Stayed one night at The Yew tree. The rooms were sheds in the car park. Everyone could see in. The windows were old and rotten. The single bed had no headboard so the pillow fell off in the night. There was a TV on a shelf above the single bed which my daughter hit her head on. There was a constant beeping sound all night like a car reversing . The room was clean and shower fine. We had no water in our room and could not buy breakfast the next morning as the pub didn't open until 12pm. House keeping came dead on 11am for us to leave . We had to wait in the car park in the cold for our lift home.

Been using the Yew Tree Manuden for all events that require more space than we have at home since Orsi took over… Birthday Celebrations, Shoot Meals, and Company Events, always benefiting from the great value food and wonderful service for sit down meals or buffets, all have been catered for to perfection. Our most recent need was for a short notice funeral reception and it’s fair to say that they once again pulled out all of the stops to support us, even opening up and looking after us on a day they would usually be closed for some well-deserved R&R (if they ever actually get any). Many thanks to Orsi and Team Yew Tree for supporting us in giving dad a fantastic send off. Dave and Julie

I would not call this a Hotel as the rooms are on the outside around the car park, it is more like a Motel! The family room (no. 7) was in need of urgent refurbishment, broken window, damaged bed, marked walls, dodgy chest of drawers, screws hanging out of second bed, base divan had been turned over. Totally unacceptable. The room was facing directly opposite the pub garden, 15 feet away, customers were still sitting drinking/chatting at 2.30am despite the bar lady saying she was moving them on at 12pm (the bar should have closed at 11pm!) We had no sleep until it went quiet at 3pm! In the morning there was no one around to complain to, only cleaners about 9am. Couldn't get wi fi or tv either. Booking.com and the Yew Tree Hotel were not interested in our complaint. I could go on and on! G.W. from Essex.

We stayed here as it is also offers a stop over for motorhomes under the Britstop scheme and we were en route to Norfolk. It turns out very well, the people were friendly and the no nonsense pub food was of good quality at a sensible price and loads of it. There is also accommodation available, a good find, give it a try.

Having previously visited and had a lovely Sunday Roast we decided to return Atmosphere and staff gave a very positive impression but food on this occasion was sadly not so impressive. Hopefully a one off as other reviews are positive but cauliflower cheese was watery, meat (both lamb and beef which was delivered to the table with some confusion as to which was which) was very fatty amongst other issues. Yes we were asked if all was ok but with so many components not quite right it felt better to remain silent A discretionary service charge was added to the bill but was made to feel very uncomfortable when we chose not to pay it and leave a token tip as a gesture I fully appreciate the hard times within the industry but as a small business owner facing the same pressures felt money spent on a family treat could have been better spent elsewhere or better in my pocket

We have been going to The Yew Tree in Manuden since moving to the area in 2020. The food, service, atmosphere and surroundings are amazing and the best in the area in our opinion. The location is picturesque and reticent of the archetypal friendly village pub that we all seek.

We had a lovely diner last night with our 3 kids and the grandparents. The sea bass and pork specials were really well cooked and tasty. The chef came out to check on my mother in laws dietary requirements to make sure she was ok with what he would cook for her. Freshly cooked food and would recommend it. The kids had a Great time and were given activity packs to keep them quiet. We really enjoyed our evening

What a nightmare holiday stay. What can I say terrible, filthy black and totally upsetting for all my family. The rooms were dirty, no clean towels, bedding or room service at all. Breakfast was served the night before. Continental apparently UHT milk, a box of Cheerios or Nesquickor shreddies two croissants which were labelled eat on day of purchase. Two cartons of orange juice and butter and jam. You had to eat it on your bed as no table or chairs were available. We had to ask for a change of towels on day 3 as they were soaking wet. The room was filthy mouldy and dropping to bits. The beds were dirty and the room hadn’t been hoovered in god knows how long. Will never advise anyone to stay here

We visited the Yew Tree Maunden last Sunday after hearing excellent reviews but we definitely won’t be returning. I had the fish and chips, the fish was nothing but dry curled up batter and the chips were none the less black crispy bits. My friend had the roast beef which was dry and the veg was non existent apart from a few peas and burnt carrots. We got brought cauliflower cheese which looked black as anything. The staff seemed very overworked and I most certainly be embarrassed if I was delivering that food to a table.

Despite being very busy the staff were excellent, taking orders and serving the food with smiles and a chat. They didn’t mind the children getting up from the table to into a lounge area where they had childrens tv on. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of choice offered in the food and everything was well cooked. It was a very nice way to spend christmas day afternoon. Well done.

We visited on a Friday lunchtime and all had cooked meals. The food was all well cooked and served by a pleasant waitress/bartender.However the pub was extremely quiet and also it was cold. We decided not to stay for puddings as the temperature made us feel we needed to go somewhere to warm up.There was also no draught beer. The only pump with draught had recently been put on and we were told it needed time to settle, rather poor management of beer. There is obviously a reasonable chef so this pub has the potential to do well.

Called in at the weekend (first visit) without a booking.Good sized car park.Initial welcome was ok and the bar staff member took our order fairly quickly.A number of NEW customers then suddenly arrived together, just as a number of the existing diners, wanted their final bill and to leave. This appeared to cause some consternation/frustration but was eventually sorted, before we were eventually seated. At this stage, I have to say that I was not optimistic, however my fears proved to be totally unwarranted as the food, presentation, quality and taste were all EXCELLENT.

Booked at The Yew Tree for 2 nights for the recent Duxford Air Show. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Under relatively new management the pub is lovely and modern and the meals really tasty. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners or staff. We needed to be up early on Sunday to get to the Air Show and a full English breakfast was ready for us half hour earlier than they normally start. Then on return from the show, not realising they stopped serving food at 5pm (yes, we should have asked before we went out), the owner promptly offered to make us a round of sandwiches each and they came out with a large portion of chips for us all. Would have no problem recommending to friends, and would definitely stay again if back in the area.

The last time we had a booking at the Yew Tree for food, it was closed and the doors were locked, so we were hopeful when we heard that there was a new owner. Absolutely delighted with what we found there! Welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us, a very accommodating chef who was kind enough to create a meal for us even though we ordered VERY late and a really warm, and pleasantly buzzy atmosphere. I wondered whether the food might suffer on account of the late order - not a bit. (Very) Hot and tasty food, really well presented, and "plenty of it" would be an understatement. Adnams Ghost Ship on tap for my husband and Aspalls Cider for me.

Asked for orange juice which they had not got so had something else, After waiting for near on an hour for our lunch and the torture of Palomar faith belting out at full blast we asked could they please turn down the music and how much longer would our meal be with that our meals were put on the table veg of cabbage and carrots was ok but the hole packet of peas to fill the plate was just to much and not to mention the Yorkshire pudding I have never seen one so bad just a blob of dough potatoes were spiced which put me off and beef was dry and looked as if it had been reheated my friend had to ask for sauces as we were offered none when we got bill and found out how much it would cost we said it was the most expensive meal we have ever had with bad service no wonder the prices are not on the menu I would like to see how they cope if it gets busy which I doubt it ever will with present hosts

At nearly 60 years of age, I have travelled globally and have learned to respect the huge challenges and hard work faced by people in the hospitality business. However, I am passionate about protecting the hard working folk from damage to their industry caused by "Cowboys". The Yew Tree Inn is undoubtedly the worst inn I have ever stayed in. My wife and I booked for a single night to attend a birthday celebration nearby. On arrival we were shown to our Superior Double room in this 3* establishment and quite frankly, had we not been short on time to find alternative accommodation, we would have left at that point. The landing and stair carpet was absolutely filthy, it smelt appalling and the walls were grotty. The room was initially disappointing but it got much worse. The advert had stated all rooms were equipped with items such as an iron with a board and a hairdryer; something we had checked when booking as we wanted to be sure we could get ready prior to our engagement. Our room had neither of these and having asked the staff to provide them, I had to ask a further three times with the items taking over an hour to source. I can genuinely say I would not have used the ironing board cover to wipe down a car engine, it was disgusting. I could go on but to wrap up the rest of the horror story; bedside lamp (of which there was 1) with no bulb, shower with water pressure of a dripping tap and very poor drainage, electrical socket hanging off the wall, TV with no remote (so unable to be used), the dirtiest shower curtain I have ever seen, damp stains on the roof and a bathroom door made out of a 5mm chipboard! As a final insult, we had a long way to travel and therefore went down for breakfast at 8am (in line with hotel timings); not only was there no sign of any staff, curtains closed etc, there was a guy lying on a couch in the bar under a duvet fast asleep. He did raise his head, stare at us and then roll over and go back to sleep. We went back upstairs, picked up our luggage and left. Having spent so many years on the road I am a fair, balanced individual who isn't hugely demanding. I just want a clean room, equipped as advertised and some professional pride from the staff. The hotel is a complete joke and the standards of the staff could not be lower. If it was free they would be overcharging and quite honestly, I still wouldn't accept a room. Please do not stay here as that would simply encourage these people to continue disgracing this proud profession

I am compelled to praise the birthday dinner for my sister. Although not advertised, the Yew Tree provide excellent allergy advice on the meals. In our group of 4 we had 2 gluten and soya intolerances. Our meals were great value and very good, no allergy issues at all. I also pleased to note that the menu includes traditional meals like cottage pie, fish and chips, apple pie and custard, old fashioned favourites, sadly missing from many of the new gastro pubs. A calm and friendly atmosphere has returned and the service was prompt, polite and not at all invasive. So glad to be able to praise the local

I have two review the Yew Tree from two aspects. They call themselves a boutique hotel, however, the motel style rooms are more like a run down bed and breakfast. The room was way too hot and I couldn't adjust the heating. Not the cleanest - tea stains on the crockery for making tea, shower head not clean, that sort of thing. The curtain was stuck to the window with Velcro so I couldn't open it without pulling it off. The 'breakfast included ' is toast and a few yoghurts. If you want a cooked breakfast you need to pay extra. However, staff are very friendly and helpful, and there is a really nice buzz to the place and despite the grubby room the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant is great and there is live music in the bar at weekends.

We recently stayed here as a party of 5, in rooms 2 and 7. Both rooms are large and look newly decorated, although you could tell the rooms are dated and in need of a bit of a clean. We found sweet wrappers in the drawers, cobwebs in the bathroom and no double glazing in the large windows. Check in was good although somewhat bizarre given that no one was on reception to greet us and the chefs music could be heard from outside the hotel and in the reception area. The lunch staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was very nice, so no complaints there. Room 7 is opposite the entrance to the pub/restaurant and has parking bays right outside the door. The pub was very noisy when people left for the evening and we had taxis running outside our windows with no thought for the residents. There were cars coming and going past the windows until gone 11pm, and delivery vans whizzing in to the car park at 7.45am too. All very noisy and with no privacy unless you leave the blinds fully down so pub goers can't see in. We also had a major issue with turning the heating down in both rooms, as although the radiators were both on 0 they were pumping out heat and couldn't be turned off. This means the rooms were unbearably hot, stuffy and badly ventilated. We approached hotel staff three times during the day, but nothing they did solved it or turned them off. Upon returning to the room at 9.30pm, we approached staff again, but after getting nowhere and feeling like we were wasting our time, we gave up and went to bed with the windows open (not ideal given that the room is in the middle of a car park on ground level and we have a toddler). After a terrible nights sleep we wandered over to the breakfast room, at 8.05am, where we were we greeted by a very tired looking the receptionist still wearing her pyjamas and looking like she'd been up drinking all night! I've never been met by a member of staff in their nightwear before, so that's definitely a first for us... The member of staff was clearly put out at us arriving at 8am initially, and seemed to be doing a million jobs all at once so was all over the place. Breakfast was lacking and consisted of three jars of cereal, fruit juice, a plate of 6 tiny pastries, two jars of jam, some fruit and pots of yoghurt. We also asked for a plate of toast and after 30 minutes waiting for it, we asked if it had been forgotten about. The member of staff was very apologetic and brought the cold toast out to us, but overall I would say the breakfast needed improvement! There was not enough to go around and there should be more than 6 tiny pastries in a large breakfast room, surely? As we were leaving another couple entered the breakfast room and after waiting 5 minutes for someone to appear, they asked us who was serving and if there was any more food available. It seems they were still waiting for someone to appear as we left, so breakfast was very disorganised and lacking all round. We also listened to the same member of staff shouting at the chef for annoying people with the bell in the kitchen, and to quieten down as the breakfast room had guests - all very unprofessional and odd in my opinion, even if the member of staff was nice enough when she'd woken up. We were not offered a discount off the bill, and feel this would have been appropriate given that we complained about the heating situation so many times whilst there. Give all of this, we would not choose to stay here again and think the hotel need to improve upon its customer service levels greatly.

We stayed 1 night on our way back home as it seemed to offer practical accommodation near Stansted, from where we were catching our flight the next morning at 8am. When we finally got there at 4pm ( our gps took us on a farm track so it took a while) we were met by a red eyed receptionist who seemed to know absolutely nothing about the local area. We stayed in room two, which has a big, deep inviting bath tub. The room looked ok but sadly smelled as though it had been scrubbed with bleach 10 minutes before we arrived. The smell was really strong and cloying and as the window hatches were all bust, there was no way of keeping the window open to air out. ( no way to lock your window either). We headed into Bishop Stortford to do some last minute shopping ( waste of time as everything closed at 6pm) and arrived back at our room as darkness fell. We didnt fancy eating so we had a pint in the bar area. The bar, restaurant and reception was manned by one girl, who had to keep runnig from area to area. Her stand-in was an underage girl who had to call for someone to observe each time she took an order at bar. Bored of the empty bar, we decided to watch tv back at the room. As the tub looked tempting I decided to try it out, but discovered to my disappointment that there was no hot water. At all! Not in the sink OR in the bath. As the whole place seemed to be run by teenagers and we were leaving at 5:30am, we just got into bed and slept. It says breakfast is included, but as we left so early that clearly didnt apply to us. The only bonus is that the village of Manudin looks pretty and it is only a 15 min drive from the airport. However, if you're looking for service and a hot bath- dont bother.

This is a lovely country pub in a pretty location. We booked a family meal for 11 on a Saturday lunchtime, the staff were very helpful and gave us a table in a quiet position which we had asked for. Although the lunchtime menu wasn't extensive, we had a variety of meals and they were all really good. The deserts were also excellent. One of our party was a wheelchair user and both the layout and bathroom facilities were very accessible. We had a great time at the Yew tree and the friendliness of all the staff really made the occasion.

First visit for a birthday meal ( 5 persons) Very welcoming staff and clearly a friendly atmosphere. Had bread and olives for starter beautifully presented on slate boards with salad and dips. Main courses were varied and the steak pie was piping hot and clearly presented on the plate by an expert. We even got a dish prepared that had been removed from the menu a while back. Great service and all the staff came out to sing happy birthday. A very pleasant relaxed evening. I am confident this inn will become very popular under the new ownership, so give it a try. Also good selection of ales and beers.

My Husband and I stayed here for two nights and were in room 1. We were met with a warm welcome, and were impressed by the size of our room which had a super king bed, and a very large bathroom with a lovely double ended bath, complimentary soap, shampoo & shower gel/bubble bath. There was a tea tray in the room with tea/coffee/hot chocolate/milk & biscuits. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, and there was also a hairdryer. We went in for lunch on the first day, and were given menu's. On over hearing me tell my husband there was nothing vegetarian for me to eat on the menu, I was then given another menu which was vegetarian, and the chef also came out and introduced himself and told us that there would be many more things added to it in the coming weeks. The food was very good and priced very reasonably. The bar & restaurant are decorated to a lovely standard, and there is a lovely patio area outside where you can sit and look across the road at the beautiful church. The Inn has 7 guest rooms which are all located round the side of the building facing the car park, and are all ground floor. There is plenty of space in the car park which is free. Now, not negative, but I feel worth pointing out. As this is a little village with no shop, it would have been nice to have a welcome pack in the room with leaflets of what is out and about. Also there is no mobile reception there and wifi was limited to the public areas. The bath towels in the room, although lovely white and clean, were tiny. The TV in the room is also tiny, and being on the wall the other side of the room, didn't make for good watching. The remote control didn't work on the menu or guide, so you just have to go through each channel to see what's on. The shaving light over the bathroom mirror didn't work, there was a bulb out on the bathroom ceiling, and one of the lamps over the bed also didn't work. The continental breakfast was included in the room rate of £65 a night, and you were able to order a cooked breakfast at an extra cost. The continental breakfast which you helped yourself to, (apart from toast which an order was taken for) consisted of a jar of porridge oats, two jars of cereals, dishes with dried fruit, a basket of fresh fruit, fresh juice, a jug of milk and a basket of yoghurt's. There was also a plate of pastries. But other than the yoghurt's which had their own lids...everything was uncovered with not even a net over the pastries, and there was a fly in the room....I know the Inn has recently been taken over by new management, so maybe attention to detail like food nets/covers, decent size bath towels, checking lights work before guests arrive, will soon be part of the Inn's service.

We would like to express our appreciation after visiting the yew tree pub. Steph was so helpful in taking for us at such short notice. We arrived at half 6 which an hour and a half after service. However Steph politely asked if he could accommodate us with any food. She promptly returned and Offered four Sunday roast dinners of which we were delighted with the response. After we finished our meals the chef came out and introduced himself asking if everything was ok with the food, to which we replied was magnificent. May I just sat that Lewis Trickett is absolute credit and an asset to your establishment and we wish him the very best for the future. So to all the staff at the yew tree in manuden, keep up the good work and hope to see you all soon. All the best! Nathan, Beck,Lyn,Bob :)

Booked to stay here after a nearby wedding and was overall very pleased! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and allowed early to check in so that myself and others could get to the wedding on time. The rooms are all doubles with ensuite and tv facilities, with all having their own external doors onto a sort of courtyard/car park. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were very clean. Only minor issue I had was that I was woken at 3am by the people next door arriving back and were very loud but this is not the hotels fault so even with that, I would definitely stay here again!

This quant village pub appearance hides a real gastronomic gem in that new Head Chef Louis has a clear passion for his craft, his boundless euphuism for the quality of his food and the passion he puts into its’ preparation leaves you in no doubt that for him this is his vocation and way more than just a profession or job. If you have eaten here or at their other venues before I assure you they bear no comparison to the outstanding quality which has now become the standard since Louis took over at The Yew Tree. Simply put take the time to make the journey and you will be treating yourself to a real dining experience that you will treasure.

A quiet night on a hot Saturday. The restaurant was quiet, but the kitchen was hot and busy. New chef Louis came out to discuss our various arcane needs (vegetarian and gluten-free), and was masterful in helping us decide on our courses, including creations off-menu. We were delighted with the meal, and were well attended by the girls who served us. I was told the management recently took over and aremaking clear actions to improve the ambience and food standards. We were all delighted.I will return.

Driving past, this afternoon, we decided to stop here as it looked nice! Looking at the menu we were surprised at the prices and hence wasn't sure what to expect. However the food was delicious, plentiful and well presented - great value - BLT sandwich with fries and garnish £4.50! It was very quiet but then it was mid afternoon, midweek and midwinter (ok it is the 2nd of June - but no one appears to have informed the weather!) We will be back - thank you

My daughter and I had lunch here. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day and had sandwiches. We chose ham, cheese and red onion chutney with salad and fries. We really enjoyed it. The pub was just about empty at 2.40 pm midweek but the staff were cheery and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We've eaten here on a couple of Sunday's for lunch and that was really excellent too. Will definitely be back!

Recommended by friends so visited for Sunday lunch on my wife's birthday. On arrival taken to table and left for quite a while before being asked for our order - I thought the normal process was to offer drinks first ? This was clearly a sign that they were understaffed even though they were not that busy and it appeared that only one lady was very clear on her role.Starters were slow coming & average. Not sure if there was any cheese in the Goats cheese tart.We both went for Bass which was good, possible slightly over cooked but otherwise ok.After an age, we got our desserts although my wife was not impressed to have balsamic reduction on her panna cotta rather than chocolate sauce. To be fair to the overworked lady, she did compensate the service and dessert error on our bill otherwise I would have rated the experience 'poor'

This village is lovely and this is not a village pub with food, it's just a restaurant. We went here as part of a walking day post Xmas as a group from the area and the staff were not particularly interested or cheery. The food was average, although they did serve the whole group in a very timely manner. One person had forgotten to say they were gluten free and asked to change their pre ordered veg meal. The subsequent meal was fine (although the waitress was quite rude initially), but they charged for the original order as well as the new one (but only told them as they were paying). The decor is nice so this is just like a nice restaurant if you go as a one off. Given that a new restaurant in Stortford has really lovely welcoming staff, great atmosphere with generous food and a good menu, I would go there instead or one of the other pubs locally.

Well I left it late to book a room for the job at Saffron Walden, but I have dropped on a jem,, annex rooms clean warm and comfortable,, breakfast continental but can upgrade to full English which was spot on. The food in the restaurant was really good and well presented. The staff and managers are very attentive. Theonly issue I had was the lack of a phoine signal which is the area and not the management. Wifi is not plumbed into the rooms but is free and works well in the bar area. I will come back.

Been here twice now. Both to celebrate good food. Since the relaunch, the new owners have made sure that food comes first. You get a small selection of locally-sourced fare and everything is freshly prepared and served exactly as you want it. If there is a problem with an order, the chef himself will make sure a suitable alternative is provided. Generally, the food can be well matched with wine and the bar staff are happy for you to try first to guarantee this. On our most recent visit the menu catered for a budget although this is not always the case. A welcome surprise but probably because it was a Monday.

Having been recommended by several people we booked a table for last night with our friends(who had about an hours drive to get there... Ours was only 20 minutes) we arrived to find a note on the door saying it was closed due to personal reasons last night and also tonight. Whilst I understand things can arise, I find it hard to believe not one member of staff would have the courtesy of ringing and cancelling the bookings. So we was disappointed that we couldn't sample the food but found it disappointing that we hadn't been extended the courtesy of a call. Will we attempt a revisit.... I do t think so!!!!!

Living close to this pub, I have always been saddened by the continual change of owners, dining styles, menus etc. It's a real shame for a village local not to succeed. However ......I am hopeful of the most recent incarnation.Good pub menu, well executed and well priced.Veggie pasta for a slightly fussy daughter whipped up out of nothing by the chef, without a problem.Beer seems well kept too.Well done and fingers crossed that you might have cracked it this time!

I had not been in the Yew Tree for several years and know it changed hands a number of times. This time we found it to be clean and welcoming. The staff were very attentive and served us wonderful fish and chips (not on the menu). The wine was good and it was so pleasing to see the old pub where it should be. It provides better fish than at the nearby Three Horseshoes and I heartily recommend a visit.

We found the Yew Tree after walking the dogs for two hours from our campsite. It was a reasonably warm day for April and we sat outside. The bar staff were very friendly and efficient and remembered what drinks we had ordered each time. We ate from the lunch time menu which was a good price for a pub in the countryside. What made this a special visit was a casual conversation about if there was a village shop as we had forgotten the pasta. We were told that there was a one 10 minutes away by car which we did not have. However the bar staff volunteered to speak to the Chef and see if there was any pasta. There was and we were given enough for two people and they would not accept a drink. The little things matter in life and they did not have to bother but they did. If you are in the are I recommend that you visit.

Fantastic positive change in the food and atmosphere in the pub since the arrival of the new owners/staff.The chef is remarkable and is producing restaurant quality food and presentation and pub grub prices. The service is excellent and very welcoming with the chef coming around to speak to diners and asking for feedback, and the 2 people running the bar/dining area being very attentive and full of smiles even when super busy.A great local too and very family friendly.

Already given a review of my vist . No chance to say if it served good food or the rooms were comfortable because we had great trouble getting someone to open up and then found the restaurant closed and we would not be able to pay for our rooms as no competent person there to receive payment, so we left by paying for yet another taxi.

I turned up here very late due to finishing work late in Newcastle. They had just closed the kitchen but Tom and Justine were very welcoming and Tom offered to make me a small bite to eat (big sandwich and big bowl of chips) and Justine showed me into the bar area where she offered me a drink. This was a lovely hotel and it made it even more so with the warm welcoming I got even tho it was pushing midnight. They went out their way to help me and were perfect hosts. Will definitely be going back when in the area again.Well worth the visit if you are visiting the area.Perfect location for Stansted Airport also,15 mins in a taxi.

A friend and I were heading for the Cricketers Clavering and decided to stop off in Manuden for a pre lunch drink having not visited for several years. This establishment has passed through many hands in recent years with its reputation yoyoing with each change. I hope the current owners make a success of it as it is now something of a Gastro Pub with great quality food at very reasonable prices. The place was full but they managed to arrange an extra table for us and the service could not have been friendlier or slicker. Will definitely call again.

We found the Yew Tree on the internet - we were visiting the area and wanted to book a family lunch. We had no idea what to expect and later learnt it had just re-opened under new owners. Well, what a surprise! Wonderful welcome, helpful staff, comfortable surroundings and the food was AMAZING!!! We thought it looked a little bit different from the menu - small but perfect - and we were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious. Stunning!! Best meal for ages. Desserts home-made. Better than most other places including those in Clavering! The prices were very reasonable, too. We went back again for lunch the next day. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Family friendly, something for everybody, plenty of car parking. We were even shown the beautiful function room upstairs - perfect for special celebrations, meetings, parties - wow. We were spoiled. Can't wait to go back.

The pub was very busy when we arrived and extremely noisy. Happily we found a small area towards the back of the restaurant where a lovely gentleman named David was working. Welcoming people and taking orders. Such a gentleman. Calm, efficient, took the time to explain ways of payment. A noisy group of youngsters were spoken to quietly, immediate reduction in volume. Our food arrived surprisingly quickly considering how busy it was. Everything was hot, cooked well, and nicely presented, 2 drinks, fish and chips, ham, mushroom pizza plus side salad, £42, happy with that. And excellent service, thank you David x

Lovely Pub. Outdoors has been recently upgraded and it shows. Food is currently Smash Burgers, which are great. Onion fries served alongside are a bit lacklustre. Good beers and pretty efficient staff. Will certainly go back. Only criticism is the number of young children who seem to have been left to entertain themselves. Not the pubs fault.
