Such a lovely vibe, with friendly staff and delicious food. The best fish and chips I've had in a very long time!

The food was good and served hot. The pub was very noisy with a very loud disruptive group next to us which spoiled our celebration. Service was polite and friendly Another visit was lovely as we had a table in a corner and it was quiet and very pleasant.

Great roast - just a shame they only allow 1.5 hours - not really long enough for 2 courses and a drink let alone 3. Therefore end of meal spoilt by being rushed out - which happened to many tables around us. 2 hours needed .

Lovely Pub on the harbour side.

Had a great time at The Cottage. Thoroughly recommend the Festive Pie and the fish and chips were amazing. Staff were really friendly, this is a really good 'dog friendly' pub in a wonderful setting.

Really lovely place to eat and drink. We were there at 3:30 for Sunday lunch, not too busy but service was quite laid back. Desserts were amazing.

Really enjoyed our work Christmas lunch here. James was really helpful and accommodating of our large group, and the food was lovely. Would eat here again for sure!

Our second visit here for Sunday lunch, great Yorkshire puddings and welsh rarebit. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. And a lovely pint of Butcombe.

Food good had the pie, asked for chips got mash. Said not to worry, got chips as well. Wife had gammon gluten and dairy alergies no problem

We came here on Sunday for a Roast. To be honest our expectations weren’t that high as it was the only pub that could get us in before 5pm last minute. I’ve been plenty of times for drinks in the Summer but have never been for food until Sunday. We were thoroughly impressed. Service was warm and attentive from the moment we walked in the door. The staff clearly like their job and each other and it shows - and that adds to the experience for me personally. The roast was very good - it didn’t blow me away necessarily but I ate all of it, I was satiated by the end and I thought it was good value. We had a great table with comfy seating; warm, dim lighting and plenty of room. The staff let us stay for hours, playing the board games they had stacked up in the corner. We completely forgot about the storm outside!

Average service, high prices and Butcombe certainly not the best beers around. Good location, but I wouldn't rush back.

I am lucky enough to come here every year as I stay at the caravan club site next door. The food is always good and staff friendly and my dog gets treated like a star. Make sure you book as it gets very busy.

A waterside gem, really good value, excellent dining experience

This was our first time here for many years. We received a nice welcome and a table by the open fire. The place was warm and cosy and very busy. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits. The food was excellent - fish and chips and beef burger - and the selection of drinks was good, too. The prices were fair and reasonable for the offering and the staff was pleasant and friendly. We look forward to a return visit. Thank you!

Customer service excellent cannot fault that. Only down point was the very cold blasts of air from the door as Customer's came in and out of the door..

Really lovely pub by the waterfront. My burger was excellent, hot, and didn’t fall apart like most burgers do! My mum said her roast beef was also lovely - roasts in pubs can sometimes be a bit hit or miss, but this one was very good! She’s a celiac, so asked if she could swap the Yorkshire pudding for extra potatoes. The food came without the Yorkie, but there were sadly no extra potatoes. That’s the only negative from our experience - everything else was great.

Reserved a lunchtime table for a family meet, worked out really well. We shared a couple of plates of calamari as a starter, they were very good. Mains were 3 steak and ale pies, delicious was mentioned, and a burger, also very tasty. Washed down with a couple of bottles of the pinotage. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

Everything was really good. If we had to clutch at straws we would say the pumpkin pie filling could do with more flavour. Fish strew was amazing.

It was a very busy Sunday. The staff were therefore working very hard. They maintained their professional and friendly approach towards us. The food and service were very good.

The Cottage Inn is such a welcoming place! On stepping through the door there's a lovely atmosphere and the food doesn't disappoint. Unfortunately there was no whitebait available, hence the 4 stars but we enjoyed our pie of the day and a very tasty fish stew. There's lots to choose from on the menu so something for everyone.

It's a kind of "try to do too much" type pub. Beer is ok, friendly staff, but food is mediocre where it's trying to be flash. Stick to the basics, get that right and ratings will soar

Great fish and chips - and handy parking - all by the water

I think it's fair to say someone was having a bad day and decided we were the table she didn't like. She made us feel as if we were difficult customers when all I said was could we order please because she chose to serve a group who had come in after us and hadn't had to wait for the table. 1 vegan option despite the menu boasting of 'an array of plant based blah blah whatever'...tbf the other people serving were trying there best but I never want to be called 'my love' sarcastically when I'm spending quite alot on a meal.

Great prompt service, good food brought to table on a timely basis. Staff were very welcoming and amenable which made the visit thoroughly enjoyable.

Best Sunday Roast! We were lucky enough to grab a table for a late lunch on a chilly Sunday afternoon. I love roast beef, but only if it's pink. This was cooked to medium rare perfection, the Yorkshire pudding was the perfect consistency (a nice outside crust but still soft inside) and the veggies weren't overcooked but weren't still raw either. I cleared my plate and made the mistake of ordering a dessert for myself! The portion ws easily big enough for 2, but it was so good I found room for it all somehow! We enjoyed our meal infront of a real fire, surrounded by the sounds of happy diners and a variety of friendly dogs. Despite it being full to bursting the service was prompt friendly and welcoming. Staff were keen to help and gave extra support to one of our party who had mobility restrictions. Our only very tiny recommendation would be a bit more cheese sauce on the cauliflower cheese - but this in no way detracted from a fantastic experience. I've already booked our return visit.

It's can often be hard to find a good pub or restaurant anymore, where good, friendly, welcoming service seems to not be expected. The Cottage ticked every box. Fantastic customer service from the first phone booking conversation. Couldn't do enough for us or our dog and can't wait to return. Thanks Team Cottage! 10/10.

This was the situation: First, I wanted to go to another pub, however when we arrived and watched the menu, we didn't like it, and immediately we jumped out. Googling for a new place (not far away) we found The Cottage Inn with good ranking and reviews. The place is awesome, the ambient is extraordinary, the flavour of the food has a wow factor... The non-cheep prize and the non-big portions weren't good for me. The calamari had a delicious texture... But 4 pieces??? And the battered was not every golden. It was pale and unsalted. Then I got a lamp burger. Wow! What a flavour! Yes... Kids size. My compliments to the chef for the see food stew. It's a shame because I had high expectations about this. Not bad, but not so good.

Visiting our daughter who has just started at uni. Booked The Cottage Inn for Sunday lunch for my husbands birthday. Really happy with our choice, lovely pub, great food and happy service. We'll be back :-)

Ordered the charcuterie board for starter. No pork rillettes and ordinary bread instead of focaccia. Poor value for money. Roast chicken didn’t come with the advertised pork stuffing and not enough bread sauce to poke in your eye! Roast beef was very tough. Very disappointing and not cheap. Would not go back again.

The very best pub on the harbour to grab a beer and some food. Also and some of the best staff to boot.

The Cottage inn was convenient for our stay at the CAMC Club Site next door. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a few drinks and dinner, the best burger I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Fish & chips was amazing too. And that view . . . . Could sit here all day. Highly recommend a visit, we will be definitely returning.

Excellent all round experience from great hospitality from staff and great tasting food

My wife and I stayed in the motorhome/caravan site next door and booked a table a few days in advance. We really enjoyed our visit. A good choice of food and drinks and we both had very tasty meals and great service. The bar was busy with many people coming and going who were sitting outside on the waters edge. Overall a pleasant atmosphere. We would recommend.

We’ve been here a few times, but this visit was spectacular, I had plaice with new potatoes and my other half had Fowey Mussles. OMG they were the best ever.. So a big thank you to the Staff at The Cottage for a most wonderful experience. We will be back

£6.65 for a pint of Madri in a plastic cup, come on now, that's taking the micky a bit. I get it's a good location on the harbour, but that price is a bit outrageous. The pub also seems to have adopted the queueing thing, rather than people standing along the bar waiting to be served. Queue was to the door snaking past tables with people eating. If i was eating, i wouldn't want people stood right by me the whole time. Chap behind the bar not really bothered about helping ease the queue a bit and stop his tasking of putting glasses away, leaving it all to the girl to crack on. 2 stars given, helped along because of the location.

Popped in for a small drink and some nibbles on way home from the Shanty Festival. Quickly served to some olives and squid fries. Service was excellent and courteous from an Aussie on his GAP year. Able to sit outside in relative warmth for mid September.

We booked for the Sunday lunch time based on a recent tv show & reviews and were not disappointed.

Classic English pub with a great location next to the water, from the side I think you have the best view. An excellent option if it's sunny, since you can take advantage of the tables it has outside. Traditional flavors, where of course fish n chips are not missing, but also more modern ones (salads, etc.). Large portions with reasonable prices that leave no one complaining. The only negative is that you can't reserve the tables outside (for food, I suggest making a reservation, especially on weekends).

My partner and I very much enjoyed our recent visit. The food and drinks were of an excellent quality and the service provided by the team was excellent. We can very much recommend the Fish & Chips and Pie of the Day, which on this occasion was a vegan option (I’m not vegan, but enjoy vegan options sometimes) and very delicious indeed! A lovely pub and even better if you are a Butcombe Loyalty member.

Popular pub on the harbour, good range of food and drinks

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the SS Great Britain and was very pleased I did! My server, Harry, was polite, friendly and very helpful, recommending that I try the chicken and leek pie which I did, and thoroughly enjoyed! I will definitely be stopping by again!

Food was ok, but the evening was let down by the slow service. We waited over half an hour after finishing our main course for the plates to be cleared. When saying to the server that we thought we had been forgotten about, she immediately got defensive to tell me how busy they were, yet I observed a table of 4 who had been seated by her and fed quite a while after us to have paid up and left whilst we were sat there with empty plates and wine glasses. We had been given a table tucked out of sight in the corner so it was quite obvious that she had forgotten we were there. Another bug bear is we ordered a bottle of the cheapest white wine, not once during the ordering process was the ‘buy 2 glasses - get the rest of the bottle free’ offer mentioned. A saving of about £6. I just happened to see it by chance hidden among other cards in the holder on the shelf above our table. We did get it changed by why not tell guests about it rather than expect them to rummage through a wad of cards? Unlikely to return, there is such a limited menu especially for vegetarians.

I enjoyed a very nice white fish stew which was excellent. Good service and value. My partner had fish and chips. The chips were a bit disappointing. The chips (fries) available at Underfall Yard are much better.

Food was amazing! Had roast pork and sticky toffee pud. Husband had roast pork and apple crumble. Couldn't fault it, food was lush, service top notch and toilets clean. Noisy when we went but that wasn't anything the pub could avoid, it was the tablets sat near us. Will definitely be back next time we are that direction!!!

Busy pub luckily some people were leaving so we had their table, excellent food, friendly staff and wide selection of drinks plus it's placed in a scenic spot by the harbour. There was a band playing whilst we were there too.

Lovely location right on the Harbourside. 4 hours of free parking give time for a meal and a brief walk about the Harbour. It’s a Butcombe pub, so that’s what is on offer which I enjoy. Have been on several occasions and the food has varied in quality. Nice fish and chips, and a lovely pie of the day. The lamb burger was disappointing when you had to search under the burger to find the almost invisible condiments and veg. Staff is friendly and helpful if a bit busy. Will likely return, yet order with care.

Lovely country style pub searching good food in a lovely atmosphere. The only drawback was that it was a Sunday and we were a group of 6. The table was booked in advance but when we arrived we realised we only had 1.5 hours before the next booking were due (personally that’s really not long enough, should be 2 hour slots minimum) Food was good, it was busy and one dessert got forgotten from the order, quickly resolved and then not charged for so you can’t really argue at that. - good service. Will defo come again!

food nice, terrible service.Booked table before hand, waitress left menu's 15 minutes later another waitress came and asked would we like desserts, i replied we've not had/ordered our mains yet! Apologies then someone took our order after another 5 minutes. Had our mains then asked would we like desserts, yes please, 20 minutes of waiting to take our order, nothing! Paid bill and left. Really need to work on their service. The pub wasn't that busy at the time.

Atmosphere was good and the staff were great, the Sunday lunch was alright but not exceptional and the prices were listed incorrectly on the menu vs the hand written board

Great place to go for a quick bite. In front of the water. The place is really busy but the service staff were friendly and helpful. Only thing I could pick on was the food, the fish and chips was excellent, but the Malaysian curry was tasteless in my opinion, chicken wings were too soft for biting, think it was boiled before tossed with some bbq sauce, would be nice to have the wings a bit more firm. Other than that, everything else was good. Really dog friendly as well, which is a big plus. Well done and keep up the good work.

Not up to scratch I'm afraid. Beer offering is still acceptable, tho, I'm baffled as to why the alcohol free version of an excellent beer (that butcombe brew) - Goram has been taken off the taps and is only available in cans now! Let me guess, it wasn't selling!! And to offer wine in anything but a wine glass is poor, we've had it in a tumbler and a gin glass. Order some blooming wine glasses maybe. As for the food, I became very fond of the Malaysian seafood curry, that's not happening any more. I'll post two pictures taken only a few months apart, it's a shame as it was a good dish. To be fair management took my meal off the bill. We will be back, mainly due to the location and quality of the beer, but not for another curry!

Very, very good pub. The grub (esp my vegan burger) was really good, excellent service, good atmosphere, lovely location by the river, reasonable prices and the staff were some of the best I've met. If I ever go back to Brizzle, I'm heading there. Well Done, The Cottage Inn!

Very disappointed, food was overpriced for what we had, chicken burger was so small tasted ok but had to take the lid off the bun to see the tiny bit of chicken inside, skin on fries were actually just frozen french fries, no garnish on plate and had an hour wait for food even though we had booked a table. Wish I had taken a photo, nothing like pictures shown on website.

Been to The Cottage Inn Bristol on three occasions now and firstly have to say the staff are always excellent. They seem to be young but have embraced the customer service ethos fully. The service and food are excellent and the setting is one of the best places I’ve been to. Go on Wednesdays and you can get 25% off which is an added bonus. Can’t recommend this place enough.

We booked a table on the evening of the Balloon Festival and arrived beforehand to watch the balloons go overhead. Getting drinks was easy as plenty of staff were behind the bar so getting served was actually fun as people in the queue were unstressed and in good spirits. When we sat down for our meal we were taken care of wonderfully by helpful, happy staff.....and the food was very good indeed. I had Malaysian sea food curry and rice which was delicious - and I don't bandy that term around lightly. All four of us agrees the food and service was fab. All in all the pub added to a brilliant evening and we will definitely go back. Big thank you to all.

Lovely place, lovely setting, shocking value for money on food. £7 for “loaded fries”!! Smallest portion of chips I’ve ever seen for £4.50! Have a pint but wouldn’t eat here again.

Lovely place in a perfect location. Great food and friendly staff. Fantastic classic British pub menu with great roasts on Sundays too. Perfect all year round with outdoors tables by the water for the summer and cosy booths and a fireplace for the winter. No complaints.

Lovely Riverside Pub. Sadly the food wasn't as good as when we last visited a few years ago. We had the Ploughman's which was very disappointing. The 1slice of Ham on the plate was the cheapest crumbed ham, the type from the local convenience store. I buy better quality for ourselves at home ! What a shame. It truly let itself down. They had also run out of Cider and Pale Ale and even Ice ! Obviously they were busy because it was sunny. But surely they could have been a bit more organised. However it is a lovely spot hopefully they will up their game.

Went with a friend (who is a regular) bearing in mind it was a very hot July evening, quiet a long queue at the bar and service was slow.We both ordered from the menu on the bar (the fish burger with chips £12.75 ) the meal was fine but when we went to pay the price had jumped to over £15.00 ? Won't be going back.

Lovely location next to the docks. We were given a nice, big table with plenty of room. The food was great as always and the staff very accommodation and friendly. I have taken one star off for service only because a couple of times we had to try and attract the attention of our server as we'd been waiting. They were very busy however.

Very Dog friendly pub. I asked for a table which would be suitable with space for a dog. A dog bowl of water was brought to our table as well. Very grateful as it was hot. Service was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. The loyalty card is fantastic if you don’t have one get one. Lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere.
