The Charterhouse Pub in Waverley

Extremely sad that this local pub has been forced to close. The staff were always lovely, the food good and beers nice. Hopefully they find somewhere new to showcase their talents. We came for a final drink to say goodbye.

I’ve been wanting to sample the steaks here for a while so we took an anniversary as a good excuse to walk down. Never been before as I was put off years ago by the previous bikers element (not the case anymore) We arrived 30 minutes late, oops!. Ribeye was amazing! Lamb was amazing! Very very well cooked. I look forward to returning as I’ve been looking for a good Godalming steak place for years!

We rang ahead to check availability, the phone was picked up promptly. Upon arrival we were expected and seated with orders taken in a timely manner. They accommodated a child opting not to have roast dinner. The meals were enjoyable, only issue was that cabbage was slightly burnt. Overall a good experience a nice little pub with great staff.

Went with some friends on a Friday evening. Never been inside before but driven past many times. Turned out the food was top-notch. All of us thought everything was really well cooked and presented. Service was great too - really friendly staff. I will definitely return.

Our friends came down from Oxford and we decided to try this pub for our evening out. We had fabulous food and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back 😊

This is a lovely local pub just on the outskirts of Godalming town centre. Lovely staff and selection of beers and ales. Food is great as well, especially steak night.

We have tried almost ever pub/restaurant in the area now. The Charterhouse is 100% the best choice for steak! Every time it has been perfect. 👌 The landlord is a legend, the chef is very good and always a friendly welcome/atmosphere (the pub dog is also very funny!). Thank you for all the great meals!

Delicious food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Brilliant! We had 4 adults, 2 toddlers and a baby and we were very comfortable for our Saturday lunch.

Arrived in a large party having booked months ahead and confirmed our arrival time and meal choices at least a week in advance. The food and staff were perfect and faultless. So was the pub dog. However the management decided to force us to leave because they had over-booked and under-prepared. Very disappointing, especially as I was looking forward to trying the chef's signature sticky toffee pudding.

Six of us visited on Mothers Day. Pub was fully booked & very busy. Despite being very busy, staff were friendly and attentive. Good choice of roasts on offer, our group had beef, pork and lamb, all were excellent in fact one of the best I’ve had. Will definitely return!

Wonderful family mother’s day lunch. A wonderful roast beautifully served. Meat just melted in mouth and roast potatoes were just like my mother used to make crisp on outside soft in middle. Superb

We came here on Saturday as a family of 3 . Really lovely lunch to very high standard , we had sea bass / lamb and enjoyed it very much , clearly a lot of time was taken to make it so nice . It’s quite pricey but you get what you pay for and worth it to have an enjoyable time . My daughter loved the visit from Archie the pub dog! Thanks will be back again very soon x

Had a starter of the halloumi fries and a lamb roast dinner and beer (s). The food was very tasty, very high quality and clearly a lot of time and effort has been put into the recipes and the presentation. The beer was also great, and the service impeccable.

Popped in here by chance for a Sunday roast and was amazed - very lucky to get a walk-in table, fantastic friendly service by all (special shout-out to our server Katie) and 10/10 food. Large gambas for starters were amazing followed by fantastic nut roasts (best crispy roast potatoes I’ve had from a pub). Would recommend if you are in the area (I hope we are again!)

Ordered fish and chips. Fish was lovely, hot and crispy however the chips were awful. tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. We had two beers and two glasses of wine. Disappointed that we were not give a wine list so had no idea of the price. The bill was £75.00 We thought that was really expensive

Great lunch Just before Christmas. A nice welcome on arrival. Nice menu. Delicious starters. I had a nice amazing Prawn dish with chilli! We both had the chicken pie which was really tasty. Attentive service, even chef checked food OK. I asked if an Irish Coffee was available. The owner heard my conversation and came over and he said its not on our beverage menu but I'm sure we can make one. Irish coffee was just right. Excellent lunch

Came out for a New Year’s Eve dinner. Excellent meal, great service. It’s a pub with a lovely atmosphere.

All in all a very pleasant experience, although some items were missing from the menu due to supply shortages our server confidently told us of missing items and substitutes. The pub dog Archie has his own bowtie and is very soft and fluffy, tends to curl up on the sofa unless called over for pets. We had lamb with tender-stem broccoli with dauphinoise potato’s which was honestly Devine. Well cooked tender and flavourful and the potatoes were fluffy and well balanced in flavour. Mac and cheese was great but could do with a little bit of crunch on top. For pudding we had sticky toffee pudding and honeycomb and salted caramel ice cream. Which by the way goes really well with sticky toffee.

We had one of the most exceptional Christmas lunches at the Charterhouse on the 25th. 3 beautifully crafted courses, some of the best beef I’ve ever had, and the most friendly and welcoming afternoon (through to evening…).

Best Pub in Surrey. Food is absolutely delightful. Hmmm yum scrummy! The entertainment they offer every weekend is out of this world for real. I would highly recommend to any friend, family or acquaintance.

What a fabulous Sunday lunch- all perfectly cooked , tasty and hot. You could tell it was all homemade including the gravy. Really nice atmosphere too- real mix of clientele from families, friends and couples. Dogs also welcomed. Will definitely be back.

A very welcome addition to the area. Excellent food and decent drinks, we plan on being regular visitors.

Live music - I saw a covers band called Alter Ego. The food looked good and seemed a popular place to go for dinner with locals. Friendly staff, although some of the drinkers got a bit leary towards closing time.
