The Crooked Billet in South Bucks

Came for lunch with my daughter and we had a lovely meal. Food was nice cooked by Chris and the staff were friendly. Special thanks to Evie who was very attentive and kept my daughter smiling.

Lexi and aaliyah were very lovely and welcoming. Food and drinks were nice :) was just a little bit cold in the building. Other than that great experience would come again!

The crooked billet has really turned itself round over the last few years. We live local and had visited several times a few years ago and it wasn't great, and hadn't visited for a good few years. But we tried it again this year and our last several visits have been great. Food has been so good, the staff are great, and I recommend this restaurant.

We eat here regularly but the last couple weeks the standard seems to be falling , nobody comes and asks if your meal is alright anymore , and today the fish was so burnt it was awful .my partner had to wait a good 10 minutes to get a beet at the bar

Staff lexi and Aaliyah very friendly and helpful. Food was presented well and very tasty. And very good portion size. There is a wide menu selection. Would definitely recommend.

Service was amazing, very pleasant, welcoming. The establishment was clean on arrival. The food was up to a high standard. I couldn’t fault the service. I will definitely be back and will recommend to friends.

Dirty sticky floors and tables. Had to walk out. Won't be eating here. Haven't had a problem in the past, hopefully it's just a one off.

Chris was friendly and helpful, the food came quickly and was hot. Great size of portion for our little two as well. Also easy to make swaps for intolerances.

I Visited today as it was Father’s Day, pre booked a table and chose the Father’s Day menu. Upon arrival I was told I only had the table for 1 hour 45 minutes, didn’t think this would be a problem. Taken to our reserved table, pulled out the menus (no Father’s Day menus) which were sticky. No children’s colouring had been left in the children’s menus. Went to the bar to order food, only to be told this was an hour wait for food. 1 hour 15 minutes later the food arrived and I was very disappointed, food luke warm and small portion sizes. Children’s pizza only 3 small slices each, and the pasta bolognese was cold and tasteless. Burger was pink in the middle of one. The other had bacon which you could hardly find it was that small. Turkey Sunday roast - turkey was hard, mash was dry with a crust roast potatoes small and dry, Looked more like a frozen ready meal put on a plate. Each member of our party left disappointed and hungry.

Amazing place Lexi and Chris where wonderful helped me out with all my questions, food was amazing and couldn’t go wrong with the donut!!

We were served by Lexi and Nancy and they were both lovely as usual me and my mum really enjoyed the food and we are a regular visitor in the pub and they always go above and beyond and our chef Jamie I couldn't complain even if I wanted to it was a beautiful meal

Would highly recommend this pub. Loads of parking, clean and tidy and the staff were helpful. The service was second to none actually they were friendly and cheery. The food was delicious hot and fresh and cooked well. I had the ‘Home Run’ burger which was yum. Will be heading there again thank you all. The review card given said served by Lexi and the chef was Jamie so thank you both.

Waiting time for food wasn't long after ordering. Ample car parking available which I like as I require extra space to get out of the vehicle. Service was amazing.

Yet again, amazing food, quality is second to none. The food was very well cooked, Great portion sizes. Great service Empty tables cleared as soon as people leave, no mess anywhere.

Lovely mothers day meal. Got given a rose on arrival and free drink at the bar! All the staff were lovely and accomodating, especially Chris who was a great laugh when serving us desserts and Tilly who was very nice when ordering (and i even forgot to order desserts and she sorted straight away). We ordered the kids pasta, beyond meat burger and the gravy one burger, which were all very well cooked and tasted great. Will definitely be back

Eaten here many times over the years. We moved away 3 years ago, but we are down visiting. So 4 family members needed a quick meal after travelling. Did book online. When ordering we were told food would be approx 1/2hr which was fine. Meals ranged from.. steak meat pie, chips and peas, 2 burger meals, and I had Mac n Cheese, side salad and a portion chips, very happy with the food. Hungry Horse restaurants are busy family places, we did move to bar area to finish drinks and the men played couple games of pool. There is a £10 charge for the cues which is refunded the games cost £1.50 each. Very happy with our meals and time spent at this restaurant

We came for a family birthday, this is a great venue for celebrations, just a bite or even a drink. Great atmosphere and lovely food.

Stopped here for a coffee break. We were served by Lexi, very welcoming and friendly. Good coffee, very quick service. Good place for a quick coffee or snack.

I arranged a stop off at the Crooked Billet for a coach of 45 Cardiff City fans yesterday on route to Watford. Great food and drinks and we chilled in a relaxing atmosphere for around 2 hours. Many thanks to Lexi for making all the necessary arrangements and we'll definitely be back!!

Friday night at the Crooked billet... 1 young blonde lady behing the bar and queue of ppl waiting to be served..... this is at 7.20pm so check ur cctv, shocking and sad tbh....hence ppl are leaving the trade due to no support, and i work in the trade so know the pain full well

Very local place with a lot to choose from at a reasonable price. Been here multiple times now and every time have been good. But I must say that attending last weekend, Chris made our visit a little better with his great response as we had a small matter. Very polite and so helpful and hard working. Keep up the good work!

Underwhelming! I ‘popped in’ for pint for the first time in many years. The Gents facilities were appalling - the first one in the pub section was locked with a sign redirecting customers to the facilities in the restaurant area. Those in the restaurant area...

Came recently to use a gift card that I’d had knocking around. Didn’t need to book, plenty of available tables as it’s a big venue. Only two front of house staff who could have become overwhelmed but seemed on top of things. Ordered at the bar but online ordering is possible. Friendly staff.Good range of food on the menu and very reasonable prices. Had a chicken New Yorker, upsized to a large one. Very good chicken, could have melted in the mouth. Great flavours. Sides of onion rings, fries, peas and tomato all pretty standard. Good place, plenty of parking and spacious.

Took my girls for breakfast with Santa this morning. £6per head, breakfast, Santa's grotto with gifts, really good price!! A separate christmas crafts table was set up for the kids. Great food, staff were dressed up and really welcoming. Kids had a great time!

The quality of the food was poor. The nachos were cold- as advertised- my mistake, but they tasted like cardboard and had much too much sauce.The steak was gristly and difficult to cut, even with a steak knife.This was the first time my husband and I have had the opportunity to eat out in a very long time, and we wish that we had not bothered, or that we had gone somewhere else.

We were a large party and found the service was quick all our food came out together and we didn't need to wait long great food we were served by the manager who was lovely and accommodating booked again for the next family birthday

Firstly, this aint the sort of place to come to if you want to have a fancy meal or if you want somewhere with an amazing atmosphere. This pub is sort of like a wetherspoons and it attracts families often with young children because of the prices. You have to expect the odd screaming baby. Saying that. You can easily come here to have food or drinks or both at a very reasonable price and for that price i tjink the food is excellent. Weve been here a few times with the kids and theh love it. Food was hot and served quickly. Very tasty, zero complaints. We paid just over £20 for the lot including alcohol for the adults.

We went here for a family meal. Without doubt.. it wasn’t our choice, however, we accepted it and went with an open mind. Firstly, on entrance into the restaurant we were greeted by staff and shown to the table. We had a table for the size of our party, however, it was squeezed in, which made getting in and out very difficult. It would have been easier for them to place us elsewhere in the restaurant, where there was clearly more space! There was also food all over the floor, that nobody had attempted to clean up… this was all over the restaurant. It looked like a bomb had hit the place. Also for the time we went, there was hardly anybody else in the restaurant. This should have told us something… at prime time on a Saturday night… but yet insisted on squeezing our table into the tightest spot! We ordered our food via the app, which was fine. As everyone ordered separately, all the meals came separately. However, common sense should have prevailed and realised they were all for the same bloody table. It was the same table number and we ordered at the same time, just one after the other. This caused an issue, as the meals were so far apart from each other in timing, everyone was eating at different times. Plus the service wasn’t fluid enough… with no charm or charisma or even a smile. I was barked at several times, which didn’t please me one bit. I think the lady that barked at me was a manager, as she seemed to be wearing a different uniform to the rest. The food itself was absolutely appalling. How anybody can sit there and say the food they cook is decent or acceptable, is completely beyond me. Some may say I’m a food snob, however, the food here was awful. The bacon was of cheap quality and very salty.. to the point it was inedible. The fried egg.. was so hard, if I tried to bounce it I could probably have played basketball with it! The beans were cheap and horrible. The sausage was acceptable, the hash browns very, very greasy and you could taste the oil on them! My wife’s meal.. was also horrendous. Everyone else’s meal.. seemed okay. Apart from two errors with the steaks, both ordered medium… both came to the table still moo’ing! We would have ordered desert, however, they had hardly any options available… which was also a running theme of the evening. We don’t really like ice cream, so we left it. By this point we had enough and we left everyone to it. In summary: below average food and service. Filthy dirty restaurant, with a tired looking interior. We will not be stepping foot back inside this restaurant or any hungry horse, if this is the type of service and food they churn out. It fits a purpose I’m sure, but for us, it was as expected. Awful.

I visit once every month, the food is amazing great food for the buck, outside we can use the garden as we please and it's very friendly here All the staff are polite and very helpful we look forward to going back for breakfast next week.

We went for a night out for dinner and drinks with my partner and I and we were pleasantly surprised how friendly and helpful the staff were . Bless them they went above and beyond to help and make it a nice night for us . Most definitely going back there .

A very nice meal. But their customer service was outstanding. I wanted a bottle of ale but they were in a fridge making them chilled. The bar staff went down to the cellar and got me one at ambient temperature. Little things like that are important and I was so pleased.

Visited last week after a day out at Legoland. We'd driven down from Sheffield so were very tired and wanted a nice meal and drinks. The staff we so pleasant and helpful from the minute we stepped in to the moment we left. We sat outside but when we asked if we could order food to a table inside the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, calling us inside when the food was nearly ready. The pleasantness of the staff really touched us, as Hungry Horse staff up north are generally a miserable bunch (lol). These staff should be very proud of their customer service skills, and this pub is well recommended. Don't recall names but we visited on the evening of 21st July 2021. Thanks guys!

Lovely customer service and excellent food, staff were extremely friendly and an overall good vibe in the pub. I like how there is an option to sit inside/outside or the in the marquee depending on the weather. Would recommend to groups of friends or a family outing.

(I did call ahead just to warn them) Very understanding .. Once seated we ordered by the mobile phone app. Drinks came first, then starters and then mains. Food was fresh and hot. No complaints at all. We would definitely return here if over that way in future..

We were lead to our booth and delighted to find it was 007 themed! Dean our server was very friendly and attentive. Yummy and good value food. A great stop for families and friends alike.

Visited from out of town. Nachos were banging, James Bond themed booth was cool, TVs in the walls. Food and drink very good value. Dean our server was a legend and the rest of the staff were very helpful too. Would recommend as a sightseeing destination for fans of The Office. Saw on the menu they have absolute bargain deals for over 60s too, will have to make the trip back in 2052.

Came here for the second time after my trip to Vegas. Nothing beats a burger from the billet. Love the staff and the car show was amazing!

Went for a family meal on Friday and was greeted by a young gentleman at the door. He explained how the track and trace worked for entering and also the Greene king app for ordering. Our food and drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. I would highly recommend this pub for anyone; families, work groups or even by yourself it’s a pleasant atmosphere for everyone.

Went in to my local for a drink and the food smelt so good we decided to stay for food. We tryed the smokin' jack burger and it was buy one get one free Friday so a really great deal! Can't wait to go back and try some of the other food!

very good covid restrictions in place which made me feel safe.Upon entry i was greeted by a lovely welcoming woman who explained that the easiest and quickest way to order was through an app. I sat down and ordered. Drinks appeared within minutes closely followed by starters. All food was served hot and well presented. Mains were also hot and delicious in taste. I asked for a recommendation for pudding and the waitress said fudge cake.. I'm glad she did it was devin.Staff were very helpful from begging to end. Will return very soon.

Was greeted at the door by Gemma who explained the rules and how we could order our food and drinks via the Greene King app. The food was lovely and there was great service from everyone, would happily return.

I spent a night with family having great food and drinks. The service was just out of this world and the host was friendly and kind and was so informed that we felt safe before we got seated. I just want to thank all of the staff. We will be back after lockdown.

Was very impressed by how the restaurant was laid out. Was greeted by Georgina who explained the covid rules and made me feel comfortable. The burgers we had were lovely and will definitely be going back!

We took our grandchildren to The Crooked Billet recently only to be told that we had to download the App and order from the table. As we are of a certain age, we had no idea how to do this and got quite flustered. A wonderful lad called Tyler took my phone and went through everything with us and placed our order. The staff realised that we were struggling with the technology and came over several times to see if we wanted to order top up drinks, desserts etc. and finally gave our grandchildren some sweets to take away. The food was excellent too. For me, the service is as important as the food ... if not MORE important. Well done Crooked Billet.

I come here weekly and the food and service were as good as ever. I ordered a "Curry Wednesday" which includes a drink. I ordered my usual Fosters to go with the curry but was told that was not available. I asked for alternatives and selected a Stella. When the bill came I found I had been charged £4.40 for the beer and the full price for the curry. It was not my fault Fosters was not available and I was not told Stella was not a "deal" drink. They did refund my Partner's much less expensive drink but I still feel I have been "conned" over the beer!

Came to the billet and had a sik burger. Loved it... no much better then weatherspoons. I love playing games ... boooyaah!

Visited 24th october 2020 As a family of 3 we where very pleased with the place it was lovely clean and super friendly the guy at the front of house was called Dean he was lovely made us feel so relaxed all staff where lovely and friendly 10 put of 10 from us x

Met family here for a Saturday lunch. Incredibly safe and COVID complicit. Vercetti, Dean and staff were hugely helpful and accommodating. Thank you for a lovely meal.

This is my 3rd visit during covid times. Each time we were attended to very well, on last visit, Jane & Olivia were outstanding in their service. Reassuring to know that in these hard times, standards are still high & considered worthwhile invesrung in, whuch I applaud. Wekl fone. Food was super each visit & came very quickly. The girls had so much patience to help us understand the current table orderung procedure in place, thank you.

DEAN and OLIVIA were nothing but professional. Made me feel very welcome, as a solo visitor. Every need was met. Given the current climate and changes we are facing. These two - seriously made it no problem to satisfy my needs. The hygiene levels could not be better. But not only my needs, they were asking and attending to everyone in the pub. Even helping colleagues when needed. These two are key and vital assets to this location.Well done you two. Be proud

First visit since covid and was totally impressed. The staff were very helpful with helping load the app. The staff was efficient food was amazing esp deserts. Dean the manager even took tome to chat to us from a safe distance. Upon leaving after the meal he took time to chat and wish us a good afternoon. A++++ will definitely go again
