The last time I visited The Cromwell it was a pub! It has been a "curry house" for 15 years now according to the very pleasant gentleman who looked after us. The food tasted amazingly and the service was impeccable. However, the part of the experience that impressed me the most was the presentation of the food which would have sat well on the judges' table on MasterChef. This was probably the finest experience I've ever had eating a curry and would recommend The Cromwell as a destination dinner experience.

This is the best Indian we have had, the chicken tikka mosala was gorgeous, and my fussy husband had the balti, lovely food, lovely restaurant with very courteous and friendly staff

I haven’t written a Tripadvisor review in years but after this experience I felt compelled to do so. Strong drain smell as we entered should have been enough to make us turn on our heels. Gloomy and empty it wasn’t a great impression. Starter of chicken tika was fine if a bit salty. Main was a disaster, some of the chicken was cooked some raw the sauce comprised of clumps of mango and excessively sweet coconut. Worst dish I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. Staff to be fair were friendly and apologetic.

Great service, great food. Will be back again. Came with friends who visited us last minute and it was a great night out. ❤️

Visited tonight with my husband and we could not fault anything about our visit. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The food was outstanding, so much flavour absolutely delicious as always and great value for money. Staff are polite and provide a service with a smile. Thank you for a lovely experience!! We cannot fault Cromwell Tandoori and highly recommend people visit!

This spot was a hidden gem. Staff were lovely they made a huge effort with us and delivered our food with a lovely smile. Food was delicious and quick too.

Had a take away. Got told it was out for delivery a 10 minute drive took a hour. Everytime we called they kept saying its out for delivery.

Great food and monthly music evenings that aren’t being advertised. Had some great acts. This past week was 70/80s music for £35 including meal. So few reviews and that’s a shame. Great team, great food and good prices.

Good food (despite receiving the wrong meat) Awful attitude from manager (which judging by other reviews, is not the first incident). Ordered online at 7:15 and after placing the order, were told it would be an hour and a half. Called up and changed to collection, which they said would be possible in 30 minutes. Upon arrival the manager informed me he’d give me the £2 for the delivery fee but not the 10% discount for collecting. To which I disputed, as although it wasn’t a huge amount (£6) it’s the principle to fulfil an offer they advertise. Manager then agreed to give me the full £8 but advised that in future “delivery means delivery”, which I accepted and sat where he told me to wait. 10 minutes later the manager, informed me that they were “bringing it to you now”. Which I assumed would be to me, in the seat he told me to wait and not the house… Confronted the manager to which he claimed they wanted to save on the £8 and that “bringing it to you now” was in fact to our house and not the seat he told me to wait in. Manager laughed and waved me out the restaurant (he didn’t give me a penny of the £8)

We came for dinner for our 16th wedding anniversary weekend celebration weekend. Outstanding service, food was banging!! We came on a Sunday and experienced the banquet.

The Cromwell has become our go to Indian restaurant since the new owners took over last year. The place is epic, a massive ancient barn with exposed timbers. The food is fabulous. Just had a chicken chat Puri to start... perfect. My wife had tandoori lamb chops which were ... according to her..the best she's had. For the main I chose a new dish...got to leave the comfort zone every now and then..a Lamb Tikka Bahari. I'm normally a madras or vindaloo fan but although the dish was "no chilli" rated, it was beautiful. I was told it could be made "madras hot" I'm glad I didn't on this occasion.... maybe next time. Can't wait to go back which will definitely be soon.

This place has really improved under the new management! The restaurant was busy ( on a Tuesday night) which gave it a good atmosphere. The waiters are very efficient and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious! Best Indian meal we have had for a long time. The portions sizes are very good and we left feeling very full. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend, will be going more often now!

Just back from a gorgeous meal at the Cromwell. Beautiful listed building really nicely done. Food exceptional and large portions. We had Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and a Chicken Tikka Biryani with pilau rice and Keema Naan breads. The service was good and waiters very attentive. Already booked to go back for the George Michael tribute pm. Well worth a visit.
