Cosies in Bristol, City of

Disgusting behaviour from the so called security staff acting more like mobsters. Intimidating and rude! It used to be my go to place but after my last visit I won't set foot there again. Maybe to fill in a formal complaint about the door men who are acting like glorified close protection guards

Bristol is the birthplace of dnb. This place is as close about being the first one as any. But here you can also be sure to meet lots of interesting people.

Cool little space with a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately severely let down by unnecessarily rude and aggressive door staff. Feel like this needs to be addressed by Cosies management as it seems to be becoming a recurring theme. My last experience at Cosies with the door staff was so negative that it's put me off coming here ever again

Thought I'd pop in for old times sake but was given a very hostile welcome from the door staff. I was on a date, we are both in our 40s but were given so much attitude that I really didnt feel like going inside, because if this is the vibe then why are we paying £10 on the door to hang out in one cellar after being made to feel like idiots? Cosies can have a nice atmosphere but after this interaction with the door staff I don't think I will bother taking any other friends there. It was such a shame because once inside despite it being very quiet the music was great.

Lives up to its name. Really nice intimate venue. The lack of space means you get to know it's friendly clientele quickly. Good choice if you want to get to know new people, or if you like clubbing but not giant crowds.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by security recently, turning the lights on and screaming (literally top of their lungs) at DJs to stop playing music before closing and threatening the promoter. sad state of affairs for a culturally valued venue

Rude stopped serving at 255 even tho said 3am/4am closing got aggressive when asked why they have stopped serving blaming his girlfriend then when we left he came out screaming and shouting had to be pulled back by the security don't go not worth it

Absolutely love cosies, such a great lil venue... the manager is an absolute legend wouldn't be the same venue without her running the place and the events have a great range, I've been coming here for years. Security are sound and fair, the other bar staff are also lovely.

Staff are well rude and I'm pretty sure I saw one of the female staff picking up drugs outside from a guy in a car but that's none of my business! Weird vibe in there I'd say avoid but they have some good dancehall nights which is a shame cus I wouldnt go here again.

Lovely bar, very friendly experience all round.

A place where is no respect by security, where customers are primary part of keeping a venue alive and a security has a responsibility of respecting their customers and keeping them safe and making their experience fun, rather, this place has an obvious disrespect to its customers. There are holding an event for solidarity for Palestine where tickets go as donations to support Gaza but instead disrespecting probably the only me Palestinian-Gazan that was there. Disgusting and despicable behaviour and attitude towards people. Never back again. Update regarding their reply: The place was packed with over 100 people and obvious no SPACE for anyone even in the smoking area, entrance was blocked by multiple people but I WAS THE ONLY ONE SHOUTED AT with DISRESPECT. It’s AGAINST THE LAW TO HAVE OVER 100 people in a venue where is only one EMERGENCY EXIST. EXPECT COUNCIL REPORT SOON.

Decent enough late night bar with dancefloor and music. Barman poured gin and coke when we asked for JD and coke, and then refused to change it despite it being his mistake, very rude.

Amazing atmosphere for a chilled night out. There is no better place to hit on a Sunday night. Be there with your friend or colleague you will have a guaranteed great time.

I live next to cosies and the amount of fights that happen outside of cosies is absurd. Literally screaming everytime this place opens, including fights. Highlights include two men screaming at each other at 2am. Followed by the screams of one of their girlfriends after one of them smacked the other. The bouncers are great but staff seems to not care that they're letting people get drunk to the point of fighting every night, or that they're allowing these people back regularly. I know they deal with stuff inside well, but it seems like once you're out the door you can do whatever. Got offered coke by someone stood outside of cosies as well whilst walking past to my house. Update 12/2/2022 Great response. Would be great if it weren't for the fact that one of your customers came out your place and just lobbed my bin half way across the street. Will update each time this happens for you :)

The best fried chicken ever..we had an amazing meal for 2 for under 18 quid..lovely staff and brilliant playlist...total hidden gem

Visiting Bristol and went to drink myself under the table on a friend’s recommendation. Didn’t get past the bouncer as was told there is a £5 cash only cover charge. Sadly as I live in 2022 and ApplePay won’t do for a cash only payment, I’ll have to drink literally anywhere else lolz

We witnessed that crazy one sided 'fight' last week! Why didnt the staff throw out the women when they chucked a JUG at that girl??? There was blood. It could have been so much worse. How was it okay for them to stay and keep drinking? How was it okay for them to then attack these girls further?

Horrific!!! We saw three middle aged women attack two young girls. First these women THREW a pitcher at one of the girls and cut her head. THEY DIDN’T GET ASKED TO LEAVE. Then a bit later, the older women dragged the girls to the ground and started kicking them. Avoid, unless you know how to take care of yourself . Not my idea of a fun night out.

I like it there. Just wish it wasn't so cramped! For a place called cosies its more swamped, and over stuffed than it is cosy! Great music. Awesome sound system. Friendly staff and good crowds are drawn. Just too popular for how small and exclusive it really is! ;)

Fantastic evening at Cosies World famous Reggae Sunday's as always. Great staff, selectors and customers, do drop by.

Described aptly by one of my friends as the "living room of the city centre", this mini underground tunnel-esque bar come small nightclub certainly lives up to it's name. The nights are cheap, the venue feels welcoming and friendly, and water is always freely available on the bar (top marks). Though the queues for the toilets (that, when you are in them feel like you are in an old American Western movie) can be a little long and the staff can be somewhat brash during closing time it's all part of the lively cosies experience, and an experience I would recommend if you are looking for a relatively cheap, fun and friendly night out close to the city centre.

Good music and good atmosphere until late Sunday night around 3am when it becomes really dodgy... Been insulted by two Jamaicans (obviously too high) because I was speaking french with my mate!

I can Imagine for food/drink in a cosy pub, It's probably a lovely place. However, to host and underground electric event... it was all so strange, the set up and sound system in my opinion were awful, especially the sound system which in turn didn't justify the experience or the dj/producer playing, it all just felt messy. It's a shame as it was an insane line up, but never again.

It's all in the name, a very comfortable venue to dance all night or chill with a few drinks. Hadn't been there in ages and they've now extended their seating capacity on the pavement just opposite the club to accommodate few more tables. Brilliant memories from this place and always good vibes!

Staff were great. One of the bar staff asked if a guy was harassing us and offered to remove him discretely if so. Everything was fine, but the sentiment was appreciated. Strong rum punch too - perfect!

Great to be back now they have a seating area on street level and the Jerk BBQ food is amazing 😁

Go and have a drink there. Support it through tough times as this little club is a true Bristol landmark. When it reopens, don't go there to instagram yourself downing a rum. Go there for a night of dancing in a properly intimate little cellar club.

Cosies very popular very bristling very friendly it's a place were you can chill, the music is ,Jam grove funky reggae soul drum and bass and house it's a wicked staf friendly door man .when you leave its always quiet taxi are on stan bye outside. Cosies one of the best chill out places in BRISTOL.

We spent £10 specifically on a taxi to get to cosies, however, when we arrived, although there was still 15 minutes left of service, we were very rudely turned away by a member of staff on 26/09/19. Because of this ridiculous behaviour by the woman at the door, we were left foolishly wondering what to do with our night and have spent a lot of money for some pretty appalling service. Me and my friends shall not be returning here any time soon!

This is an interesting place, they kinda tried to fit in with this nae age modern pub stroke community feel, and it works in a way, there's the usual fare on offer but if you fancy something a little more faffy then this place can offer that as well, the music's good, but it's a small place so can feel extremely crowded at times

Se encuentra en lo que podría llamar una antigua bodega, y tal como su nombre indica es cosy hasta el punto de embriagarte durante la noche, con música en directo, artistas locales, etc. El sistema de sonido nada tiene que envidiar de otros clubes en Bristol, todo el que no encuentre algo que hacer un domingo por la noche, les recomiendo que se pasen y vean por si mismo uno de los mejores lugares para pasar una noche inolvidable.

Cosies is located in what looks to be a wine cellar. It has a fun and, dare I say it, cosy atmosphere created by the cool curving brick ceiling. The downside of this space is that it can get super cramped on a busy night and getting to the toilet requires you to cross the dance floor from the bar.

This place is usually our last stop, if we were drinking around this area... which means I hardly remember this place. All I remember it being cramped and candle wax?? The only reason I gave it five stars because of the staff, I can kinda remember them being really nice staff and attractive.

I can say with full mouth, this is one of the bestest intimate places in Bristol if you are looking for a good vibe and you like Reggae and Dub this definitely is the place you wanna go! I still being a regular customer at least on the bless Reggae Sunday's. Very chilly place the only thing can be odd is the fact the space is small but you get used to it for sure ! :)

As the name suggests, it's a very modest sized wine cellar that at night becomes a jumping little club. Good quality music/DJs just don't expect to get much room to dance. A staple of the St Paul's area with a historically Caribbean heritage.

Reasonable drinks deals but over crowded when busy.

Good after after after party destination if u need that sort of ting.
