Stayed here recently. Was not impressed. The photos show the lodges behind with a lovely garden in front. In reality it is on a main road with no front garden. And the whole bedroom shakes when a lorry passes by!! Also strong smell of cooking oil in corridors which is overwhelming. The staff are not particularly friendly or helpful. You have to ask for coffee. Tea etc if you want a top up. Not once do they come and ask if everything is ok with your meals. I have to say I will not return and would not recommend!! 1/10

Highly recommend this pub/restaurant, the accommodation is top class, as is the service from all of the staff, lovely walks nearby, we stayed for one night, we ate in the restaurant, the food was top class, the truffle ravioli was amazing, my favourite drink is a pink Prosecco, which they have, not many places have it, no idea why that is..our room was in a building behind the pub and was immaculate, we have many weekends away in the U.K. and we put this in our top 5! Gorgeous beer garden with beautiful cane furniture. Breakfast was 10 out of 10.

Rooms are nice and clean and always well-serviced. Dinner menu has changed recently and, for my taste, not for the better. Staff are generally helpful. Good breakfast menu.

A beautiful location and every element of our stay exceeded expectations. From the warm and welcoming staff, to the delicious food and drinks. Would stay there again anytime and really enjoyed the experience.

They really messed up in the kitchen but I would give them another chance.

We really enjoyed our stay here over the bank holiday weekend. The room was clean, warm and comfortable and the staff were lovely and helpful. Our stay was good value for money and we’d come back if in the area in the future. We dined in on Friday and the food was really good - delicious brisket and brownie dessert. The service was a bit too quick - the mains arrived as soon as we’d finished the starter. The first breakfast on the Saturday wasn’t great - think they were understaffed, and I think our cooked breakfast order was forgotten too, so it took nearly an hour to get our hot food ordered and delivered, and it was just about cooked. There were a couple of small groups in the same position who I think had to leave before they got their cooked breakfasts. These things happen, especially if staff call in at the last minute. It’s difficult for small businesses to catch up quickly when that happens. The problem was resolved by the 2nd breakfast which was really good and timely.

We didn't stay, so no room rating. The restaurant food was lovely. Super fast service, and really tasty. Menu gave impression it was limited compared to some places but minor detail.

Very welcoming atmosphere, dog friendly as we had two dogs, lovely interior, great menu, we all enjoyed our food, my steak & ale pie was the best I’ve ever had, highly recommend. Wasn’t staying overnight so couldn’t rate the rooms .

My brother and father and I walked through 2 minutes from my father's house to the Heifer for a well deserved pint after some heavy gardening. Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff.

Everything was brilliant from check in to departure. Room very comfortable with plentiful facilities, everything you could possibly need. All staff friendly, efficient and professional. Breakfast was superb! Would definitely recommend.

Quite pricey considering that there are better options close by. Portion size is very small on sausage and mash. Left feeling hungry......won't be going back.

Stayed nearby for two nights and this place was in walking distance - so we ate here both nights and we were really pleased we did. Modern decor, friendly attentive staff, and wonderful food! Couldn’t fault it. The menu was varied and the food presentation was great.

We have just spent the weekend here for my daughter's wedding at Thornton Hall. The service, rooms and food were above and beyond expectations. 16 of our wedding party had a meal there on the Friday night. We had pre booked meals from the menu and everything was spot on and served promptly. More guests arrived on the Saturday so, there were about 30 for breakfast on Sunday morning. The breakfast orders were very varied and everything came out correctly and hot. Delicious breakfast. Cannot praise this hotel and restaurant enough. A special mention to Gemma and her staff you are amazing 👏 🤩 ❤️

Was served by Amy who was professional and polite. The service I received was excellent as is the surroundings and decor. Return visit to The Craven Heifer. What a great place and reasonably priced food. Times move on a people sell businesses and obviously this has worked for the better here! Great Food, Great Selection of Beer what's not to love. Going to book a weekend away here and try out the rooms.

We went for a family celebration lunch. Our waiter Oliver was an attentive host but not intrusive which was just perfect. Our drinks and food requirements were taken and we had a short wait before they were presented Three of the party had Prawn pil pil which was just perfect! Having spent ten(10) residing in Spain we previously had many Prawn pil pils and I can honestly say that this one was the best I have had 10 out 10 . Our other member had the creamed mushrooms which was equally as good.For mains three of us had Prawn Linguine which was excellent and our othe person had Homity pie which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our overall experience was of the highest order and possibly the finest lunch I have had ! We will certainly return and the Craven Heifer at Kelbrooke will always be top of my go to list. If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love this place! The menu has a fantastic selection of quality meals, and we loved everything we ordered. All the staff are friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. A special mention has to go out to one of the staff called Flav who initially served us with drinks when we arrived. Flav was so polite, friendly and welcoming with a big beaming smile, ensuring every aspect of our experience at the Craven Heifer was perfect. A lovely lady and the service was impeccable. We would come back just for the service alone!

Recently completely refurbished. In a very attractive village in beautiful countryside. One bus stop outside, another perhaps a quarter of a mile away, so a choice of routes. Staff friendly & efficient. Menu varied, good quality & reasonably priced.

On arrival we were warmly greeted booked In quickly, I had booked a superior ground floor room and we were very pleased with our room very spacious well equipped with a large bathroom with a walk in shower as I have mobility issues the room was brilliant. Large comfy bed two arm chairs excellent refreshment tray. Please note that to get to the bar/restaurant you can go down some steps but you can also walk around to the from entrance to avoid steps. The pub/restaurant was very busy on the Saturday evening we visited it this did not cause any issues as the staff were quick to serve and made you feel very welcome. Our meal was very good value for money and very tasty and large portions. Breakfast was also very tasty again with excellent customer service, I am just looking forward to a return visit.

We came here after leaving another hotel in Skipton. Craven Heifer Inn is perfect, the room is lovely, the staff are amazing & the food, well it’s the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. Honestly so pleased we came here, we wil definitely return and would recommend you choose this over any other hotels in the area.

I stayed for 1 night with 3 friends after walking in the Yorkshire Dale's. The accommodation, staff, evening meal and breakfast were all excellent. This was the 3rd time we have stayed here over the years and I would definitely stay here again when walking in Yorkshire.

Called for the 7th or 8th time with a friend who had never been. She will be calling again without doubt. My wife and I had the large steak and ale pie with all the trims. our friend had the standard steak pie, again with all the trimmings. All were absolutely delicious from first bite to last. The under manager was a delight to talk to, very informative about all aspects of the hotel and catering options. Made for a very relaxed and enjoyable afternoon.Thank you again.

Great food, great service! We had a family meal and all cleaned their plates, 2nd choice Blade of Beef as mussels were all gone 😢 but can’t fault the food, highly recommend for couples or family’s, nice sun trap in beer garden/patio area outside. Will visit again

It was my first time eating here in over 10 years! Four of us booked a table for 6pm on a Saturday evening. The service and food were excellent, and we will definitely return. We just had mains, Homity Pie (pastry was amazing), Pork chop, Seafood pasta and Sea Bass and all were declared delicious. We had no room for dessert! Would recommend you visit here.

Went out for lunch to celebrate my daughter starting a new job. Staff were attentive, food was excellent and we were all stuffed. No room for a pudding, but we would have all liked one. The beef on the Sunday roast was mouth watering and just fell apart, a great variety of drinks to choose from too

Beautifully decorated room in the converted barn. Equipped with everything we needed and a great shower. Bath robes supplied. Had dinner in the restaurant. Good menu choice, lovely food. Breakfast was one of the best we have had. All staff were pleasant and attentive. Eva and Spike were fab!

The rooms we're really top quality, friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us. The meal we're superb and a very reasonable lunch menu .

It was by chance we came by this restaurant, lovely clean exterior and even smarter inside. We got a lovely corner table and it wasn’t long before our drinks order was taken. We ordered just a main course each from the varied menu as we weren’t sure what to expect. One Beef Blade, absolutely delicious and tender, nice and hot and everything in the plate was tasty. A large pie, again a plate full of deliciousness and a chicken Sunday roast. All of us enjoyed our meals and had no room for dessert. Only downside which I need to mention was that on checking the bill we had been charged for 2 extra meals, the pork Sunday dinner and an extra beef blade which made the bill approx £40 too much. Once brought to the staffs attention it was put right. Staff were pleasant and attentive too.

Popped in on the way back from a day out. We have been before but not recently. It was good as usual. If I had a niggle , I would say could they vary the menu a bit?

Had 2 nights here and in my opinion the best Robinson inn we’ve stayed in so far! The rooms are spacious and comfortable beds, the food and service exceptional! Went into the restaurant and they couldn't accommodate because we didn't have a booking. Went online and booked a table then and there where they couldnt get us in for hours. Decided just to leave and go else where. Think you need new front of house staff!

Service was very good, staff very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food on this particular visit was mediocre. Not sure if the chef has changed but have had better food in the past. Tempura king prawns were not particularly big and batter was a bit thick. Rösti with chicken was not as expected. Pastry on steak pie was very thick and not much meat in it. Chips were a bit dry. The gravy was similar to that made from granules. The passion fruit and mango cheesecake didn’t taste of much and the topping was a thick set gel. It was advertised with raspberry coulis but arrived with some sort of orange coloured coulis.

Absolutely highly recommended. Food, staff venue amazing. Prices very reasonable and good menu choices.

We’re regular diners here but alas it does seem to have lost its sparkle. My cheese and onion pie was excellent but 2 of the party had mussels which were tasteless and another had blade of beef which was quite fatty and overdone. I had a cocktail which arrived in a tall glass without even a straw, if I’m paying £9 for a drink I at least expect an umbrella or straw…. It just looked like a tumbler of juice 🙄. Waitresses very disinterested but the place was packed so probably couldn’t offer that special service. Such a shame as this has been my favourite restaurant for years.

We are relatively local to the Craven Heifer but not local enough for it to be a local..but we do eat here often.. if honest.. I don’t recall a single bad experience here.. the food has always been amazing, not cheap but very consistent and always top notch.. I read the reviews stating it has been taken over and having ate there last week, it does chime as possibly so.. the one down side here has always been the service but I can’t honestly lay the blame at the owners here.. you’d do well to get good service at Clariges these days as you can’t get staff interested in doing anything… This place has lots of seemingly 15 year old girls waiting tables and it’s hot and miss.. But I did notice no specials menu this time.. and the blade of beef which is always excellent was below par this time.. Otherwise it did appear the same.. it’s not put us off, well certainly be back but with a watchful eye.. I genuinely hope it can keep its standards up as finding a good place to eat anywhere near the Ribble Valley these days is near impossible..

Since the takeover this place HAS gone downhill and take note especially for those who used to go here frequently. The menu has changed for too much, the excellent cheese pie has gone for example with some random in its place. Drinks have changed as well. This was always going to happen with this kind of takeover and it should have been kept as a local establishment.

I don’t know what some reviews are on about when they say The Craven Heifer has gone downhill since being taken over by Robinsons. It’s an insult to the hardworking chefs and front of house staff which are the same as before. Yes the menu may have changed slightly with the welcome permanent addition of fish and chips an extra Robinsons ale & steak pie, a different cheese pie, mussels and a pork dish it’s much the same as before, still with specials as extra menu items. Our meal on the 30/12/23 was excellent. A superb fillet steak cooked perfectly rare with a requested red wine jus instead of peppercorn sauce. My husband tells me his moules frites were also spot on with the dizzy blonde sauce really tasty. Both our desserts, chocolate cherry torte and chocolate truffle cheesecake were both deliciously decadent. The only niggle being the squirty cream on the cheesecake which was awful, not even the thick luxurious type but the awful airy type which had almost collapsed to a watery puddle by the time it was served. It really has no place on a Craven Heifer dessert. I must also mention the excellent service, as always, attentive without being intrusive.

Since we enjoyed an excellent meal in December. Robinson's have reduced the always superb menu to over priced "Pub Food" We have eaten there for about fifteen years since Peter converted it into what it had become. Sadly as regular local customers, we will not be returning.

We wanted a pre xmas meal. I'd heard it had been taken over by the same people who have the Tempest so I was sceptical, as had tried the Tempest and wasn't impressed. However having been a regular diner to the Heifer I thought at least try it and hope the excellent standard is there. I ordered from the festive menu, 2 courses for £25, I ordered turkey and I would order a dessert. There was enough food and most of it tasty but I did think the turkey tasted like chicken does when reheated, just strange. The rest was delicious, roast potatoes, parsnip, carrots, Brussels but no mash. The gravy I thought had thickening agent in it, was quite gloopy and left a weird texture on the tongue. I love Xmas pudding so ordered that, it came out and I think the shock was allover my face, I have never in my life recieved a dessert so small. It was around 3 inches in diameter in mould shape and half an inch in depth. Shocking. It came on a rectangular plate with a jug of brandy sauce. For me it was more like custard with just a hint of brandy. I feel like I've basically paid £25 for a turkey dinner. I feel totally ripped off. Honestly thw dessert is joke. I could have eaten it in 2 spoons if i wasn't chasing it around a rectangular plate that made it look even more miniature. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon if at all.

An outstanding seasonal Christmas evening meal for eight people! French onion soup as good as that which used to be served at the Tempest Arms in the 1990's, incredible. Every single element of a turkey dinner prepared and cooked to perfection, absolutely beautiful. Excellent table service by a strong team of staff, just a few niggles... we asked three times for water at the table before it eventually arrived, had to ask for cranberry sauce and extra gravy but this should have really been a standard offering at a place as high quality as this. I will be back again and again, well done!

We like the Craven Heifer very much there is a group of us that go every 10 weeks or so. The food is great the staff are great very friendly. Hence why we keep coming back for more. The place as just been recently taken over by the Robinsons Brewery from Stockport. Hopefully they won’t change anything as the restaurant is always full and ‘If it’s not broken don’t fixed it’ Currently all the old staff are still there. I hope all will continue as it is.
