The Cross Keys Inn in Wychavon

Myself and 13 others of our walking group booked for lunch after our walk yesterday. I hadn't been in the Cross Keys for some time but I shall certainly go there more often. We were very well looked after and felt very welcome. We were seated on one long table which was ideal for our usual chatter. The food was excellent and great value for money, especially the autumn set menu - 2 courses for £12. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Ordered pizzas, probably the worst pizza we ever had. Cheap base , made up with additional topping which didn't improve things.

Our birthdays are days apart so we decided on a quiet Sunday roast with all the trimmings for our joint birthday meal out... our first choice let us down and not surprisingly everywhere else we tried had no room at the inn at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. Then we happened upon the Cross Keys who offered to serve us the restaurant food, just sat in the bar area, which was quiet, comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed a really good roast dinner with all the trimmings. One had a starter. the other a traditional Sunday dessert (crumble with custard!!!). We enjoyed the food, left pleasantly full and at our own pace. The staff were friendly and professional we were left alone but kept an eye on...so when we did need something.... the service was there and with a smile....will definitely be going back.

Another amazing Sunday lunch, food superb, staff extremely attentive and all for a very reasonable price. would definitely recommend for the Sunday lunch or any other meal, varied manu to suit all tastes.

Very pleasant staff with a good welcome on arrival. Service was perfect and professional. Food was very good if a little on the pricey side (a reflection of our times ?) The set menu was good value and reasonably priced. I chose this restaurant as a midway meeting point for family knowing there would be no parking issues Would certainly go again if in the area.

We had food here the day before our wedding and actually had our wedding meal here too. Both meals were absolutely beautiful, the steak was cooked perfectly. All 3 courses of both days I could not fault, staff were kind and went out their way to make sure everything was perfect for our wedding meal. We had the back room, which was secluded to the rest of the pub, it was quiet and intimate which is exactly what we wanted! They opened the pub early enough for us to dress the room and everything was just went to plan effortlessly.

i have been meaning to revisit since my last visit in 2020, but due to covid etc i never got around to it , my lunch visit was a joy , excellent food , convivial surroundings and great staff. definitely will revisit very soon . the only downside was the car park and the exit onto the main road

The Cross Keys Inn served us an excellent Xmas lunch. The service was attentive, speedy and good humoured. The portions generous and the vegetables fresh and not overcooked. Excellent choice of beers. My only gripe and this is no fault of the pub is that it is an extremely dangerous exit from the car park onto a main road with absolutely no view to the right. It is necessary to pull out “blind” and trust that traffic gives way. That apart it’s full marks to the pub/restaurant and the staff.

Friendly welcome and service. Good choice on the menu, we opted for the set menu and were not disappointed. The food was cooked & presented well and the portions were of a good size too. Service was busy not surprising at this time of year but we didn't feel rushed at all. Will definitely return.

Twelve of us recently enjoyed an evening meal to celebrate a friend's birthday. The atmosphere was lovely and we received excellent service, including one friend's dietary requirements being willingly provided for. The food was really enjoyable, so much so, that I have booked to have the Christmas menu lunch with hubby and a friend the week before Christmas .

There was a good choice for Sunday Roast. We all had roast beef, which came with all the trimmings. We were told to ask for more veg if we needed & we did ask for more cauli cheese as it was only a small amount for 4 of us. Surprised to see we had been charged £3.50 for it. Good choice of puds too. Food and service were good, the waitress was really lovely. However we left feeling disappointed which over shadowed our lovely evening - we booked as a large party with 3 kids. My 2 year old changed her mind having the sauce mixed in with her penne pasta, and wanted it separate (she’s 2!), and the waitress kindly changed it. We didn’t expect to get charged the £8 extra for a bowl of kids pasta and sauce, as it was only pasta! I understand if it was any other item that costs a lot more (we wouldn’t have sent it back, we would have eaten it between us if we knew!). The Young Diners menu comes with ice cream, and we only ordered 2 as my niece didn’t fancy it (our choice I know). So really as we paid for 4 kids menu, we saved the restaurant 2 ice creams… sounds pedantic but we felt the owner was! He came over when we queried the bill, and he just said “well we had to throw it away”. I said we appreciate that, but it was only pasta which doesn’t cost loads (and doesn’t amount to £8 worth, despite the sauce on the side). He didn’t accept this, which is fine and his choice, and we paid the bill with it on. I’ve seen some of the manager’s replies on here, and don’t worry we won’t visit again.

Decided to try out the Cross Keys for a lunchtime reunion with cousins from overseas, plus three friends, plus well-behaved dog. The menu was good, with an impressive selection of gluten free options for a Coeliac. Service was prompt, non-intrusive, professional and attentive. Our food was well cooked, tasty and nicely presented - the plaice, chosen by three guests, was particularly delicious. The ambience was very pleasant. A great success all round - thank you!

It is so much easier to write a good review than one highlighting problems. In April I came here and had a really good experience. I gave The Cross Keys a five star review. In recent times I have regarded The Cross Keys as a safe pair of hands. On several occassions we have escaped to here for a bit of relief from the stresses of everyday living. The last vist was not a happy experience and I have not returned since. Because I am vegetarian I am often faced with limited choice on a menu. To make things worse I opt for healthy eating low calorie choices. The only thing on the menu I wanted and could eat was a heritage tomato salad. It was not available. It was suggested I could have halloumi cheese instead of mozzarella but that is chewy and not appropriate. The whole experience was unsatisfactory Yesterday I went to the Riverside Inn and had the perfect heritage tomato salad. The Riverside Inn is only ten minutes away fromThe Cross Keys and it was worth the effort. Realistically I may come back to the Cross Keys. It is dog friendly and I have had happy times here. Could do without the fairy lights in the bar. This is an old building with history. Fairy lights do nothing to enhance the atmosphire. My advice is to come here and experience things for your self. I have had good times here.

Absolutely love this pub. The food is always great quality and beautifully cooked. The service is exceptional, the surroundings lovely and relaxing, and there is always something different on the menu. I also love that there is always a separate menu of fresh fish specials on as well. It is great to find a menu with some imagination and flair, as well as offering traditional favourites. The ingredients are always great quality and they really know how to cook here! This is my favourite place to eat… always a joy !

We had our first take away meals yesterday and it was superb Our host Nic has arranged a super menu of main course and dessert that you order between 10am & 12 noon on Thursday, Friday & Saturday and collect from the car park the same evening at a pre arranged time. Superb quality and excellent quantity. Heartily recommended

My wife and I had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. The menu was varied with really nice choices. Both of us enjoyed the meal coupled with friendly service and pleasant environment. We definitely will go back and recommend it.

Called in on the off chance on the way home and was able to get a table easily, not many people were eating but maybe because they are worried about COVID-19, if not I'm not sure why more people weren't there. We had the haddock and chips, fish was very fresh and the batter crispy and the chips were crunchy and delicious and also very hot! Good service and great food - what more do you want?

Since the pub reopened in December 2019 we have eaten here on a number of occasions and have found the food to be good quality. Unfortunately our latest visit for a family meal was a real disappointment. We all ordered the beef sunday lunch but the portions were small with quite a bit of fat on the two thin pieces of meat served to each person - also some of the vegetables were undercooked. At £18 a head the meal was not value for money. The same meal when the pub opened was entirely different with large portions and based on this we made several recommendations to friends to visit.We raised our concerns with the staff and whilst they were apologetic , making "all the right noises" their attitude was not customer orientated and whilst we didnt ask for a gesture of goodwill there was none forthcoming. We were told that the matter would be raised with the managenment but what does that achieve after the event.Hopefully this was just a blip because it would be sad to see that the earlier high standard of food and service has gone.

The food was very good but would have preferred larger portions. I had a special Hake which came with kale and butter beans, delicious but not enough. My husband had the lamb and for the cost he expected quite slot of lamb not 6/7 pieces.

Really enjoyed lunch today at this Pub. Really friendly staff, and great quality beer and food. The pea risotto hit the spot and the Special Halibut was excellent. Highly recommended.

Hubby and I dropped in on the offchance. Plenty of parking at rear of pub. Greeted with a welcoming smile. Had a table by the fire; nice and cosy. Table service by lovely friendly and helpful staff. Limited veggie options but what we chose was fabulous and first class. Prices at top end for pub food but it's more top end restaurant food, than pub grub and we are happy to pay a little more for great quality. Great pint of HPA too, always a bonus for Hubby! May have found best pub chips for miles. So lovely to see this little gem up and running again. They deserve to do really well producing food of such an excellent standard.

Every now and then you find a gem of a place. Fantastic team , welcoming place, super comfy and food that deserves to be in any top 10. We were recommended to come here and it delivered. 2 prawn cocktail starters (done exceptionally well) , followed by a simply blow out lasagne. How to explain it probably doesn't do it justice. But I'd say de constructed is probably a good start. Not a molten, hot as the sun, as expected, but fresh lasagne pasta with goats cheese, aubergines and goats cheese. This is seriously good !! Visited again to try under the new management and absolutely delighted with the food and service. Good choice for the veggie with us and excellent fish choices - it was a Friday. Impressed to be shown a wine list for a glass of wine but the beer choice is really good as well.

Came here early afternoon lovely welcome , Sam was fabulous as where all the other staff. Food was lovely . Would I return here absolutely couldn’t fault a thing . Had a lovely afternoon with my family thank you cross keys for a nice afternoon . Hope to be returning soon .

I'm a Vegan, so was pleased to be advised on booking that there would be three vegan options available. However, when we arrived there was only one. This was a very pleasant Pea Risotto; lovely but I've only been offered & eaten Pea Risotto each time we have eaten there. I realise that if I book 45mins before arriving, then I haven't really given them the chance to offer other options but even a nice green salad is an easy to prepare option.

The table was for four and the meals came quite quickly.

Just returned from the pub. This is a pub that we have used many times over the years as we live in Ombersley. We did find the menu a little limited compared to the last owners but everyone does things differently and the quality of the food served was very good. However, I did have to ask them to go and clean the ladies toilets as the appeared not to have been cleaned for some time. The male front of house explained that one of the toilets had screw problems with the seat that left debris over the toilet. Find it hard to believe how a screw problem would produce hair and urine and the other toilet was a over site as he had cleaned the the toilets himself that morning. I would ask the new owner to look very closely at this as the floor in the toilet was filthy with a lot of debris on the floor. If this is what the standard of front of house is on public display people will wonder what the kitchen area is like that is not accessible to the public. The young waitress who served our table was very friendly and attentive. We were disappointed to receive the bill at the end off the meal to discover we had been charged for drinks we did not have. We were refunded for these as we had already paid the bill before we realised we had been over charged. I’m not sure we will return with the issues we experienced. Mistakes can be made but uncleanliness In a food establishment is not acceptable.

Mid-week lunch only a few days after the re-opening. Staff were engaging, polite and the food was served quickly. Most enjoyable meal, will return.

Our first visit to this newly refurbished/new ownership country pub. Very friendly welcome and can’t say enough about the Sunday lunch. We all had a different meat and all were cooked to perfection. Very generous portion and great tasting. We live locally and eat out regularly and can honestly say this was the beat Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time.

Newly renovated and reopened, by FAR the BEST food and service in the village. Elliot is particularly customer focused and has trained all the staff extremely well. Food was perfect and presently well. Service was very good but discreet.

Me and my wife called in on the off chance the new owners had started serving food. I was not disappointed. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes. I opted for the “Boston short rib 22oz with sautéed asparagus and Triple cooked chips” It was cooked to perfection and was a high quality piece of meat. My wife went for the Goan Curry and absolutely loved it. We will be returning soon to celebrate our anniversary but without the car as the wife spotted the “bubble bath” - the selection of champagnes on offer - fully recommended.

The Cross Keys is now open again after it's refurb and new ownership. We ate on their first night open (Saturday) and are glad we went as I think it will get very busy very soon. They are starting slowly so only 4 tables were available but more being introduced today (Sunday). The staff very very attentive and their was a good mix of people in the bar area enjoying the beers.

We loved this pub especially as we could get great food and the dog could accompany us in the bar area. So we were very disappointed today to find it has now closed and is looking for new tenants.

A Friday night and we were surprised to be the only ‘booked’ table, although a few others were eating. We’ve been a few times before and always had good food, but this was sadly not great. The starters were rather bland (Calamari and also Brie) and the pate on the rather wet side (more of a parfait). The mains were really salty for some reason - the burgers had over-seasoned chips and smoked bacon which didn’t help. The steak pie was also a little too salty. We spoke to the manager(?) and staff about this, who promised to look into it. Can’t fault the service at all..... but a bad experience with the food.

10 of us went for Sunday Lunch after watching the rugby. Due to a parking problem at the statuim we where 1 hour late we did inform them . The staff were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. We were seated in a smaller room with another table already there. We all ordered starters which were all delicious . All but one of us had Sunday lunch and let me say omg the portion size was amazing. It all looked and tasted fantastic. We all struggled to finish it. The staff where so happy to provide extra gravy.

Beautiful venue - never disappointed with the food or the service. We are regulars here and often visit, however our last visit was exceptional.

We have been infrequent visitors to the Cross Keys over the years, but in December 2018 we went for my brthday and On Sat 30 Mar 2019 we went for my wife's birthday. In December the service was slow but just about ok. On Saturday, I am sorry to say that the service was woeful. We got there at 6:20 having booked a table in the restaurant. We ordered mains (after quite a wait and me going up to the bar to order in the end) and ended up eating just before 8! Other tables seemed to be similarly afflicted by delays. There were empty tables in the restuarant so I don't think they were particularly overrun although it was fairly busy in there. There was a conspicuous lack of waiting staff. The food itself was good but the very slow service did put a bit of a damper on the evening. Shame as we do like the place.

We ate here last week and as we pulled up in the car park and saw the broken fencing, I suspected it had lost its "smartness"!!! This was further confirmed as we walked past the conservatory and saw the peeling paintwork, and then we entered to greasy carpets and the fake fires.
