We had a great visit to the Cornishman at the weekend. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was fab and the waiting staff were so friendly and welcoming.

My wife and grandkids ate here several times whilst on holiday and the food was amazing especially the fish chowder 😋and the staff were brilliant,we will definitely be coming back soon for a few more pints of Atlantic as well.🍺🍺🍺👍

Amazing food and great the service. I ordered the halloumi burger and it was the best I've ever had. Fully recommend to anyone living locally or tourists.

Had fish pie its not a fish pie i recognise staff were lovely but please maybe try a new recipe potato on top was watery not sure what the sauce was or the fish sorry not impressed

A very welcoming, busy pub. Called on a Thursday evening to book a table for 10 of us, as food was so disappointing on the holiday park we were staying at, they said they would squeeze us in! We arrived, table all set up lovely, staff were friendly. We ordered our food and a short time later all our meals came out together. Food was amazing!! It didn't touch the sides! Prices were more than reasonable and portions were massive!!

Well worth a visit, staff friendly, great location, small car park though. If you are lucky enough to be there when The Old Sailors are performing, you are in for a treat. We had chilli nachos and chicken burger

Don't know wether the guy didn't like me but tried to ignore me twice. After waiting for 25 minutes before was allowed to order, the food never showed. Everyone ordered after me had their meals. When I asked the waitress why my meal hadn't turned up she said would check. 5 minutes later the guy who took my order showed up and said there was a miscommunication with the kitchen. You give them the ticket they make the meal. Not sure how that could happen. Waitress was fine so not blaming her. Any how never got the food and left.

Great pub, with a decent beer garden and outdoor covered space under gazebo. A great place to see intimate gigs but my faves of past 2 years have to be the Old Time Sailors! Always set the place off!

We visited when the Old Time Sailors were playing. What an atmosphere! The whole place was absolutely buzzing! Great food (and lots of it), friendly staff, and a great range of drinks. It's really stolen a march on the Albion across the road, which is now looking more and more in need of a thorough shake-up.

Bad, after queuing for ages they argued a number is on the table when trying to order food, they're wasn't. Staff member offered to take order as was clearing up outside. Asked for pulled pork pizza to be told don't do them even though it is on the menu? We live here so wouldn't be back again if i was a tourist.

Great atmosphere, service was extremely efficient and generous portions. Haven't visited in over 20 years and it is very child and dog friendly.

Absolutely great experience here (certainly when compared to the albion on the other side of the road!! - where they served us yesterdays rock hard re-heated desserts, which also looked like vomit, and the staff were arguing with each other whilst trying to serve us!). Thankfully, we decided to give the "other pub" in Crantock a go, and we're so happy we did. On arrival, the place was spotlessly clean and we we're greeted with a cherry smile. The owner, Dave, Was very friendly, letting us try various drinks before settling on a preferred choice then set up the woodburner for us to enjoy our meal... which was delicious (and very well priced (again, compared to the albion). My wagyu burger, with cheese and bacon was perfection, plus our other 3 meals were just as good (pesto/Mozzarella/tomato panini... full breakfast - £8 and £10 "double up" options available, chilli chips, and the breakfast bap). The drinks were fresh, layout was lovely, garden spacious, music delightful, big carpark at the back, sport on HD TVs... and the overall experience was just fantastic. Highly recommended 👌🏼

My friends and I visited the cornishman last september and had a roast dinner and returned again today and enjoyed another roast plenty of it I never have room for desert....also its dog friendly a big plus as we have two dogs with us.

I had lamb jalfrezi with rice (also a naan bread, poppadum, onion bhaji, mango chutney and mint raita). Absolutely fantastic and incredibly generous portions. Also superb Guinness and really great staff. All in all, a lovely night.

I’ve just had the BEST pie and mash ever!

Had some meals this week, Burger, Pizza and today I had the Katsu breaded chicken. It was absolutely brilliant. I thought the be previous were good but this on tonight has me doing something I don’t usually do and give a review.

We had a fabulous night here on Thursday. We ate the most amazing home made steak and ale pie with chips and veg, followed by a really enjoyable time doing the pub quiz. Staff very friendly, service very good. A real gem of a Cornish pub, where I will definitely go back to.

A warm welcome, great food, lovely staff and a good atmosphere with a log burner kept topped up all evening. Plenty of parking too. Would definitely recommend.

Can’t believe some of the reviews as in our experience this pub is friendly, welcoming with a great atmosphere, food and staff. This is not our first visit to the area and we love it , we feel like part of the community each time we visit in. We make an effort to integrate which isn’t difficult. You feel welcome if you’re local or not. We love the different themed food evenings and ate at the curry night that was excellent ( huge portions) good choice and a massive bhaji. We love the quiz night and always take part (and fail miserably) The pie night coincides with the quiz and the pies are home made , massive and very generously filled and included a drink. Pete who does the quiz is excellent at it and includes a raffle to take part in play your cards right for cash prizes. We were fortunate enough to win a £50 prize which made up for our poor performance on the quiz. Happy memories of this great pub.

Finally found the best pint of Guinness in the area by a mile! Not saying that lightly as I’ve had a fair few during my search. Great staff, dog friendly and plenty of tables outside with parking aswell!!! It’s a must visit if you are staying nearby on your hols

We visit The Cornishman regularly when In Crantock. Lovely pub with lovely staff and lots of events during the summer season and the quiz/play your cards right on a Thursday evening is great fun. Dog friendly day and night!

Called in for a quick lunch and drink we were amazed at the quality of the food it was great with generous portions, we had a warm friendly welcome .. brilliant 👌 and it's dog friendly 👍

We only stopped in briefly, but the staff were friendly, the drinks were nice, and the pub itself had a really nice look about it. Never sampled the food, but didn't think it was fair to put a low star rate just because we didn't eat.

We stayed in the nearby parkdean holiday park and walked into Crantock Village. A great pub. Friendly service and good beer. Didn't eat here but the food smelt lovely

We had a lovely meal at the Cornishman whilst staying in Crantock. The fish, chips & mushy peas were delicious as was the salmon. Staff are really friendly & the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Nice little country pub, didn't have food, so can't comment on that, but there was a good range of drinks for old and young, staffvwere friendly and there was plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Nice for a drink if you're in the area.

Phenomenal pie. Without doubt the best steak and ale pie I've had. Staff very friendly too. Doom bar and pie. Awesome. I'd give it 6 start. Try the pie!!

Fabulous. I'm so pleased to say this pub has returned to its previous excellence!! Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the fish and chips, mushy peas were also included which were lovely and sweet, The chips were crispy and the succulent cod covered in crispy batter. Will definitely be returning!!

Late lunch Sunday Roast. We booked earlier in the week and wanted the last time available. We were asked to choose from Beef, Lamb or Chicken to make sure our preferred meal would be available. A friendly welcome as always here, our roast arrived promptly. It was hot, visually pleasing, plentiful and more importantly very tasty. All vegetables cooked well, beef extremely succulent and tasty. Extra gravy and a bowl of delicious cauliflower cheese appeared soon after. All in the price £15. Would definitely recommend!

Another great stay . Very relaxed holiday amazing walks on beach with our dog whatever the weather . Caravans modern and all park staff very friendly and helpful.

Great pints and atmosphere as usual. Fantastic food last year (2022) but have you changed chef? On 'Old Time Sailors' Monday a very limited menu, we fully understand that but to serve up two Burnt Black pizzas😡, no self-respecting chef would send those out. Then on Thursday Pie night we waited for nearly an hour😡. Our meals were just ok but franky disappointing compared to our previous experiences.

Recently refurbished pub in the village center. Friendly staff who make you feel wanted as a customer, more than I can say for the Albion Inn. No food at the moment as kitchen has not been finished, but good selection of beers etc. Had a few great nights here while on holiday. Good to see the Cornishman doing well, all the best to the new owners. ONE YEAR UPDATE, sept22. Now doing great food, staff still great, best pub in the village. UPDATE sept23, Cornishman team still going from strength to strength, recommended 👍

Was going to eat hear,but was overlooked at the bar infaivour of Neanderthal barman serving locals.Had the one drink while listening to clientele farting and decided it wasn’t for us

We came here when most other places kitchens were closed. The Pizzas were fresh and tasted really good, nothing special but just a good base and toppings (although if you ask for Jalpenos you get a whole jar it seems...which is a good or bad thing depending how much you like them) There was a quiz on when we visited on a Thursday night, bar staff friendly and just an all round good atmosphere. It's gone through a bit of change over the years, so it was great to see it busy and buzzing.

Had a great evening here Mon 11th Sept to see the Old Time Sailors who were absolutely amazing!! Really enjoyed the Newquay Rowing club singers aswell. Big thanks also to all the staff who worked really hard on an extremely busy night.

Didn't book and it was a busy Sunday but made welcome and fitted us in and made us welcome. Food was spot on, and pub was very dog friendly. A further visit later in the year, again forgot to book but we're squeezed in. Once again, excellent! Return visit September 2023, just as good!

After ordering a burger for my son (who is autistic) I experienced the worst customer service imaginable. The burger was claimed to be a grilled chicken burger. When it arrived it was covered in a sauce. My son will only eat plain food. We politely requested another burger without sauce to be met with ‘I’ve never known any burger come without a sauce’ When we explained that it needed to be a plain burger this was refused. We asked for a refund but this was refused. The waiter went to get a manager, who didn’t engage with us but spoke about us to the waiter shaking their heads and looking incredulous that we should be asking for another burger. The manager said we can have another burger. I asked for clarification that the burger would come without sauce and the waiter stated that ‘of course it will as that’s what you asked’ in a patronising tone. The manager even said ‘even McDonald’s burgers come without sauce’ I suggest the manager widens his horizons to learn about different dishes and added sauces. If he visits a McDonalds soon he may even learn that he can edit the menu to order a burger without sauce!!! I’m on holiday, could’ve done without having an argument over a burger. Unbelievable that I’m even having to write this as this could’ve been sorted very easily and without issue.

A busy rainy Friday night welcomed warmly a table found for 5 good food

Busy evening and yet only one poor fellow in a Guinness top running all the food, literally running around. Half the menu was unavailable, choices were either burger or salad. Stupidly high table that we had to clear ourselves. Fair enough if you had delivery issues and ill staff.

Had an absolute fantastic evening great entertainment and value for money

Very disappointing visit. Completely unorganised and chaotic. Lack of staff didn't help the situation, there was one chap running around. Five deep at the bar. Tables left uncleared and dirty. The food was poor.

We visited this pub three times during our stay near crantock and found the staff very nice and friendly great food and a nice seating area inside and out would definitely visit again next time we are in Newquay.

Brilliant band on but bar couldn't cope with the amount of people. Pop up burger bar was great. Pop up outside bar would be good to cater for the numbers. Food looks amazing. Planning to eat there this week.

This pub/ restaurant is terrible. We went as two families whilst on Holiday. We have been visiting Crantock for the past 25 years and I’d never eaten here before. It was my birthday and my friends birthday during our weeks holiday so we thought we’d enjoy a nice meal together. What ruined it for us? Where do I start? … the biggest point I would say is that the locals all sit up at the bar drinking and it is evidently clear that they think the pub belongs to them and they do not want the tourists in there, the same feeling comes from the staff and the Landlord. The frustrating point about this is that they must realise a place as big as the Cornishman and the overheads that come with it it, needs the revenue from the tourists otherwise the unfriendly locals will not have a pub to visit. The food was terrible and over priced, we only ate half of it and I told the waitress it was terrible but wasted by breath as she wasn’t bothered and then the moaning from the locals started - gossiping about us loud enough so that we could hear. The Landlord was stood there, extremely unprofessional and I highly recommend that you take your business elsewhere and eat at either the Albion Inn across the road or the Bowgie further out of Crantock but with beautiful views. The Landlord needs to start taking note of all customers, making everyone feel welcome and not let the locals take over.

Nice, clean, modern bar. Great for watching sport on the big tvs etc. The fish and chips are superb. Just feels a tiny bit soulless compared to other pubs in the area. Generally a good experience though.

Great pub, good size car park as well

Nice pub friendly staff and nice beer, food is also really tasty - Visited last week for dinner. Unfortunately they were short staffed and we ended up waiting over 1.5 hrs for our food (2 burgers and chips). Chased twice before it finally arrived - when it did it was good but by then we were pretty much done waiting and past hungry. No discount offered or free drinks Etc, couldn't be bothered to complain as on holiday. They were busy but you cannot excuse 90 mins for 2 meals. Would go back but expect better service next time

After problems getting served at the Old Albion we crossed the road to the Cornishman. Although they were very busy we were greeted warmly and the staff were all helpful. Food was very good and we made this our first stop on the way back...

Nice pub atmosphere with good pub grub, friendly staff. Good outdoor areas all round the pub. Good for family meals. Service very risk but it was not very busy as was midweek not in school holidays.
