Great night, great music, but a bit pricey for us

Stopped in for a solo pint while waiting to meet friends. Very friendly atmosphere, good tunes and good & lively.

Different people now Run it, Danny and Sophie Daly, still a Good Pub to go to for a Drink 🍺🍻 or two with Everyone else who is Going there as well. Would Recommend this Place to anyone else who might be interested in going there for a Drink 🍻🍻 or two. XXX.

Great pint ov red stripe. My mother is in southmead, looked for a pub on a break from bedsitting. Great atmosphere, great music , friendly people. Proper drinking house.

Leans a bit towards the "they're tracking you with your credit card, vaccines are evil" and other conspiracy stuff which is openly visible inside this pub. That said, I've no problem with freedom of speech and this isn't a cliquey place by any means - and cards are accepted. This is an old-fashioned proper drinks pub. The beer is cold, the snacks are great and the interior inside is gorgeous. A pool table is available too. Recommended if you're in the area of Southmead Bristol - it's only 5 minutes walk from Southmead hospital - and are looking for a cold one, or to visit a pub with a unique name!

They don't do food, but Danny and his bar staff are great.

I would like to thank the Landlord of this pub for being so helpful to me. After a harrowing day spent in Southmead hospital after my wife suffered a stroke I was trying to find a taxi. I went into every takeaway along Southmead Road and was met with rudeness and/or disinterest. This gentleman not only gave me a number but came out to check that I had managed to get a taxi and offered to get one for me if I hadn't. Thank you so much!

I like the Bear and Rugged. The staff are friendly and professional. I have always found it a lively pub with a great atmosphere. Music is fantastic - it's one of the best pubs in the area.

I have visited this place about 4 years ago and gave it 3 stars but I went there last night and a much better atmosphere much cleaner a very nice local pub I will go again and recommend it to all a nice change from a few years ago 5 star local pub well done
