Another lovely Sunday lunch at The Commodore, Eric looked after us brilliantly , highly recommend the Turkey dinner .

Sunday dinner (roast trio) was lovely, especially the pork belly! The sirloin was a little small in size but the rest of the food on the plate made up for it. My wife had fish and chips and the fish was almost the same size as she is!

What a venue, great food, great prices and fantastic staff. I can't recommend the Commodore highly enough. Pleasant atmosphere and enjoyable eviroment.

A family friendly pub perfect for gatherings and get togethers - my husband and I booked a table for 5 of us (4 adults and a toddler), we were welcomed warmly upon arrival and taken to the table which already had the high chair sorted out for my nephew which was a nice touch, lovely warm features throughout the building of wooden beams, dimmed lighting, a fireplace lit - what a wonderful atmosphere. They are also dog-friendly with a ‘dog station’ near the bar with water and treats. To start my sister and brother-in-law had the Baked Camembert for 2, I had the Calamari and my husband had the Brie Bites… all tasty, the cheeses as gooey as possible and the calamari crisp. For mains my sister had Chicken Schnitzel, the meat was succulent with no dryness, I had the 10oz Ribeye - with Dripping Sauce - cooked Rare - it was cooked to perfection and the dripping sauce was silky and intense in flavour. My husband had Mac & Cheese - with Pulled Brisket which was piping hot, very cheesy and the pork was tender. My brother-in-law had the Pork Belly & Mash - probably the most tender and moist pork belly experienced and a large portion too. My little nephew had the Child’s Tomato Pasta, a really large portion for a child and had a really intense tomato taste. No complaints at all for the mains, everything cooked well, very flavourful and decent portions. For desserts we had 2 Sticky Toffee Puddings, a Blackcurrant Sorbet for my nephew, a Banoffee Pie and The Honey Pot - all very tasty, the blackcurrant sorbet was nice and tart too. The only issue was The Honey Pot being a bit heavy and dense, but tasty nonetheless. I would recommend the Rothschild 2022 red wine - VERY good! Service was also brilliant, greeted warmly and the server was attentive and accommodating for my little nephew. We would all return without doubt for further family gatherings. Unfortunately I completely forgot to take pictures!

We visited twice during our trip and were impressed with everything about The Commodore. The food was fantastic with great service from Eddy & Zac. Nothing was too much trouble. It is also very dog friendly which counts for us, there are treats and water on the bar for the dog, wonderful.

Had a lovely night with family as always. Bar snacks were fab, Eddy and Zac were great. We will be back soon.

We both ordered the Sunday roast, a symphony of flavors and textures, delighted the senses with every bite. Yet, it was Eric, our gracious waiter, who transformed the evening into an unforgettable experience. With his impeccable service and genuine hospitality, he elevated the dining affair to unparalleled heights. In summary, a blend of exquisite cuisine and exemplary service orchestrated flawlessly by Eric, makes this restaurant a must-visit for discerning diners. We will definitely be returning!

Cracking Sunday lunch. Stopped by yesterday and the location, the food and the service was nothing short of excellent. We all had roast beef and it was absolutely delicious, staff were all very friendly and our server Eric was super efficient. We will definitely be back!

Spent the weekend in Helensburgh. Went to a few place which where OK. The Commodore was one that stood out from the rest. Was ment to be a pint but food was looking good. Our server am sure was Eric. He made our day with great service, food drinks all at a great timing. We will definitely be back.

I have been staying in Helensbrough for a course and have eaten most nights at the Commodore, the food has been fantastic and the staff (mostly Garry) have been very welcoming and will always accommodate.

Always welcoming and food is very nice. Good wine selection. Service always prompt which is good if you have hungry children. Nice atmosphere. If you fancy a pud but not much room left the small puds with a coffee are terrific value.

The food has been amazing ever time I have been in and the staff (Garry) have always made me feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble for them.

Had a lovely lunch next to the fire which we had requested when booking. We had also asked to be next to a window so that we could have a view of the water which we got. Very cosy and the food was nice. Great service, Marc was really attentive!

Took my parents for lunch here. Lovely and cosy on a bitterly cold day. Restaurant pleasantly busy but we were served quickly by the lovely Eric and the food was great. Generous servings and very tasty. Couldn't have asked for better. Thanks for looking after us so well Eric 😊

My wife and I were visiting Helensburgh for a nice brisk winter walk along the seafront, after a long walk along the main road we thought 💭 a hot drink would be nice to warm us up after a long walk on such a cold day, so we went into the Travelodge Helensburgh on the seafront, as we went through the doors it wasn’t too busy and thought a couple of hot drinks would be nice! So we approached the bar to ask if we could have a table just for a couple of coffees? It was a this point I could see that the person behind the bar wasn’t quite interested in giving us a table “just” for a coffee? So reluctantly we were shown to a table and then given menus for evening meals? Even though we had told them we were only having two hot drinks! Anyway, after fifteen minutes or more some scruffy looking older waiter arrived at our table and abruptly asked, what would you like for your starter?? At this point I said, oh no we’re not looking to have dinner, we just want a couple of coffees! He then looked at us like we had broke wind in his slippers? He then rolled his eyes and said “ is that everything? We said yes!! This establishment is a Travelodge ! Not 1 Devonshire Gardens or some plush hi end London boutique hotel , it’s a cheap budget hotel chain so why give the impression that they are the Ritz ?? Enough with the pretentious attitude , it’s Helensburgh not Monaco 🇲🇨 🤷‍♂️ in reality it’s an overprice r down motel trying to be something it will never be !

We ate in the Commodore on Fri 1st March, meal and service were both excellent, spent around £65. We decided to eat there again on Saturday, arrived at 6.42pm, requested a table for 2, barman told us they were fully booked for the evening with no availability (he didn't check the system) we left, went outside and checked the table booking app and it had tables avail from 6.45pm. But we decided to take a walk along the front, though we didn't fancy any of the eateries, had another look on the vintage inns table booking app.. There were still tables available every 15 mins from 7pm until after 9pm. We booked on the App and returned to the Commodore. I'm sure it was the same barman who showed us to our table. We ended up spending around £50, not a huge amount but how many other potential customers might have been turned away & how much potential lost income. On both nights the food was delicious and the waiting staff were attentive and friendly. During our meal on Saturday there was quite a few empty tables, as there were when we arrived at 7pm and at 6.42pm.

Nice location and excellent food and service.

The commodore is very nice and friendly. They have changed the drinks seating area, not dog friendly (supposedly), and a couple of tables and chairs have been added with a few of the easy chairs taken away. Dog friendly area has the comfiest seats , but not everyone wants to sit for a quiet pint around dogs. Overall, it's our go-to as it's easiest to go with a 89yr old lady.

Homely atmosphere, roaring fires, good homely gastro pub. Love the atmosphere surrounding this homely pub.

Ate here twice as a solo traveller while on work. Both times were equally exceptional - super quick but didn’t rush me. The food was brilliant and service was great. A huge thank you to Jake who was extra friendly and sat me in a lovely table by the log fire.

Eric our server was smiley, friendly and energetic from the moment we arrived. I was unsure on what to go for but after mentioning burgers, Eric strongly recommended the signature burger which I found absolutely delicious. Eric is a true asset to your establishment.

It was my first visit to Helensburgh and I must say I am throughly impressed. My server was Kieran and he was outstanding he was funny and witty also knowledgeable and definitely made our dining experience so much more enjoyable. I had the seabass and my wife had the aubergine parmigiana ( for a vegetation option this was fantastic) overall I would throughly recommend this restaurant and if ever visiting Helensburgh again it’s a must visit in my opinion thank you to Kieran and the rest of the team cannot wait to be back

Salut! On our visit from France. We visited said establishment. We have been extremely impressed by the service by a young man named Zach he recommend a Scottish lager that I enjoyed and my wife he recommended a nice red wine. Food was good. If ever visiting Scotland again will be back
