Popped into the coffee shop to pick up a latte while waiting for my family to arrive. The coffee shop is the first building you find when walking from the car park with the toilets opposite. It has seating if you want to sit inside and drink/eat or a takeaway service. The lady in front of my placed a large varied order and I thought I may have to wait some time for my drink but the staff rattled through the order and my latte was with me in no time at all. Great little pit stop.

I met some friends at Polesden Lacey for a walk and a light lunch, we decided to try the Cowshed for the first time since before Covid. I enjoyed a Cornish Pasty,my friends chose large sausage rolls, reported to be delicious. There was a nice range of toasted sandwiches also available. Quieter than the Granary cafe, staff pleasant and friendly. Well worth a visit.

When walking with friends with dogs this is the perfect place to enjoy a quick coffee afterwards in the outside cafe area. The choices are more limited than in the Granary but even so, as always with NT catering, it hits the spot!

This is just fine to stop and recharge with a hot drink after a walk around the PL grounds. Not as extensive a range of cakes as the Courtyard / Granary restaurant but still tastefully laid out, with indoor and outdoor tables.

Awful place, very dirty on a busy Sunday. They don’t offer proper plates, mugs or cutlery with their tea and cake, only plastic ones. It was difficult to get hold of a knife as everything on the self serve desk was cluttered in rubbish and all containers empty. I doubt I’ll ever go there again but if I do I’ll bring my own cutlery! The Granary restaurant is so much better and I’ll go there again in the future.

After a glorious morning's dog walk around PL perimeter we stopped at the Cowshed for a hot drink. It's a charming, airy space, very informal but the quality of produce on sale is the usual NT high standards. It wasn't busy but, as is often the case, despite two baristas working there was a small queue as each complex coffee was painstakingly made. It wasn't exactly clear which side of the counter the small queue ended & I stood at the wrong side (later found out it was among those waiting for the coffees to be made were standing) so someone was served ahead of me even though I had arrived first. But my tea was (eventually) great & we decided to sit outside in the autumn sunshine where a few tables are thoughtfully scattered (most with happy dogs underneath them)

They have delicious cakes and cookies here to go with your tea or coffee. We selected the beautifully moist chocolate brownies, which was a good choice. To be fair the cakes looked very tempting. One little niggle on our visit was that the service was being done by some willing and pleasant but slow teenagers. A bit frustrating on a busy Easter weekend. I am sure that with a bit of practice they’ll be speedy.

Easy place to meet and have a coffee and catch up after a walk. It opens a little late for me, as I would like to get a coffee before walking the dog as well, if there was a window selling hot drinks it would be ideal.

A fair basis choice of fresh soup, salads, sandwiches, baked potatoes, cakes, NT scones etc & drinks. But sadly all served in or on paper & cardboard. Such a shame

My friend and I expected the restaurant to be busy as it was a lovely autumn day in half term but the proprietors obviously didn’t. Soup and scones ran out at about 12 and then the coffee machine broke down. It was suggested that we go to the Granary restaurant but having seen the queues there, it was out of the question. Too few staff, too little food and high prices. Picnic next time! National Trust catering is hit and miss at the best of times. This was not the best of times.

The cafe is right at the exit from the grounds of Polesden Lacey so a perfect place to rest after an hour or so of walking. The staff are friendly and the food is adequate. It was late afternoon when we called and the place was a little worse for wear. It is child friendly with high chairs and functional furniture. Coffee was good!

A nice restored building at the main entrance. It wasn't particularly busy but with 2 couples ahead of me it took 15 minutes to be served and get my order. I think the staff must have been on a sponsored go slow. This is a coffee shop that serves drinks in a paper cups, not the Ritz!

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before visiting Polesden Lacey House, being Father's Day it was busy but the staff seemed perplexed as tables were not being cleaned or wiped. Ours was covered in sugar which made it sticky. Typical NT prices and quality. That being high price for poor quality, £5.25 for a baguette and £2.75 for a Sausage roll (home made) and £1.75 for a tea, or £2.15 for a coffee. Why these places have to charge high prices I don't understand as it will only result in less people using their services. I also didn't like the idea that the milk was in an open milk bottle for everyone to help themselves. This might be seen as something quaint for the tourists, but being by an open door flies and wasps were all over it.

We visited mid-afternoon and were pleasantly surprised at the sandwich choice and freshness on offer.I had a roast pork with stuffing and apple sauce one, the bread was tasty and the filling moist and flavorsome, would recommend. My father was disappointed that there was no buttercream in the victoria sandwich, but I was very pleased to find a proper brownie that was moist and gooey in the middle. All very nice.Only complaint was lack of direction/bad layout from till to seating area - we walked back through the food area to reach the outside seating area, which was fine as it wasn't busy, but would have been dire if it had been busy!

This is one of the better NT cafes that we have visited and it's a nice place to stop while visiting Polesden Lacey. The cream tea was excellent and the scones were freshly baked and warm. The deli inside has a range of interesting products from local farms. As usual for NT it was pretty busy and service was a bit slow. More seating outside would also be helpful, but overall it was pretty good.

Admittedly we went on a busy Bank Holiday (despite the overcast weather) but this coffee shop was so popular, it could have easily have been three times the size to fit everyone in - it was quite a struggle to get a table, even outside under the open-sided marquee. Although not in their control (and they did have several traps up) the constant bombardment by hoards of wasps was very annoying.

Stopped here on a visit to the house at Polesden Lacey. We just had coffee and scones so I cannot comment on the other food but they did seem to have some nice sausage rolls, baguettes etc. The staff are nice, 'service with a smile' as the old saying goes, and the café looks clean and bright. The coffee was good and the scone was nice too. However I do have a gripe. The coffee is served in a disposable cup like your get for a take-away coffee at one of the big coffee chains. The scone is served on a disposable plastic plate and the knife is a disposable thin wooden lollipop-stick-like thing which I did not like at all! I guess using all these disposal items saves on washing up but it must generate a lot of waste that required disposing, and that's not what I expect on a National Trust property. Change that and you'll get 4 stars!

We visited with some friends for lunch, food was excellent. Between us we tried pasties, which were hot and very tasty; jumbo sausage roll, my favourite and the best I have ever eaten; hot sausage baguette, also very tasty, all most reasonably priced. Obviously only snacks are available, but a good choice and we felt very full. Coffee and tea also fine, cold drinks are available. We did not mind the disposable plates etc, although wooden knives were not very effective! Staff helpful and friendly. I believe this is closed for refurbishment now until early February - hopefully the food will remain the same.

The Cowshed Coffee Shop is one of two places to eat at the National Trust property at Polesden Lacey. Both of them are available to visitors outside the property (but still within the grounds) and so do not require visitors to pay for entry before using these facilities. Both of them are expensive and both of them in my experience produce food which varies tremendously in quality. The Cowshed Coffee Shop is on the entrance to the property and offers hot and cold drinks and simple snack meals such as bacon baguettes, beef pasties and filled sandwiches. The quality is tremendously variable, todays food was atrocious. The bacon in the baguette had obviously been cooked several hours previously and kept hot to put into the bread when required, it was hard and tough. The sausage rolls were burnt on the outside and had been kept hot for several hours, the pastry was actually tough. At nearly £5 per item this was not value for money in my view. I have had a reasonable snack here in the past but my last few visits have been very disappointing, the quality of the food may begin it's life as good but unfortunately the staff in this particular venue have a way of ruining it and making it almost inedible. One to avoid unless you are prepared to complain in order to try and improve their offering.

We visited only on the way home from another national trust site. As a sufferer of a wheat allergy we went to the restaurant for a cuppa and cake. I had to ask a member of staff where there was any products. She said that there is a basket on the counter over there. The selection of products was woe full three items but limited stock!!!!! I then saw a sign stating they couldn't state if food was gluten free because of new EU law.

We were booked in for a birthday tea specially, even though they weren't doing teas that week. When we arrived a lovely big table with white tablecloth and napkins was ready for us. We were offered coffee and tea, which came promptly, followed by a plate of hot snacks and a cake stand containing a mouth-watering selection, including egg mayonnaise, coronation chicken and cheese and ham sandwiches. The bread was beautifully soft, with the crusts cut off. In addition were warm scones with jam and clotted cream, topped off by a selection of mini cakes. We were so full we had to take the cakes home! Thank you to Penny, who took such good care of us, and the other members of staff who made us feel very special.

Coffee was OK but the cakes were poor and vastly overpriced.Overall it did not float our boat.We wished we had given it a miss
