Disappointing Experience at Costa: Unacceptable Service, Untidy Environment and cigarette smoke in common areas. (Seated in back area) My recent visit to Costa at college green was thoroughly disappointing. The branch was unkempt, with tables left uncleared, giving off a disorganized vibe. However, what truly soured my experience was the appalling service from a staff member named India. Her rudeness and lack of professionalism were unacceptable. I don't normally leave reviews unless I receive exceptional service and unfortunately will be my first bad review. The service was such that I felt obligated to do so. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I feel that to take it out on their paying customers is bad form and not profitable for any branch that wants to stay in business. As an ex-barista that has worked in the service industry for (5+ years) this fell far below my expectations even at the worst of times. Regrettably, this encounter has led me to reconsider returning to this branch and Costa as a company has become my last choice and will remain in my bad books for some time to come because of this experience. With many superior cafes nearby, I see no reason to tolerate such poor service and ambiance. Costa management should take immediate action to rectify these issues.

It's a Costa, a bit battered around the edges. Standard Costa fair, no frills.

Just had a situation where we asked for a latte with oat milk which when we got our order there was no oat milk. We told this to the lady & we were very apologetic for the inconvenience and she was so rude, had a bad attitude and make us feel embarrassed infront of lots of customers

This branch of Costa Coffee cafes is no different to others around the country, in that their wares are of a similar quality. Being only interested in a coffee, I cannot comment on anything else. Being so close to a university, their clientele consists of many students. With the free wifi inside, it is the ideal location for a student to relax while researching with a coffee.

Location! Location! Location! Everyone knows Costa. I recommend this one only for the location if you can find the table alongside the window. Stunning view of the College green, cathedral, city hall….especially under the rainy day or bad weather (too windy), it’s the best choice on the street. P.S.: cake and coffee taste average, money for rent the best seat is okay.

I popped in here to pick up a coffee early in the morning whilst waiting for the bus to go meet friends. I had a queue but not for long. The staff were welcoming, friendly and my drink was made quickly. My drink was to go so didn’t sit in or have food so didn’t pay attention to the store.

They have a sticker on the door saying the love guides dogs.....but they actually don't love normal dogs ....what's the difference?still don't understand why guides dogs yes and other dogs no....in 2023 big chains like Costa...should be open also for dogs....

a lovely massive building, just wish more effort was put into the appearance, it’s so dull and cheaply designed it feels like an insult to the beautiful architecture. very few staff working there, many times there wasn’t anybody at the counter or in sight to take our order. ordered two large coffees- they gave us two small, for some reason, but they charged us for small, so i didn’t say anything.

Popcorn frappe had extremely overcooked coffee, while whipped vanilla latte was great. Nice atmosphere and library-stylized place.

I've rated it 5 but maybe something a bit less would be more appropriate. Problem to me was the complicated orders that take time (frappes, etc) when there were only 2 staff on duty. If you just want a coffee then be patient. Having said that - great coffee and a wonderful croissant. These are consistently good at Costa. Thank you.

One of the most tired looking Costa cafes in the city. Its situated in the perfect spot overlooking college green and council offices. Hot in the summer, would suggest to add window blinds to take the heat away from customers sitting in the window. Furniture is ill fitting, worn or too big for spaces, tired and dirty along with the general cleaning of the spaces. Back room, overflow, is set up to resemble a class room, which has no heart or atmosphere, not a pleasant space for a coffee and a chat. Whole place could benefit from one cohesive refurb including music, plants, comfortable seating and a well thought through place for all people to enjoy.

nice place to visit before and after work. dropping of kids to school, the staff are wonderful and helpful. coffee is always good quality the dining area is maintained, and customers also help out.

The two young men serving where very pleasant and were polite to a slightly difficult elderly gentleman who was a customer. However the place was quite messy and the whole place needed a brush down generally and a mop of the floors. I put this down however to perhaps the staff being a bit I overhwhelmed during the office lunch hour rush.

Ordered an Uber Eats on the 22nd of January 23. Order included a Chicken Pizza wrap. The wrap itself was mouldy with a line of blue mould running through the middle of it, only realised by eating some of it and realising that it tasted disgusting. No one would answer the phone at Costa, and so have no choice but to report to Food Standards Agency to stop them poising other people. Avoid at all costs.

went for coffe just after 9am small cue couple of customer in front of me took about 10 minutes to be served, the place looked untidy and only one team member working. a second team member joined service but didn't really looked like he wanted to be there and was more busy minding his business than serving. ordered a cortado to drink in but it was served on a ta cup as no glass was available. the coffe it self was more of a small latte than a cortado and quite tasteless. when needed to use the toilet took ages to get the security code to oock the door. only positive of the visit was the good WiFi connection

Goede koffie (let op: medium is hier een enorme kop). Prettige zaak met wat ingewikkelde "logistiek" en een eenmale code voor toilet.

Had this lovely server called will, and he helped me with everything and was so incredibly patient with me. Hands down best customer service I've ever received and will absolutely be coming again. Hopefully will is there! Would highly recommend giving this guy a tip he's absolutely wonderful!

Place is filthy, coffee not great and when my drink was exploding out the top of the straw hole and I asked for a new lid I was told that’s how it’s served. Well it’s not.

Always quick and friendly, brilliant interior and ideal location. There is room for improvement, it should be clearer where the 'to order' and 'to collect' lines are in the shop.

Absurdly slow. Took 5 minutes to make toast which was only toasted on one side. Wrong drinks made. Worst Costa we have ever visited.

I was working in bristol and needed coffee each morning, unfortunately the male staff on let the service down. I ordered a latte and only recieved half a cup, my syrup shot was forgotten and the toasted sandwich wasnt even cooked properly or cut in half, it is such a shame

Busy but clean store, probably because the sun was out, efficiently dealt with a queue of customers, service, flat white coffees and chocolate brownies were good, always seems to be the same blonde female member of the team working hard when i visit.. will return soon.

Two starts for the nice place, service was good, but this is Costa, and you guys are selling coffee, should it be top notch coffee for £3 and over? No doubt yes. Unfortunately ordered a capuchino and the barista tried to make more froth on already heated milk and completely burned it and served me like that. Asked to make another one, same guy made it this time with triple the amount of froth there is meant to be. C'mon guys, there are standards for a reason and if you do not like making coffee for people go do something else, very upset about this experience. Shout out to the supervisor as it seems that the grinder was set up correctly

Update your timings please. I arrived on a Friday at 16:30 to locked doors and a sign stating that you're open until 19:00.

Nice clean shop with a great view of college green, the dink I got (it was a raspberry fruit cooler) was great In taste. The drinks collection was out the way so wasn't immediately obvious but staff were very quick to point me in the right direction. Overall, a great experience

Got an ice capuchino and cold brew coffee for the 50p event. The capuchino was nice but the cold brew felt very weak. The staff looked really tired and there were drinks lined up on the side of the till that no body knew who it was for. The covid restrictions were great but there were a lot of people in the shop and felt a little unsafe. Great location with lovely bookshelf thou!

Visited today and ordered a frostino strawberries and cream which was absolutely awful! One stuff member (female, not sure what her name was) was not being polite at all though she wasn’t even the one taking my order. When I was waiting for my order, I’ve realised there was a sign saying ‘more seats here’ and I just popped my head because I was curious how big this Costa is. She noticed me and said annoyingly ‘excuse me, where are you going?’ I was not even close to the other hall. The order was taking time (not an issue I’ve seen there’s a lot of people and only two workers) I was standing next to the stand where they give out your order and she asked me if there was a reason for me to stand there😂 I replied I’m waiting for my order. When I got my order, it was disgusting (the girl was the one making it as well) I had a sip and that’s all I could do, felt absolutely sick. First time I use this Costa and absolutely disgusted. Pick any other coffee place on that busy street.

The service from this Costa is amazing. They are always super friendly and nothing is ever a problem. Bobbie and Karim also know when I’m in a rush and are always efficient

I ordered through the click and collect option via the app, walked straight into the restaurant and my order was ready at the collection point. A member of staff made sure I got my order, he was very polite, friendly and helpful. When ordering on the app it was easy to use and simple to understand. The only feedback I would give about the app is that it should have a comment section where customers can tell the member of staff any allergies that they may have. Overall, great experience will definitely recommended it whether eating in or takeaway.

I will always go for a Costa (if no independent cafe nearby). This Costa has lots of seating and offers good service. The Costa menu is consistent. I always generally have a positive Costa experience.

Stopped here with my 6 year while hubby went to a meeting, due to covid patrons are limited so we were lucky to get a table for an hour. It's much bigger than you think, there is a huge room at the back, beautiful high ceiling, nice and warm - it was cold and raining outside

Coffee and toasted tea cake was cold due to the icy blast from the air conditioning. I asked for it to be turned off but wasn't really met with a response. There's frostvand ice outside so AC ain't necessary.

Ordered a tea for two and was ask if I would like two pots or one , to make it easier I said one. The pot was so small I ask about it and was told you would get one and a half cups I said then it ain't a pot for two.

Not a bad Costa. Worked fast during the fairly busy hour I was there. Has a nice quaint aesthetic.

I came for my lunch break with my girlfriend. Despite being very quiet, we grabbed sandwiches and went to the till, the woman at the till saw us, then disappeared out the back for a few minutes as we stood not being served. We finally got served and found the two women behind the bar a little rude. We ordered 2 coffees, 2 sandwiches and a soup, I asked if we should go find a table and will they bring it over but they stayed silent. The girl making my coffee put no care in it, she grabbed the coffee and threw it in to the mug of milk, spraying it all over the counter in the process. I couldn’t fit everything on my tray so I walked some of it over to my table, and when I went back to the till/waiting area, my soup was just waiting for me, and the girls behind the bar just stood there. I found this slightly rude as I did struggle to take the food over to the table, and would’ve liked some help. Cleanliness was okay, but my soup was absolutely freezing and I didn’t have time to ask for it to be warmed up so I ate it cold. To pay almost £20 for bad service and cold soup with 2 sandwiches is not ideal. The scenery is lovely outside the window, just a shame inside is not good.

The last 3 times I’ve been into this costa the service has been SO slow. The two lads honestly seem stoned as they don’t seem to have a clue what’s going on. They just aimlessly wonder about as the queue gets longer and longer. I stood for 5 minutes waiting to get served and no transactions were taken during that time. There’s 3 members of staff, when the queue is getting longer, just vaguely moving a tray about and seemingly actively avoiding serving people isn’t helpful. I had to leave without getting my coffee. The place I normally go was having a till reset so I thought it would be quicker! I was wrong. Absolutely rubbish service. Much better places along this street, go ANYWHERE else

It’s astonishing how few places are open for breakfast at about 8.30am on a Sunday in Bristol. With the exception of a Wetherspoon’s pub every single cafe in the harbour district was closed despite a number of managers sitting drearily at their tills waiting to open in anything from thirty minutes to one and a half hours. This branch of Costa Coffee is in a great location opposite the cathedral although College Green was a sorry sight with litter still being cleared up following the Pride event yesterday. Whilst enjoying toasted sandwiches and coffee we could have had a read from the selection of donated books in a nearby cabinet. The only snag is for breakfast everyone had the same idea as us such that by the time we left there was a queue the entire length of the shop.

Really bitter coffee - disappointed

There is a worker here who tells me they don’t have cold brew, when I know they do. I usually come to this Costa within 30 minutes of closing time because of my schedule. I order a cold brew because there is no mess for the employees to clean. The new night worker is mean to me and lies every single time I order with him, and it’s so frustrating because I order a cold brew to help him out.

Visited today for takeaway lattes, the friendliest staff who answered all my questions about the process of coffee making in Costa and ran through all the syrups with me and my friend with no problem. Great experience, would 100% visit again
