The Cheshire Lines in Sefton

This was my husband and i first visit to Cheshire Lines. all the staff were so friendly . As some of my husbands family worked on the cheshire railways he enjoyed looking round all pictures on with walls. We are staying in southport for Christmas (2023) and can not wait to return on christmas day for our evening meal.

This is wonderful very traditional English pub with a great atmosphere and just like pubs used to be. The straightforward menu is cooked by the excellent chef and delicious too. The staff who looked after us, Debbie and Brad, were very welcoming and friendly they made us feel at home. The value for money was amazing and I can particularly recommend the roast Sunday lunch.

Popped in for lunch on Thursday. Service was incredible and it was so great to see the place busy. Food was lovely though deserts were a bit slow to come out. The only thing we were unhappy about was things we heard from the kitchen.

We've lived in Southport, just under 54 years and had never been to the Cheshire Lines, until today. Which was a mistake. The mistake being, never going before. We both had the Steak and Ale pie, which was to die for. The music was low, but 60s stuff, the staff perfect, and the prices just right.

What a fantastic evening we had! Karaoke with Wendy was brilliant as were the people taking part especially Charlene who I believe was a member of staff.. what a talent. Reasonably priced drinks and great staff in a hidden gem in Southport. Can’t wait for our next visit. Thank you

What a fab place this is. We ordered steak ciabatta from the lunch menu with a couple of drinks. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was lovely and we'll definitely be returning soon - thank you and keep up the fab work 👍

Great service Great food fantastic value for money, Sunday roast was fantastic the gravy was proper beef gravy loved it , we enjoyed it so much we went back day after and I had steak cooked to perfection and hubby had the fish which he said was great, we going back next Sunday, really cozy and lovely friendly staff x

Came for a quick bite to eat and a few drinks with my friends. Food was incredible - the steak and ale pie was delicious and the chips were great too. The barmaid (she did tell me her name but I’ve honestly forgot it. Wore glasses) was incredibly attentive and went out of her way to make sure we were happy, even taking our order at the table for us! Deserts were lovely too. I’ve told my friends about this place and we’re planning to visit again when they’re over from Scotland. But will definitely dining with you guys before then. Thank you so much!

Came to southport with friends for an overnight stay, and found this pub on the same street. Lovely place with lovely people who welcomed us into their pub. Karaoke was in full swing when we got there. Lots of singing, dancing and laughter was had by all 100% recommended this little gem.

Great little find on way back to hotel , karaoke night , smashing karaoke host , and bar staff , served quickly despite being really busy, good chat with the landlady , and dave at the bar . Will Definatley be back

Thank you so much for saving Fathers Day....after a local well known restaurant chain cancelled our table at short notice we thought our family meal out would be cancelled. Cheshire Lines to the rescue they accomodated us 4 adults, 1 child. We all ordered Sunday roast. Wow! We all loved our food, Nothing was too much trouble for oliver who made sure we were all happy. Lovely touch offering free dessert to Daddy too. Welcoming atmosphere too. Glad to support local independent establishments rather than the corporate big guys from now on for us...we will definitely return to Cheshire Lines. ❤

In the past I have enjoyed my visits to the Cheshire Lines in Southport and would agree with many of the reviews listed over the last four years. I went there this evening (1st June 2023, 7:15pm) for a quiet drink in the “secret beer garden”. I was hoping to get something to eat but food finished at 7pm. Imagine my surprise/horror when I found that about 8:30pm I’d been locked in; someone had closed the fire door leading to the garden. I looked up phone numbers for the pub but they either didn’t exist or just kept ringing. Eventually by rattling the padlocked coach house doors at the front of the yard I was able to attract someone’s attention, who kindly came to my rescue. This episode tells me everything i need to know about the current CL management’s approach to customer service and welfare. I won’t be going again, you can make your own judgement.
