Koocha Mezze Bar in Bristol, City of

Delicious food, very friendly staff & generous portions. Meal was vegan, I'm not, but I didn't miss my animal-product at all.

We celebrated our anniversary at Koocha Mezze and can't recommend the restaurant enough. From the moment we walked in the door Trinity was incredibly attentive, showing us to the table they had reserved for us by the window and bringing us complementary glasses of prosecco. She explained the menu to us and was able to give us recommendations when we asked for them. We ordered six different small plates and enjoyed all of them, with Trinity's recs being spot on. We finished by sharing the pistachio and marshmallow cheesecake, which was fantastic and had a really nice tang to it. It was lovely to be able to order anything from the menu and know it was vegan. We were really happy that we chose to celebrate our anniversary at Koocha Mezze. It was our first time visiting the restaurant and we'll definitely be back.

Great feast of delicious delicacies, many flavors and textures, a great range of interesting options to choose from and lovely to meet chef Freya, and nice chats and excellent service from Jaz bar tending.

Amazing roast dinner. One of the best vegan roast dinners we’ve eaten in eight years. Love the art inside and out and the service. The best part is the food. We tried both types of roast dinner with cauliflower cheese. We loved everything on the plates. Highly recommend 🙂

My partner and I wandered the eateries in the area and we're drawn to the ones that were busier..we noticed that the folks eating in koocha looked like they were really enjoying so we went in to see if they could fit us in. We were seated at the bar and got to see the magic happening in the kitchen as Freyja cheerfully created beautiful food, and Jas crafted different cocktails whilst chatting to us.. and when the food came out we were amazed.(Also ,despite being busy we were fed in a timely way )..we ordered kookoos, (my favourite - moist, spiced well and presented beautifully) marinated broccoli and the braised cauliflower with truffle fries .. incredible flavours and both of us were stuffed afterwards. We so enjoyed the combination of excellent well made food and the obvious good vibes of the staff (front of house and kitchen ) between each other and with customers.it makes such a big difference to the vibe when the staff seem genuinely to enjoy their job. On paying we were served by Katie, who was friendly , open and helpful as I struggled with the payment machine . Thanks Koocha - we can see why you were busy ! We will return.

Had dinner with 5 people here a couple nights ago and despite none of us being vegan , all had expectations exceeded with the food served - large and flavourful portions of the mezze sharing dishes - oyster mushrooms , salad olivieh , falafel , kookoo , broccoli and root veg , and 2 of us tried the new sunday roast options which were both incredible . Thanks very much Trinity for making our dining experience special - wonderfully attentive and made us all laugh . Also big thanks to Donny and Gabe in the kitchen - not a single dish we had disappointed in the slightest , all very , very tasty and we left feeling happy and full .

The best vegan restaurant in Bristol. I've had the Sunday roast previously which I thought was excellent, however this time we went for the large plates and they did not disappoint.

Wow, what can I say? Visited today to try out the new roast and it was phenomenal. Probably the best vegan roast I've had to date (including my own). All elements were delicious individually and even better when drizzled in the gorgeous gravy. I particularly enjoyed the parsnip puree which was super creamy. 10/10, would eat again. Thanks to Donnie and Gabe (the chefs) who were cooking the roasts along side the normal menu! Great job 🙂

Amazing food, and very good recommendations from our friendly server Trinity. My boyfriend who is a meat eater also thoroughly enjoyed the meal. So it is the best of both worlds for everything and means we can try and share food together! 10/10 and shout out to our lovely server!

The food was amazing and the staff were really friendly. I would highly recommend the oyster wings and shish kebabs. This was honestly some of the best vegan “meats” I’ve ever tried.

Absolutely incredible food and experience. The food is gorgeous, I can’t explain how good the flavours are. The whipped feta with cucumbers was beautiful and really had a feta taste to it which I especially loved. My favourite thing on the menu will always be the baklava, it’s actually so delicious, I don’t know how it tastes so much better than other baklava but it’s so good. This is definitely my favourite place to have a meal when I want something a bit nicer and am happy to spend a little bit more money. It was really busy tonight but we still felt well looked after, our waitress Trinity apologised there was going to be a long wait for the food but it really didn’t feel very long! And she apologised afterwards that the service hadn’t been as good due to it being busy, but we had a lovely experience, no faults at all, and Trinity was really nice. Also, I didn’t get to try the roast dinners that Koocha previously did - I really want to try one so please bring them back this winter, I promise I’ll come lots!!!

Had the most fantastic time celebrating my mums birthday evening (and mine!) Trinity was the most attentive server *ever* genuine, warm and authentic. We loved the food, decor and atmosphere, can't wait to come back to see more of Rosie, Fran & Celia!

Went for an amazing meal the other day I was really blown away by how nice the food was - very thankful for Chef Chelsea. The service and drinks were also incredible big love to Nadia who served us. Will be returning.

Koocha is my favourite ever restaurant. Every time I'm in Bristol I think I should probably try somewhere new but I just can't resist dining there again. Everything I've ever ordered is 10/10 and the drinks are also fab. Would highly recommend.

We’ve visited Koocha a few times now and the food has always been really delicious. The kebabi fries, koocha doner and doner bao buns are firm favourites. The mocktails are also very nice! I would highly recommend Koocha😊

Had to wait a while for drinks although we were promised water when we arrived. Finally arrived after 20 minutes and asked 4 times, 2 different servers. The food was excellent, and I'm a dedicated meat eater, but I promised my partner I would give it a go for our anniversary.

Lovely place, food was incredible, service was a little shakey from time to time and they mixed up one of our dishes, but it was pretty much flawless can't lie, it only meant we got a free food dish! Honestly, recommend this place to all food eaters, vegan food is for everyone!

Exceptional food! We enjoyed dinner here as a family of four, and we thoroughly would recommend the mixed grill, truffle fries, kookoo, and pistacio cheesecake!

Incredible food and great service

We came here for a family meal. We ordered 9 meze dishes, dirty fries and shish kebab! Unfortunately only have photos of a few dishes. We also enjoyed their mocktails as well. They were crazy busy in the kitchen as it was a Friday night.

The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, and the staff were polite and helpful! The Mezze portions were more generous than expected! my parter Indie thoroughly enjoyed the samosa option (which they would typically not pick) describing it as 'the best samosas they'd ever tasted'. We agreed that the bao buns put wagamamas portion sizes and flavour to shame! Special shout out to Ewan the chef for all our delicious food, thank you.

Cool building, nice vibe inside and out. Service was lovely but a little slow. Food was great. The small plates aren’t overly small. They recommend 3 per person, but we had 3 plus 1 side between 2 people and were stuffed. Good options for kids too!

Me and my partner had a lovely date here. The food is top notch! I've recommended to friends and family. Our favourite Mezze was the Koo-Koo. We had a tahini brownie for dessert (which was a first), it's a sesame seed paste. Oh, the mocktails were AMAZING too, we had the eastern breeze and a watermelon mojito. 2 large dishes and 2 mezze was plenty for 2 people. We had a table for 8 for a friend's birthday and were seated on the terrace. It is so pretty! Service was great exceptionally charming and friendly and the food was fantastic. Great not just for vegans - all the meat eaters were happy too. Highly recommended

We came in quite late, when the kitchen literally just shut, but a waiter called Otto asked the kitchen if it’s possible for us to order real quick. They were so kind to let us order and chef Chelsea whipped up an incredible dinner for us. The mezze was divine and the kebabs so realistically meaty it was unbelievable. We also had mocktails made by bartender Chelsea and they were amazing. The entire atmosphere was very nice and cozy and all the staff incredibly friendly. 100/10 will be returning

Dishes are varied, flavoursome and filling. Salad Olivia and the dirty fries were our favs. Thanks to Rosie for the lovely hosting and pistachio + marshmallow cheesecake recommendation - the perfect end to the meal. We’ll defo be going back!

Take no notice of the last couple of reviews…first time here and absolutely stunning 🤩…the flavours, textures and freshness were incredible! Waiting staff were attentive and on point…I’m not a vegan but would 100% eat here again!!!

A great place to share dishes with friends. They were very helpful in finding a lot of choices which did not have onions. It is great to have all the vegetarian choices.

So I went to this restaurant yesterday and food was amazing BUT we were shocked to notice a few things. 1 - The girl who was making the drinks was not wearing apron and when she was making drinks she was constantly wiping her hands from her pants and touching glasses and spoons and lemons etc with those same hands. 2 - Another girl who was cooking was scratching her neck and hair sometimes as it was hectic and may be she was stressed but same hands was used to touch the food people were consuming. 3 - no one in the kitchen or outside wore a head cap. To be honest I don't know how you guys have 5 starts in hygiene. 4 - The person taking orders went for a smoke break twice which is fine but during that time no body was there for any support. Again he did not go wash hands. This time we got served with those hands. So this is serious guys. You can't be so ignorant and serve people just anything. You have to take care of basic hygiene. There are old people, pregnant ladies and so many other kinds of people that can not afford to get sick but they can if they eat here. I did not have the guts to speak to anyone regarding these points there because I was embarrassed to say them out loud but I felt it was imp to share. The rest of the points are fine as they were understaffed and food took forever to arrive but all that can be ignored if the food is good. Lastly quantity - I ordered oyestor mushrooms wings. I got 4 small pieces. Now this place is a lil pricy I would have at least expect a 6 pieces. So lots of scope of improvement

Updated 20/07/24 - came again and had a delicious selection of food , friendly staff . more pics added. ** Previous review ** Visited for a family get together , initially quite slow with the drinks service and not all drinks came out together as a couple had been missed off the order BUT eventually resolved , the food was amazing and the cocktails were so good , if i lived in Bristol this place would be a regular visit , staff were friendly - recommended !

What a great place... fabulous food, relaxed vibe, knowledgeable and friendly staff and wonderful cocktails too. The mezze is amazing.. delicious plates of yummy vegan food. We had 4 plates and some bread between us, and enjoyed a cocktail to start. For desert, the 'cheesecake was sublime as was the baklava.... good sized portions. Cannot recommend this highly enough!

Highlight dish was the cauliflower and kebab skewer. On the whole however this food was on the bland side and under spiced for the type of cuisine they are presenting. The decor inside feels dated and tacky, but the service is warm and welcoming, with good advice on what to order.

Everyone chooses their plant-based diet for their own reasons. For me something I realised years ago was that I ate meat and dairy because I was told to. I don’t want to be told what to do. I don’t want to be told that a tip is already included. I don’t want to be told to pay with a card. It doesn’t match well with my values. The food was excellent, bar from the fact that you pay for bread when ordering hummus. Makes me sad 😢

Such amazing mezze food. Definitely recommend! You need at least 3-4 of the mezze plate or just a couple and some sharing plates, but it definitely fills you up. Cocktails are really nice as well. And the decorations inside are floral, modern and beautiful . I would recommend this place as a hendo gathering place as the decorations definitely deliver the vibe.

We went on a Thursday evening, having booked a table for 19.15. We'd had loads of recommendations for Koocha, so we were really excited to try it out. Unfortunately the place was in chaos, with extremely slow service and long wait times. It was nearly 45 minutes until our first drink arrived and an hour before we got some bread and hummus. My sense is it was understaffed for whatever reason, so hopefully they were just having a rough night, but it really took the joy out of the experience - especially when you can see Uber rider after Uber rider coming in to pick up takeout orders, which I feel they should have turned off while they caught up in the restaurant . We were comp'd a couple of drinks by the friendly staff, which we appreciated, and we really enjoyed the food when it arrived, particularly the Kookoo. We would absolutely go back to try again, as I've no doubt this could be a 5⭐ place on a different, much quieter, night. Prices can be punchy at times, as they are fairly flat across the menu, but I think this evens out if you're ordering a selection of dishes. £6.50 for a can of local larger felt a little steep, but there's also a nice selection of wines (£8.50 for 175ml) and cocktails (£11).

Great and quick service, delicious and rich food. We ordered about 6 mezzes + two desserts between two people so had some left to take home too! It was good to have the spread , though you could probably do with 2 mezzes per person depending on which ones you get. I especially loved the artichoke dip and the saffron cheesecake!

Fabulous restaurant, the staff were friendly, our table was a little delayed, so we had drinks while we waited and they were then on the house due to the delay. Great customer service, nice ambience, and the food was delicious. Couldn't recommend it more. Great find in Bristol. I'm glad we went.

Updated June 2024, still really good but not quite as good as it used to be. Two mezze plates makes a full meal, they're bigger than I expected. Great food, atmosphere and service are good, but not exceptional. Great vegan food, very popular. It moved to a new location nearby a while back, now it has more indoor space but the outdoor space is just on the pavement close to busy traffic and high levels of air pollution.

Great restaurant with lovely atmosphere. Some of the best vegan food in the south west! Staff were very attentive and Imögen and josh made sure we were well looked after. Definitely worth a visit!

The food is really great, but the drinks, even at happy hour, are perhaps a little too sweet and overpriced. The mixed platter is really delicious, as is the bread and whipped feta dip.

Exceptionally tasty vegan roast dinner. Every element had great care and attention to into it. Roasted veg was very tasty. Wellington could have been a bit stronger flavour, but honestly just nit picking as everything else was so exceptional. Looking forward to returning and seeing what else they do.

Time for my annual "see if the service has improved at Koocha trip" - spoilers, it hasn't. Arrived a bit early for my booking, promptly ignored for 20 minutes after being seated, finally get a drink, they gave me the wrong beer but it was close enough. A couple arrived and sat next to us at this point and after another 20 minutes seemed annoyed themselves about being ignored. They then received what I can only assume was our food ten minutes later. At the hour point I went to go and ask staff as no one had bothered to check on our empty glasses that had been sat on our table (which was in the front of the windows and in eyeline of the bar). They went and asked the chef and came back and apologised and said it would be out soon. All of this when there isn't even an option for the customer for food on a Sunday. It's a roast, that's the option. This is my third attempt since it moved from Zetland road, I walked out without eating and I will never be going back.

The food was okay, nothing very impressive or flavourful. The portion size was good, but the food didn't feel like enough value for the money. I'd rather eat something more delicious and bring my taste buds to life for that much money. I absolutely regreted ordering batata hara, though it tasted okay but that's something so simple I make at home regularly, why did I waste 6.5 pounds ordering that at a restaurant! I was expecting it to be something exceptionally delicious..but it was blah..nevermind. The kukoo was some spinach balls which was better than the bland potatoes but not worth 6.5 pounds. That's my personal opinion.
