Can't wait for food to be on offer as I'm sure it'll be just as brilliant as what the Pub Sisters have done so far. Clean and warm, great atmosphere, brilliant music and a fantastic pint 👍

On a narrowboat trip, we stopped for a beer on the way. It's a fairly large pub and spacious. If the weather is nice, the garden looks nice.

We visited here on a random midweek night in July 2024 from the canal where we were holidaying. We had moored for the night very close by and had plans to visit the Lion Salt Works museum the next morning. Photos online had led us to think food would be available. However, when we were there, the kitchen was out of action due to a problem with the gas supply, no fault of the management. Despite this setback, the staff were super lovely and helpful, the beer was great, and the locals very welcoming, kindly offering my husband a lift to the next town to go pick up some takeaway for the family, which the pub then allowed us to eat in the garden. On chatting with everyone there, it seems new people took on the pub late 2023 and are trying to build the business back up from it having dwindled previously. From the tour guide given by the boat company this place doesn't get a mention, but it is very deserving of some canal holiday business. Maybe phone ahead of your hoping on food as they should get the gas sorted eventually, but we all know how it is waiting on the gas man!

What a totally delightful pub in the country next to the canal. It has to be the most charming pub we’ve ever been in! It is full and f little nooks and crannies and each one has a wood burning stove! The staff are really friendly and engaging. We visited today in July. The weather wasn’t fantastic but still not cold enough for the fires to be lit. I bet it’s unbelievably cosy in the winter months. I understand that it has just changed hands and I would beg the new landladies, “please don’t change anything”! You have yourselves a real treasure!

We stopped at the Saltbarge on our barging holiday in May . We found that the kitchen was closed for refurb,so we were unable to obtain food. However the landlady and regulars were very helpful and were able to recommend a local takeaway, who delivered our order to the pub. Whilst waiting for our delivery to take it back to the barge, we were able to enjoy some drinks and conversation in the pub. We look forward to visiting again in the future, when the pub is fully up and running , and wish the new owners every success.

This is a lovely, lovely pub. Everyone is so friendly; the prices are reasonable and there are lots of different areas to sit in, making it feel cosy. The new managers are trying really hard; it’s a great pub to visit if you’re on a boat and if you’re a hire boater it’s a great last or first night of your hire. Wishing them all the best. Think they are going to be offering food soon.

We went in here for food and drink after visiting the Lion Salt works which we really enjoyed. The pub looks very inviting from the outside with beautiful hanging baskets. However, we were disappointed upon entering the pub as we did not feel very welcome. The staff were not particularly friendly and they said they had no facility for tea or coffee and seemed annoyed thay I had even asked. There also didn't seem to be any food on so we just had a soft drink and a pint and then went back. It seemed very much like a pub for locals having a pint but definitely not for visitors which is odd considering it's directly opposite a popular tourist attraction. Please note we went on a sunny weekend day in the summer time!

We visited on a Thursday lunchtime when the pub was extremely quiet. Our welcome was friendly and the menu, though limited, was reasonably priced. The food took a little while to arrive but looked appetising and all four of us enjoyed our meal. The coffee was served in very large cups, a nice ending to our meal. Sadly this pub looks a little tired and past its best but it is deserving of support.
