Great chippy, clean inside and plenty of seating. Friendly staff members. Called up to ask what they fry everything in, was told beef drippings but they can use vegetable oil to accommodate for anyone opposed to the beef drippings which was ideal for us. Food itself was great. Highlight was the gravy 😍 absolutely beautiful. Great experience, highly recommend! Update 23/1/2025 Called up to order but they no longer use vegetable oil, only beef drippings which is unfortunate!

The best chipshop in a town that has more than most! Its been there for donkey's years. Looks unassuming and easy to miss from the outside, a real local's secret. Good balance of price and quality. Would recommend to any locals or visitors

I'm not being a keyboard warrior but this is a platform to share experiences & help others - especially if they have allergies/dietary requirements! I did my homework AS ALWAYS and did try to contact you many times by phone to no avail - but we'd seen the reviews & seen the sign on the shop front - GF available Fri & Sat, so we thought ideal. When we arrived just before 7pm and we're told simply 'not today', we felt really disappointed... we are visitors to the area and were looking forward to it... I'm sure the hype is real here, but I'd say it's not a guarantee to bag yourself a GF F&C dinner and that's based on MY EXPERIENCE! This isn't intended to be a negative review just an honest first hand experience.

The owners are the loveliest people and let me tell you now!...you WILL NOT FIND better fish and chips in Newquay-FACT actually Cornwall! Oh hell I'm just going to say it! in the whole UK! We look forward to it so much every week! The cod is beautiful! So fresh..always cooked perfectly in the most unbelievably scrumptious batter! super light and crispy (which I know is their own secret receipe with more stages to it than a chemistry test!! ) It's honestly like nothing you've ever had! Theres no doughy batter underneath either!,The chips are always gorgeous and golden!,light and crispy ,full of gorgeous fluffy spuds! NEVER dried up like cardboard or like they've been under a heatlight for eternity,also the curry sauce is lush and not the usual rubbish you may have had before,it has just the right amount of spices and a lovely fruityness to it making it like a carribean curry sauce,just lovely! the " gluten free" fish and chips really is awesome! ,my partner is coeliac so this is brilliant for him,I have the gluten free option aswell simply because you cant tell the difference! It's seriously THAT GOOD!!,fantastic value for money and generous portions,I find myself wanting it again for tea on a Saturday!(because I'm a pig lol) ! What else can I say that I haven't already..oh yes....Go to The Chippy! ,its SIMPLY THE BEST XX

Easily the best traditional chip shop in Newquay. The food is prepared fresh to order, the batter is light and crispy, the chips are cooked to perfection and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a small selection of seats inside and some benches outside if you wish to dine there, but they also have a local delivery service which is cheap and quick via their app!

They didn't pack an item, had gotten home. Travelled back no apology just handed the missing bit like they knew they did it. Money saving scam on their part

We are locals and treat ourselves every Friday to our tea from The Chippy,we've tried all our local fish and chip shops but believe me when I say seriously!!..once you have had The Chippy you will never go elsewhere again! The quality and standard of this Chippy is 2nd to none! Beautiful chips that are always cooked perfectly,soft and fluffy inside and gorgeously crisp on the outside! You get a generous portion of best fresh cod which is perfectly cooked wrapped in the most gorgeous golden crispy batter with NO thick doughy batter inside! We never go anywhere else!,also they do gluten free which is perfect for my other half being a coeliac,I also have the gluten free cod and chips as you can't even tell the difference .The owners are so lovely and a real credit to it! THE CHIPPY is ...in the words of Tina Turner.. Simply THE BEST in Newquay !!

Just ordered the potato scallop and mushy peas, and it was absolutely delicious. Perfect for a vegetarian or someone who can't eat a whole fish and chips, although I have tried the fish and chips and they are fantastic. Well done to the owners, you are doing a great job!

This is the best chippy in Newquay! We come every time we’re here visiting and it’s always brilliant. Batter is nice and crispy without any grease. Fresh fish and fluffy chips perfect with their curry sauce or gravy. Service is always wonderful and it’s great value for money! Huge portion sizes! Definitely recommend this chippy over all others in town.

Looked on TripAdvisor for recommendations for gf fish and chips in Newquay as visiting the area for a long weekend. What a lovely find and reviews spot on. The gf fryer was not on but they said if happy to wait would supply order. Definitely worth the wait. Best gf fish and chips I have had. Not greasy. Arrived very hot. Good price. Makes a change that gf was not different price.Thank you to staff for being so accommodating. If coeliac this place is a must. My husband had regular fish and chips and said his were delicious too.

We had an excellent experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. The chips were especially brilliant. Our toddler, who has never liked chips before, actually loved them and couldn't get enough. That alone speaks volumes about the quality. The fish and chips were incredibly tasty, even better than what we've had at Rick Stein's! On top of that, the service was outstanding. The team was friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. If you're in Newquay and craving some top-notch fish and chips, The Chippy is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended.

Well what a little chippy this is. Kids loved it we loved it. Fish was cooked perfectly, really good crunchy batter, not swimming in grease either lovely and clean. Staff were great gave us some extra trays to share out with the kids. Portion size is very good. Very reasonably priced. Keep up the good work will be back before go.

They did a big order for our explorer unit, they were so efficient and really kind and helpful, more importantly their food was fabulous, I would not hesitate to recommend them!!!!

This lovely chippy just fed 11 people a lovely fresh and delicious lunch. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly. The staff even pointed out their family meal deals which made the price a little cheaper. We carried our food to the beach to enjoy and all agreed it was the nicest fish and chips we've had in a while. Also the best chip shop curry sauce we've ever had.

The Chippy in Newquay is an absolute gem, and it made for the perfect start to our UK honeymoon. My wife and I were delighted to find this spot, and it exceeded all our expectations. The food was simply outstanding. I have never seen a bigger piece of fish, and it was cooked to absolute perfection – crispy on the outside, moist and flaky on the inside. The portion sizes were generous, and every bite was a taste of heaven. Despite the heavy demand from Boardmasters festival-goers, The Chippy kept up with ease, serving up their delicious fare without compromising on quality. What really stood out, though, was the service. Even after what must have been a long and busy day, the staff were cheerful, friendly, and welcoming. Their positive attitude added to the overall experience, making us feel right at home. The Chippy excelled on all fronts, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off our honeymoon. If you’re in Newquay, do yourself a favor and visit The Chippy – it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Late lunch after a morning of boarding. Staff were so welcoming and I’d have to say it’s the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. Portion size was perfect and all the food was cooked to order! Great picnic benches outside as well to sit in the shade and eat! Fabulous! So pleased we stopped here! Great value for money as well. 3x regular fish and chips. Large curry sauce and a bottle of ketchup…£30!

I have had fish and chips all over the country ,and at the age of 57, I can honestly say these are the best I have ever had anywhere ever ! Simply perfect .

Absolutely lovely fresh, fish & chips, the best I have had in a very, very long time. Chips kept crispy while we travelled, they normally soggy after 5 mins from other places. I had the plaice which was boned, it was so fresh & tasty. Cod strips were large enough for my boy & Cod and chips tasty with great portions. The mushy peas weren't out of a standard catering tin, the best since being up north. Medium curry sauce tasted fresher too. They have an specials board on the counter, don't miss it like I did. Need to select from that next time! You have to wait for all to be cooked, so be patient for big orders, really well worth the wait.

Fantastic fish and chips, reasonably priced and portion size was perfect. The curry sauce was a nice dipper and all enjoyed by the beach. Recommend coming here when in Newquay.

Fish n chip supper impressed nope .. Absolutely amazed what a meal not had something as good as this in a very long time . Fresh cooked fish soft n fluffy batter just the right thickness and soo crispy it was perfect . I'm sure you won't get better anywhere

Food is stone cold I want a full refund

First time using the Chippy, ordered 2 Scampi and 1 chips food was nice and hot ! Enough chips for two without left overs. We ordered (5.28pm) for as soon as possible which originally said 6.20pm to 6.30pm the time kept changing until it said 7.05pm to 7.25pm so disappointing that it took nearly 2 hours for delivery. Will try chippy again hopefully won’t have such a long wait ! Maybe collection is better option and won’t take so long and is better than delivery, if not then back to Francines !

Down visiting Newquay for 2 nights and had the haddock & cod both nights. Unreal quality of fish and chips definitely recommend.
