The Craven Heifer Inn in Pendle

I have been going to the Craven Heifer in Kelbrook for many years mostly for lunch but also to stay the night on a few occasions. It is definitely one of the best places I have eaten at and also stayed. The food is excellent as is the service. The rooms (especially in the lodges) are spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. I last visited on 26th February and it was as excellent as ever. Special mention to Gemma for her kindness.

We stayed here for 2 nights in November 2024 for a family gathering and my birthday. The accommodation was lovely and cosy, a really nice spacious room in The Lodge. Breakfast was really tasty and service was great. We also had a meal here on our first night which was an equally pleasant experience. The only bit of feedback I would give that the TV in our room wasn’t functioning properly, but that was only a very minor issue. On the whole a very welcoming pleasant hotel with really nice surroundings. Highly recommended if you’re planning to stay in the area.

Such a lovely place to stay, everywhere is immaculately clean, the outside areas as well as inside communal areas. The room was spotless and comfortable, menus and info in the room was great and the little tea/coffee station. The food is excellent in the inn, there is a great menu with something for everyone, service is fab and the staff are fantastic, really friendly and welcoming at both dinner and breakfast. Would 100% recommend and visit again.

Just an over-night stay as I was attending a wedding in the area, lovely room, really well kept, great breakfast and staff are incredibly attentive and friendly. Strong recommendation.

We booked a table for 2 on line & arrived 5 muns early. We were shown to our table & ordered 2 large wines. They arrived very promptly & we ordered our mains. The pub was not over busy so we enjoyed our wine while waiting for our food. It was not long before our mains arrived & WOW they looked amazing & tasted delicious. We ordered a bottle of wine & enjoyed our food. We decided to order a desert & again it was delicious. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. The service was also excellent & we will be visiting again very soon.

I ordered a drink which didn't come and although the replacement was given complementary it spoilt the evening as my dining partner finished their drink whilst i was waiting.

We were recommended this hotel by the company who we were visiting for work. The food was excellent. Far better than your average pub meal and not unreasonably priced. All the rooms we spacious, comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. Bathrooms looked recently renovated and the general levels of cleanliness were high. Staff were friendly and very willing to help with anything we needed. Highly recommend.

Excellent service & really flavoursome food on a busy Friday evening. Lovely alcohol free Prosecco. Duo of Duck and Lamb en Croute both highly recommended and the Chocolate truffle cheesecake was just sublime!

Ate dinner here during our pre-Christmas break. Food and service exceeded expectations. Staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was presented beautifully and tasted great. And the wines were much better than any 'pub' wines we've had.

This time while over from Canada, we tried the Craven Heifer dining room 3 times. Each visit was superb, the food was excellent, tasty and hot; service was as it should be and really friendly. When once again in the area, hopefully within a year, I shall return with eager anticipation of a great meal. I thoroughly recommend the Craven Heifer Kelbrook.

We had a lovely meal at The Craven Heifer. Their young waiting staff are a credit to the pub. The parking is also plentiful.

Booking online for a meal was simple and the food and service were excellent.

We chose the Craven Heifer for a Sunday lunch as I had been previously with my friends and the food was amazing. As my previous visit the staff and food were amazing, although some of the food on this occasion was not hot, especially the carrots and french beans. Other than that it was great and we will be back when in the area.

Great Sunday Roast and good service.

The pub and accommodation are of a very high standard. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The room we had in the Lodge was spacious, comfortable and clean and we slept reasonably well. We were slightly disappointed at the size of the fish and steak and ale pie but otherwise it was very tasty, as was the sticky toffee pudding. The breakfast was exceptional I have to say, with very good quality bacon and sausage. The size of the breakfast is enough to fuel you for most of the day.

me and my family came in for a lovely meal the other day and we were amazed with how good the food was. Especially the dessert so credit to the chefs and overall all the staff was lovely and was amazing service

3rd time here now and have never been let down , i do like be critical and have found the craven heifer to be faultless..the food is more than tasty and very well presented...thanks to the team there for their efforts

Just had the pleasure of visiting Mille @ Craven Heifer on the Start of our Annual Turkey Run that is a tradition of Mythemroyd every year, which is a mystery trip taking in as many pubs on a non disclosed route in a a 33 seater coach. We’ve got to say from the initial encounter of asking Mille if the pub would take 33 gentlemen on a Saturday in December on run up to Christmas with a full restaurant she was more than welcoming so we organised to have one drink with them and she delivered, Even set aside an area to for us to stand or sit then even rang through to the next pub for us to make sure they would take a large group of men. Outstanding Service and Care highly recommended

Great stay, great food, super clean rooms. We had a couple of niggles which staff resolved without any fuss. Nothing seemed like too much bother for them. Fantastic service. Would definitely return if in the area.

We came from Manchester to meet friends from Skipton well worth the drive food and service were fabulous. We would definitely return.

Menus are reasonable and the food was very good, excellent service.

We visited on Tuesday lunchtime this week. Really busy and lots of people enjoying a Christmas gathering, as we were too. Food great, all served in good time too, and it was nice to see the staff so welcoming and positive, even during a busy December. Two of us had the pie, one turkey main course and a burger which went down well and certainly put us on till dinner (and beyond). Actually had no idea they have rooms here too for anyone interested. We’ll be back again when in the area, great find.

Always enjoy visiting the Craven Heifer. Lovely food, attentive staff and enjoy the environment. We often call for a meal and end up staying a while, catching up with old friends. Never feel rushed. Highly recommend this lovely place.

relaxed environment, only went in for drinks but ended up eating the sunday roast which was delicious. I have a few food allergies and feel that staff were fantastic at dealing with that.

Very attentive service, and delicious food. Duck spring rolls and pork belly, and halloumi chips, beef brisket. Dog friendly too. Lovely coffee and thoughtful complimentary anniversary hand written chocolate and ice cream dessert.

Had an excellent two night stay , my room was comfortable and had everything i required. Staff were extremely accommodating and I would particularly like to thank Olly(sp) for all his help with no fuss whatsoever. I would stay here any time I am in the area

Nothing was too much trouble for the team. They responded to everything i asked for without any fuss at all. Breakfast was superb and i had two lovely meals in the restaurant.

We visited this The Craven Heifer Inn on Saturday 19th Oct. it was paid for by our daughter for my husband’s birthday because our other daughter bought tickets to go on Embsay and Bolton Abbey railway. The hotel was a pretty good location for the railway only 15mins away. We had a nice welcome. The room was outstanding, comfortable and immaculate, very clean. We had evening meal which again was outstanding. The bed was very comfortable. The next morning we had a lovely breakfast, restaurant staff were very helpful for breakfast and evening meal and very pleasant one of the bar staff unfortunately I didn’t get his name, he was very helpful and pleasant chatting while serving our drinks. Thank you for a lovely stay Craven Inn and keep up the good work

We would like to recommend this hotel. The accommodation - we stayed in the Lodge.The Room was large , exceptional clean.Twin aspect. Large Hospitality tray ,well stocked and plenty of choice. The bar & restaurant area was exceptionally clean-( toilets immaculate). Staff of all ages courteous and friendly and all smartly dressed.Waiting staff we're trained. The Food is delicious and best quality ingredients.Thank You your an amazing Chef.

I had a fantastic experience at the Craven Heifer, thanks to Ginny, who was working behind the bar. We were visiting the area and decided to call for some drinks after a lovely walk in the country. Her welcoming personality made me feel right at home as soon as I walked in. She was not only efficient in preparing drinks but also took the time to recommend a few of the signature serve cocktails, which were absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back, thanks Ginny!

The food was amazing. I had steak and Guinness pie and it was the best. The service was second to none. The waiting on staff (Amelia) was really attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Was made to feel welcome as soon as we booked in. The room light, airy and clean. Beds very comfortable. The food was excellent. Rates are very competitive. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again.

It was our 10th wedding anniversary, the food was amazing, the staff were polite and helpful. We felt really welcomed. We brought our dog with us and it is the first time he has ever been in a pub. The staff did not give us the feeling that they were judging us. I would certainly say that this is the best pub I have ever eaten in

Had a meal a couple of weeks ago to celebrate a birthday. The manager Millie was very attentive and made sure the experience was perfect from the second we was seated. We even received a birthday plate when we got our dessert. Thankyou for a wonderful evening. 100% recommend!

A Two night stay , which was comfortable, clean and welcoming. Breakfasts were delicious. Our stay was to meet old friends and a wedding in Barnoldswick.

Just stopped for lunch on the way to Skipton. Wife had the Tue fish and chips offer and I had the steak and unicorn (ale) pie. Both delicious, good service and very nice clean and well decorated pub.

Stayed for a couple of nights in the loft suite. The room is huge with a huge bathroom. Comfortable seating area with large tv. Breakfast was fantastic with a good selection. Also evening meals were excellent. We would certainly stay again.

We took visitors here for a meal, really good and the service was spot on.

Stayed here recently. Was not impressed. The photos show the lodges behind with a lovely garden in front. In reality it is on a main road with no front garden. And the whole bedroom shakes when a lorry passes by!! Also strong smell of cooking oil in corridors which is overwhelming. The staff are not particularly friendly or helpful. You have to ask for coffee. Tea etc if you want a top up. Not once do they come and ask if everything is ok with your meals. I have to say I will not return and would not recommend!! 1/10

Fabulous, the bed was super comfortable, the shower room was huge. Breakfast was delicious. Our only complaint was that room service misunderstood that we wanted the room sorted and the milk and water weren't replenished. No real complaint, we could have asked for more. I would thoroughly recommend this great hotel.

Great quality food with the family this evening

Rooms are nice and clean and always well-serviced. Dinner menu has changed recently and, for my taste, not for the better. Staff are generally helpful. Good breakfast menu.

Highly recommend this pub/restaurant, the accommodation is top class, as is the service from all of the staff, lovely walks nearby, we stayed for one night, we ate in the restaurant, the food was top class, the truffle ravioli was amazing, my favourite drink is a pink Prosecco, which they have, not many places have it, no idea why that is..our room was in a building behind the pub and was immaculate, we have many weekends away in the U.K. and we put this in our top 5! Gorgeous beer garden with beautiful cane furniture. Breakfast was 10 out of 10.

A beautiful location and every element of our stay exceeded expectations. From the warm and welcoming staff, to the delicious food and drinks. Would stay there again anytime and really enjoyed the experience.

We really enjoyed our stay here over the bank holiday weekend. The room was clean, warm and comfortable and the staff were lovely and helpful. Our stay was good value for money and we’d come back if in the area in the future. We dined in on Friday and the food was really good - delicious brisket and brownie dessert. The service was a bit too quick - the mains arrived as soon as we’d finished the starter. The first breakfast on the Saturday wasn’t great - think they were understaffed, and I think our cooked breakfast order was forgotten too, so it took nearly an hour to get our hot food ordered and delivered, and it was just about cooked. There were a couple of small groups in the same position who I think had to leave before they got their cooked breakfasts. These things happen, especially if staff call in at the last minute. It’s difficult for small businesses to catch up quickly when that happens. The problem was resolved by the 2nd breakfast which was really good and timely.

We didn't stay, so no room rating. The restaurant food was lovely. Super fast service, and really tasty. Menu gave impression it was limited compared to some places but minor detail.

We have stayed at the Craven Heifer several times now and never been disappointed. The food is excellent and also the staff are fantastic.

My brother and father and I walked through 2 minutes from my father's house to the Heifer for a well deserved pint after some heavy gardening. Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff.

Very welcoming atmosphere, dog friendly as we had two dogs, lovely interior, great menu, we all enjoyed our food, my steak & ale pie was the best I’ve ever had, highly recommend. Wasn’t staying overnight so couldn’t rate the rooms .

Everything was brilliant from check in to departure. Room very comfortable with plentiful facilities, everything you could possibly need. All staff friendly, efficient and professional. Breakfast was superb! Would definitely recommend.

Quite pricey considering that there are better options close by. Portion size is very small on sausage and mash. Left feeling hungry......won't be going back.

We have just spent the weekend here for my daughter's wedding at Thornton Hall. The service, rooms and food were above and beyond expectations. 16 of our wedding party had a meal there on the Friday night. We had pre booked meals from the menu and everything was spot on and served promptly. More guests arrived on the Saturday so, there were about 30 for breakfast on Sunday morning. The breakfast orders were very varied and everything came out correctly and hot. Delicious breakfast. Cannot praise this hotel and restaurant enough. A special mention to Gemma and her staff you are amazing 👏 🤩 ❤️

Stayed nearby for two nights and this place was in walking distance - so we ate here both nights and we were really pleased we did. Modern decor, friendly attentive staff, and wonderful food! Couldn’t fault it. The menu was varied and the food presentation was great.
