Nice place, really great and helpful staff and a wide variety of drinks

Always happy with the sportsman. Service is good, drinks are reasonably priced. The pool table downstairs isn't level, but I'm sure they would have sorted it if I'd told someone Update: we look a spirit level and some packers and levelled the downstairs pool table (again, I'm sure they would have sorted if we'd asked someone!)

Nice to find a bar with a dartboard and pool table so close to town centre.

Had my stag night at the sportsman's, we were made very welcome. A very good choice of drinks at a very good price, the staff were excellent.

Well look no further than the Sportsmans it will fulfill all your needs on the sports watching front, but when you dig a bit deeper you will discover that there is much more on offer than just a sport boudoir. They have weekly live music on an actual stage, pool tournaments, comedy nights, student nights, pub quizzes and you can become a member to get discounted drinks. You're absolutely laughing with all this fun at your disposal and you can get a pint under £4.

Great pub Friday karaoke 🎤 is fantastic

When you've come from London and it's only 3.50 a pint of red stripe you can't go wrong really. Darts and pool on offer. Average beer selection but a few ciders on and good vibes make it a fun place to spend time.

Staff are unbelievably welcoming and warming, drinks are good value and atmosphere is warm and friendly. Cannot recommend enough! Everyone is ready for a conversation or advice on pool. Lovey people, lovely place for people of all ages!

Excellent pub for a pint after work if you're not chasing women and don't want to hang with hipsters. This is relaxed and old school with pool tables and dart boards.

Great place to watch the Rugby, spent most of this six nations here and you can also purchase a membership card to get discounted drinks. If you want to have drink and watch the football or rugby with a group then this is probably the place for you. Drinks are well priced and lots of screens everywhere, so you'll struggle not to be able to see whatever you have come to watch.

I have visited this lovely place every three times now, for Backgammon gatherings. Friendly atmosphere, good service, war hearted stuff.

Mainly frequented midweek by participants in games of some kind - cards, board or pool. Snooker downstairs. More club than pub. Welcoming nonetheless. Good value.

It's a great venue: relaxed , friendly and good Bass at an excellent price . Unique given it's central location. Good events as well (I'm a bit biased on that one...)

The roast dinner at the sportsman club is brilliant , just like your mother would make it , generous portions and Yorkshire puddings with all meats, if you have room please try the sweets as they are lush, the staff and customers are all very friendly, would recommend this club to all ages .WELL DONE !!!

If you ever get tired of the pubs in old market with their washed up trannies and old fruits then I implore you to swing by this absolute thumper of a gay bar.....when i say gay bar I'm not entirely sure it is in actual fact a "gay bar" but judging by the admiring glances i got as i strode in on rainy night after being kicked off a megabus before it had even left only metre s away you certainly get that vibe in there.I had been on my way meet a grinder hook up in london and i had had words with the driver almost straight off the bat when he had made a comment about my attire.....lets just say he came off worse and i needed somewhere to hide out.....this place was ideal...not more than 30 or so metres from where it all kicked off.I strode up to the bar and ordered a pint....it was karaoke night.....before too long i'm up there giving it my all singing rock and pop hits from 1987-88......beer flowed...glances were exchanged....some sexual....before I know what was happening I was dancing like there was no tomorrow on the dancefloor and wishing this night would never end....I'm sure the 6 or so other people in the pub that night felt the same.....i never caught any of their names....we never even spoke.....we just all had a "connection".....also the only person that wasn't a pensioner in there was polish and communication was an issue with all of them if i am honest....it was at that point i slipped in my heels on the notoriously slippery wooden floor and fractured my skull. I was still concious but badly concussed and started saying some pretty choice stuff about various communities that i am not proud of.Soon after I was arrested and after I was stitched up in the ridiculously convenient BRI I was arrested on a race charge which was later dropped but then i was subsequentially detained under then mental health act.This time it was only for a week so thats pretty good going.

Has to be the best Sunday dinner in Bristol home cooked and excellent value, dinner and a pint for a tenner you can't go wrong

Friendly staff and the cheapest pool in town @ 50p a go, sneaky snooker tables downstairs for the adventurous too. Never tried the food but is diet cheap also
