I am so loathed to publish this, as I hater giving away a great secret. However, as I enjoyed it so much, I feel I must! The view is. as one might expect, superb. Ate there three times during my stay, the food was so good. Plentiful, home-made, of excellent quality and sensibly priced. In addition, a pleasant welcome from Phil, the relatively new steward. Will certainly return on our next trip

My husband and I visited this restaurant in The Clubhouse on the last evening of our holiday. We wished we had visited earlier to have been able to enjoy repeat visits. The clubhouse is light and airy with fabulous views of Hugh Town and Samson and the manager and the waitress serving that evening were welcoming and friendly. We ate out every night during our holiday and enjoyed many delicious meals and those we enjoyed at The Clubhouse that evening ranked joint first place with one other restaurant. Highly recommended and looking forward to more delicious food when we return to the islands next year.

Had the most amazing dinner here last night. My husband had haddock fish pie and I had Turkish chicken, both followed by cappuccino and walnut cake sundaes. Big shout out to Kelly who looked after us so well. Oh and on top of all that there is the most spectacular views over the Islands

Lovely food, friendly welcome, chatty staff. Only downside was we booked and preordered our food, but still waited over 40 mins for it after our table time … really gorgeous setting and views

We visited the golf club for the first time last night and we had a fantastic meal and evening! Thank you Phil and Julie for being such fabulous hosts, you were both so welcoming and friendly and really looked after us! Julie's cooking is absolutely delicious and we would highly recommend to anyone. Such a lovely experience, amazing views (despite the weather!) we will definitely return when we are back on the islands, thank you both so much!

An excellent clubhouse serving good value and great quality meals. The steward, Phil, was very attentive and friendly. Service was quick and the food was hot and plentiful. The views are incredible too! As the title says, it was so good we went back three times. On each occasion the service and food were equally as good. Thank you all for our great visits! We will be back next year.

Arrived on a balmy sunlit evening on our return to Scilly for a first time visit to the golf course clubhouse for dinner. Greeted warmly by the barman and the super friendly waitress / front of house Kelly. Together with the lovely well-presented food (one of the best korma curries my wife has had), and the most incredible views and sunset, it all made for a wonderful and memorable evening welcome back to the islands. We believe this restaurant is wrongly overlooked as being too far out of town and yet it is only a short stroll further than the more oft-visited Juliets. Taxis are easily available anyhow ! Highly recommended.

The Isles of Scilly Clubhouse and Bistro is our favourite eatery on the islands and Phil and Julie are doing a great job in their first season at the helm. They made us feel very welcome during our two visits for a Sunday roast lunch and an evening meal and the food was delicious and plentiful. There is such a relaxed vibe, with great background music, and the views are stunning. We also enjoyed playing pool and flat green bowling there. We can’t wait to return next year.

Nice menu, welcoming and easy to book. Food was good and the views great, we were able to watch the gig race whilst eating which was an added bonus.

Fabulous homemade Sunday lunch. Cauliflower cheese was particularly delicious and as vegetarians they couldn’t do enough to cater for our dietary needs. Would highly recommend :)

I had hear a lot about the Golf Club Bistro and it didn’t disappoint. The food was tasty and the portions generous. The staff were friendly and attentive. The view from the decking was fab. Will definitely return

Another great evening at the golf club Great location, friendly relaxed atmosphere, great menu very reasonably priced and very friendly hosts. Last year it was our best meal out and same for this year We Will be back Thankyou

Thank you so much to John and Sarah and team for helping us celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday in style. With the golf club being our favourite eatery on the islands, we arranged a surprise meal there for my Dad, complete with 80th birthday banners provided by the club and a fantastic cake from Becky’s Scilly Cakes. My Dad is still talking about what a wonderful evening it was and one he’ll always remember. During our fortnight’s holiday we also visited the clubhouse for two other meals, including the delicious Sunday Roast, and tried the bowling green for the first time which was a lot of fun. You really can’t beat the clubhouse for friendly service, scrumptious food and stunning views and we can’t wait to return next year.

Friendly surface, generous portions of delicious fresh crab & a lovely view across the harbour. We really enjoyed our lunch on the deck.

The course is brilliant with great improvements being added to already Brilliant greens. A great test for any golfer. I would say up there in the top ten 9 hole courses in England

the IOS Club Bistro on the edge of their nine hole golf course on St Mary's combines great views while dining with an informal atmosphere of a golf club bar with restaurant facility. They have a blackboard menu to choose from, which changes regularly and you can have a table with a view over the harbour, which is magical as the sun goes down and catches the houses and boats in the harbour. It is a taxi ride from town and Toots looked after us in both directions. We had a generous crab starter, lasagne and in my case a most acceptable jalfrezzi with rice. A fine bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc helped us along our way.

Head a lovely last evening at the isles of silly bistro golf club on the 17th of September, really good food and fantastic service, and a really great bar steward, we will definitely see you again next year thank you!!

No frills, quite a basic menu but the egg, ham and chips were excellent as was the welcome and the service. If you’re looking for a simple meal in a lovely setting this will suit!

Had an evening meal here with my family. Very good service, really attentive and nice to eat somewhere with local people. The menu has enough choice and the portions are very generous. Would recommend it for the view also - a lovely place to visit.

Thanks for your friendly welcome during our recent visit to the Scillies. Visited twice whilst we were there and enjoyed a super lunch on both occasions, with a fabulous view.

By far the best meal we had in our week on the Isles of Scilly. Excellent service from the very friendly and efficient members of staff, and all in a wonderful setting with perhaps the best view on St Mary's overlooking Samson.

A warm welcome after a long walk around this amazing island and even though we had not pre-booked they managed to find us a table for the evening. A very good home cooked meal

We had lunch at the Clubhouse during our stay on St.Mary's. It is a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the views! A great location for a break on a walk round the island. Food and drink was lovely with lots of choice. A friendly and warm welcome awaits you from the staff who provided a great service. Thank you! We will be sure to return.

'A place not many think of visiting, but I think its the best place to eat on St. Marys. The service is excellent, and the view is breathtaking, either eating inside or outside on their terrace overlooking the bay.I had the crab salad and it was amazing, and my husband had the Sea Bass, all caught from around the islands and the rhubarb and apple crumble was to die for.Its well worth the walk up the hill, or if you're feeling lazy, take a taxi. Amazing place.

The best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time, great service & fantastic views. It was so good we’ve booked again for next week!

We called in to try the crab salad, WOW best crab we had eaten. Staff were very friendly, and that view just amazing. We returned later in the week for an evening meal and that was also superb. Cant wait until next year to return.

We used to eat at The Clubhouse many years ago when the meals were excellent but for the last decade or so let's say they have not been quite so good. Until this year! We had heard that there were new stewards and that the new food was good and John & Sarah did not disappoint. During our holiday we visited 4 times - twice for Sunday Roast, once for lunch and once for morning coffee. The food is cooked to perfection by Sarah and John is the perfect host. I sincerely hope their efforts deliver the success they deserve - The Clubhouse will be one of our first ports of call when we return next year. Oh, and the views are to die for - similar to those from Juliet's Garden but of course much higher and therefore better.

My travelling party of 40 recently enjoyed four days of golf. Whilst the wet weather tried to spoil things, the warm welcome and excellent food prepared by Sarah and Jon was spot-on. Why leave the clubhouse when the lunches there are so good? We look forward to returning next year.

Having read everyone’s reviews I feel guilty to write a downer! I agree fantastic views, lovely hosts but we felt we were ripped off over the food. We hadn’t decided on the main menu when we were informed there was a specials board but couldn’t be found! One item not to be missed being a fresh crab salad. We couldn’t resist so we ordered + drinks. Why would we ask the price of the crab salad, when Star Castle hotel serves the same at £13.50? We should have. Our bill with drinks for two came to £51.50! Ignoring the cost of drinks, our salads came to £20 each! We have never, ever had a crab salad that cost that much, even at the high end hotels on the islands. The moral, ask the price first before ordering or get ripped off! Never again!

On the spur of the moment we decided to visit the golf club for lunch as we had previously received good reports on the lunch menu. We were looking at the choices available when the manager mentioned that he couldn’t locate the specials board but that he personally recommend the crab salad. It was quite good but the amount of crab was nothing to write home about. The shock came when we came to pay the bill. After deducting the cost of the drinks the 2 crab salads worked out at £20 each, an extortionate amount considering the amount of crab provided and that the same thing could be bought at the best hotel on the island considerably cheaper. Suffice to say we won’t be going back.

We were delighted to discover The Clubhouse has reopened in time for our holiday on St Mary’s this year. The new owners were very welcoming and the food was delicious. Despite being crazily busy when Juliet’s was closed for a wedding, they were still able to accommodate our party of six and the breaded garlic mushrooms and ham, egg and chips were delicious. We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned the following week for another lovely lunch.

We had originally booked for Juliets Garden. Then they posted on their Facebook page they were closed all day that Saturday, due to a wedding just 2 days before our booked lunch - I'm actually glad we had to change our plans as the views from the outside terrace at the Clubhouse were outstanding. It was already pretty full by the time we got up there - quite a few folk had the same idea as us (we had booked!!). We chose the mushroom starter, followed by scampi, salad & chips. The food was extremely good. They were running out of everything due to the extra rush, but still had time to chat & take it all in their stride.We have 2 Dalmatians, so managed to get under an umbrella (it was sunny) to keep them cool & water was offered by one of the staff for them - one has severe arthritis, so they very kindly let us walk her through the clubhouse rather than risk the stairs on the outside veranda - which probably broke clubhouse rules, but we so appreciated it. We usually visit the islands for 2 weeks every year, but last year was heartbreaking as we knew one of our dogs had cancer, and little time left. I didn't rebook for this year, but instead had my island "fix" on a local day return coming over on the early boat, going back on the late one, so had planned our long day down to the last minute. We also had our newly adopted 5 year old girl with us, on her first Scillonion trip!Thank you all at the Clubhouse, that leisurely lunch made our day special.

We have just returned from our annual two weeks on these lovely islands, and one of the highlights this year has been finding that the Golf Club now run by John and Sarah is absolutely superb, the fresh fish dishes, the local vegetables and lovely puddings all served by friendly staff were a real joy. A top place to eat on the Island.

Being regular visitors to Scilly, we are always on the look out for a reliable restaurant. Local knowledge assured us that the Golf Club Bistro and Bar had once again proved dependable under its current management. We were impressed with the level of service, choice of wines and spirits and the straightforward menu, plus a couple of specials. We both had locally caught fish in tempura batter with chips and peas. The fish couldn’t have been fresher and it was well filleted and skinned. We happily booked to return in the following week. I hope that folk from town will realise how good this restaurant is these days, plus it has some of the best views on the island. Let’s face it - nowhere’s very far on St Mary’s!

Arrived at the clubhouse at 11:00 for morning coffee. The balcony area serves as a spectacular view point over The Sound and St. Mary's harbour. It was for this reason we were there. We watched the full day of Ladies and Men's gig racing including the finals. During the course of the day we had coffee, drinks, lunch and afternoon tea. All were served with smiles and courtesy, the empties were cleared away without fuss, and at no point were we encouraged / forced to spend more. The day was spent with a number of others enjoying conversations and each others company.

Excellent food freshly prepared, very friendly service from the staff, good selection of local beers, wonderful panoramic views right across the islands. Definitely recommended!

Very friendly welcome when we initially went in for a drink, however, the view was so lovely that we decided to eat there too, the food was simple but excellent and well presented. Definitely worth another visit.

Came here with the family on a very wet August evening. Very friendly, very relaxed, food was unpretentious but great. Would happily come here again.

A pesar de disfrutar de muchas vacaciones en Scilly, este año fue el primero para que visitamos el Clubhouse para comer, una noche. Nos sirve filetes de costilla de perlas muy bien sentado en las ventanas del patio para disfrutar de las preciosas vistas de la ciudad. Hugh Tuvimos una noche tan precioso que decidimos volver para nuestra última noche, durante la cual nos trataron con una iluminación fantástica y espectáculo thunder a través de las ventanas del patio al otro lado de la mar hacia Obispos Rock Lighthouse. Después, cuando estábamos a punto de irnos, que nos quedamos fuera por 20 minutos disfrutando de la paz y la tranquilidad y un increíble atardecer entre Sansón y Bryher (también era visible desde el interior). Sin duda merece la pena el paseo de veinte minutos a la ciudad de Hugh o un corto viaje en taxi por una comida deliciosa en un muy buen precio, con fabulosas vistas y una anfitriona muy amable! Sin duda volveremos!

Tuvimos una noche super aquí, 11 de nosotros comer 8 comidas diferentes. Todo llegó rápidamente y caliente - no para que muchas personas. La bienvenida fue cálida y amable y los propietarios eran muy complaciente y vinieron a charlar con los niños también les gustaba su comida. Te sentías como si nada era demasiado problema. El chef incluso fui a recogerlo el perejil fresco del jardín para la mantequilla de ajo en la carne. La vista es fabulosa y la bebida era razonable. Sin duda volveremos pronto.

Jugado 9 hoyos en el campo de peculiar y disfrutamos de las vistas más que el golf. Pero Pete (que dio significado al término factotum) gentilmente mantuvo el bar y cocina abierta para nosotros y nos dieron el mejor sandwiches de cangrejo de estar admirando las espléndidas vistas. Bien vale la pena una visita, incluso si no jugar al golf.

Tuvimos la suerte de almorzar en el Club en un hermoso día azul, así que pudimos disfrutar plenamente de la maravillosa vista de la ciudad y el puerto de Hugh y ver los muchos barcos el día en que entran y salen. Nos unimos a mis padres, que habían jugado nueve hoyos, pero está abierto a los golfistas y no golfistas por igual. Comimos el plato principal en el restaurante de decoración marinera decorado y luego me fuera para el postre en el balcón para disfrutar del sol y de las vistas. La comida y el servicio eran geniales y el ambiente relajante.

Just had our 2nd meal here really lovely. We had steak first time ( lovely) now just had tagliatelle ( just as nice ). Good value. Really friendly helpful staff.Fantastic views and good value for money. Would definitely come again

Estuvimos aquí dos veces en mi reciente visita. La primera vez fue para bebidas y la segunda vez fue para el almuerzo. Este lugar tiene unas vistas increíbles y probablemente la mejor vista de una mesa de billar.

Este es un lugar encantador, mejores vistas de la isla, y hemos tenido dos visitas agradables en años anteriores. Así, ganas de volver, y como anuncia las cenas solo disponibles en viernes y sábado llamé para reservar para el viernes. No es posible como acto privado reservado - bien, supongo, pero parece resumir la actitud de los visitantes de la isla que tome el segundo lugar. Por lo tanto pidió el sábado a la noche, sólo me dijeron que no abren los sábados, sólo entre semana! Lugar necesita actuar.

Si el clima es lo suficientemente bueno para sentarse afuera hay un balcón que tiene una vista maravillosa del puerto de St Marys. Si te sientas por dentro, tienes que escuchar la música más espantoso que se pueda imaginar. Es un tipo de jazz que te enloquecen.

Entendemos que el bistro ha cambiado de manos y, en nuestra opinión, ha sido un cambio muy positivo. Comimos en el restaurante Clubhouse dos veces en los últimos 15 días y cada vez que cada uno de nosotros comer estaba muy contento con el recibimiento que nos dieron y con la comida que tomamos. Nos encantaría volver cuando volvamos la próxima vez y están encantados de recomendar a otros.

Best meal during our two week stay by a mile. Decent price, friendly young man who appeared to be running the bar and kitchen on his own. Adaptable to kids requests. Lots could learn from this place. The views are stupendous as well

If you are lucky enough to be on the Isles of Scilly then do try this golf club, either for lunch or an evening dinner . Good old fashioned English food plus the privilege of the finest view you could wish for......

reluctant to leave this review, as we dont really want anyone to know.....but couldnt keep to ourselves what a truly pleasant experience visiting the golf club is, the warm welcome, the stepping back in time feeling as you walk in, the quality of food provided, not to mention (The View)! we ate here over the august bank holiday a few times and made it our last meal before hopping on the ferry, absorbing the view for the last time....a must visit.

Had lunch here a few times, crab sandwiches were as good as you can get, in addition the soups are really good. The view is fantastic aswell.

We so enjoyed our dinner at the Golf Club, as recommended by our B&B host. This evening, together with our dinner at The Galley, were our best meals on Scilly. The food was very good (John Dory fillets and steak for me), the service personal, and the view excellent. We went on a Friday evening and were able to watch the gig racing from our table. A great evening. Thank you to Faye and her staff. Bookings essential.

Some restaurants come with advanced high praise which often leads to disappointment and others you just find and strike lucky. It was the latter that the four of us found at the unimaginatively tilted The Clubhouse. But don't be fooled into thinking that this is a just a bite to eat at the golf club. The all important welcome was genuine, the menu, drew its strength from using local ingredients, is short and unambitious and this is praise as far too many restaurants think that by trying to emulate the best, fall well short of the mark. Rarely does a restaurant get the balance between what is good and what it can achieve, this one certainly does. I am not known give full marks to any restaurant, even my own, but this one deserves it. Do not think this is a Michelin star restaurant, it's not and it's not trying to be, so thank goodness that this chef has empathy for his food and his skills, what a joy.Oh and the view is probably the best in the Scillies.

Foggy damp day on St Mary's - cycled round the Island and desperate for some lunch dropped into the Golf Club which was a great decision. Lovely views until the fog rolled in, great terrace above the harbour in the distance. Nice friendly bar and eating area. Burger awesome and Butternut Squash Soup very nice. Great value with drinks just £18 for 2 of us! Super service too!

The Clubhouse has a great location for taking in the scenery and enjoying a snack or a meal. On a good day the balcony has a panoramic view of the islands. Highly recommend the fresh crab sandwich!

Great welcome from Faye. Had terrific crab baguette in between two nine hole rounds of golf. Spectacular views and fish and chips looked awesome.

Only popped in to the golf course club house for a cuppa at the end of St Marys round island walk.We have eaten here in the past and the food was fine.This time would like to say, the service was friendly, the place very clean, the views? well go and have a look.They don't do food every night so best check before heading up there.We think people need to use this place more, it's only a minutes walk on from Juliette's.

I have never ever tasted such wonderful crab. Had been recommended by Scilly Carts when we picked up golf buggies. Easily and cheerfully accommodated our party of 10. Wine was excellent, views fabulous, service with a smile and a joke. Can play bowls here too. Fab!

On our latest visit to the Isles of Scilly another trip to the golf club house proved to be an overwhelming success, amazing views over St Marys and the Islands with the best food... burger and chips like never before - it must be tried- a selection of fish served with chips and peas - cooked to perfection plus a scilloian crab sandwich, absolutley amazing. Would recommend 100%. Not a place to be missed on your Scilly trip!

Friendly service well cooked and nicely presented food. There is a magnificent view so quite a steep but short climb to get there it is a bit out of town and away from the main attractions but ideally situated for those who like walking. Probably as well to book a taxi home in the evening

Beautiful views from the deck and really delicious food beautifully presented well worth a visit. I ate with a friend at lunchtime and had the steak sandwich which was cooked to perfection and came with a really delicious bowl of salad.

Sitting in the dining room watching the sun slowly sink into the panoramic vista of the islands is a great way to spend an evening. When you also have fantastic food and service it is an epic evening of awesomeness

The Island View Restaurant at the Golf Club has to be one of the BEST eating establishments on Scilly. Food is imaginative and beautifully cooked and the staff are excellent. I would highly recommend for both lunches and evening meals!

The Golf Club is gem on Scilly which is probably not thought of as a holiday makers restaurant. The staff are always friendly and the cooking is always different to the standard fare. Pigeon breasts with a salad that works wonderfully for example. Go there and see for yourself, and you can have a round of golf or a fews ends of lawn bowls if you really must :-)

Excellent food, service and value but not enough people! I think people probably don't knOw they're open tO non members. Totally recommend the bacon, Brie and cranberry sandwiches!

I celebrated my birthday at the Island View Restaurant in the Isles of Scilly golf club.It was with a large group of friends and family. The food as always was amazing,The staff were brilliant and helped make the evening a night to remember.The restaurant serve lunches and evening meals of a high standard throughout the year and lunch on the patio with veiws to die for is not to be missed.
