The vibe here is sick but the game choices are mid at best.

If you love the Kongs in Cardiff then unfortunately you'll most likely be disappointed by this one as we were. Not many arcade machines (three or four that were working), no where near as many craft beers as Cardiff but in fairness there is plenty of seating. There is a ping pong table which is £10 for 30 mins or you can keep going until someone else wants to play. Or it seems you can just bring your own bats and ball and play for free as we found out when a couple jumped on as soon as we put a bat down. Sorrys Kongs we ended up going to NQ64 instead.

Awful. Got no place calling itself a Kongs. Handful of games and an awful beer selection. Can't believe Brum closed down but this place is still open.

I wouldn't really call this a games bar. Disappointed and most of the machines they do have were out of order

paid over 7 pounds for a pint of beer. plenty of good places in bristol, never going kongs again.... sometimes more is less, youre shooting yourselfs in the foot.

Very expensive and doesnt take cash, which is legal tender. Wont be returning.

Terrible place with scamming staff!! Never usually leave reviews but felt I had to for this!! So I ordered a round of 3 vodka lime sodas. Straight away myself and both friends realised there was no alcohol in them. I went to bar and politely said I think someone forgot to put vk in them. Bar staff immediately snapped at me (which made me suspicious) saying that I’m wrong and there defo is vk in there. I got him to taste it and he said there was vk in them. I then got him to pour a glass out of just soda to taste the difference. He continued to insist they had vk in. Then said he would get his manager because I carried on saying there wasn’t. When he turned around and went down the bar to get his manager, I switched the lime in my drink to the glass with just soda…. Manager comes over after speaking privately with the guy who served my drinks (suspicious again) tastes the just soda drink that i had put the lime in, immediately says there’s alcohol in there and that I’m lying!! I explain what I did and say I’ve caught them out trying to scam me and I wanted a new round of drinks … manager kicks us out. So I can only assume if you buy multiple rounds at this terrible bar they assume you’re to drunk and try get away with serving you just soda!! Spend money here and they reward you by scamming you !

Great beer selection but the bar and toilets have a massive fruit fly problem. No toilet roll either, or lock on the gents toilets.

Great bar always seems to have a good atmosphere when i have been. Mainly go for drinks with work colleagues.

Awesome place with loads of games available, with a fair amount of tables to sit at, both inside and outside. Games range from classic arcade games to things like ping pong, all need to be paid for either at the bar, contact-less for some, and coins for others. The drinks are lovely and the food was gorgeous, and the staff were amazing and helpful. Well worth a visit when in the area

Wanted something local and I ordered a sour beer from Good chemistry. I paid £8.... nothing else to say.

This is the 2nd time I've been to kongs, the first being pre covid it was too hot inside to fully enjoy it I'm not sure if the aircon was broken but the heat was unbearable, they could do with a few more arcade machines too

Do not order food here!!! We waited over an hour for tacos. There were just 2 of us, and we chose to eat here thinking it would be a quick bite. It wasn't even busy at all. After 45 minutes we asked about where our food was and we were told 5 minutes. 20 minutes later, we still had received no food and no compensation. Eventually, after getting the food, it was very basic. Flat wrap with cheese, basically Very disappointed overall. Will not be ordering food here again

Love a good dance. A cheeky late night dance after work on a Saturday night with your team goes a long way. Thank you Kongscrew!!

Had a really fun night here played banger after banger

I was quite excited about the prospect of a retro gaming bar but the experience was actually pretty rubbish all around. 8 out of our 15 strong stag do headed to Kong's, and none of us is especially yobbish or "laddy" just mates catching up after years. Our first interaction was a rude security guard, with no greeting or preamble other than "how many are you!?, If one causes trouble, you're all out!" Which I get must happen a bit in Bristol being the party city that it is, but massively unwarranted seeing as I simply said: "good evening mate, is there room for 8 of us?". The doorman seemingly has no idea of how to respond to other human beings in a way that makes them want to spend money in an establishment. Enter the venue itself, (which the photos on the website massively over-glamourise!) and you are confronted with a dark, dingy and cheerless grothole with all of maybe 7 arcade machines, significantly less than the marketing and website would suggest. The bar itself is quite unhelpfully 'cash free', which seems counterintuitive given that you need change to actually play any of the working arcade games. Beers are overpriced compared to most Bristol bars and the spirit and mixer I had was watery and not enjoyable, although I will concede that some of the bitterness of the drink might have been the leftover tang of the moronic security's bad manners. This was honestly one of the worst bars I have ever been too, I have been in wetherspoons that have more uniqueness, character and cheerful staff to boot. If the door staff are concerned about a 'bad element' coming in then perhaps they need to think about the vibe that they give off themselves. Consider firing the surly neanderthals barring the gate from well meaning punters, get some working games that you can hire as part of the table cost and stop watering down your drinks.

Great night. A large range of beers and spirits, good prices. Great DJ and good mood. We'll most certainly come back

Nearly 2 hour wait for a burger, only one person in the kitchen and then they run out of food, also the selection of games available is minimal which was the biggest draw here!

Kong's is a great bar, especially when the pubs on king's street shut. Good choice behind the bar, with arcade machines and ping pong available to play while you drink.

I came here with my friends and had the worst customer service ever. We ordered food, finally after being ignored at the bar for ages. We waited around 2 hours for it so went to the bar to question what was happening. Only to to be told that the kitchen was closed. Waste of time and money.

There's a good selection of drinks but more expensive than London prices! The food I had (beef tacos) was very spicy but didn't taste great. Again, food was overpriced. I wouldn't mind paying the prices if the games were free to play... charging for the arcade games was a bit lame especially since half of them didn't work with broken buttons... I was quite excited about this place... great concept, but sadly didn't live up to expectations.

Pub with loud music 🤪🎶 and slot gaming consoles 🎮🎯🕹️ Very popular among youngsters. Not ideal for chit-chatting in groups, with loud music it gets difficult to hear 🙉🤣

£7.20 is an absolutely ridiculous price for a pint of moretti. I wish I would have realized the cost before as I wouldn't have bothered. Moretti is a pretty standard lager much better value pubs on the same street. Staff also rude. Such a shame as I used to love kongs won't bother again

One of the few places in Bristol to play pinball. They have three modern Stern tables, £1 per credit, payment by contactless.

Fairly grungy and not a great selection of ciders.

Not a big fan because it's hard to hear your friends.

Ordered Nachos, came after over 45+ mins. Orders are not taken accordingly, followed up couple of times. Others who ordered after us, got their orders, right in front of us.

02/23 UPDATE. Used to love this place. But pints are £6.30!!!! or so, at least £6.. Jesus. So yes, no more. Good-bye. Be warned.

Not a bad place, but people have hyped it more than it should be,pinball is cool and some retro games to bring back good old memories and having some fun. It's worth a visit but don't expect an immersive gaming experience

Poor selection of games for a "gaming bar", seems they just want the retro gaming theme to be "cool" without the actual games. Full of laddy louts who were punching the (few) machines and screaming the c-bomb. I can recommend the Four Quarters in London instead, an actual gaming bar without the hate!

Fun bar with plenty of games to pick from, only problem is that a lot of them are damaged/defective so be wary of which side you pick if you're competitive 😂

A fun pub with arcades and other games.

This is probably the worst vegan burger I have ever eaten. I used to come here and they had such a good menu of vegan options but this time my burger was literally sweetcorn (spiced) in a bun (which went everywhere). On top of this, we had a range of cheesy chips (some with vegan cheese, some without cheese altogether) and it was all mixed up and the quality was awful. Very disappointed because I used to love Kong's.

Great atmosphere but the choice of beer was only ok.

Would happily sell us full, nice pints at 1 minute before closing time, not warn us and then kick us out into the rain with unnecessary aggression when we politely pointed out that they could have at least warned us they were about to close before taking our money. Really awful experience with aggressive security staff. I won't be returning. Thanks for ruining what was a nice night.

Booked a table but turned up to being told this has "fallen through the system" and that we just had to find something that is free. The retro games and all paid, very short lived and there are very few of them. Ordered food (just fries) which they somehow managed to screw up and were late as well as tasting like plastic. The games feel like an afterthought and nothing is really unique about this place. Won't ever visit again.

Walked in around 7pm on a Wednesday evening. Waited at the bar for 10 minutes whilst one of the two bar people was having a nightmare at the till taking a food order. The other was doing a stock take despite a fair number of people waiting (at 7pm, really?) After 10 minutes, they gave up with the till and went to find a manager, leaving the bar completely unattended and a number of customers waiting. The stock taker had also gone AWOL. At this point I gave up and left. We were about to spend at least 50 quid on food and drinks. I guess businesses like this only survive on custom from students who couldn't care less about shocking service!

Overhyped Arcade machine are a nice addition but that's the only thing going for it

We visited here on an afternoon out on the beers it wasnt particularly busy but its a great venue with old school video games and pinball machines scattered around the floor space. Loads of booze options I should imagine its quite lively in the evening will definitely be back to find out.

Atmosphere is great...games would be fun ...but didn't accept Scottish notes so I wouldn't know. Slightly zenophobic

Rather inconsistent rules about food from the bar staff and the bouncer outside. They weren't serving food the bar said you can get a takeaway and eat it at one of the outside tables. Bouncer was being pedantic and made us eat it at another table nearby.

Nice place to have few drinks and play some arcade game, table tennis and fussball. can get quite busy at peak time but service at the bar is still fast with good selection of beers spirits and cocktails

I visited with my family during the day for a quick drink and it was quiet but very nice and clean. It's probably a buzzing place during the evening.

A fantastic spot to spend a night in Bristol. This weekend was my second visit here. The staff are super friendly, yes even the bouncers. Its a really welcoming space and has a great atmosphere. The music's great and the service is quick. I can't fault the place, I will definitely be returning. Good amount of outdoor space for smoking/vaping too. I will add there was a troublesome customer the last night I was in. The bouncers handled it very well, they were able to remove him from the premises very efficiently without being 'heavy handed or causing a scene.

It’s fun enough when you get in. Difficult to get served at the bar though. Woman’s toilets are average - bit smelly and you’re lucky to find toilet roll after 10. They don’t let you in after 1am. This should be better advertised. Still, it’s free to get in which is ok.

Quirky and retro , relaxing atmosphere worth visiting on a night out

Good place for a social meet up. Open plan with an outdoor sitting area. The best bit is the selection of games. From a table tennis to Mortal Kombat arcades. Very retro vibes. Food is reasonably priced and has a standard selection of drinks. Nothing fancy about this place but a great place to hangout with friends.

Great vibe and atmosphere for those that are looking to go out, get drunk, and have fun.

What a fantastic night out, with good beers and friendly staff

Terrible drinks choice, the sound system lacked any bass whatsoever and lighting was poor to non-existant. Having worked for some of the best venues, events and events companies around the world, the one word that springs to mind for Kongs is consistency. Constantly great music, a consistently abismal atmosphere and a consistently disgusting attitude of both senior management and security staff. Frankly, the Bristol night scene would be better off if the place was shut down.

Saturday gone 6pm and was told to be quiet by a bar tender ( guy with the Tash)… this is a bar with table games and loud music and they expect everyone to be quiet? we made no more noise than the people playing table tennis. Absolutely Ridiculous and rude, was planning on spending our night there but left after one drink.

Too expensive for what it is and attracts a bad crowd. Toilets in a state and poor security. Lazy DJ music and not enough space to try and enjoy it.

The games are fun, just avoid on Friday/Saturday. Music is trash, bouncers are aggy (especially the ginger one who thinks he’s God’s gift).

Super fun, one of my favourite bars in Bristol.
