Turned up ad hoc for a meal and were made very welcome. Lovely roast dinner and veg. Great atmosphere and sensible pub-grub menu: just the ticket!

My husband and I are keen walkers and The Coverbridge Inn was recommended due to it central ”Dales” location. We had a warm and friendly greeting upon arrival and we immediately felt at home. The staff were very attentive and the food was out of this world. We will defo be back and would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends

We called at The Coverbridge for a meal & we weren’t disappointed. I ordered steak pie mash & veg & my husband ordered gammon & eggs. Both portions were enormous. The steak pie had lovely crisp pastry & no soggy bottom & was crammed with delicious tender steak. The gammon was massive & came with two fried eggs. All are cooked fresh & were delivered in about 30-40 minutes. Absolutely superb food - very flavoursome

Recommended this place for a pub meal. First impressions, and after being served, we thought we were on to a little gem. Sat in the lovely beer garden with the river running by next to us, a great country feel with locals sat enjoying good ales and the nice weather. Why a 2? Why a poor score.... the food. The souffle's were not cooked as a souffle should be. The curry was good, to be fair. 1 sent back, my wife ate hers due to being hungry. The member of staff asked if we wanted it replacing, there was no sign of an offer of refund by the manager. I'm in this job and know the pressures, and I know the management will read this and be quite defensive. You have a cracking drinkers pub here, a little gem, but sort out your kitchen and you will definitely have an excellent pub.

We have been to The Cover Bridge Inn on many occasions over the years. Our visit today was excellent as always. we all had drinks and lunch. I decided to have the steak pie with mash, vegetables and gravy. It was delicious. The beer is well kept which is becoming a rarity these days. A message to Steve and all his team - just keep doing the same - Please!

What a wonderful, unpretentious, unassuming, genuine vintage Yorkshire pub, with a warm welcome, excellent food and excellent beer. We called in as we were passing, it's many many years since I last called, and it was a good decision. I had the 8oz venison cheeseburger from the Specials Board, and it was 10 out of 10. My Mrs had the prawn sandwich and ditto.

A beautiful old world type pub with many interesting original features. We called without booking for Sunday lunch. We were met by very welcoming and friendly bar staff and a blazing real fire. Lunch was competitively priced and delicious. Well cooked beef with crispy fat, at least six veg all perfectly cooked, yorkshire and roast potatoes. We all three has the same and thoroughly enjoyed it. We would go again.

The best home made food! We had a cheese soufflé and steak pies, both absolutely delicious, sadly no room for a pudding. Also it’s the friendliest pub, the locals all chatted to us and even gave us some pheasant breasts to take home foc. Proper unspoilt pub with roaring log fire so do not expect farrow and ball makeover, but all the better for it in our opinion (and believe me we have been in a lot of made over pubs!)

Six of us called in for a couple of drinks on a walk from Middleham. Lovely welcome from delightfully friendly staff and perfect pints of Timothy Taylors Landlord. Serious food envy seeing the party alongside us being served with pies, sausages, fish and chips etc though we only intended to stop for a drink (several tables were booked for a wake and the lady behind the bar apologised that the kitchen would already be too busy to offer us lunch). A truly lovely little pub!

My reservation lost. Not bothered their mistake, Felt a total inconvenience, begrudgingly given table in dirty dark corner with time limit. Sunday roast disgusting, veg not as staff said. Beef wafer thin, pink, red an blood oozing. Potatoes so hard knife wouldn’t cut, Yorkshire pud not fresh cooked soggy, squashed In cauliflower cheese. Plate and food stone cold. Eventually managed to ask for hot gravy. No point in complaining staff too busy chat with locals hogging bar space. Run by amateurs. Cancelled my booking for family meal following week. Its dirty, staff scruffy, lousy food, unfriendly and I’m local, don’t bother

We have been coming to this pub since 2009 and have never had a bad meal…the food was always delicious 😋 However, new owners have taken over and this was the first time we have visited since. On our arrival we noticed all the tables had been reserved barring one in the corner which we promptly sat at as lots of other people were coming in. We explained to the girl behind the bar that we’d been trying to phone all morning to book a table but there was no answer. She just shrugged her shoulders and didn’t really explain why, however we heard them chatting amongst themselves and the word hangover was mentioned..say no more! We’d just sat down when one of the bar staff walked over and plonked a reserved sign in front of us.. we were then told there was a table near the fire that was spare. It was a tiny table right next to the entrance to the dining room so people were walking past constantly which I didn’t like as we had our two small poodles with us. My chair was directly next to the fire.. which I’m pleased to say was not roaring or I’d have roasted! My partners food arrived first, he’d ordered the roast beef dinner which looked okay, my steak pie arrived about 5 minutes later. It was awful 😣 the veg, though nicely cooked was stone cold.. the chips were pale limp and greasy and the pie.. well, the pastry was the thinest I’d ever seen and it was barely cooked on the top and completely raw at the bottom, the steak inside was bland, fatty and tasteless in a pale watery gravy much like what was in the jug on the side of my plate. My partner said his beef was thin as paper, plus his veggies, what little he got were cold too. Such a disappointment, we used to absolutely love this pub, but we won’t be returning nor would I recommend it to anyone else

Been here many times over the years to enjoy their home cooking and particularly their homemade steak pies. This seems to have now stopped and been replaced with a tasteless shop bought tin foil pie and smaller portions. Such a shame. From a wonderful place to come and eat, to a standard pub meal, probably won't be back.

I particularly like the hot shot chicken parma with chips, salad and mayo covered in cheese costing £13.50. The "hot" is the chilli. It goes even better with the Dinga - Dinga real ale at 4% volume which has fruity hops and costs £4.05. Sadly the barrel ran dry when I was there so had to switch to an alternative. Car park is opposite the pub and you have to cross the road to get there so beware traffic including farm machinery. Kitchen open Monday to Sunday 12:00 to 21:00. We dined in the snug and at one point we were the only ones without the obligatory dog, also young children were present, try not to trip over either. The gents toilets are outside and at the rear. Lift the handle not the plate on the entrance door. Genuine country pub selling real ale, well worth a visit.

The two of us fancied a night away in the Dales and this didn’t disappoint. It’s a lively, atmospheric pub with friendly and welcoming staff and an inviting and cosy interior. We had a pleasant lunch of ham sandwiches, served with fresh salad and crisps. Hubby was more than happy with the wide choice of local draught beers and ciders. I’m a gin and tonic drinker and the array of local gins was impressive too. We ate dinner here and they offer well cooked traditional pub food, consisting of homemade steak pie, fish and chips, curry and pasta dishes and steaks as well as a good choice of desserts too. The accommodation didn’t disappoint. We had a twin doggy friendly room overlooking the beer garden. Immaculately clean, crisp white bedding, white fluffy towels and a more than adequate en suite. Hearty breakfast in the morning too. There are some great walks nearby and some lovely villages to visit a short distance away. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we look forward to returning.

Beautiful location, all the food we ordered was excellent but a special mention for the steak pie which was the best we've had in a long while, pastry and filling delightful. Home made chips perfectly cooked as was everything else. Only disappointed that we were too full to try the very temtping deserts. A great selection of beers and ciders. The Inn is old, characterful and charming with a very pretty garden leading down to the river. Musical instruments gave a clue that evenings there must be great fun. Dogs very welcome. After a bracing walk in the snow around Middleham, it was brilliant to return to the pub and sit alongside a cosy fireplace to enjoy a few pints of Old Peculier. We both ordered pie and chips for our evening meal. As usual the portion was huge, quality was fantastic and everything had that home-cooked feel. We followed it with pudding and custard! Being extremely popular with tourists and locals alike, the pub had a lively and sociable atmosphere. Our room was cosy and clean, with a gorgeous view out onto the snow-covered beer garden. In the morning we had a top notch breakfast (including scrummy black pudding!!) and a good chat with our host Nick. Saturday lunch with my Mother. Ham and eggs with hand cut chips. Simply the best I’ve tasted. The cover inn is a cosy and quaint building with first rate service. Thanks to the staff.

We went in here a few times while staying in Leyburn for the food fair Week. Still has the stone flag floors, large Beer garden by the river plus car park. The food homemade Steak pies local chicken and the famous Ham&Eggs; of course home made chips. Two very original iron fire with real flames nothing false in this place. While we were there a local farme and his Sheep Dog sat by the fire. The food and Beer was very good, looking forward to the next visit

Decent pub grub, great service, reasonable prices. Beautiful beer garden, small play area for kids and a pebbly river bank for exploring. Efficient, friendly staff. Perfect Summer evening spent here.

Absolutely spot-on would strongly recommend the steak pie you get a plate full so make sure you are very hungry. Also love that they have blue moon on draft which is one of my favourites. Very reasonable definitely worth a visit if you’re in the local area.

We went in our motorhome and stayed on their car park overnight. Two of our friends travelled with us and booked bed and breakfast.First impressions was very old pub with lots of character. We were made to feel welcome and found a table, ordered drinks why our friends were shown their room.We ordered food from the menu it was fabulous home cooked food.We couldn’t eat it only only due to the massive potions. We had a great night, was made to feel welcome by staff and locals. We will definitely be returning. In the morning our friends said the breakfast and service was great.

We've been a few times now and are always welcomed by the friendly staff. The roaring fire was wonderful and we didn't want to leave. We both ordered slow cooked lamb - it was delicious - reasonable price and good sized portion too. We will return as the beer isn't too bad either!

My wife and I drop in to the Coverbridge about once a month. We have found the quality and selection of the beers superb with a good choice of selected guest beers. The Home made Steak and Ale Pie is to die for. It is excellent. The coverbridge has a great selection of meals, all of good quality and at decent prices. I would highly recommend this pub and believe it to be one of the best in the area.

We visited here after reading some encouraging reviews and noting that “booking is essential for food”, we thought it would be a safe bet while we were in the area. Unfortunately, the 2 stars are for service along as the bar staff were very polite and helpful. They are also dog friendly which is a bonus. Other than that, the food was not impressive. We had the Sunday roast and the beef tasted of poor quality, and vegetables were not seasoned and lacked flavour. The cabbage served with the meal was pickled which wasn’t what we expected. We were still hungry afterwards but didn’t want to waste any more money on desert in case it was more of the same. The decor is very tired and the place does lack atmosphere unfortunately. We didn’t drink alcohol but they have a wide variety of ales to choose from behind the bar. We won’t be returning, sadly!

Just been for Sunday lunch with my family and was delicious. I rang to book an hour before and they fitted us in no problem . Lunch didn't take very long to come and staff were so friendly. Definitely recommend. Look forward to coming back. Thankyou Nicola xx

Could not recommend enough! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. They make sure to go above and beyond for customers, making sure you have everything you need. Decor is absolutely fabulous and not to forget they grow their own fresh ingredients, you don’t get a better experience than that. Food is 10/10 so flavourful, definitely will be returning.

Great service and great food. Chef obliged me in spite of being 15 mins past his no breakfast notification. Very friendly. Quite a discovery this place, which is a bit tucked away. Will definitely be back. Just how cafés should be.
