What a lovely place to stay! - A warm welcome from friendly and professional staff - followed by booking into a well positioned, well maintained and very clean room. The restaurant food for our evening meals for both nights or our stay was of the highest standard, and we were served by delightful waiting staff who were attentive throughout. The breakfast options were many and varied - beautifully cooked and presented. All in all a wonderful experience. We will, without doubt, stay again in the future. Thankyou

Stayed at this lovely hotel as an overnight stay en route to Cornwall. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our golden retriever Rosie was also welcomed! Nothing seemed to be a bother for them. Warm welcome, nice selection of food.staff attentive. My only moan as we were paying at the bar the chap taking our payment started talking to another customer rather than saying please wait a moment so we had no personal customer contact ,never asked if we were club members, have a nice day etc and as we were paying a bill of nearly £200 I think abit of customer service would have gone down well ,if you don't need us to return then carry on .

Went for an impromptu late lunch with 2 kids and grandparents. Beautiful country pub with amble outdoor seating and a kids play park. We had the pie of the day- chicken and leek, BBQ pulled pork burger, calamari, smoked mackerel, kids cheese pizza, and kids sausage and chips followed by sticky date pudding, after eight ice cream, biscoff doughnuts, and a kids ice cream. Food was delicious! And really good portions! Drinks went down well in the beer garden next to the park. Service was impeccable with very friendly staff. Waiter was playful to our toddler and everyone seemed happy. Such a gem of a place that we will be returning to!

A friendly and helpful staff goes some way to make up for the problems. Access to our room was via a dark and twisting staircase with risers of varying heights, and the threshold with another, almost invisible, little step, an invitation to stumble. No help was offered with our suitcase, although we're in our 70's and 80's respectively. Huge room with elegant, if sparse, furnishing, only one armchair (split seam), no coffee table, a TV remote that was dirty and dysfunctional (batteries?). We had to hang a blanket over the screen to eliminate the glare overnight, as it would not turn off. With pretty countryside all around, our super deluxe room looked out onto the parking area. Very mean provision of biscuits for tea (two teensy shortbreads in the bottom of a jar smeared with previous use), and a thermos of milk which was handed to me sticky on the outside. Not quite what we could have hoped for, at this price.

MORE AT Google

The Hadley Bowling Green Inn is a pub of possibilities or, possibly, possibles. It is possible that the crown bowling green from which it gets it’s name and which is still, I believe, in active service just outside its doors is “possibly” the oldest such bowling green in the country. It would appear it’s been making bowling just that little bit trickier by being “crowned” for around 450 years to date. It is also “possible” (but possibly not probable) that Guy Fawkes spent time at the inn during the summer of 1604 while he was busy plotting the overthrow of James I with half of Warwickshire. There’s a board just inside the door which claims “It is documented” that Guido Fawkes (as he liked to be known - despite the fact he was from Yorkshire) spent a “considerable amount of time” here plotting. It doesn’t go into detail where it is documented and who, apart from the pub itself, says he was there but I guess it is possible. After all Robert Catesby (chief plotter and ancestor of Game of Thrones actor and semi-local lad Kit Harrington) came from not all that far away in Warwickshire. It is known though that the plotters were busy being dastardly in London in May and June 1604 so quite how much of the summer of that year Guy had to hang about and (possibly) play bowls in Worcestershire is hard to tell. We came for meal here because we’ve frequently driven past the brown sign on the Ombersley to Droitwich road and said to ourselves “we must go there one day”. That day happened to coincide with a wedding anniversary which is always a good excuse to try somewhere new. When I say new, I mean new to us of course, the pub has been here for a good 500 years or more. It was new(ish) when Mr Fawkes and his merry band of conspirators may, or may not, have been here but it’s certainly not new now. It is however, beautiful, characterful, friendly, charming, atmospheric, olde and worlde. Imagine the quintessential English country inn (hand pulled beer, wooden beams, real fires, confusing layout) and you have just imagined the Hadley Bowling Green. The food is pub grub but it’s good pub grub. Very good pub grub. Very, very good pub grub in a very, very good pub. The beer is proper beer. Very good proper beer. Very good proper beer in a very good proper beer pub. The service was great too. Fast, friendly, efficient. I’m not sure what else you would want from an English country pub. If you happen to be in Worcestershire (or even Warwickshire) and are in the market for a country pub experience, head off to the Hadley Bowling Green Inn, you won’t be disappointed. We weren’t.

Food has gone downhill recently. This used to be a great place to eat, but the prices have gone up and the quantity and quality of food has gone down. For the price of these meals, we’ve had much better quality for less at other local restaurants. The picture I attached was of the plant based burger priced at £17.50. No effort made at all, all ingredients seemed to be the cheapest available. The kids pizzas (£7.95 with NO sides) were clearly supermarket frozen pizzas and even the kids didn’t like them. We hade a pork special which was over £23! Which was “Nice but not much flavour” All portions were under sized, and not just for the price but just not enough for anyone.

We arrived for a pre-booked Father’s Day meal at 4:30pm. We were sat down and given menus, once we had browsed the menus and decided what we would like while waiting for someone to come take our drinks order. We were then advised when someone did finally come over to take our drinks order that they had run out of half the menu. No cauliflower cheese, none of the starters. The alternating options then offered in replacement of the set menu advertised did not compare. So we made do with just a main course each, at £21 per roast. The chicken roast was more bone than meat content, with the chicken drumstick, and thigh and the pork was dry and inedible. The beef was nicely cooked it was let down though by the fact most of the food was luke warm at best. You had to cut the mash potato with a knife on the children’s meal it was so solid. All of us were dissatisfied completely. We had 4 children with us age 5-20 in our party of 6 and all said they had wished I had cooked at home instead. So did I when the bill arrived £170, for substandard food and sub standard service. A main each and 2 drinks. If a pub knows you have bookings they should be prepared for this especially on pre booked busy days. I feel for anyone booked in later on, with their 6pm plus bookings. I’m not sure they could cope and we definitely noticed it. My husband wanted to take the service charge off the bill when they automatically add 10% but I never feel comfortable with confrontation and complaining so to be honest we just paid, and sat outside to finish our drinks. We definitely won’t return to eat there again though ! The £4.25 portion of chips we ordered for our youngest as the mash was so inedible was definitely beyond belief when the miniature bowl arrived. Honestly would not recommend for any special event or meal and it’s far too over priced for general Sunday outings.

Disappointed at this visit. £17.50 for a ‘pot pie’ which was 90%runny gravy, 8% flaky topping and 2%beef and mushroom. They had the gall to serve it with extra gravy which was utterly unnecessary and a paltry handful of chips. Wife’s salad was nice though but hey, you can’t mess up a salad. She also ordered ‘posh fries’ which was supposed to be sprinkled with chives. When this was pointed out the waitress failed to take the offending dish away but brought some chopped chives in a dish. The saving grace was it wasn’t raining when we left.

A return two night stay. We were welcomed back with a warm greeting by the manager who genuinely cares about ensuring customers receive good hospitality. Our rooms were very clean, quiet & beds comfortable. Plenty of teas, luxury hot chocolate sachet, fresh ground coffee with cafetiere & flask of cold milk. Also lovely little home made GF pistachio biscuits each day! The restaurant & bar are tastefully decorated, creating a cosy atmosphere. A roaring log fire crackles away on cooler days. We were impressed by the well considered dinner menu, delicious food served on hot plates, wide selection of beers, wines & spirits on offer. Breakfast menu offers options to cater for all tastes, choices are taken the night before and freshly cooked to order, not left sitting under a seat lamp. Only slight negative is the poorly lit stairs and landing which are are ripe for redecoration. The rather low split handrail urgently needs replacing by one continuous length on the steep, narrow staircase. Not easy to navigate with luggage in hand! Finally, a round of applause for Chris, (who went the extra mile), & his friendly super team who have created just the right vibe here. Thank you. Certainly top of our list when we visit the area, we would recommend without hesitation.

The first time we've visited the pub on 22nd March 2024. A pleasant looking pub externally in a quiet location. Inside from the bit we saw was nice and welcoming, with charm. We had 2 mains. My wife enjoyed hers, where mine was ok. A pie, large in size, yet practically empty, and what it did contain was not optimal. The vegetables were only kale, along with mash. The lamb in the pie was minimal and not tender. Beer was good and desserts fine. We would go again, but only for drinks.

Lovely birthday lunch today. Friendly ,happy ,attentive staff ,especially Donna who made a lovely fuss of our dogs. Excellent food, generous portions and very tasty. Comfortable and cosy atmosphere. We have been here before and it is a favourite place for us. It has always been a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.

Staff very friendly and efficient, food and beer very nice. Only gripe being the room wasn't very warm at night.

Brilliant lunch time meal. I’m GF and the menu was brilliant. Lottie, our server, was really knowledgeable and talked me through the menu. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

We didn't use the hotel, just met with friends for a meal. It was cold as a problem with their fire, but a heater was soon found to keep warm, but as our table was by the door, it was still very drafty. We had reserved the table, and it was busy , so we didn't ask for a different table. Perhaps we should have. There was one vegetarian in our group who found it impossible to order anything without mushrooms. We were helped by the waitress who did her best, and eventually, a flatbread was ordered, and a side of chips encoraged. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. On ordering an after 8 dessert, there was no mint chocolate ice cream, so again encoraged to choose chocolate, which was a simple scoop of chocolate ice cream with a twirl and a few mint chips. Very disappointing.

Lovely impromptu meal out on a Wednesday night with my husband. Relaxed atmosphere, reasonably priced food which was excellent quality and all accompanied by friendly staff, especially Sarah.

Need to talk politics with your pals in isolation from the big bad world? What better place to do so than one where Guy Fawkes did? Not only that but you get your name on the table if you reserve online! As for the food, traditional pub grub at its best, and more. And for our American friends, the onion rings are the real deal!

We had a great time here after a 2 mile walk on the public foot paths from Buckland on a Sunday afternoon. We were delighted to see the shoe covers for our Wellies as the paths were quite mucky. Pip, our server, was personable, fun and gracious. The views are just stunning! All four of us highly recommend this spot!

Changed a lot since my last review the wine selection is hit and miss but everything else seems the same, except the atmosphere which feels a tad down, still busy though.
