Stumbled upon this place on a random night out and wasn't disappointed. Fantastic atmosphere combined with amazing cocktails. Some of the best cocktails we have had in while. Simple, but incredibly well executed. Great staff as well, will definitely be back.

Love this place. Kind of secretly hope it doesn't become too popular 😂 Very interesting cocktails, the interior design is great - not overdone, but still very cool and steampunkey! The staff is brilliant, very welcoming and open to good banter. On a pricy side and I wish there were more cider/beer options in stock, but surely surely will be back again.

One of the better Cocktail bars in the Bristol centre area. They really care about the customers tastes and love to suggest or even recommend different flavours and combinations. We met some friends there and had some really delightful original drinks. Nice location and steampunk style interior. It feels kind of special entering the establishment and we will be back.

I really, really wanted to give this place five stars, but I just can't. We got a really friendly and welcoming greeting, the decor is just amazing, and combined with the music and drinks selection, it has a great speakeasy vibe that's like stepping back in time. When we visited during a quiet afternoon we thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails and chatting to the bartender. However, when we returned on a busy Friday night, it was a bit of a different experience. The two guys working werr clearly doing their best but really need another member of staff to serve customers. After finishing our drinks we were left waiting 45 minutes before we could order another one - and customers who had arrived looked to be waiting a similar amount of time to receive their drinks. This is just far too long and led to understandable frustration. It's a shame, as the staff are lovely and the cocktails are sublime - some really imaginative and special combinations that we thoroughly enjoyed! It's just let down a bit by the exceedingly slow service when busy. I think we'd go back, but perhaps not on a weekend night.

Omg! This place is so authentic to its self in every way. ( Victorian)From the decor to the drinks to what the staff were wearing it’s brilliant. Top it off with excellent service and it’s deffo a new favourite because the whole experience hangs together really, really well! Thank you!!

The quality of service here is absolutely impeccable. Kway, Ally and the boss Kit were the friendliest, most wonderful people to have around. I've asked for a sweet, strong drink and the Domino Effect recommended by the staff hit every single note. I've asked for a custom drink and the bartenders twisted it a little bit to really elevate it, but did so with skill and consideration. The whole venue feels luxurious and comfy; and anyone entering will feel personally catered to. I can't recommend this place enough.

Have been coming for a few years now,and have always had a great experience. The drinks are of high standard and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. One of the best, if not the best cocktail bars in Bristol.

We had a fabulous time here, a hidden gem. Such a lovely waitress called T, couldn’t recommend more! Really recommend!!

Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had! Took a friend here who was visiting and I wanted to take her somewhere nice. We went in here and there was no music playing so wasn’t much of an atmosphere. The cocktails were minuscule and overpriced. We ordered some snacks but they had ran at of humous it was only 7.20pm, so we ordered some olives and salami. We tried a piece of the salami it was stale and tasted awful so we asked to send it back as we no longer wanted it. We then decided to get the bill and saw we were charged for the salami, the lady said we had to pay for it so we spoke to the manager. We explained we had only had one bit and we sent it back so wouldn’t expect to be charged for this. The manager said it was our fault for ordering it and as he can’t re-serve it we have to pay for it. We refused to pay and he said to my friend don’t smile at me like that you have to pay which was very intimidating. We stood our ground and said we were not going to pay for something we didn’t have and he stormed off with a new bill. The managers parting comment to us was next time if you want money off the bill then I suggest you don’t go to an independent and go to a chain. This person completely missed the point that customers should not be charged for something they haven’t had and should not put the blame on them when they have served food that is inedible. Such rude and unprofessional behaviour from the manager.

I would like to start by saying that since we discovered the clockwork rose a few years back it has always been on our go to list when we visit Bristol. We have been there about 7 times between us and have always had a good time. The drinks were always great and the atmosphere was amazing. Unfortunately this time it seemed lack luster, drinks were ok but not special. Also there were a few drinks not available, which on a small menu is a bit poor! The bar area was also a bit untidy, there were dirty glasses on the bar for the entire time of the visit. We did feel a bit like leppers as the owner bustled around talking to every table but ours, this was a shame as I remembered the first visit when he actually took time to make me his take on a 100 year old cigar, which was amazing! May have been an off day, but with so many great Cocktail places to try in Bristol means we will probably try somewhere else next time. Only stayed for an hour of the two hour booking!

Beautiful inside but cocktails won't nice, ordered coffee Martini just tasted like weak coffee very disappointed, with group of 8 we spend 2 hours spend about 200 and was then rush out the door.

Went out for an evening and found this lovely bar; friendly but not I trusted staff, elegant furnishings, superb cocktails ie not tons of ice with very dilluted spirits etc. Its expensive but for a luxury treat now and again a very good choice. We did not eat there so I have not rated food.

Warm and friendly atmosphere! Staff are super friendly and happy to chat and help inform about drink decisions. Easily one of the best cocktail bars in Bristol! A must go to location for all in the city!

Found this place by chance to help celebrate a friends 60th. Lovely, helpful staff and a brilliant, different atmosphere. The drinks and very good, well crafted cocktails featuring really different ingredients. Felt classy as small enough to be intimate but buzzy enough for it to be good with small group of friends

We were passing and it looked really interesting. Very cool 50-70's style lounge. Nice interesting menu of cocktails and with quite advanced mixing of cocktails. The cocktail I had was a lovely complex flavours and nice to feel some love of the drink made. It's a classy dark and relaxed style bar. (amazing pecan nuts). .

We had to wait 40 minutes to actually get a drink and then no one even apologised. Admittedly the cocktail was lovely but I left more sober than I came in due to the long wait!

Really great atmosphere created by the unique theme. Staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding you through the drinks. There is a wide selection of cocktails, definitely something for everyone. There are really unique drinks that you will not find anywhere else. Will need to go again to try more of them!

Absolutely fantastic drinks. They were so creative and delicious. The atmosphere is so fun with steam punk 1920‘s fusion. Make sure you reserve a table so you can enjoy the creative drink options.

Simply the best cocktail bar in Bristol

Always visit here when in Bristol. The cocktails are the best I have had. Staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable so if you are unsure what to pick from their menu they were happily guide you to something you will enjoy. The place as a relaxed, yet joyful ambiance making it the perfect place to kick back with friends for either an afternoon drink, or post-dinner cocktails.

A bit pricey but worth it! The cocktails are delicious and different from what you'd usually find, the bartender was very nice and helped us find something that we'd enjoy.

Classy and cool cocktail bar with amazing staff. My husband and I had two drinks each before going out for dinner and they were unusual and delicious. The steampunk theme inside is really cool and the atmosphere is sophisticated.

A beautifully intimate spot with wonderful drink offerings, lovely ambience, and in a prime location without feeling rammed or roudy. Definitely a spot for drink connoisseurs, and a prime romantic or chill location to add to your Bristol to-do list!

Was eating locally on 11th March so managed to grab a table before our dinner. What a place! The owners and staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and the cocktails! The cocktails are to die for. Beautifully prepared and with some superb ingredients. If you want silly umbrellas and daft glasses, go elsewhere. If you want to enjoy a lovingly crafted drink in a beautiful room, this is the place to seek out! So good we went back after dinner!

What a find! Having enjoyed a lovely meal nearby, we wanted to extend our evening out somewhere more grown up than the typical bars. The Clockwork Rose is that perfect place. Relaxed and friendly yet sophisticated and surprising, this “speakeasy” was a delight. The cocktail menu is extraordinary and inventive, full of curious concoctions and tantalising taste sensations. All are testament to the hosts joy in their endeavour. That passion comes through in every respect, the attention to detail, the care and craft, makes for a memorable experience. A throat emporium like no other!

Amazing interior and great decorations. We try a few cocktails and I can say that is maybe the best so far that I’ve ever had. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with the menu. The olives with sea salt 🤤 👌🏻 *if you order some special cocktail- you get a quick show with the special music. Bravo!

Staff, drinks, and cleanliness excellent

This is a great place. We managed to walk in without a reservation and the staff were really welcoming. The theming and decor is really cool. Loads of intriguing drinks on the menu, and our server was very knowledgable when we asked about the different cocktails. I went for the martini on the specials board and it was gorgeous and we felt it was very reasonably priced for a higher-end cocktail experience. We will certainly be back.

Favourite cocktail bar in Bristol. Owners and staff are amazing and you will struggle to find a better cocktail in Bristol. The cocktails on the menu are all designed in house and can take months to perfect along with their own infusions. Bristol is now becoming well known for good cocktail bars but The Cocktail Rose is at the top of this list. Nov update New menu now in and Xmas menu on the way. New cocktails as usual are amazing. Booking is advised.

Awesome rustic vibe, owners were very knowledgeable on spirits, probably the best singular drink I've ever had! (Just Peachy, Japanese gin base) Will be back again for sure!

It'll be the best classic you've ever had. The owners and Rachel and her boy Tim are so wonderful and accomodating. But enough about the service and the drinks... The decor is out of this world. I'm not into steam punk but the theme is on point from the beautiful music to the hats on the wall plus the architecture!!! This place is beautiful. I come here for special occasions and will continue to come here for as long as I can get an old fashion or a gargle blaster. 10 out of 10

We had a few people drop out due to traffic issues coming from Devon but the staff just took us as we were. The drinks were impeccable as always. Friendly, welcoming staff. Wow this place is really special. Decor is dreamy, staff are so helpful and accommodating and the cocktails are off the scale amazing. I can particularly recommend the "death in paradise" which comes with a spoonful of chocolate caviar. Visited on a trip to Bristol and had to return on my final day again because it was just so good. If you like a sophisticated cocktail then this is the place for you.

This place is fantastic, although I'd been living here 5 years before I discovered it. A fantastic range of cocktails covering new approaches to classics plus some really unusual ideas, in a nautical steampunk setting. Service was great, and we'll be back.

Friendly staff and delicious cocktails

Had been wanting to go here for a while as I'd heard good things. Went with some colleagues. The main thing that bothered me was the attitude of the host. It was like we we were inconveniencing them at every point. Wouldn't let us have extra chairs, even though the place was empty. When we got up to pay they were acting like we were in the way, when only one other customer at that point and we'd spent a lot of money. There are some nice cocktail bars in bristol but the difference is, they treat you well. Would not go back.

We found this place by chance on a first visit to Bristol, as we desperately tried to avoid a mad, student filled Saturday night. From the roadside, the building doesn't immediately advertise what is inside, which is part of its charm. Walking up the steps...

First visit this evening and we were not disappointed. Planned on popping in for one and ended up staying for 4 rounds of drinks. Great ambiance and atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff who knew exactly what we wanted. Highly recommended independent venue 👌

Everything about our evening here was perfect, from the drinks, to the service, and to the atmosphere. The staff especially were attentive and very helpful. We had a great time and would definitely come back again, and are looking forward to doing so.

If you haven’t been here yet - you are missing out BIG TIME. The owner is the loveliest person, incredibly knowledgeable on spirits. The choice is incredible, they have about 40 cocktails with festive menu getting updates quite frequently. I’m not even talking about EVENTS they hold - monthly rum tasting and yearly whiskey showcases. The atmosphere is classy and adorable, I can’t get enough of it. The price range is also amazing for Bristol city centre! I can’t recommend this place enough. Come and check it out for yourself. I would also advise booking in advance!

Incredible hidden gem in Bristol! We visited this cocktail bar for the first time a few weeks ago for my boyfriends birthday. On arrival we were greeted and our coats taken and hung up. We had a cute table in the corner, and it was full but not busy. We were served by the manager Rachel who was lovely and really knew her stuff. We didn’t know what to order at times so Rachel asked about flavours and alcohol we liked and then made suggestions, she got us the perfect drink every time. The cocktails were some of the best cocktails I have ever had (and I have had a lot)! The bar was owned by a husband and wife, who chatted with us and told us how they experiment and create the menus. There’s not one fault I can make about this place and I can’t wait to return. They even gave my boyfriend a birthday drink on the house which was a sweet touch. Price wise it is great value for money! 10/10!!!

Good selection, chilled out atmosphere, comfortable seating. Will also make anything not on the menu, or recommend something if you describe what you are after.
