The Chapel in Cheltenham

Kind of nice and cosy, drinks were decent, but customer service is a bit weird and inconsistent. Sometimes nice and sometimes a bit off. Came for coffee and sat for 10 minutes before I was forced to ask the waitress if she would clear the table from the last people. When she cleared it she didn’t wipe it down and all the crumbs were left on the table still. Lots of potential but needs sharpening up.

Very disappointed what shame go here alot. The owner is lovely went today bought 2 coffees and milkshake fir my granddaughter. Milkshake bit pricey £5. We were gonna have lunch/snack my granddaughter wanted egg sandwich was told breakfast was over? So they wouldn't cook a egg? The young girl serving aajed the manager he said no. I said do you di chips being chip shop next door. The girl said no. Wasn't offered any suggestions. What I found rude was the manager that was cooking sat outside vaping as he didn't have any customers to cook for. We decided to drink our drinks and leave. No thankyou no goodbye or sorry. Won't be going back what shame. When the owner worked so hard building business up

This little cafe is spotlessly clean. The food is excellent, well prepared, tasty and not a chip in sight I'm pleased to say. I have always found the staff to be friendly, effecient and very helpful. They have a little menu for the little ones. They cater for the gluten free diet. I cannot praise this friendly little cafe enough. It is small so it gets very busy around lunchtime. Perfect.

This cafe has the potential to be a great place - great location, dog friendly and nice interior. Nice cakes and hot drinks BUT the hygiene needs to be improved. Noticed on more than 1 occasion dodgy hand hygiene from staff. On last visit I observed 2 members of staff change the bins, one took it out to big bin outside and both carried on after preparing food and drinks. For this reason I will not return.

Rude and unprofessional service. It's like whoever was working that day hates being there and is doing her upmost to push customers away. Avoid unless you want to spend money on a miserable service.

The lady who runs this is terribly rude with no customer service skills. My daughter was turned away from being served with 9 of her girl friends. They only wanted to have a drink after they had broke up from school. They weren’t even allowed to sit outside on the benches(which weren’t occupied at the time) and told to go to the chip shop next door. There is also a way of speaking to customers which she can’t do.

This is not very good they used bad language.towards us.We are only kids not happy about this. Definitely not returning

The food is nice enough, the place is ok, nothing special but nice enough. I just find that the staff can sometimes be a bit frosty,not overly happy to see you,especially if you take children in. It's just a feeling I get. It's ok though overall,just not somewhere I want to go on a regular basis. Food is always tasty and hot.

We love the Chapel coffee shop. We are always made welcome even with the amount of dogs we bring in with us. Very friendly staff who go out of their way to make us comfortable. Always enjoy our food and coffees. Wonderfully managed by the lovely Trace. Definitely recommend a visit.

I don't know how you say such nasty lies about the chapel, are you jealous? You probably didn't see me sat in the corner because you were obviously so intent on making up lies about people you don't know. And i say this as I am a very regular customer here and know the staff very well and they are always polite and very friendly, also you say that youve been going there for years.... I have never seen you and all I can say is this. The women you were with are obviously scared and embarrassed of you, judging by the way they said nothing until you left, at which point they apologised for you. Over all these observations show exactly what sort of person you are and the fact that your comments mean nothing.

I felt I had to add my opinion on the review put on about the member of staff being rude. My husband and I have been going here now for quite a few years and maybe up to four times a week. We have never found any of the staff rude, they cannot do enough for us and we enjoy every visit, anyone reading this don't be put off about unfriendly and rude staff, this is definately not true, its a lovely welcoming coffee shop and if you visit you will find this out too.

This is one of the nicest cafe’s around. Tracy the manager is super friendly & helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Delicious food & cakes. Dog friendly. Great for a quick coffee & cake but also great for a leisurely lunch. Would definitely recommend.

We are so glad the Chapel is back open again, as we have been regular customers for years. We had a great breakfast on Saturday, lovely friendly service from Tracy and Erika as usual. We will be back again very soon.

Lovely manager but absolutely terrible customer service from one of the members of staff. We arrived as a party of 6 to sit outside on a bench. One of us was heavily pregnant and another was elderly and disabled in a wheelchair, so we were obviously being considerate of social distancing measures. However, we were instantly treated as a nuisance by this one member of staff with lots of tutting and comments about us moving out the way as we were trying to configure the bench and wheelchair - she demanded for us all to sit down and was rude when we asked for napkins. She made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. We spent around £40 on food and drinks and bought a portion of chips from next door. Upon starting to eat she came back again and told us rudely we were not to eat the chips there. A couple of us had to stand on the pavement outside to eat the chips while everyone else sat at the table eating. She was rude from beginning to end and unfortunately we shall not be returning, even though we’ve been going there for years. I wouldn’t recommend going here, there are lots of other friendly cafes around who would actually appreciate your custom.

This lovely little coffee shop is such a warm welcoming place to visit. The staff are so friendly and make each visit a pleasure. My husband and I visit nearly every day and always enjoy it.

I have given a 3 more for the potential than my experience.This could be a great little cafe, decor is great & the cafe is dog friendly.However, my daughter & I both had a tuna panini, could have done with longer on the toaster, the tuna filling was on the sloppy side, so the surrounding bread was claggy & soggy, as someone who works in catering, I can tell you a great tuna (or any flavour panini) will have cheese in to start, the tuna would have benefited from being a bit drier with some peppers or red onion added.I had some coffee cake, didn't taste much of coffee & had wither been frozen (most likely) or on display too long as it was quite dry & grainy especially at the edges.I ordered a latte, the foam on a latte should be the width of a teaspoon neck - it was at least double.These things are all easily fixable, improve the quality of whats on offer & it should thrive

Finally got around to giving this place a go since it was converted from the sports shop. Lovely ambiance. Good food. Friendly staff. Well worth it

Was looking forward to trying this coffee shop out but didn't find nice home made cakes there and the coffee wasn't great, was hoping coffee would be as nice as costa but sadly not.bit of a odd shop

Stopped off while walking dog on very sunny, warm day. Great tea and caramel shortbread. They even got some water for my dog. Will certainly be back to try some of the other tasty looking cakes. If visting the area for local retail shops leave them behind and the mass chain coffee houses. Try this local cafe instead.

Having lived around the area for all my life I was really pleasantly surprised to find this had replaced the old shop there. The coffee and cakes are lovely and it is much quieter and relaxing than going into the busy chain coffee shops up by the retail park, also great if you have elderly parents/ grandparents as depending on the time of day it's easier to park at the front and is much quieter and more suitable. Lovely little place!

If you are in the area visiting the shops on the retail park it is well worth leaving the cafes and chain coffee shops on offer and making your way to the Chapel café. The décor is restful and comfortable and the coffee is excellent. The cakes and other tasty bites will please the palate. An great place to meet friends. There are papers and magazines to read while taking a rest. If don't have time to stop you can pay and go with coffee and a treat..
