the accompanying items were perfect accompaniments to the meat. And the onion rings! Massive, tasty and crunchy but not oily!Desserts were duly ordered, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess... gorgeous and divine! The staff were excellent, friendly and chatty but not in your face (no pun!) We will definitely be coming back for more!

Pulled into the car park which was almost full and then realised, even though it was Tuesday, there were a lot of christmas 'meals' going on. It was only 7pm and we fully expected to be turned away. Inside we managed to get the only table that wasn't reserved ....after a bit of a misunderstanding about when we could order... we placed an order at 7.20 and was told it would be about 20 mins. Given how busy it was with large parties we were pleased when our food arrived although it was nearer 35-40 mins. The staff were extremely apologetic and after our order had been taken were turning away customers. The food arrived hot and well presented. OH had the gammon which was served with, his choice, pineapple. This was two nice fresh slices that had been griddled. The thick cut piece of gammon was cooked lovely; moist, not salty and tender. I picked the steak, ale and mushroom pie. It was not actually a pie - as it had no bottom or sides just a lid - but it had lots of delicious tender chunks of meat and, best of all, a shortcrust lid. This is what always swings it for me...I prefer a pie with top, sides and bottom and will not, normally, order a 'pot pie'; a dish of pie 'filling', and never one with a puff pastry top...but I am sucker for shortcrust pastry. The pastry did not disappoint and having a jug of extra gravy was nice. The vegetables were great as were the accompaniments for the gammon. We both commented on the quality of the chips - nice and crispy but not over cooked so there was no potato left inside. The staff were pleasant throughout. They had a good selection of real ales and the wine by the glass was very palatable. The million dollar question - would we go there to eat again? ....a big YES, but next time we would book .

Arrived at 1940hrs on Thursday. Had been recommended locally. Asked blonde young wonan at food till if there were any tables coming free, we were happy to wait, told no. On leaving table came free this was well before 8pm. Same unhelpful woman said no the kitchen is too busy. So why not say that and why advertise food until 9pm. Would be more professional and honest on arrival to say, apologies the kitchen is understaffed (or whatever problem was). Shocking. We were a family of four with an elderly unwell parent, no kids and did not pre book as unsure traffic on way and also does advertise food. We left cold, wet to pub up road where we were all welcomed within their advertised service times. We visited on a recommendation but were disappointed with our meal. I had the burger of the day but found it dry and it lacked flavour. Despite the food service was good and the selection of beers and cider were impressive.

My husband and I met here back in 2000 when it was ran by the Ronca Family. We both worked in the kitchen at the time and my husband also lived in one of the rooms upstairs for a while. We decided that for our 14th Wedding Anniversary this year, we’d go back and book a room and reserve a table. We ended up staying for lunch the following day too and made a weekend of it, going for a long walk and seeing the house which I use to live in and finding the tree’s that were planted in memory of our old bosses son. Just as we were leaving we actually bumped into our old boss and barman in the carpark, which finished off our little memory lane trip just lovely. We had a fabulous weekend. Decided to call in with some friends to have a drink and a couple of portions of chips as we had arranged to be picked up later to go to a presentation evening. After purchasing our drinks we asked for 2 portions of chips, we were told that only people who had booked tables could eat, we said again we didn’t want a meal just a snack. It was repeated again the reason, so we drank up and walked about 2 minutes down the road to The Pimpernel where we were greeted with a warm welcome and were able to have food as requested with no problem. We bought several more rounds of drinks and enjoyed every minute there. So Crossways you lost out on a lot of business from us because you couldn’t serve a couple of portions of chips. As a former owner of her own catering business you need to sort out your chef as one of your waitresses said the chef couldn’t cope with anything else unless we had booked

This somewhat unassuming pub/restaurant/hotel provided 4 of us with superb meals last night. I had a lovely curried salmon while my friends had equally excellent beef and ale pie, sausages and curried chicken. The chips were amazing.

A starter of 4 chilli king prawns was our starter followed by rump steak medium rare which was delicious but the gammon with pineapple was disappointing. The gammon was exceptionally thick cut and was described as ‘very piggy’. I have never seen a slice of fresh pineapple served in this way. It was just sliced with no preparation. Not peeled or cored or part grilled. The dessert ice cream was very tasty. We have visited many times and hope to have a more successful visit in future.

Always a good pint at the Crossways. Quality of the food is good and reasonable value. But it's the ale you go for.

Had a lovely lunch today, a decent vegan option on the menu (I didn’t have it as was to much to eat too early- but it looked lovely! Had a jacket potato!) and the staff were lovely, really attentive and friendly. Only downside is no vegan desert options! Only sad because I love a desert!

The food was very good, the waitresses who served us were very nice however the man who accused us of ALL acting like children and advised that we should be ashamed of ourselves was very insulting. I am assuming that this was the owner of the premises, to publicly shout at a group of 22 people whilst waiting for their starter - rather than addressing any issues directly with maybe one particular person was a disgrace to the industry of which we have many years past experience. I will not be recommending this as a place to meet or eat owing to this incident.

We had a group of ten of us for a lunchtime family function, so we ordered a variety of starters and mains, and some deserts. Everyone commented on how nice their food was. The service was also excellent and quick. We would all thoroughly recommend the Crossways Inn. Cost per head was around £23 including a round of drinks and coffee's afterwards.

Had a meal here a few nights ago with some friends. One of the best pub meals we have had in a long time.Restaurant quality. Great food served by friendly, helpful staff. We were made to feel really welcome. It has a varried menu, and specials. The tables are not cramped together. One word of advice, make sure you book, this place is really popular with locals and holidaymakers.

Great staff who are always helpful and friendly, booked late but had a great table in the dining room with a window view. Sunday lunch which was exceptional, we both ordered beef which was fantastic, and I had the sticky toffee pudding and my husband had the rhubarb crumble. We both love the crossways and today was no exception. Thank you.

We typically stay in Burnham On Sea, around a 20 minute drive away, when we do, we always visit The Crossways, if you are a real ale drinker, you will be impressed with the range of ales and ciders on offer, if you are a Camra member, you also get a discount off their beers, though they only serve food at set times, the choice is great, with a full on specials menu board and great desserts

AMAZING I’m still sat inside wondering how I’m going to muster the energy to move. I’ve just destroyed the pie of the day, steak and ale. A lovely pastry covering half a cow. This coupled with a host of ciders, I may be here for some time

I’m so happy to see this pub supporting the LGTVHD+ community!! I was having a meal here recently and the chirpy chef with the fish tattoos was wearing a pride hat, so courageous to be walking around your place of work so openly!! Massive respect for the place being so supportive, will certainly visit again!!

Excellent food and lovely building! We came here as part of a trip to Cheddar for my partners 40th, glad I trusted the reviews and chose The Bath Arms. I had the mushroom and celeriac strudel which was delicious and different from the usual veggie options you see elsewhere. My partner had the steak pie, which he said was very good and filled up with meat. The chips he had also looked incredible! All in all, a very nice birthday meal!

Good food as always, but…the menu doesn’t highlight vegetarian options accurately. I queried a pizza with rocket pesto (vegetarian hard cheese as opposed to parmesan) - the waitress had to check then returned confirming the presence of parmesan. I then commented that in that case it wasn’t vegetarian. There was also a starter with burrata that had a ‘v’ next to it but I have yet to find a vegetarian version of this cheese.
