To be honest it was a nice meal it was Sunday roast and a Birthday celebration. Should be an option for the red cabbage and cauliflower cheese as some of our group disliked it Tables could have been spaced out better as it seemed cramped But the staff and service were excellent and atmosphere was good Would certainly go again as a couple

Couldn't fault the food, it was excellent. I had creamy garlic mushrooms for starter and steak for main from the Wine and Dine menu Big thank you to the staff who were very attentive, friendly and professional Would recommend

First visit here today...very quiet when we arrived. We were shown to our table and told that the waitress would come and take our drinks order....Sat for 15 minutes in a very quiet room...no- one came back to us. We decided to leave. We passed the staff member on our way out...didn't even ask if we were OK?

Great food with lots of choice.

Went here planning to have the set meal but chose to eat off the menu instead. It's nice and spacious inside. Food was served in good time and it was tasty. Portion sizes were just right and the service was everything we expected.

Smashing food, staff very nice and helpful, background music at a pleasant level not obscuring the flow of conversation or isolating the hard of hearing.

We only intended calling in for a drink after buying a new car. However the manager offered us a table and a menu to browse whilst he got our drinks. So glad he did, I had steak and my wife had a chicken dish. We both enjoyed our meals that much we decided a pud was in order. Excellent service, food and ambiance. Highly recommended might nip in next week after picking the new car up 👍

Our favourite place to eat in the area. Always delicious food and great menu variety. Our only minor complaint is if you're there a bit later in the evening staff will start packing up around you which can ruin the atmosphere

Great place adjacent to a golf course.

Awful Christmas Dinner today. So disappointed. £240 to be seated in a conservatory near a fire exit on Christmas day. I did ask to move tables but it wasn't possible. Food was not great at all, very basic roast with 2 roast potatoes, one carrot, one parsnip and lacked so much. Last year we paid the same to go to glasfryn and I have to say that was a completely different level of Christmas day service. Never again, really disappointed.

Lovely restaurant and the staff were attentive and pleasant but the meal was slightly disappointing. The prawn cocktail consisted of far to much lettuce and very few prawns, the roast turkey dinner was very tasty but no stuffing also lacking in veg, with two potatoes, four sugar snaps and a tiny piece of cauliflower I was still hungry, the plate was dominated by a huge Yorkshire pudding!

Works lunchtime Christmas meal. Choices for each of the 3 courses and very organised. Service like clockwork.

Really nice looking place, with friendly staff. Had Sunday lunch nicely cooked meat, but why put the meat on top of crispy roast potatoes which makes them soggy. The food was barely warm.

Opposite Northop Golf Club close to A55. This restaurant is situated in a charming rural location, boasting an appealing ambiance and a variety of seating options, including outdoor seating. The decor is particularly noteworthy, earning a perfect 10/10. However, when it comes to the food and service, we would rate it 4/5. The pastry on the steak and ale pies was slightly tough, and the filling could have been more generous. On the other hand, the butternut squash nut roast was delightful, although the portion size was relatively small. The desserts were delicious. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, we had expected a higher level of personalised service from the staff. We will be back 👍

What's happened? The restaurant was our go-to for family parties, I had my 70th there amongst others. He food was great and service very great. I've been twice in recent months with a group of friends for lunch and both the service and food have been a little disappointing.

Everything was great, except for allowing dogs, no offence to dogs, only I'm allergic.

Came here for Sunday lunch. They accommodated a group of 13 at short notice and the food was good.

Family gathering . Very welcoming staff Good service. Not very busy on this occasion so we had the conservatory to ourselves which was great. Main courses were very good. Sticky toffee pudding was also good so I was told. I had cheesecake which was very disappointing so have taken off a star for that. Would definitely visit again but next time I'll have the sticky toffee pudding 🙂

Dropped into for birthday meal with in-laws wife and kids. The roast dinner are to die for. The carrot and ginger soup was really nice also. The staff were excellent, will 100% be added to the revisit list.

We called mid week we hadn’t booked a table and got seated immediately. Friendly and efficient staff. The food was very tasty. Would highly recommend a visit.

Sadly our steaks were cold taken back to kitchen not much difference when they returned. Shame. Cauliflower and Stilton soup not to my brother in laws taste and Masaman curry more like ratatouille came minus the spring roll which was minute when we asked for it and arrived half way through the meal. Tiramasu not to my mother's taste so all in all a dissapointing meal won't be rushing back. Couldn't fault waiting on staff.

Lovely food, service a tad slow but the food was worth it and plus we visited when it was busy with no booking so that's fair enough. Will absolutely visit again.

Family Sunday lunch, food was very good had the pink roast beef it was lovely and tender. Service was excellent and would recommend this place. Will return in the future.

Phoned to book a table for the evening, very professional on phone. when we arrived we were greeted at the door and taken straight to our table, drinks order take and arrived quickly. I ordered the sirloin and the wife had sea bass which arrived within 10 minute. We must say this is one of the best Sunday lunches we have had,good portion sizes. Would highly recommend

Came here for a funeral wake. The room hired upstairs was lovely, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The food provided for the buffet was beautiful and fresh. All in all a fantastic place and hidden gem

Very nice place with excellent food. Great service and fair prices. You will pay here for a gourmet dish that in big cities you will pay surely more than double. Lot of parking and we had no issue to find a table for lunch even without booking. We stopped on our way back home from the beach but we will surely come back on our next trip.

Went here with a few mates to celebrate. The room we were in was long and was a bit of a struggle to get in and out of your seat especially when you haven't seen your mate in a while. We had to order in advance which was odd as I don't know what I want till the night like. Must of decided to have the pie because that's what arrived, was good mind you just not outstanding like the beer prices would have you believe. But the weird part was one of the waitresses must have been put up to some joke or something as she kept talking in a deep voice like she was taking the mickey mouse out of us lot, I know we aren't that prim and proper but we didn't expect a comedian. I know we are a bit rowdy like but felt a little uncomfortable getting merked on like that.

We have had meals at the Celtic Arms on many occasions and it has always been fine. The last couple of bookings we have made for Sunday lunch and both times it has been quite frankly awful. We thought we were just unlucky the first time in June.. there was a largish party with rather loud voices and noisy children and we couldn’t hear ourselves think let alone speak to each other.There was a long..very long wait for our food to arrive and as there was a skin on my sauce for the sea bass I think it had been sitting for a fair while. Anyway today..we decided to give it another try..oh dear!!..the noise level was even higher and the screeching laughter of another largish party was deafening. I couldn’t hear a word my husband was saying..nor hear what the waitress was saying when taking our order. To be fair the food was good apart from the belly pork bites which were tiny..burnt and there were only four!! I appreciate the staff cannot do much about exceedingly noisy customers but a pleasant Sunday lunch it definitely was not. We will go to our other favourite restaurant next time which although probably the food isn’t as good as the Celtic..we won’t leave with headaches.. and will be able to speak to each other without shouting.

Had the Chateaubriand & it was excellent, cooked to perfection. They'd sold out of my first two desert choices so went for the passion fruit crème brûlée which was also delicious. Staff were very attentive & helpful & will definitely be returning.

It's ok, we went on a family get together and it was nice for all the family to meet up.

I put a bad review on here a while ago about having bad service, when we took our 2 grandchildren, but we visited again about two weeks ago and the service was excellent everything was perfect we all had a lovely time thanks to all the staff and definitely will be back

Never a bad meal. Attentive staff

I had my 50th birthday here last week, organised by my partner. The room was amazing, a large C shape with doors leading to the terrace. Relaxed comfortable seating along with several round tables of 10. There is also a dance floor. We chose to have the buffet on it as the gathering was during the day time. The food was classic but very well turned out, thoroughly enjoyed by all. There is a lift so access for all. On the terrace there are wooden stairs leading to the lower ground and garden where there os a wooden play area. Highly recommend 😁

Disappointed with the quality of the food. Previous visits have been excellent however, the food quality was not great this time Bean casserole with the sea bass was claggy. Lasagne was greasy. Pork belly was under seasoned. Staff were great.

Lovely warm welcome at the Celtic Arms. We ate outside in the garden had a light lunch and it was lovely. All of the staff were very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Great relaxed atmosphere in a lovely setting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Originally from the UK but now living in USA. Today was my birthday. My wife decided we would go out and had looked up restaurants close to where we were staying so we could have a nice birthday meal. We were greeted and seated and got our drinks...the server came over and asked if we were ready to order and we asked for a couple of minutes...well she never came back, I did try and catch her attention at the next table but she briefly looked our way and disappeared again. A gentleman appeared from The kitchen delivered the food to the next table and then asked if we would like to order which obviously we did as we had been waiting a while. The fish and chips was great. We then asked another server if we could have the dessert menu...well we waited and waited a little longer but she didn't return. We got up paid and then told the girl behind the bar we would have had dessert but we have had enough. We were really looking forward to having a nice birthday meal but the service sucked.

Well oiled team who took care of us after a funeral. Highly recommended.

Just a few drinks here nice place

First time there was very clean tidy pub, atmosphere was good staff are very polite and the service was excellent. Had the roast dinner very nice, but could do with more roast potatoes on the dinner over all. Good place to take family or even just your wife/girlfriend for a meal.

Food and service was excellent. Mushrooms on toast, scampi with chowder, roast lamb, beef and pork were all well presented and delicious. Will definitely return for a roast dinner

Very disappointed portion sizes on main courses ridiculously small service average. Staff knew they had messed up offered us a 20% discount on the bill with no quibble. Was supposed to be a birthday treat would definitely not return better places to eat locally.

Have always had a nice meal here but went for lunch today and had the prawn cocktail sandwich which I’ve had many times before and it’s been lovely . However the spice they used today to garnish it was very hot and took away the taste of the prawns !! I was very disappointed 😔

Having visited The Celtic Arms sister pub on a number of occasions, and even attending a wedding there, we knew we wanted to try here on our next visit to Wales, especially with it only being a small detour for us! Reading the review below,...

Stunning place, delicious food and really lovely staff.

The service was particularly inept and unprofessional The food was mediocre at best. The menu has delusions of grandeur but fails to deliver at every point. Ok if you want something very simple with chips.. Find an alternative venue

Great food, great service. We were there when there was a loud birthday table so couldn't really give 5 stars for atmosphere, but on previous occasions it has been very good

I went for a meal for my friends 50th birthday on the 10th March.I can honestly say the staff were not at all customer friendly,we were given a table in a narrow area which was not at all accessible by the waiting on staff so we were asked to pass the food along the table to the person it was for. I ordered rump steak with side salad instead of chips,my meal came with chips so I sent them back my side salad came about 10 mins later consisting of just lettuce, then a member of staff came and shouted from the end of the table for us to pass any empty glasses to be sent up to her,surely we should of been seated in an area where the staff could actually get around the table,and then after paying the bill my friend was told she still owed them money only to find that they actually owed her money back. I certainly will not be going back and recommend that anybody thinking of going there to go somewhere else. The Celtic Arms would of got zero stars but to post my review I had to give 1 star.

Came for lunch before heading to an event at the golf club facing.we had a lovely three course meal the home made pea and ham soup was delicious a nice Main Roast Pork my husband had the honey roast ham and then a lovely refreshing sobet .the staff were friendlly and helpfull a good service even though very busy didnt have long between courses to wait.and set prices good value .will recommend highly.

We are regulars at this fabulous hotel and have just held my husband's big birthday in the suite upstairs. A huge shout out to Jane Andrews and all the bar staff for attending to our every need and a big thank you to the chef...

Food average/didn't really taste of much and probably one of the most expensive meals I've had in the area. Half standard pub food, half trying to do something a bit fancier but not really getting it right. Service very slow but that suited us because we were out for a family catch up. We split the bill, paid £30 added service charge and then were told told that there was 45p outstanding on the bill which was pretty crazy. Worth saying that our waitress was very lovely.

6 of us ate here for my Birthday on 2nd January 3 course menu including a drink - £21.95. Excellent. Only thing better than the food quality was the quality of service from the staff. First class
