Ok pub if you like paying over the odds for drink

I ordered a cocktail that was poorly mixed and tasted off. The prices were higher than expected for the quality of drinks and service provided. Overall, I left feeling unsatisfied and unlikely to return.

Attended for our works Christmas party this year after popping in last year for a few drinks previously. The seating space was great and the food was lovely (large portions sizes). The music was great all night and it was overly busy, whether that was due to it being a Friday night rather than a Saturday. This meant we could easily go to the bar or have a dance without having to push through people. The only downside which dropped it a star was the pudding with our food, I ordered an Eton mess and would not recommend (a lot of us struggled to eat it) it was pure cream and strawberry sauce pretty much making it far too sweet and sickly, needed more meringue etc adding to it to break it up abit

Arrived on a Sunday for a meal for my wife's birthday, which was quiet in there, stood at the bar to announce that we had a table booked, only to be ignored whilst others turned up to the bar and got served, then with us just standing there a member of staff just casually polishing a glass with no other staff about, eventually someone decided to notice we were actually standing at the bar, so was then taken up to the restaurant, service straight away was extremely poor as the waitress would only ask my wife if any allergies, wanted any drinks etc, to which I find extremely arrogant especially as we are BOTH dining, not just my wife, we then had a look at the drinks menu and no deals on cocktails only through December, food menu didn't look that appealing so we walked out, went to a nearby restaurant, nice food, very busy and both treated as valued customers, which says a lot, will not be returning, extremely disappointed.

Hidden gem. Blink and you’ll miss it kind of place but definitely one to watch out for next time we come here. Staff downstairs and upstairs made sure to recommend ordering through the app to take advantage of the discount code saving. We ordered the platter. Steak was beautifully cooked. Burgers were juicy and seasoned nicely. We can’t understand why the place isn’t more crowded. Thank you to the staff for making us so welcome.

Amazing venue inside an old church

Nipped in for emergency food, absolutely starving. Staff we're very nice. Steak was a bit ropey but left full and happy 😁.

Would not recommend. Went in for a drink yesterday, waited 45 minutes!!! At the bar to be served a drink. Only 3 bar staff on a Saturday night is wild. When I politely asked the barman if he could serve us next, he laughed in my face and shrugged his shoulders at me, and then after I left after 45 mins of waited, he did a sarcastic laugh as we walked away. Was happily serving all the young girls around us though, who he knew full well arrived after us. Shame the awful staff in this bar ruin a great venue. Some serious training is needed fast as this place is going very down hill. We won’t be returning any time soon.

Waiting at the bar, watched 4 different groups of people get served ahead of us after they'd just walked up and we had be standing there 20 minutes!! Busy Saturday night and the bar staff don't seem to be able to manage a queue. Very dissapointed and left to find a much nicer bar just round the corner with amazing customer service! In a city with lots of bar options, this one would be at the bottom of my recommendations now. Will not return.

Stood at the bar for 30 minutes, not enough staff, other customers walked out and it wasn’t even busy, bar staff that could serve were serving customers that had only just turned up. The staff need training on either using their eyes properly or asking who’s next

Went here for drinks and snacks, when we first went upstairs I saw two members of staff sitting on the food prep area, one with his feet tucked under him, young lad about twenty one with red converse on. I never said anything to my lot, then when we left my partner was furious when she saw staff again sitting on the counter and VAPING !…so we go downstairs to complain to ‘the manager, a slim male with facial hair’ who says he is the bar manager, not his problem !…I told him that was a sh#t response and asked for who was in charge !…he then got a pleasant female who apologised, hadn’t seen anything as she was in the office !…zero standards really…an extension of social life by the looks of things…very expensive youth club !,

Night out at the church is always an experience. I have yet to come here for a meal, but the meal seems good. I've been out a couple of times with the and it is always packed and has a good selection of drinks and cocktails at the bar. The outside is literally a church, but the inside architecture is great, especially at night. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Really friendly staff. We ordered pizzas and loaded fries. The food was delicious, we ordered 3 pizzas, salt and chilli fries and bacon and cheese loaded fries. We couldn’t finish it all, portion sizes were huge.

Quirky place with good value cocktails - some at 2 for £11 and some at 2 for £13. Very nice.

The staff aren't even covert anymore as to how they will ignore males (who are unaccompanied by females) who are waiting for a drink and will serve women several women before that man despite waiting before those people and waving at them when the bar maid asks who's next. Absolute joke! Shoddy preferential service, pretentious vibes and half of the staff are on it 😂

Hadn't been to the Church for some time so popped in for lunch. Staff friendly and efficient. Food tasty. However, limited choice of mains for vegetarians, only falafel burger, fajitas and Margherita pizza. Went for pizza, which was delicious. Fancied fajitas but was told there was no substitute for the chicken and beef, so basically just peppers and onions - but charged at £15, same as meat ones. Would suggest this is changed, as veggies are getting a poor deal on those. How about adding halloumi?

Just a lovely place to go staff always very pleasant

First time eating here upstairs. Food was lovely, everyone in the group was happy with their choices which I always take as a good sign. Thin crispy pizza base which I like but there's no choice on base. Nice drinks too & great service. Onl thing I that because Chester Races were on the queue for the toilets was really long & they weren't in great condition by the evening.

Lovely place, looks amazing. We went in for lunch and it empty but 3 staff. We sat and waited and waited, no menus even so got some from the bar. Still no service even to take an order or ask if we wanted anything so after 15 minutes we walked out. Very disappointed after the great reviews

Great bar, good indoor and outdoor spaces, we had a private room for a work event which was a good space with well catered food but used the outdoor space too. Highly recommend.

We went out of curiosity, it said church bar, and in fact it was exactly like that. A bar inside a real church... very characteristic. We had a drink and spent some time inside the place, outside there is a nice outdoor terrace with lots of nice people sitting and chatting. If you come to Chester you definitely need to take a look. The service was great. Had the hanging kebab with homemade pitta. The food was really nice but the pitta was just a lump of dough.

I have come to the church for 5 years and it's always a great place for cocktails and it has a great beer garden. Highlights have always been the zombie, mojitos and the old fashioneds. It has great music at night in the beer garden and you can settle out there for the night in the summer. Unfortunately we came here today and the cocktails were absolutely awful. The mojito was completely flat and I sent it back and got another which was the same. My friends got the old fashioned which used to come which a big sphere of ice with orange peel around it, now they come with basic ice and both my friends said they were very poor compared to usual experience at the church. It has put us off but hope it is a one off but I doubt it.

Went for a friends birthday had no acknowledgment of the booking then told we could just go where ever. Sat and a young girl came over to take are order without menus being brought to us. When looking at the menu the girl was staring at us feeling rushed to choose. We all ordered a burger which says served with salad and slaw and the girl said with chips not stating an extra charge. When food arrived we had no salad and a few luke warm chips and myself a burnt burger bun. We let that go as I didn’t want to make a fuss on my friends birthday. When the bill arrive we noticed we had been charged for the chips when we questioned why, as we all though it was instead of the salad her reply was the ‘salad’ was on the burger which consumed of a piece of lettuce, slice of tomato and a couple of red onions not a salad at all. I was left feeling very disappointed and won’t be returning in a hurry

Went for a drink to be told it was closed until 5pm but the opening Times on the outside said they were open. Very disappointed as we always visit this great place when in Chester.

It is a place to enjoy electronic music, a very unique location, and with an open terrace where you can enjoy a drink outdoors.

I loved it I'd not been in there before as I'm not from that area il be telling my work colleagues abt it tomorrow though a old church which as been converted into a pub and kept some of its original features plus there's a terrace to have drinks outside

Went here Christmas eve, place is amazing inside, great architecture and kept all original features with a modern twist, gorgeous food and the best cocktails. Shut early as it was Xmas eve, but can imagine it being a buzz at a normal weekend.

The food was great! To many staff taking drink orders and then getting them wrong, but leaving the wrong drinks but charging for them? Too many people they must of been at capacity by 8pm, yes when i left there was a huge que to get in, but inside you couldnt move, outside was no better.

Nice place for a drink, just don't order any fries, they serve the world's smallest chips. Apparently that's the normal size!!! 😂

Saturday night , give it a miss , loads of underage teens , using fake ids Really need to clamp down on it all . Dangerous for young girls , age 16-18 mostly , Bouncers need to really start checking id and turning them away Unfortunately I won’t be going again on a sat night .

It's an old church, so expect stained glass windows, old church organ and general church architecture! Outside terrace is nice, with heaters for those of us that feel the cold. Beer and cocktails on special deals, so reasonably cheap. We had pizza for food, it was nice but not spectacular. Overall, we both enjoyed it. What let it down for me, and this happens almost everywhere I go, is the man in the gents toilets with a selection of toiletries hoping for a sale when you wash your hands. I really wish this wasn't a thing, since it brings down the whole experience for me. I'm guessing this is a Friday/Saturday night thing and most nights you can relieve yourself without someone standing watching you, so I'd go back to the church, but not on a Friday or Saturday night.

Don't seem to be able to get in. Tried for two weeks in a row with a friend, but bouncers say they've "stopped letting in", even though it's only about 11:30pm. Apparently it's open until 2am? Maybe it's because we're male?

My recent experience at The Church was marred by the shockingly unprofessional behaviour of one particular bouncer. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with blatant rudeness and disrespect. Despite arriving precisely at 5.45pm, the bouncer insisted that we were 1 hour and 30 minutes late, which was simply not true. This was especially frustrating since we had arranged a booked event via email, clearly indicating our arrival time. As a table of 16, we were informed that booking a booth for 12 people would be sufficient, which we accepted. However, the bouncer angrily informed us that the booth was limited to 12 guests only. Seeking clarification and a resolution, I requested to speak with the manager. Shockingly, the bouncer went as far as denying entry to my partner, as my partner swore in passing comment to the group, basically stating that it was a ‘joke’. The bouncer thought he was speaking to him and from that denied his entry. Unjustifiable act only added to our frustration and disbelief. I appreciate that a couple of my friends became involved in the situation out of frustration. However, it is important to note that if the bouncer had not been so incredibly rude from the beginning, this unfortunate escalation would have never occurred. The overall treatment we received from this bouncer was completely unacceptable. Their demeanor and attitude were not only disrespectful but also tarnished what should have been an enjoyable evening. I urge the management to take appropriate action and ensure that such unprofessional behaviour is not repeated in the future.

We attended the Church as a group of 8 for a cocktail class, as a hen do activity. I apologise now, the man who conducted the class was either called Taylor or Tyler. He was fabulous and was very engaging with our group and was excellent in showing us how to make 2 cocktails from their menu. The first one we made was a "Strawberry Mojito". He gave us a demonstration and then 2 by 2, we went up and had a go ourselves at making the drink. Personally, i do not like rum but making the drink was fun and interesting. The second drink was called "Tastes like Fanta" which was mostly lemon based. Even though the bride spilled the mixture on her dress, Taylor/Tyler was very helpful and made sure we had enough ingredients for her to try again. We had a glass of prosecco on arrival, 2 cocktails to make, a couple of shots and a skittle bomb. It was very accommodating as I was unable to drink shots or the energy drink in a skittle bomb, Taylor/Tyler provided me with a shot of lemonade instead. Food was provided as part of the package, in-between the 2 cocktails. We had 2 pizzas, fries and 2 bowls of loaded nachos (pulled pork and chili beef). On a couple of occasions we had non-party people stroll into the room. Taylor/Tyler was very good and ushered them out quickly and closed the door to ensure that our class was remaining private throughout. We highly recommend booking the cocktail class at the Church for any event. The service is beyond what we expected and all were very impressed. Massive shout out to our teacher as he was brilliant!

Decent food, decent outdoor seating area with heaters, lovely to sit in the sun and listen to the music as the sun goes down and the whole church turns into a night life club. Noticed private room area for Hen dos and birthday parties. Would recommend

Been to the church several times over the years but in recent visits just feel like it’s gone down hill. Outside area looking a bit shabby. We ordered a pitcher cocktail priced £25. What a waste of time, I’m certain it had no alcohol in at all. We also ordered a platter for £25. Same standard of food as Wetherspoons but triple the price. Total waste of £50

It's some racist place. My friend and I were ordered to move out of the table because "someone else" had booked it. We moved out and decided to wait and see who this person was but immediately after leaving the table the guys who were standing next to us sat there. I asked about when the imaginary guest who booked the table was gonna arrive but was told he's coming and he never came for next hour we waited there. In conclusion, we were moved from that table because we were the only blacks present there on that day. If you're black and worse with no British accent, go there at your own risk. Was there on the 6th of May from around 17:30 on the table under the "let's party" sign

We did the cocktail making course, we had so much fun and Xvier was an amazing teacher he made our experience a wonderful one.
