The Cod Father in Ashford

Child’s cod and chips ordered for my young son and they sent rotten old fish, it stunk and was clearly off the smell made me gag, rung to complain so they sent another fish and it was exactly the same old rotten fish that stunk of ammonia was absolutely horrendous if my toddler had eaten it I can imagine it would have made him incredibly ill, ended up having to drive to shop to prove food was bad and just offered the £4.50 back last time we will ever be using this and I recommend others use very cautiously.

I just ordered a meal from cod father and my chicken burger turned up in a hard and stale bun, I'm unsure how it went unnoticed as the entire bun was hard. Really upset as I usually order from cod father fairly often but today has put me off.

Ordered on Just Eat. Turned up on time but chips were old and horrible, cod was barely edible. Will not be ordering from here again, that's for sure.

I have just left the shop after having abuse hurled at me just because I questioned the fact that after 15 minutes they hadn’t started cooking the fish. Place looks dirty and so many bad reviews can’t be wrong. expres

Best fish around and chips worth waiting for,tartar sauce was legendary full of flavour and fresh Latte was tall hot and smooth

Popped in as staying locally for fish and chips. Big mistake, took ages to cook and both the fish and the chips were the most revolting that I have ever tasted, batter was soggy, chips were disgusting, on the plus side we didn’t get sick.....This wins the most horrible food of my life award.

Absolutely discusting food delivered Friday evening, Scampi looked like it had been scraped from somebodys plate and put in my box, batter was soggy, chips were soggy and unappetizing, even the grandkids wouldn't eat them, kebab meat smelt when we opened the box, didn't want to risk eating it, everything went straight in the bin, definately won't be using them again, rang them to complain an hour later, they said I should've called them earlier, and did I really think they would chew the scampi

Order was made at 5:00PM for 8:00PM delivery, Food turned up 50 minutes late at after 9:00PM. Really poor service. Won't be using them ever again.

Food arrived over 30 minutes late and was cold, no updates given. The entire business seems really badly organised.

I’m sorry, but it really was awful. There is little positive to report. I ordered fish, chips and mushy peas. The cutlery was dirty, with visible, dried-in crud on the knife and fork. I had a box of wet wipes with me and cleaned them up. The food came. There were lots of fish and chips, BUT:The fish had an under-taste that I can only describe as the taste of mould. It was distasteful. The chips may have been fresh at one time, but not today. At best they were pre-cooked and heated up. They tasted awful, not like fresh chips at all. I did not enjoy the meal and left half of it untouched. Never again!

Had appalling service from both the codfather and deliveroo- both very rude on the phone when asked where a missing item was and kept trying to pass the blame to each other. So I had to make calls to each company back and fourth but when nothing got done for at least 20 mins I just gave up because I was getting no where and they were making something so simple, EXTREMELY difficult!! Luckily there was food in the fridge!! Don’t recommend at all!!

Absolutely rediculous take away - used them a lot in the past until the service nose-dived about a year ago, I decided to try them again today .............what a mistake, chips were soggy and foul and the two fishcakes were missing, i rang the restaurant to inform them that the fishcakes were missing and they virtually called me a Liar "They must be there I packed them myself"...................what a waste of £17.00, would have probably found something more appertising in a bin !!!!!

The Cod father in Ashford got very nice take away prepared by friendly staff in nice quality an excellent cleaning conditions! Thank you guys

Have used this take away before and never had a problem but tonight’s food was disgusting! Soggy batter, fish that didn’t taste right and kebabs that also tasted funny. We also had a dodgy bottle of Pepsi delivered, cola spelt with a K so looks like imported. Will not be ordering from here again

Over an hour and a half for food, 30mins late rang a couple of times check and was very rude down the phone then got blacklisted for daring to phone to ask where it was 😂😂 gone downhill fast since previous owners left

Ordered a takeaway from cod father which was late to start with. When food arrived it was stale and cold. Very bad quality! When ringing to complain their attitude stunk as well! Will never ever order from here again! If I could give zero stars I would not worthy of 1*!

This place is disgusting! There is no other word to describe it. The food is awful, the staff unfriendly. I was sick all night after eating their "chicken" wrap. I reported the place to the Food Standards Agency!

where do I start..... turned up half hour later than told ..food was cold ..chips cold really small and burned even our dogs wouldn't eat them portion was so small it was a joke not even a child's portion ....half pound burger burned round edges really dry.. as for salad 2 bits of onion and 3 bits of cabbage when called the shop they said they would give more chips next order they are rude the food is disgusting .. no way would i ever order from the cod father again service is poor.. food is disgusting ...

Lovely fish and chips and great ambience. We ate late and had the child size portions and all enjoyed the food.

My chicken wrap was disgusting it had oil dripping out of it, it fell apart and the chicken looked really dodgy. Not to mention the stomach ache I had half hour after. I phoned the cod father and told them and they started giving us abuse on the phone and even threatened to come to my house as he has my address.. All that over a wrap. The food is disgusting and so is their staffs attitude. I have reported the threats to the police

Waited an hour for food to turn up, missing a tub of ice cream. Waited a further half hour after being told they would redeliver, rang again and was told “i have 7 deleveries i will have to wait” asked for a refund and was told i couldnt have one, then was told to f**k off and had the phone put down on me, absolute disgrace of a takeaway shop

Ate here last night and food was not cooked properly all covered in mayo and smoothered in grease when I asked for a refund they told me I wasn't getting a penny so angry right now

I have stopped frequenting this fish and chip shop as I once ordered a portion of chips and to my astonishment I watched the chef transferring half cooked pork sausages from one oil fryer in to the same fryer as the chips. Apart from causing food cross contamination, pork sausages need to be cooked at a different temperature than chips otherwise this can cause food poisoning. Being a strict vegetarian I immediately cancelled my order and left. Not only is this not good for vegetarians but this could have been a health issue for someone who has a pork allergy or a religious issue for people who do not eat pork. I have since read that they have the lowest hygiene rating possible which I am not surprised about. Shame as it used to be one of the best chippies in the area!!

A request was made that the delivery driver call when outside so the people in the flat at the back of our house meet them and don’t knock at our house. At 10.30 tonight our doorbell was rung 4 times followed with persistent banging.

Up until a couple months back this was the best takeaway in Ashford ,lately the food is disgusting,greasy.Firstly my delivery was an hour late ,which has never happened in years the shop is 10 min drive from home.My burger came with no salad and was a greasy mess,a £25 order and i chucked it all in bin....disgraceful ,they couldnt even bring the right soft drinks......i believe they must of changed hands its a total turnaround from the quality it was before....0 stars

I bought a roast chicken and chips last night as well as lamb kebab. the kebab was cooked properly however the chicken was pink inside and was burnt. I will not be ordering from here again.

Food was greasy and far smaller portions that you would get if went there and ordered large. Not impressed

Fantastic value for money and delivered really quickly.

Curry spring rolls instead of vegetarian, strawberry cheesecake ice cream instead of vanilla. Hard chips. Will not be ordering from you again. Extremely disappointed.

Ordered battered Mars bar and was delivered a battered snickers. Normally wouldn't complain about a little mix up but have a nut allergy so it didn't go down to well

It was my partner and I's first time ordering from here and based on this visit we would order from here again! Our food was nice and the service was good (eg: our no vinegar request was carried out) :) For me the only thing that could have been improved was 1 out of the 9 nuggets: it wasn't cooked as much as the other 8. The other 8 were cooked better basically.

portion sizes were tiny. regular chips were more like a small. even the gherkin looked like a small pickle jar one. paid for food for 2 and ended up receiving just enough for 1 dissapointed

I bit into this pie had a mouthful and thought this is cold and tastes disgusting.. .I wasn't wrong i lifted the pie top to see fur growing on the meat inside the pie and some sort of slime..discusting phoned them to say and all they said was they would send another one out...i don't think so i won't be eating here again and we used to order from them all the time..makes me feel sick at what we have eaten in the past

Early delivery for a change. Food was hot as well. Refused to pay delivery charges as two previous orders were late and cold. Store not happy about this.

I placed my order and the delivery time was one hour, it is now an hour and a half later and it has still not arrived. Food from here is usually good but now it may not be hot.

Food arrived 30 minutes before the delivery time we'd been given. Guess that might please some people but we were still putting kids to bed so wasn't helpful for us. Food disappointing, particularly fish which had soggy batter without any crispiness at all and very, very oily. Sorry to say we won't be ordering again.

Delivery was 25mins late, chips were cold, nuggets lukewarm, at least the pie and spring rolls were quite warm. Driver did apologise but I still had to pay for the late delivery. This should not have been charged.

First delivery that's arrived early and was hot. Happy to pay for the delivery charge. Still states free delivery when placing orders, needs to be rectified.

Do not normally write reviews on here, but felt I had to this time. Food arrived earlier than expected, driver was particularly polite (apologised for bringing Pepsi instead of Coke, wasn't a problem for me) Food was all spot on. One of the best takeaways I've had, thank you very much.

The chicken nuggets and onion rings were over cooked, almost burnt.

Ordered 2 haddock and chips and 2 kids cod and chips. The kids meals were fine but the haddock was very poor. Obviously some pre-formed frozen offering judging by the shape of it. The batter was soggy and by no means crispy. Only ate it because having returned from a week away we were starving. I very much doubt we'll order again.

used to be a favourite however 30mins late and when the food came the burger was cold (cheese hadn't even melted) Donna meat was like cardboard and this chips where boiling hot very good but half of them where hard and tasted like fish the other half was soggy/slimy will not be ordering again ANY time soon disgusting!

Decent food, free delivery but a little more expensive that others.

Don't buy the roster chicken and chips. 2.20 for a leg not sure how they justify that.. but it wasn't bad food although the saveloy was microwaved without water as it split dry and rubbery..

Delivery time was good, we have ordered here before and it was good, but this time, the chips was still frozen and you can tell by the look of them and when you try and bite into them you can tell that way aswell, just very poor on a place that used to be good, I hope they see this and sort this out

The food was terrible Fish and both lots chips appeared have been overcooked, the kebab was unpleasant and most got wasted. It was the worst food ever ordered from the Codfather and will never order again. They used to be the best place for Fish & Chips.

Yo les llamé, después de alguna confusión me dijeron que iban a enviar otro. Obviamente, no quería una nueva. Me insistió en que se recogió y dio dinero de vuelta. Lo que hicieron. También dijeron que iban a crédito de £10. Pero no pedir de nuevo. Los chicos estaban muy bien, pero no es el punto. Nuestro pedido fue cancelado de comer solo, así que no podíamos revisión. Ordered Chef's special kebab and am extremely disappointed as they left off the lamb chop., Am very unhappy that I've paid for something I didn't receive.

Nice food but with are meat and chips they didn't put any salad on it, but it don't say on there, served with salad and sauce, delivery time was great

AVOID awful start to finish, live on outskirts of Ashford phone us to TELL us we would have a £3 charge which does not state on the order page. The food was inedible honestly disgusting tried a battered sausage a lot of bone in it, "fries" were greasy and brown (bad oil) tiny pot of beans (save your money get a snack pot) Donner tasted like rubber. Even the pitta smelt weird and gave us wrong drink! NEVER AGAIN DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food was good tho I asked for extra chilli peppers which didn't arrive with my order. My only concern was that on Just Eat app it says free delivery, but every time I order and my food turns up the driver asked for £3-£5 delivery charge? I questioned this yesterday and he said don't worried about it then took off. Just slightly concerned that the driver might be making a little "extra" on the side. Be careful.

I ordered my food at 11.30 and they told me my food would arrive at 12.45. It got til 13.00 and my order still was not here so I rung, no answer, they finally answered after ringing 12 times to tell me that it shouldn't be much longer. My food finally arrived at 13.30. So from ordering my food to recovering it was 2hours. Not happy

La venganza es un plato mejor servido frío. Para citar la película. Este restaurante se llama después (con la pequeña juego de palabras) y eso es exactamente lo que consigues aquí, la comida estaba fría y sabor muy pobre, la porción de patatas fritas fue principalmente la crujiente dura casi incomible que normalmente no tirado, muy pocos chips buena en la pequeña porción.
