Brasserie Blanc in Cheltenham

I remember when this place opened and the food was a decent standard. Sunday lunch was terrible. Unlimited roasties, yorskshire and gravy but why bother when the roast potatoes are microwaved and the Yorkshire puddings taste like cardboard. The gravy comes in a tiny jug and it is tiresome to keep asking for more when staff aren’t present, the whole meal was so dry it would take a gallon to make it edible. Cauliflower cheese was the driest I have ever tasted and the cabbage had grit in it. The beef was meagre and the chicken was bland and mostly just a leg. If that was half a roast chicken it was the smallest I have seen. How can half a roast chicken not have any breast meat? Nothing positive about the main. The puddings were ok but why no alternative but vegan custard which tastes synthetic - this is supposed to be a French brasserie so why the need to pander to veganism? No doubt because it’s cheaper. The setting is nice but we won’t be returning.

The steak was nit good and dryed out and the restourant atmosphere was bad

I am sorry to give just 2 stars but really don’t feel it warrants more. The welcome into the restaurant was warm and friendly, the decor of the building itself liked good and had a certain grandeur. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and polite. We were walk in customers, and shown to our table. This is where it started to go wrong in our opinion. The tables felt of poor quality and were not that stable - not wobbly due to floor- just not very sturdy. Even worse, the tables were set really close together, at this point we were almost the only ones in so it wasn’t an issue. The menu had a good choice, and we chose the duck and the pork ribeye along with a Merlot. The food was hot, but the pork ribeye lacked seasoning and flavour, the jus seemed more like water with some pork juices in it rather than anything else. The food was edible and cooked but, I’m sorry to say was nowhere near what I expected from the name above the door. My wife’s duck was similar- the carrots overly salty but not any flavour for the rest. The glass of Merlot was good. During the meal, more customers were seated and whilst I appreciate that the restaurant was getting busy, to start with, we were all sat in the same area and this is where the closeness of the tables really detracted from what should be more fine dining experience than it is. If I had stretched out an arm I could have touched the person at the next table- a downside of having a long bench seating system? We could hear their every word in conversation and they were not talking loudly. When the waiter served them, the gap between tables so narrow that my wife pretty much had his arse in her face whilst eating (not the waiters fault on this). Really didn’t live upto any expectation here. The toilets themselves: The room was good and nice hand soap, but the cubicle had a lock missing and the backs of the doors needed a repaint. Apparently the ladies cubicle doors were in the same need of a paint. We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant for my wife’s Birthday, but sadly will not be returning. We have had better quality food at supposedly lesser establishments and eaten in far more spacious surroundings with food quality way in excess of this. I hope it was just a poor day, having seen many of the other reviews; but was not the quality we were looking for or expecting

I have just enjoyed the most perfect lunch here today. Service was above and beyond, thank you Will and Camila! I couldn’t recommend highly enough.

The service levels continue to go down at a steady pace. There is not enough staff to serve the customers demand neither in the bar nor in the restaurant. A real shame.

First time in a Brasserie Blanc so wasn’t that sure what to expect, but we had a great evening. Atmosphere was fantastic, food was spot on and service was great. Not much more to say really

Of the five of us; 3 were vegetarian, 1 vegan and the 5th ate vegetarian. We had three course and all of us thought the food excellent for each course. I did think the red wine was over priced for the quality. My colleagues had never been to BB before and all were favourable impressed.

Food is ok but nothing really that fantastic. The beef iwas prefectly grilled, the chicken was on the other had very dry. Clams lacked seasoning and there was very little broth. The fish (sea bass?) was good. Service missed one or two things that should have been taken care of before us asking.

Great Gold Cup Breakfast and our waiter was excellent, unfortunately I can't remember his name but he was teetotal.

Absolutely excellent all around, very rare to get every course spot on, but here they succeeded, steak was cooked to perfection even with my awkward requests, gem of a place with attentive service

My first visit and the quality exceeded my expectations, which were high! Superb confit duck leg for main course and an unforgettable pistachio soufflé for dessert. A little more expensive than most restaurants but undoubtedly worth it; I'd much rather dine here once than any mid-priced restaurant twice. Highly recommended.

A great restaurant in the heart of town near the ferris wheel. As you would expect great food and service. You won’t get in without booking. Will definitely return.

First time we tried Brasserie Blanc as we had mixed recommendations. Food was tasty. Starters we had game terrine and prawn cocktail. The mains were well portioned and delicious. We had lamb roulade and sirloin. Didn’t have space for dessert. Our waitress Karoline was very attentive and looked after us very well, even with it being packed. We will definitely be visiting again. Thanks for a lovely evening

Yet again a wonderful meal in the restaurant at lunchtime. Very polite and attentive staff and excellent food. Two of us had moules and trout as main courses and they were delicious., I have been here many times over the years and have never been letdown on either service or quality of food.,looking forward to next visit.

I like this place, it had a certain feel about it, which was formal, yet, informal and relaxing. As illustrated by the bar man placing a napkin under the feed of a punter, who had decided that it was ok to put his feet up on an expensive chair. The line that came with this was was that it was a £1 to clean the napkin but £300 to clean the chair - well done to the bar man .

Had a lovely lunch here. We were made to feel most welcome and the staff were cheerful and very pleasant. The food was delicious and very well presented, with perfect timing between the courses. Thank you Brasserie Blanc!

Delicious brassiere food - all the favourites without silly bells or whistles just super tasty and generous. Excellent service from a highy proficient and professional team. Much better value than The Ivy or Cote.

Visited during our short stay in Cheltenham. Excellent buzzy place. Great staff, quick service. Very impressed. By far, it is the best of the three restaurants we went to in Cheltenham.

Have to admit this is one of our favourite restaurants and went for a late Sunday lunch today it was amazing staff so attentive even though very busy the food was fabulous my wife enjoyed cheese souffle followed by roast beef although the beetroot doesn't really go with a roast dinner . I had the wonderful mushrooms as a starter followed by the amazing trout and have to admit I love beetroot so took that from my wife's plate and loved it .pistachio souffle and apple and blackberry crumble completed our delicious meal thankyou once again for an amazing time you never disappoint we will be back highly recommend this restaurant 👌 😀

We ate with you for valentines and it was honestly so special. From the super friendly and efficient service from Alex to the amazing food, it was all round a perfect night for my partner and myself. Although we aren’t from the area I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! Thank you!

We have dined at Brasserie Blank using our virgin experience voucher dine for two 3 course meal with glass of wine. The menu have a variety of choices, but you can choose from normal menu and pay the difference. We ate cheese suffle, mushrooms both very tasty, ribeye pork and celeriac steak, which were delicious and celeriac had a really interesting taste. For dessert we had chocolate mousse with sour compote cherries. All was great including the service, politeness of staff and ease of booking the table and prior information given. Would definitely recommend!

Everything was above expectations. Went with a dog and had a reserved spot in the bar area which is nice and bright. Compared to a lot of places in the Cotswolds, Sunday roasts were an absolute bargain at £20 / £25 for 2 courses. Really good beef and excellent bottomless roasties! Service friendly and attentive, look forward to returning.

Quiet attentive service and an excellent meal, including splendid vegetarian choices - which made choosing difficult. Decent wine but a bit pricey for the variety. Pleasant surroundings with enough space between tables. (NB Avoid tables near the big windows in cold, windy weather!) Great evening.

Reading the other reviews I think we may have come on an ‘off’ day. Crayfish cocktail was small and accompanied by last week’s lettuce - limp and tasteless. The lamb roulade was also disappointing and lacking in flavour. Not at all what we have experienced...

Went for the NYE dinner. Fabulous evening. The food was delicious, with the exception of the gnocchi dish that disappointed. However, after pointing this out, the cost was removed from the bill. We had a super evening otherwise and would definitely return.

As a New Year's treat, we availed ourselves of this very pleasant restaurant. The menu was interesting with enough to tempt most palettes. The food of course was to a very high standard and was quite delicious. They were more than happy, to inter change aspects of the menu for members of our party with more particular tastes. Overall, a very enjoyable experience at a very reasonable price point.

My partner and I had booked to come for lunch for our 10-year anniversary a week ago. I had eaten with you previously and recommended for us to go! The food seemed nice and although the staff were busy, they were friendly enough. However, about 4 hours after leaving, my partner began to violently throw up and also suffered with diarrhoea and hot and cold chills too. It was an incredibly unpleasant experience. He felt absolutely fine before and during the meal and then suddenly went down hill. He had the Mussels to start and the Lamb Roulade for main with a non-alcoholic cocktail. We spoke to an out of hours GP at the time who concluded it sounded like Shellfish food poisoning and were lucky his response wasn’t more severe. I rang to speak to the manager, essentially to say please don't serve anyone else the mussels dish as he had been suddenly ill. She didn’t seem to want to know and tried to say that food poisoning only occurs after 24 hours of eating the food - which is complete rubbish! She also said that nobody else had reported suffering with any illnesses so it couldn’t possibly be food poisoning! Quite frankly it was a very poor exchange and no refund/compensation was offered. It was a special day that was ruined and we had to cancel the rest of our arrangements for that afternoon and evening. It was incredibly disappointing and for the manager to deflect any responsibility was just awful. No apology or sincerity. Emailed head office too with no response. Waste of £82.

Had a fantastic meal here for 6 on the 27th Dec — the day after Boxing Day, and the restaurant was busy. The menu selection had me spoilt for choice, and each course was served for all 6 at once, and arrived promptly. The food was delicious, so much so, that we were tasting each-other's dishes. And the service was efficient, professional and courteous — so much so, we gave our waitress an extra £20 on top of the well-deserved service charge. This is all not an easy feat to achieve, all the more so during the holiday season. So well done and thank you — highly recommended.

I attended for a meal with a friend. It was quite busy so not a lot of space but when seated it was okay. We ordered drinks, I had the wrong drink brought out to me. My friend had an allergy and they were good at checking if the food she ordered had that in. However my food arrived 5 minutes before my friends arrived meaning it was cold when I came to eat it. When we came to pay they had added gratuity to the bill already and we didn't have a choice on whether we wanted to pay it (probably would have given a tip but would have been nice to have the option).

Always relaxed environment with delicious food and friendly staff.

Our party of 7 enjoyed the atmosphere and service overall was very good. However with regard to the food, the stone bass was quite dry, and the lamb meal was tasty but minimal - if you're hungry this is not the best solution. Same goes for the creme brulee, which is no more than 1cm deep! In summary, this place is good on atmosphere but less so on food quality and quantity.

Always a good meal, staff are so attentive without being overbearing, atmosphere always very pleasant , a definite recommendation for an all round good experience.

It’s a testament to the quality of food and value for money that this restaurant is at least 80% full on a Monday evening. So well run you are never far away from your next course or drink. A pleasure to dine here - the main was delicious - Toulouse Sausages, sage & onion mash, Lyonnaise sauce and crispy shallot.

Another lovely evening at BB Cheltenham, thank you! The mussels were delicious as was the chalkstream trout. We are never disappointed with the level of service and quality of ingredients and preparation/cooking that you provide. The house red was very drinkable and good value. Thanks again!

Wholeheartedly recommended. The greeting at the front desk was not warm but the table service was great. The atmosphere was lively with a real welcoming vibe. The food was fabulous. We were on an experience voucher, so we thought the menu might disappoint but it certainly didn’t. The pistachio soufflé was amazing! Will be back for more! (Sorry BB - I posted this when it was incomplete, so now it’s edited).

Vegetarian mushroom gnocchi was a main but tiny portion of gnocchi, very disappointing considering the meat dishes were a better balance of ingredients.

Poor quality food and very expensive. I do not recommend this place. Really poor table service. The strawberry dessert was a sweet soft mush of over powering sweetness. No options for vegetarian the items were not available, had to pay for a few pieces of bread to accompany a really small tasteless fishcake which arrived with nothing else for a main course . Really not good enough. Maybe the so called chef should have been concentrating on the cooking rather then talking on her mobile. What hygiene. Won't be back.

Such a beautiful place with wonderful friendly staff. I’m not surprised my friends had come here for dinner 3 days in a row to try all their veggie dishes! We very much enjoyed the cheese soufflé and dessert soufflé! Definitely worth eating again when I next visit. The lamb roulade was delicious though I did have food envy with the tasty trout. Keep up the amazing work!

Visited as part of a group of eleven for a special occasion so we were asked to submit food choices beforehand. As I am Coeliac I emailed asking for advice on gluten free options and was told to look at the menu on the website and choose from the gluten free options, which I did. On arrival I was told that neither of my choices, main course or dessert, were gluten free as they may contain gluten. I was therefore left with a one choice of a main course and ice cream or sorbet for dessert. It was a very disappointing and unsatisfactory situation.

Splendid service today at Sunday lunch. Courteous and attentive staff, super efficient service and absolutely top notch food. The roast beef today was simply decisions and the sponge pudding with marmalade and cointreau infused sauce was, I have to say, perfect. Monsieur Blanc himself would have been very pleased with the qualitative standard and cuisine at today's service. Compliments to all, from front of house and table staff right through to chef's line and kitchen staff. Formidable!

Visiting Cheltenham decided to go to brasserie blanc because of reviews, however reality didn't reach expectations. King scallop starter, one scallop sliced into four pieces, extremely small portion. Sea bream cooked very well, but garnish not what was stated on menu. Dessert, orange sponge with sauce, heated in microwave. Bottles of water on table, expected it to be complimentary, but wasn't £10 for two bottles. Will visit Cheltenham again but avoid brasserie blanc at all cost. Over priced for underwhelming food. Be warned.

We had dinner at the restaurant during our stay in Cheltenham in August. This was the best meal I have had for a long time. The chefs are at the top of the game and dinner was superb. If you enjoy great food this is where you go to eat.

We always enjoy our meals at Brasserie Blanc. We went today for my birthday and had free glasses of prosecco and the usual excellent food. Special shout out to Ben who is amazing at his job and helps to make our visits even better - special thank you for the complimentary birthday ice cream and the candle, such a lovely and thoughtful touch. We arrived 9pm on a Tuesday and the whole meal then felt like it was rushed through. Mains followed starters without a break and we had to order coffee along side dessert .. as it was easier. Watching chairs go up on tables as we ate was not conducive to a relaxed intimate atmosphere. If you are allowed to book a table that late then service should continue as if the table had been booked at 6.30. Service however was polite .

I recently dined at Brasserie Blanc in Cheltenham and had a nice experience. The food was consistently of a good standard, impressing me with its flavors and presentation. The waiting staff were not only attentive but also added a delightful touch of humor, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. What particularly stood out was the balance between the quality of the food and the prices; they were on par with each other, offering a value for the experience. Recommend for a dining experience in Cheltenham.

Mediocre food, was not expensive but very lack lustre. We ate in the Leeds brasserie pre-covid and it was a much better experience.

Top drawer service and decent food made for good evening with friends.

Met old friends there at 5pm and were the last to leave way past closing time. The staff were incredible. Efficient, accommodating and friendly. Never rushing us when the menu was clearly secondary to our chatting. Food is always good at any Brasserie Blanc and will definitely be enjoying more meals here when we return to Cheltenham.

Both waiters and bartenders are outstandingly polite and respectful and the drink and food quality was excellent.

We stopped off in Cheltenham last night And popped into the restaurant. We are sadly disappointed with the service and the food we received, veg was brown chips so dry we did not eat any of them! chateaubriand was ok We will not be returning soon🙁 even the waiter could see what the food was like and with out saying a word he gave us 20 % off and cancelled the vegetables on the bill
