I order the bhuna sauce, Bombay potatoes with onion, pilau rice and naan bread with mint and mango chutney and without doubt the chef here is amazing. Naan bread never burnt and always fluffy and the bhuna sauce is very tasty. Portion sizes are slightly smaller than other places but so much more nicer and tastier. Very occasionally they send poppadoms and mint sauce and have to say they're absolutely delicious and the nicest I've ever had anywhere. Very friendly staff and always deliver within 30 minutes.

We have ordered our takeaway from here many times and it has been really good, but recently this has changed for whatever reason. The last two occasions have been a disaster. The first time, we waited over two hours for delivery, so this weekend we checked first and was told it was collection only. We arrived within the thirty minutes stated but ended up waiting another thirty five minutes in the car. When we opened the food the portions were half the usual size, our butter chicken sauce was red and we had been given samosas instead of onion bhajis. I am afraid we will not be ordering from Cinnamon Tree again. They obviously have problems with their chef at the moment.

If there is a criticism, it is around the lack of parking outside and in the immediate area. So, pedestrians are happy. The restaurant this evening was empty save for my wife and I and a few take-away customers. Personally, this is not a turn off for me and obviously expedited our meals. We just went for a main course and some side dishes: The mixed grill, aubergine bargee, tarka dal and a spinach and dal dish and a couple of garlic naan'. As ever a good portion and very flavoursome.

Decor was very basic and the walls had some paint peeling. There were poppodum on the chairs. Service was very sloppy. The 2 servers who were the only people that we saw seemed to laughing and joking all the time with each other and weren't very attentive. They even were playing modern YouTube style Asian music very loud in the restaurant from their phones. Not very professional. The food was only average. Nothing special. I've had a lot better. The dips had been mixed up - they went fresh. My friend went to the toilet and said that they were disgusting. Hope the kitchen is not the same. Shame, I've been there about 15 years ago and it was so much better then. I will not be going back there.

Glad to find a place here - the place was slightly less packed on a Friday than those nearer to central Guildford. A great welcome, with skittish and friendly staff.Good poppadoms, and well-presented main course, though part of one of the dishes was spilt on the table by the staff member serving, and no attempt made to rectify. Good main course, with nice combination of flavours, though I found the mince and chicken combination a little too much after a while. I usually go for more unusual choices, but altough there were several on offer, none looked that appealing.Overall pretty good, and would be happy to give it another go. The atmosphere was good, bright and uncluttered decor.

We were seated promptly and drinks order taken straight away.We were impressed with the Poppadum’s and how they were presented. A selection of 6 dips with the standards but with few surprise additions. The main courses were average. I had a special which was advertised as spicy sauce with a sharp lemon bite. My wife had the Cinnamon Tree special. Both sauces had exactly the same texture, spice and only difference was the lemon which could have been added before serving.Value was good as was décor but food needs improvement.

Having lived in a curry hotspot of London for over 20 years I'm nervous about provincial town curry houses. This, is one of the better examples in Guildford and I was pleased with my meal. My standard meal at new curry places is always the same; Jalfrazi, Rogan, Onion Bahji, Bombay Aloo, plain and garlic Naan, mint sauce. Food was good, tender chicken, chewy but tasty lamb in well spiced sauces and good amount of fresh green chilli in Jalfrazi for the fresh kick. Bahji could've done with something more, but okay proportion of onion to flour. The Bombay Allo was good but not brilliant. Both naan tasty. Mint sauce needed more mint and coriander. A good meal. I shall return.

Until recently we lived very close to the cinnamon tree and started to use it regularly for takeaway food. We couldn't of been happier with the vegetarian options available since they are not simply vegetarian equivalents of their meat dishes, but individual dishes in their own rights. You can also have the vegetable side dishes as mains if you so wish. The vegetarian dishes are made with oil rather than butter which is perfect for us since we transitioned to vegan. Since discovering cinnamon tree we have eaten in the restaurant a number of times, as well as collecting takeaway from them. The staff are genuinely friendly, warm and welcoming. It's always a pleasure to visit them. Since we've moved house we've made use of their free delivery service which is always timely and delivered by very friendly gentlemen. Most recently our food arrived with a free bottle of wine due to an apparent delay that we were actually unaware of. The Cinnamon Tree was chosen on the strength of its interesting vegetarian options in addition to the usual meat dishes - and it did a very good job on both. The Dum Aloo Kashmiri was excellent and something I'd not tried before, The Chana Masala was very good and the meat dishes were also up to standard with great flavours. The only thing that could have been improved were the Onion Bhajis which were rather flat and dry.Often vegetarian dishes are simply the usual meat choices with the meat substituted by vegetables. The Cinnamon Tree does a much better job than that with several which are specifically made to be veggie.Wine was priced fairly. Service was friendly and professional. So if you need to satisfy both meat eaters and vegetarians, do give this restaurant a try! We will definitely be going back.

( knew it was there but never think about it)We decided to get off the bus and give it ago! We were not dissapointed! We had poppadoms to start which also came out with a lovely range of about 8 different colourful yummy kind of dips. For main I had the lamb palak ghost. ( lamb cooked with spinach to give a distinctive aroma and flavour)It was amazing, so tasty. I didn't take my eyes of it for a second, so my partner couldn't steal anymore than the mouthful I reluctantly let him try! He was so jealous!! He had the chicken madras, which again was so tasty! We had a sagg aloo for side, x2 special fried rice and a keema nann. We couldn't fault the food and the presentation at all and could not fault the friendly helpful staff. They answered our questions on tastes of certain curries! We also had 2 beers and 2 large glasses of wine. Our bill was £50 which we thought was good value! To top of a lovely evening I was presented with a rose on our goodbye. We also found out the cinnamon tree do deliveries! They are now our favourite Indian takeaway! Who knows where we may of ended up that night for dinner but very happy we got of the bus when we did!!

I have been to The Cinnamon Tree many times - usually for take-away. They have a big selection of curries alongside typical starters and side-dishes including Pilau Rice, Naan Bread, and Bombay Aloo. You'll find favourites such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Jalfrezi, and the usual Madras, Korma, Rogan variations... There's also a selection of "Chef's Specials" dishes. It is worth noting that the restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the town centre - located next to Domino's and Pizza Hut. The restaurant seats about 50 people, so it may be worth booking a table on Friday/Saturday nights. The Sunday (All You Can Eat) Buffet offers a selection of popular dishes for only £7.95, which is great value for money. Whilst the food is good, what makes this restaurant stand-out is probably their friendly service that make you feel welcome from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. For those wishing to stay home, they also offer delivery. Whether you wish to dine-in or opt for take-away/delivery, this place is ideal for those living or visiting near-by.

Went to a Sunday Buffet and very disappointed. The food had more colouring than I have seen since the 80's and although I have a usually cast iron constitution..... Well, I'll let you guess the rest.Service was barely evident and overall I would rather have root canal work than return.Would like to state more but have to run to the smallest room again.

it is a 10min walk from the centre but worth the walk - even in the pouring rain. we were a group of four and had a mix of dishes- all good. my chicken biryani was well presented in a ring of rice, something that I have never seen before. it was £23 each for poppadoms, mains and a couple of beers each.

curry with friends on a friday evening - the Cinnamon Tree consistently provides good food & friendly service. The lamb jalfrezi was excellent ... i also had some madras which was a little hotter than other madras' that i have had. I booked on line via email and got a response quickly and efficiently - may be a good idea to book if you are planning to visit at "peak times"

Dishes were completely bland. Chicken had the texture of fish; just disintegrated as soon as you put it in your mouth. Really disappointed. Left more than half of it.

We have been many times and always enjoy the food and service. The menu is large with many variations on the traditional curry. I am a veggie and can enjoy several completely different dishes. The staff are really friendly and always happy to help you decide what to choose. Not expensive.

Other friends rated highly so we gave it a go. You pay a higher price than other vendors and the quality is no better. The presentation was excellent but the flavours could have been improved upon. Definitely not the worst I've eaten by a long way but still wide of the mark.

Whilst on holiday wife fancied a curry, and Tripadvisor ratings didn't disappoint with the Cinnamon Tree. Really tasty food with some different dishes from usual, and good value too. Chefs special "stuffed chicken" was best we've had.A rose for my wife was nice touch at the end of the meal, as was the offer of a liqueur (which I declined as I was driving).Plenty of people going in for take away shows it is well thought of by locals, I wish we lived nearer to visit again.

Our first time at The Cinnamon Tree in Guildford. I've driven along Woodbridge Road so many times over the past few years, and barely noticed this place. It's facade isn't swanky, and doesn't naturally tempt you in, but thanks to TA, we gave it a go on a Wednesday night in October. I'm very glad we did.You know the service is going to be a bit special when someone rushes out of the front door to move the advertising board, so that your passengers have plenty of room to get out of the car.The restaurant inside is long & skinny, and the ambience is natural and relaxed rather than posh & formal. The food had some of the usual suspects from most Indian menus, but also quite a few original dishes and chef's specials. We had various prawn, lamb & chicken main courses, all well presented, appropriately spiced and very satisfying. Peshwari naan breads and a chickpea vegetable dish were also good. The service was excellent throughout - unhurried but responsive, friendly but not subservient. Lovely finishing touches included a rose for the missus, extra mint chocolates with the bill, and liqueurs.Damned good value too.We will return.

when I say no frills, I mean this place is totally back to basics in a good way. Service and food are great, in a very low key restaurant that is clean and tidy. Had a fantastic work night out, food was really tasty and the service spot on. Will definitely return.

There are two very good Indian restaurants in Guildford, The Cinnamon Tree and Ashuka. I waiver between which is best but The Cinnamon Tree is my current favourite. A delivery - arrived in 20 minutes on a Saturday night - was really very good with all dishes well spiced and with generous portion size. Jalfrezi was just the right heat and the Pasanda creamy and rich, both with beautifully tender chicken. Add in a Prawn Puree, Onion Bhaji, Rice and Naan and a perfect Indian Meal for two.PS Did I mention the free bottle of wine and poppadoms?

I went here on buffet night, there weren't many options to choose from but what they did have was quite good. Some of the curries I felt lacked flavour but all in all it was a satisfying experience. We both left with full stomachs.

I have been both in a large group (dads curry club of 20) and with friends and it is always fantastic. I visit quite a few with our club and I think this is one of the very best. One time the couple we were with realised their last train was about to depart and as we started to leave in a panic the manager asked what was wrong. He then gave us all a lift to the station!! The food is fresh and tasty, top service, but you do need to book at the weekend.

Ordered starters for a committee meeting in Guildford and they were really tasty. The restaurant made every effort to take into account our requirements. Delivery was early so the food was slightly cold but the polite service and high quality food made up for it.

It took an hour and twenty minutes for the restaurant to call to say the cauliflower bhaji was out of stock. This was when the food was supposed to have already been delivered. When asked how long the order would now take I was told twenty minutes... 50 minutes later the food arrived and was cold. Wish we could say the taste was good but the food didn't taste of anything.

Just tried to order a takeaway, card declined, got more then enough money in my bank as a business owner and the guy rudely wouldn’t try again. Laughing saying ‘ what do you want me to do if you haven’t got the money? It’ll get declined again’ Problem your end not mine. Very rude. Taking my business elsewhere tonight.

Went on a Tuesday night for the banquet meal at £12.95. I would suggest booking on that night but as there were only 2 of us we were lucky to be a walk in. The food was pleasant and plentiful. They automatically bring out pots to take what you have not had home with you and a bag. Great that nothing is wasted or you are made to feel awkward asking to take it home. It is a small restaurant and I did find it noisy. They seem to cater well for larger groups. Let’s face it - where can you eat so well locally for that price. Yes there are a few things they could change but for the price I have no complaints. I would think a purpose built wheel chair would struggle to get through the doorway but NHS chairs would manage. It is very accessible for people other than that.
