Brilliant from start to finish, the service was best we've had for a while, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Buzzing yet relaxed atmosphere on a Wednesday evening. Steak was cooked perfect. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

I recently visited Cow and Sow for a roast dinner, and I have to say it was one of the best in Bristol! Everything was cooked to perfection, and I couldn't find a single fault. Chloe, our server, was incredibly attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. The overall atmosphere was lovely, with a warm and welcoming vibe that made the meal all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend Cow and Sow for anyone looking for a top-notch roast dinner in Bristol!

Fell short of expectations unfortunately. While the central location is a definite plus and the staff were friendly, the main attraction – the steak – left much to be desired. Some of our party requested rare and medium steaks, which arrived (after a long wait) veering towards well done. At £30 for a steak, at a restaurant which prides itself as bring one of Bristol’s premier steakhouses, that’s hard to overlook. The quality didn’t justify the cost really and we’ve eaten better steak in Bristol for a comparable price. Two of us had the veggie options which were delicious but the portion sizes were on the small side. Overall, it was a pretty average experience that, in our opinion, didn’t live up to its specialty status given the cost.

Loved the food. Steak was tasty with good range of sides and sauces. Dessert divine and then a quality cocktail to round things off.

Service was prompt and friendly. I had The Cure roast dinner, was delicious, so tasty! Only niggles were too little gravy but gave an additional tiny jug when asked and ran out of our favourite drink. Definitely booking again.

We had the best meal and eve here. It’s a very unpretentious spot, where you can have fun but also have amazing food. Our server Chloe was amazing, suggesting wine and food for us to have. Highly recommend the pichana to share between two, SO tasty!

The food was delicious the highlight being the fillet steak and affogato. Our server was Luke. He made sure that we were happy. Will come back the next time we're in Bristol

We had a nice meal here. The only thing that was a slight disappointment was that for a steak house, when my partner ordered a medium-rare steak it arrived very much rare. And when I ordered medium-rare my steak was more well done. I know some steaks can have different levels in different areas of the cut but both mine and my partner’s steaks were consistently not cooked throughout to the level we had asked for. It was still nice food and we did have a nice time it’s just slightly disappointing when you specifically come to a steak house for a good steak and they can’t cook to your preference.

The food was delicious, was with a friend who was a lot more of an expert than me an was very impressed. The staff were wonderful and our server Chloe aka Lil Dusty was both hilarious and attentive to our needs. Had a superb dining experience and hope the chefs got all the compliments we sent their way. My friend even asked about the service charge and we were glad to know it was going to all the staff and none to the owners, so my compliments to the owners for respecting their wonderful staff.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Such a lovely restaurant will definitely come back next time in Bristol. Everything was so delicious but the Porterhouse steak and hispi cabbage were special.

There has been a trend recently of upscale chophouses turning their attention to that most British of meals, and since I was searching online for a short notice booking for a Sunday roast and they had availability, I thought I would try here based on previous reviews. The dining room is prominently located on one of the corners of Queen Square. The interior feels quite atmospheric and there was a lovely ambience about it. Service was superb, very attentive - it was good to see a restaurant with a generous amount of well trained staff, with an eye for detail. There is an extensive drinks menu with lots of choices for the wine connoisseur, as well a very good range of cocktails and spirits. It was a hot day, so - although I would have loved to have tried their combined meat dish “The Cure” - I kept myself to the Pancetta, served with all the trimmings you would expect for a price point which is a good 4-5 pound above standard pub prices. However, this is a genuine case of getting what you pay for - the meat was superb, fresh, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection, as were the vegetables and roast potatoes which had just the right level of crispness. The Yorkshire was also perfect for my tastes, as it was quite soft and fluffy. Gravy was of a good consistency and quantity, no extra was required. The plate looked amazing (see photo) and tasted even better - it was well seasoned, I loved the hint of chilli the meat was cooked with, and the accompanying apple sauce was of commensurate quality to the dish. I also enjoyed the burnt Basque cheesecake from the dessert menu, which was light, fruity and the perfect digestif. All in all, considering the quality of produce used, cooked to perfection, with great service in a lovely venue and location, this was taking a Sunday Roast to another level.

We went for our 2 year anniversary and I’m so glad we did! Our server was such a lovely person, and knew the menu so well! They gave us some Prosecco on the house for the occasion, and the food was absolutely delicious! Would definitely go back and recommended it others.

The food tasted amazing, great and rich flavor. Our attendant, Kayla was a highlight, supper attentive, flexible and eager to help and showed great attention to our tastes and requirements, lots of initiative and great banter (in the appropriate amount). The restaurant is comfy and has nice decor. Menu had plenty of choice for meat lovers. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They was attentive but not over baring which always make for a better experience! The food! Oh my the food! The sides are just divine. But the steak was cooked to absolute perfection! Unfortunately we didn't have a dessert, but they looked amazing as the tables near us had them.

Stopped for dinner - really pleased that we did. Gorgeous non alcoholic Virgin Pina Colada followed by scrumptious Butternut Squash Wellington and my husband had the Sunday beef roast. Best gravy we’ve ever had. Delicious wine too, bought a bottle to take home. Highly recommend

We came to this branch for the roast dinner and its some of the best we've had. We went to the one on Whiteladies Road for a steak dinner (highly recommend as you can pick your steak straight from the fridge) and this branch for the roast dinner. It is packed with flavour and we left with happy stomachs.

We really enjoyed the evening at Cow& Sow. The meat was first class and perfectly prepared, the side dishes were also excellent. We received very friendly and attentive service from Kayla. A wonderful place to have an excellent meal in Bristol.

Booked to celebrate son’s graduation. Staff were attentive and did not rush us. We opted for set lunch menu which was perfect. Also had the sharing platter to start. Food was fab! Having too good a time to take photos.

Very very expensive and very poor value, unimpressed with the service, the steak was just okay they served no salad with the steak and no breads to start, all sides where extra and the whole experience was a complete let down there was 7 of us and the bill was over £340 with some friends not having sides, for middling service and just okay steak in a very uninspiring setting daylight robbery We where going to have a shared steak until I realised it was over £120 truly outrageous, I also love the fact that they sell some special chips that you pay extra for if you have dripping but the server has no clue why they are special I also hate this latest trend where they add service charge which you have to get them to remove at £34 outrageous is this not their job Very uninspiring not recommended

We've been a few times and everytime it's a great experience. We had the sharer plate plus a few other small plates. All cooked to perfection thanks to Chef Blake and Chef Vinnie thank you guys. High prices, squid was overcooked, but great beef and pork, hence the name. Service was fantastic, great location and atmosphere.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. We (2) tried a selection of small plates before heading to a show, with a bottle of house white. We had burnt ends and bacon ketchup, poached and charred pineapple, sticky pork belly, and ox cheek and cheddar croquettes. The bread and olives were generous which helped with mopping up the sticky pork belly glaze. Every dish was delicious and it was the perfect amount for two. The service from Bella and Ed was tip top (thank you again for taking care of gift A while I was at the theatre, and then finding and stowing gift B which I left on a bench outside after the theatre). Absolutely lovely experience.

Lovely greeting when we arrived and shown to our table. Everything explained thoroughly. Little bit of a surprise when we were told it was 1000g minimum for the sharing cuts but we went with it. Starters were lovely. We had the tomahawk, went medium and found it to be a bit tough/dry and lacked flavour. Took a while for our plates to be taken a way and when offered dessert were completely forgotten about, we didn’t even get to see the menu! And just decided to leave. We were slightly disappointed but also are fully aware that you can’t always guarantee a great steak no matter how experienced you are at cooking it! It wasn’t worth the money this visit but maybe it will be next time.

Right fellow steak lovers, if you are close to this place, go! Try it out! Honestly the best steak and pork dining experience I personally have had. It has set the standard moving forward in service and taste bud delight. Our group was lucky, we did not book and they managed to accommodate us this time. They were a good level of busy, we found out why very quickly. My advice would be to book to avoid disappointment. That said, you did not get any sense of rush or fullness, only calm and welcoming, all staff were brilliant. The staff, brilliant, I cannot fault the host or any of the service, what a host they were, very well done - knowledgeable, calm, attentive and very helpful navigating their amazing menu. We opted for the shared starters and shared steak main, 750g steak, cooked and rested to perfection. Expect to wait the appropriate time to get your steak delivered to such high quality. The sides, just as good. The starters, well, make sure you get a few dishes to share to avoid fork fights as you reach for the last few bits, you have been warned, the crackling and pork starters, you’ll want more! The beef dripping chips, my goodness, just say yes to those! For the high quality of hosting, dining experience and the high quality food that will be placed in front of you, expect to pay a fair price, which is more than other places, but not unreasonable, the quality and value is worth it. Enjoy!

starter was lovely, when the mains came i had ordered a rib eye medium rare and was served a rump med-well the waiting staff were more than happy to replace the meal but insisted it was a rib eye not a rump (wish i took a photo) and my girlfriend had belly of pork which was very dry, but over all service was good but the mains weren't enough to be impressed by

A lovely dining experience and very good overall. Meat cuts were good, not quite as I’d asked for it to be cooked and wrong sauce but small things didn’t matter. A tad over priced in my view but worth going to. Nice menu and food was good quality. Mac n Cheese with pulled pork was extra special.

My husband I went to The Cow & Sow to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the sharing platter for our starter, for mains we had the chateaubriand, finished off with the salted caramel tart. The food was amazing and the cocktails are divine. We were served by Aimee and Ed, who were very attentive and answered any questions we had about the menu and wine.Throughly enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend.

Walked in and was welcomed by a very friendly waiter Ed. He was very welcoming and knew all about the menu. From the very start me and my girlfriend felt like it was going to be a very good experience as we also are in the customer service industry, and it was. The food was amazing and succulent. I can’t explain it, every bite was delicious until the very last bite. The atmosphere was great and I will definitely be recommending cow and stow to my friends and family.

The most delicious meal! It was my partners birthday and they presented her with a glass of Prosecco on arrival which was a lovely touch. The waiter explained a bit about the beef cuts and recommendations. For starter we opted for burnt beef ends which were succulent and tender and flavoursome, also sticky pork which was gorgeous, and chorizo which was beautifully presented. Mains we had sirloin steak- tender and cooked to perfection. I had a blue cheese sauce- amazing. Coctails were brilliant- and they made a passionfruit martini which wasn't on the menu :) All around amazing food and service!

Absolutely incredible, impeccable service, and food exceeds expectations every time! Such a lovely vibe in there too, not sure of his name but the dark-haired gentleman has served us a couple of times now and his service is amazing, really attentive (deserves a raise!) and we always leave feeling super happy!
