Usually I’d want to balance a review, but the experience, considering I was with my wife and 3 children all under 8 was nothing short of disgusting. We had 2 kids meals, one of which was a fish and chips, I ordered an adults LARGE fish, when it came I thought it was the same size as the child’s and certainly smaller than illustrated or previously experienced. I called the waiter back to say it was the same size he said mine was fatter and walked off, after he left I laid one on top of the other and realised it was thinner and shorter than the child’s but for a small tag off the side. I said “excuse me” called him back again and said it’s neither longer or wider, he said “what do you want me to do about it”, I said it’s not an adult portion (I’ve attached a spot the difference picture - adults was with peas), he then said again “I’m not the chef what do want me to do about it”, again not in a friendly way, I said I don’t want it and I don’t want to pay for it. He told me he’d speak to the manager then walked off calling me an “f…ing a…hole”, I asked him him to repeat his comment he didn’t, I waited for a manager for a few minutes then went to the bar and took said plate with me. A manager spoke to me, I said I didn’t want it and would like meal refunded he offered me it for free and promised to refund my meal, I thanked him. Returning to my table I had a bite and offered my wife a bite and realised it was dry, the skin could be bent and hold form and left it. I thanked the manger again and said I didn’t think the waiters response was appropriate in front of my children and he said he couldn’t comment. The manager did offer the kids a dessert which we declined and left with the refund for the one meal and a drink. My daughter’s fish was equally dry so not an isolated incident. I had a bad experience here years ago and despite it being my nearest pub for 13 years didn’t return until more recently and in honesty I’ve had some good meals since, however after today I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Visited in April and loved it. Wanted somewhere to see in the new year and saw the copper beech was putting a little something on. We have 2 dogs so needed to be dog friendly. The copper beech did not disappoint. Very accommodating with the dogs. The food was unbelievably good and plentiful. The staff were amazing and very attentive. Thank you all for a fab evening and great way to see in the new year. We will be back! Happy new year!!

Came here for our family Christmas party yesterday, brilliant as always, big portions, friendly staff and always a great atmosphere, can’t recommend this place enough

Worst carvery ever here didn't bother complaining to staff as they were busy with Christmas partys,we had the small carvery and a child's the small we find is enough my son had the same amount on his plate as us the portion was the same he's 11 and only just had enough on his plate yet us adults the food tasted ok,but no vfm here compared to other local venus,havnt been for a while I remember why now,been going for 11 plus years on the way to hospital it'll have to up its game.

Attended the Copper Beach Costessey today for a last minute birthday meal. Decided on a carvery which i have not had an issue with prior to today. Firstly, the person in charge of the carvery made us wait for at least 5-10 minutes to get served, he was rude when serving also. He was stingy with portion sizes of stuffing and meat. Upon starting to eat the carvery we found that the potatoes were fresh but overcooked, therefore inedible. This issue was dealt with fairly quickly and we felt the waiter was very apologetic. He also gave us a portion of chips for free, which was not expected.

Food is ok staff very friendly. The supervisor accused my dog of pooing near the bar. She said my dog stopped there and did it. Firstly I walked my dog straight out, not stopping. She insisted it was poo so I picked it up and showed her it was small pieces of chocolate cake!!!! She assured me it came out of my dogs backside. RIDICULOUS

Amazing staff, venue and food . We hold a meet up every month and copper beech never disappoint , staff literally can't do enough for us and we are made to feel so welcome every time.

Visited the Copper Beech today and ordered a small carvery and a glass of coke. Fantastic friendly service from staff. Great value for money. Elaine attended to me. I have visited this place a few times now and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Staff are very friendly and hard workers. Went for a Sunday roast and the portion sizes for very good and the meat was really good quality. Enjoyable restaurant with pool table and slot machines for entertainment also if you just want a drink. Will recommend to family and friends.

My sister has just moved into the area and we were looking for somewhere to eat after a day of DIY getting her flat ready. We were vaguely aware of this restaurant having visited local shops and thought we’d try it for an early evening meal. We didn’t have the carvery but food ordered from the menu. We wanted comfort food which we decided was burger and chips for both. We were both disappointed with the food when it arrived, the chips had black flecks on them which we assumed was seasoning of some sort? It wasn’t, it would appear to have been bits of black from dirty cooking oil! The burgers were overdone to the point where one side of them was carbonised. We should have brought this to the attention of the staff but to be honest we were tired and hungry so we ate our food and left. It was a very busy day and most people seemed to be having the carvery, perhaps that should have been our choice! We are exploring venues locally but doubt this restaurant will get another visit.
