Friendly staff let down by a pub clearly no longer popular. Decent food but half the menu not available.

The worst public house I have ever been in my hole life, staff are rude and a smell from the interior furniture 😑 Give this one a miss 👎

We were in the area for a couple of nights before heading back to Australia and made a booking at the Hotel. Lovely meal and great atmosphere, we had a lovely girl who served us and was very attentive to our visit. Speaking with the Landlady at the conclusion she informed us both her girls were leaving that day so will be sadly missed. A must visit for anyone looking for a traditional UK pub meal.

Great staff, good Sunday lunch, selection of draught lagers isn't too good, no premium beers Stella, Peroni, kronenbourg etc

Popped in with my mum and sister as we were visiting our mum in nearby care home and gotta say what a great place the food was fantastic the chicken wings were amazing and the curry was aswell the bar lady was so helpful and friendly couldn't do enough for us it's great to keep these classic pubs going great place 👍

Only had jacket potatoes but they were lovely & came with a side salad. Older man was very welcoming bit our server wasn't as friendly. It was quite empty so can't comment on atmosphere. Would visit again.

On the positive side the welcome and service was friendly and the food we did have was nice. We went on a steak themed night for my daughters birthday. I asked for a glass of merlot and they had none. They had run out of all burgers so my daughter couldn't have what she wanted. We assumed we would be safe with steak on a steak night but they had run out of rump steak. So had no choice but to order the more expensive cut. This was 7.30 on a steak night evening. Really disappointed

Aweful meal was cold and the Manger neil was rude we payed left and had t to explain to our kids what rude language was AVOID

Fantastic value for money and my husband said the Hunters Chicken was the best he had ever had, staff were very helpful

Great Father’s Day meal, booked at short notice for 5 people. We were asked to choose our food from the set menu which was no problem . We noticed that there was no cheese and biscuits on the desert list. We called the pub and spoke to Dan who immediately said that will be no problem. Great food and good service. Alan S

Superb Sunday roast, plentiful and cooked to perfection especially the beef which was excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this pub for Sunday lunch or, going on the quality of the food, at any time. We will certainly be back.

We had a family funeral on Jan 9th and asked of the Cock could hold the wake for us and nobody was disappointed. The buffet was arranged for 40 people and it was an amazing spread with all sorts of hot and cold food and was all wonderfully fresh. If anyone needs a venue with food and a warm atmosphere then I highly recommend. Thank you for making our day a lot easier

Under new management and what a change. 6 of us decided to return after a break of 4 years. New menus, good size portions and a fair price. Staff were very friendly. We will definitely return on a regular basis.

Great visit here. There were a few people already inside Daniel opened the garden for us so my daughter could play on the climbing frame and slide. The garden was clean and tidy and has a nice atmosphere to it. Michelle came to take our food order.the food was delivered very quickly. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were large and reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The bathroom facilities were clean and tidy. The overall service and experience here was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit here again

What a find! A REAL pub with the most amazing menu and excellent service - thank you, Vicky, for looking after us so well! The pub seems to have something for everyone - a lovely little sun deck, Senior Citizen lunches, varied children’s’ menu and outdoor play area. I’d definitely recommend the chicken curry (although my son said the pie was the best he’d ever eaten!).

My wife and | have visited before, but due to Covid, have not been back for over 3 years. Decided to pop out today for a spot of lunch, and thought we'd give it another try, as we have always been satisfied with our visit. Had to get the bus from Bishops Stortford, and nearly decided not to go as it was raining. But bus came along so off we went. When we got off we thought maybe we had made the wrong decision as it was pretty miserable. But when we entered the door, we knew we had made the right choice. Warmly greeted by Michelle and she soon found us a nice table. She gave us menus, but also recommended the Roast beef as it was on a specials. Michelle recommended the senior size meal which we both decided to have. Don't know what size meal a normal portion would be, but our meals were pretty huge. Lovely slices of Beef, served with a Yorkie and plenty of Roasties. Michelle went away and came back with a large dish of veggies and extra Gravy. We were just spooning our veggies onto our plates and she returned with a huge dish of Cauliflower Cheese. Everything was piping Hot and delicious. Could not resist the treacle sponge and hot custard for dessert. All washed down with a glass of cool wine. So sorry that Michelle said she is leaving in November, but told us that the chef is staying, and will be doing the same kind of meals. Will definitely be making return visits. Highly recommend people don't pass this place by, you will not be disappointed.

Popped in for a drink and hopefully a bit of lunch, luckily they were still serving food. So glad we did, we both had jacket potato and they were lovely propa home cooked with lots of home made chilli definitely not the bought in frozen stuff. Prices were very reasonable too. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. All in all would recommend for a decent bit of pub grub and will be visiting again 👍.

Come up here a couple of times and never had a bad experience, food is always absolutely incredible and good gluten free options aswell. All in all fantastic experience, well done the cock team!

Great Sunday lunch experience! The place was packed out with a great atmosphere glad we booked prior. Lovely food, the beef was beautifully cooked and the cauliflower cheese was to die for! Exceptionally warm hospitality from all and finally a pub that serves thick gravy to accompany a roast. Would not hesitate to go back!

Lovely pub, first time here and had a Sunday roast, we didn't book but they squeezed us in for an hour slot, lovely food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Had a really good roast today especially the potatoes. Just like home made. The young waitresses were so friendly efficient and lovely personalities, it really makes a difference and adds to the experience. Felt really at home here and will definitely return soon
