Slightly limited menu because the head chef was on holiday. Very friendly and helpful bar staff. Food was standard pub grub but very nice. I will go back again just because the staff were so friendly. Shout out to Morag and Camilla. Great job ladies!

A lovely country pub, with friendly and helpful staff. In particular the chef ensured that the meals cooked were exactly as we wanted them. The homemade lamb pie was huge and cooked perfectly, accompanied by fresh vegetables. The steak was cooked to my liking with all the usual trimmings. Try the Gypsy tart it is delicious! We were staying near by and read good reviews for this pub so thought we'd go for a family meal here. The bar lady and manager were so kind and welcoming. They invited our children to play pool to keep them entertained and made us feel so relaxed like it was our local pub. We went away thinking how much we would like to live in the area just for this pub! I would definitely recommend The County Members for food and hospitality 5* all round. Thank you for your kindness and excellent food!

9 of us ate at The County Members last night. Kirsty and Pat had decorating the table with banners and balloons which was a nice touch! They were very attentive all evening and the chef deserves a special thanks for accommodating our different needs. Food was great. Filled Yorkie, Steak and Ale Pie, Fish Pie were all tasty and filling. Fresh veg served separately was enough to go round. We had a lactose and gluten tolerant in our group and they catered perfectly for her. Also another was watching calories and a switch to the carb option was no problem. Vegan burger in a bun was enormous. Two burgers in one bun!!! Puddings were priced well and tasted good too. Very reasonable price for main and puds. Averaged £19 per head. Good value these days. The atmosphere was quiet being a Thursday night we were only ones eating in the restaurant with a few drinking at the bar but felt cosy nonetheless. Thanks.

A lovely traditional village pub, with friendly staff serving generous portions of homemade food. We ordered our starters followed by a piping hot homemade pie. When combined with the sizeable portion of fresh veg we were left struggling to squeeze in their special dessert. Somehow we managed and left the pub already planning our next visit. The good is probably the most important part - the food. Very tasty, plentiful, reasonably priced and promptly served. The not so good is two fold.....the cheapest bottle of wine is £21. Whilst it is very good wine and a fair price for wine that good, this is a pub and one would expect a 'house' wine to also be available at a lower price. The second 'not so good' is being rushed. I think most people would find it a little uncomfortable to see brooms and mops being transported around the establishment at 9pm on a Friday and being asked to settle the bill as they are about to 'cash up'. And if you make a customer feel uncomfortable they will probably choose not to return

Nice to get out and about to support the licensed trade after the year we have all endured. Here the welcome is warm and the food and drink good but the general impression given to diners is of as fast a turn-around as is possible. Perhaps this is the House Policy or perhaps the good people of Lympne like their cocoa early. Either way if I go out for the evening I do not want to be hurried away long before 9pm and surely with drinks prices on the high side it does not make much commercial sense. Sorry, but a return visit is not being contemplated.

When she gave the food she put it on the side of the table and said ‘you can sort this out’. I don’t understand why someone has got to be so horrible and rude! Me and the Mrs are regulars here and for good reason - it's the best breakfast in town - well just outside of town actually, a 10 min drive for me, but it's worth itI gather the best temperature to cook eggs is between 144-158 degrees and they obviously know that here as the eggs are perfect, the same with the fried bread, I'd say they use vegetable oil as it isn't soggy like if you cook it with lard - I can't have that anyway as I'm counting the calories, but the Mrs can eat anything and she's only half the size of me.Now I'm not a mean man but but I like the idea of free refills on the coffee, as I only work 3 days a week so have to watch the pennies a bit.I normally have the small breakfast but could easily demolish a large one - that's the trouble with this dieting lark...Overall, the food is lovely, and service and ambience are good also, which means it gets the full 5 stars from me.Praise The Lord

Haute Cuisine it’s not - and at the typical prices of £14 for a 2 course lunch you wouldn’t expect it.But you do get good (ish) old fashioned home cooking. In truth fairly average food in large quantities at a bargain price. Nothing wrong with that, and add a beer and you’ll end up paying around £20 a head.So maybe some things are over cooked (my roast beef was!) but others are excellent (for instance the Malteser cheeses cake) others are probably just like what your Mum or Grandma cooked on Sundays. Service can be a bit slow on occasions and the restaurant could do with some new paint too. But you can forgive all that given the price. So, not worth a long trip, but for locals it beats doing the washing up!

Phoned today to make 6:30 reservation for dinner. Staff polite and helpful on phone. On arrival the 2 ladies serving at bar and in restaurant were friendly. Good start. My father ordered liver & onions, my mother rib eye steak - medium to well done and I asked for rib eye - rare.Meals came all together. Parents meals were well presented and thoroughly enjoyed. My steak was over cooked, so when I was asked, soon after it was served, I said this. Not an issue, it was taken back to kitchen and it was explained there would be delay while another was cooked.2nd steak arrived, with nice hot chips. It was certainly rare! Unfortunately it was raw and cold in the middle. When this was taken back to the kitchen, the chefs remark could be heard in restaurant. The waiting staff then came out and had to offer me another option on menu, as chef unable to cook a steak rare.I declined.I have never had a steak served up raw or experienced a chef with attitude that thinks it is ok to do so. Such a disappointing evening with my elderly parents. At least it was my meal and not theirs that was a disaster. I hope management can sort this out. I would hate anyone else to have this issue. We visited this place before and loved it! so last Sunday recommended this place to friends and went together for an early lunch. We were also looking after our son's little friend. unfortunately he felt ill after the car journey and was sick on the doorstep. It was all water and no smell to it! I dried it with napkins, staff watching me. Whilst we were choosing the food, our son wanted to order his drink. He was asked to pay straight away for that one drink so I gave him my card. He didn't bring the card back, stating the lady kept it behind bar. Female staff followed him, stating she had to keep the card as we could SIMPLY WALK OFF!!! We didn't even order the food yet! It was one juice! I was shocked. We walked in to the bar to order the meals. It was 11.40am - first they had to check with kitchen whether we could order breakfast - on the menu it stated till 12noon.... Then they had to check if main meal could be ordered. Everything seemed to be an issue...The woman behind bar then ORDERED me to clean the sick better, claiming she could smell it - it was not smelly, I don't usually cope well with vomit, this was not a proper vomit, more like a spit! All this happening in front of our son's friend who was apologizing over and over again and at this point he was in pieces, crying and clearly upset. The woman got me a spray and a cloth and I was scrubbing the door mat by the entrance on my four. My husband went inside, asked for our card back, he was told MINIMUM SPEND was £10, so paid for our son's drink on card with some cashback. I couldn't face going back in... The woman walked back out to the beer garden saying SO ARE YOU EATING OR NOT? I refused, stating the reason was her behaviour towards us. We apologized to our friends and left. We were later told by our friends that the staff were discussing the situation with other customers after we left! Unprofessional, rude, horrible service. We won't be back!

Starters were ok, however garlic bread was burnt which was not a great start!. We then ordered the mains 4 Sirloin steaks priced at £15 which we ordered 3 medium rare and one medium - All steaks came out very overdone and the quality of the meat was so poor we left half the steak on the plate as so tough! We also had a gammon dish which again was very tough and chewy so this was left also - The chips looked like they had been cooked and re-heated several times and tasted horrible. During the service we were delayed with the starters and mains as another party had turned up late so the waitresses kept coming to apologise, however had the food been decent we would not have minded!! At the end of the meal they would have been aware how poor it was a they were taking back virtually full plates. when we paid they knocked £10 off for the poor service and advised it was the chef's last day!!! - I would have been ashamed to even serve the meals that we were served and will never go back.

We booked lunch for thirteen on a sunday for a family members birthday. Food was ordered from specials board, the menu and roast dinners. All food came out promptly and was hot. Good friendly service. I have eaten here before and will certainly continue to do so. Good pub food, well cooked and very reasonably priced.

Came up last week for curry night and was very impressed! Staff were friendly, service was great. I had a chicken tikka and my partner had the beef madras. We were both very impressed and the handmade onion bhaji was amazing! For £5 each was excellent value for money and we will be coming more often

Before visiting The County Members for dinner we viewed the menu on their website. We arrived to find a completely different menu on the tables with the explanation that the website we visited was years out of date - and no longer anything to do with the business. And that they now had a new website up and running that had the correct menu on. We were unable to trace any other website through the usual search engines. The menu offered was quite limited - and it was unusual not to see beef or gammon steaks on the menu. The offer of 2 selective main dishes for £12 seems quite attractive - but, these meals are not of usual pub size proportions and a starter dish is essential for anyone with a healthy appetite. The staff were friendly and helpful but the food was a little bland - particularly the mushroom stroganoff that consisted simply of mushrooms in gravy with a small portion of boiled rice. The fish pie was quite tasty - but probably the smallest I have ever been served and accompanied by a small selection of vegetables. This venue is not really out to impress.

I came up with my husband a few days ago and didn't know what the expect. We had a pate starter which was lots and a prawn cocktail. Both were lovely and the pate was handmade which made a change from bought in rubbish. We then had 2 for £12 main meals, smothered chicken chips and veg where the chips were hand cut and cooked too plus nice fresh veg. My husband had steak and ale pie Mash and veg. Again all was freshly cooked and not bought in ready meals. So nice to find a pub that still cooks rather than buys ready made. Desserts looked amazing but we were too full to try unfortunately next time though.

We were staying up the road but went here to eat after a recommendation. I wasn’t sure we’d done the right thing on arrival as some areas are a bit scruffy.

Visited today and food mediocre and not good value when paying £14 for a meal. 3 old basic roast potatoes and a small piece of over cooked meat. Forgot to put gravy on one roast and forgot the Yorkshire on 3 of the other roasts in our group. Lady serving looked like she could not care less about any kind of friendly or decent service. Don’t mind when charged for a basic meal at a cafe but for £14 price on some of the meals you should expect a better standard. Put a bit more effort in and could be a nice pub.

We had dinner here and it was fine. I had the chicken and bacon salad and husband had burger and chips. I pinched one of his chips and it was lovely, a 'proper' chip! Staff were friendly and I can't fault it. An honest kind of place!

Lovely atmosphere, and the chef made my mushroom risotto gluten free for me when I said that I have Coeliac disease. The meals are reasonably priced and you can customise your breakfast to suit your appetite. No mass produced meals ,all freshly cooked, worth waiting a little while for .A person with a small appetite can ask for a child size portion without fear of refusal, which is helpful.I highly recommend this friendly pub , when the weather is kind there is a small dog friendly beer garden next to the car park . Well worth a visit ,the Sunday roast is lovely. Never feel under pressure to leave ,even if we have only ordered a hot drink.

This pub looked as if it might not be the best place to eat but we had traveled and was tired. We were greeted by friendly staff and a great menu with lots of choice for vegetarians too. We initially sat outside but found out quickly that it was a smokers haven for a group of about 10 men with excitable tendencies. So we recamped inside by the window. We really enjoyed our meals. Great place to eat. Good prices.

We tried to catch afternoon tea, but were appalled by the downmarket clientele. We immediately left. Avoid at all cost.

Food was bland and disappointing, though it looks like they are trying to make up for it with quantity. Seems the chef doesn't want to be there. If you order sausage roll with fries, it will cost you £9. If you order it separately, it will be £7. That is, unless they give part of your order to someone else and then tell you they don't have any more, even though you already paid and been waiting for 10 minutes for the food. Just go anywhere else and you'll have better rating experience

We had booked a room in the adjoining B&B (highly recommended) and also reserved a table at the Famous Ship Inn. Our drive from our home Devon took us over 7 hours (thank you M25 and M20) so we were only just in time for our reservation. The inn itself is very old but we were shown to a table in a modern conservatory on the south side. The food and service were impeccable and the place was doing a great trade, which created a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. This was an excellent dining experience.

We popped in for lunch. We were not staying at the "hotel" so cannot comment on the rooms. The food is excellent, if a little overpriced. As are the drinks. An example is a pint of lager shandy was priced at £6.35 and noted as a pint of Birra Moretti on the bill. I raised this but they said they "could not change it". And the larger used was not Birra Moretti! That is disappointing and, for me, that's a deal breaker.
