Pretty down to earth golfers bar with bar staples such as fish and chips, etc. Lots of people drinking lager in shorts

I have meant to visit the Mere for a long time, after meeting one of their sales managers at a networking event. So I decide to go for lunch a Saturday afternoon to the Club Lounge. I honestly have never experienced anything quite like it when it comes to service. Firstly despite having three staff on the floor and two standing with their backs to the door we were not greeted. When we eventually grabbed a table, my debit card was very quickly taken to start a tab (this was the only efficient part of the experience) They have a silly amount of tech gadgets that frankly do not enhance the customer experience. Computer tablets for the menus and call buttons for service (which did not work). We ordered a green tea and soda water with lime. It took 20 minutes for the drinks to be delivered. The wait was so bad that I did nearly walk out at this point especially while the countless staff and “suits” were just standing around and literally doing nothing. I did get the attention of a supervisor/manger to see if he would check for our drinks he then walked right out of the room and did not even go to the bar to check on them. The food arrived which were non-descript burgers served with the cheapest bread buns. To be fair to the chefs I don’t think they could have pleased me as I just wanted to eat and get out of there. When we finished the food we requested the bill. After another wait a bill arrived for over £100! I had to wait to get attention of the non moving staff to get correct bill. The waiter then took my debit card on a trip around the bar and back rooms to eventually to appear again with yet another bill for £70 which clearly stated 4 covers and not two. I then had to tell the waiter what we had to eat and I finally got to pay! Once I paid I asked to speak to a manager and the waiter instantly replied “is it due to the bad service?” I spoke to a manager and explained our experience and they were very good a listening and even went as far as taking my card and contact details and said that someone would contact me in the next few days to advise how they were going to improve the service. This is impress me and I felt that I had genuinely been listened to. Guess what? A month has passed and NO CONTACT from the Mere which is just DISGRACEFUL in my book. I would be so angry if I was a member of the club there and honestly believe they need to invest in some management and staff training instead of silly technology. Bottom line AVOID AVOID AVOID

There were about 7 starters and 7 mains to choose from in the evening, so a bit limited, but the food itself was delicious and I couldn't fault it at all. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were very courteous and helpful.

We came for the first time last week as part of Mild Magic. Accessibility: to be fair, I didn't even try to get in the pub as my husband didn't think it would be easy in my wheelchair. Plus, it was a lovely day for drinking outside. There is a carpark, which is quite a steep slope with gravel and it's quite uneven. I did roll down, to the consternation of onlookers, but my husband complained about pushing me back up. However, once you've battled the car park, there was a ramp up to the outside eating area, so someone's had disability thoughts at some point. I have no idea if there is a disabled toilet inside and the website doesn't say. There are lovely views over Bollington recreation ground, where we could watch a game of cricket. In the distance, you can just about see White Nancy through the trees. It was altogether very civilised. We enjoyed our Bollington brewery mild so much that we decided to get food as they had vegan options. I had a vegan hot dog, which was nothing fancy, but very nice. The staff were lovely, but the policy of taking a name rather than table numbers meant they were wandering around with our food for a while before they found us. It's not the waiting staff's fault, we just didn't hear them. The pub is dog friendly, with water bowls provided. There were a lot of cyclists and walkers, presumably because it's so close to the Middlewood Way. We'll definitely come back, but I might attempt to get inside next time.

We just dropped in for a drink on a busy bank holiday and without realising sat at an empty table that was in the area for food service, but where other pubs may have just asked you to move with no consideration - the waiter came over and kindly told us he had reserved us a table in the bar area to move to and made sure to check on us while we were there - it's the small things that make a big difference and we will definitely be back!

Lovely place. But a bit too expensive. Not much more to say other than that. Got to leave 100 charachter to basically say it’s too pricey

We recently celebrated my friends’ civil partnership in the private dining room at The Church Inn, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. I provided flowers for the event and was a little nervous about getting everything set up in time, but the staff were fantastic - especially Lucy, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and went out of her way to support us during setup. The building itself is beautiful, full of character, with a warm and intimate atmosphere that was perfect for a celebration. The private dining space felt both elegant and cosy, creating a really special setting for the occasion. I can’t recommend The Church Inn highly enough for private events like weddings, birthdays, or any special gathering. The venue, staff, and overall experience were outstanding. Thank you so much to the team for making the day so memorable!

Lovely old pub in Mobberley. Very picturesque good selection of beers and spirits friendly staff. Didn't eat here but the dining area was full.
