We always pop in when visiting the area as the gluten free food for our coeliacs in the family is never disappointing. Cannot grumble with the pricing and 1 in 1 out to order food then collect at side door means less conjestion too.

Very tasty chips topped off with mushy peas -(it’s the law) well in my house it is ! Freshly cooked prompt friendly service. Beware of the seagulls ,we witnessed one brazen bird drag a full box of fish and chips away from a poor chap who had just put it down , fair play to the member of staff who came out and offered to replace the meal - very nice to see such customer care

We bought 3 cod and 1 haddock but only wanted two portions of chips, to save wastage, I heard a member of staff shout " only two portions of chips they've saved a fortune" - on collection I pointed out I heard that rude and obnoxious member of staff, perhaps they could bear in mind customers can hear them, or perhaps I was meant to hear. We have had food from here before and it was lovely, this time the chips were awful, possibly re-heated from yesterday, couldn't eat them, the haddock was tiny and dripping in grease, at a cost of £8.00, the cod wasn't much better, such a shame no idea why it's gone down hill so fast, avoid at all costs. How can a fish and chip shop whose back door opens onto the quayside for the fishing boats, serve such poor quality food at such an over inflated price.

I have to admit that we've missed out not eating here since it 1st opened. Our initial 2 visits within a month of opening were not good alas. The management response was equally as bad. However. On visiting tonight as Emiles is no more what a real pleasant surprise. Very very tasty chips. Brilliant. The curry sauce is almost as good as the one we make at home. Its that good. The app is fantastic so no waiting around or getting there and run out of what you want. Easily by far and away the best chippy in SE Cornwall. Such shame we took so long to come back. But will now be a regular customer.

Went here on a Saturday evening as all their fish dishes are gluten free. Very careful covid precautions taken, you order at a cash desk, wear a mask and pay a girl behind a screen. Then wait in a socially distance queue outside waiting for your number to be called. There was no haddock so I had cod which was very fresh and a good portion. I found the chips a bit heavy, I would have preferred fewer and crispier. Mushy peas were ok, nothing special. The meal was fine but have had better. The covid precautions were very good..

Ordered my food and was given a receipt to collect the order from the other side. Wasn’t asked once if I wanted salt and vinegar on my food and so therefore assumed that they would do this for me automatically. Only to get home and find out that they hadn’t. I was staying in a holiday lodge with no access to this which was even more frustrating. Very average chips. Horrible fish cake which came battered which I found bizarre. Expected a sea front fish and chips to be of much better quality but I have fish n chip shops that do much better quality food In my home city.

You can’t go in. You order from the old front door and wait to be told that your order can be collected around the corner from the door nearest the river. You can apparently eat outside although the former arrangement of open tables no longer operates as before. There is a slightly clinical feel to the food and wrappings that you collect. Surely they could be a bit more friendly and welcoming/grateful for the trade. Surely there is a way of brightening up the process and hospitality here and elsewhere so that it could soften the deal and make the mealtime more enjoyable?

Waited a while for our fish and chips and there was only 1 person in front of us ! People who came after us got served there food before us ! Very disappointed as we had read the reviews before going here - the batter on the fish was rock hard and the fish was really dry - chips weren’t too bad but again dry and some were hard , I have had much better fish and chips from my local chippie ! I really thought seeing as the fish is caught fresh and sold there it would have tasted so much better than it did ( I actually didn’t eat it as after trying to negotiate the extremely hard batter on the fish , taking the batter off to find the fish as dry and tasteless, wasn’t worth eating it )

I ordered 2 gluten free portions of chips for my partner and kids. The chips were vile!!!! Utterly vile. Like the cheapo kind of frozen chips you’d expect from an extra budget supermarket.. not sure what the rave reviews are referring to?? The texture was like chewy cardboard and the aftertaste was like a stale musky taste..? Tasted nothing like chip shop chips that’s for sure. And to top it off, the amount of salt used was way over the top!! I’ll be fair and consider maybe I’ve “caught” them on an off day, maybe it was bad/unchanged oil or maybe they have a seperate batch for gluten free or something but definitely not anywhere close to good.... I had half a chip and couldn’t finish it- it was that bad. Bad enough that I felt the need to write this review. Hopefully they fix the issue!

Freshly cooked, and very thick white tasty fish inside a non greasy batter.Chips were delicious too. All piping hot and served in polystyrene boxes, which kept the food hot for ages. Sat on beach to eat them. Pity there are no picnic type benches around by The Catch for people to eat their food though.Very good Covid 19 safety measures in place. Visited last week for our most recent visit and no trip to looe is complete without a visit to the catch. I rang up 20 minutes before we wanted to pick up the order so we could casually walk back from the beach. Got in to the main area where you place your order and pay and was told without a smile that once Ive paid I needed to go back outside and around the corner. No would I like sauces or drinks etc which we normally get asked and every small amount of money for extras can add up too so lost revenue. The fish and chips portions were perfect especially on the large side for a childrens portion. But drinks now not included in the meal like they used to be last year? When did this change? Still value for money but would have preferred to have known before hand if honest. Will the service without a smile stop me coming back. No, as we know the quality of the fish and chips and value is great and have been many times in the last few years. However for new visitors it may well put them off as we all want to be treated like our custom is wanted or valued. (especially with covid and new measures in the world)

Have been coming to looe for holidays since I was little,, now in my 30s I get the privilege to take my young daughter to holiday in looe. I love the Catch fish and chip shop because it’s right in the heart of looe and to sit outside in the evening when the harbour it lit up and and the houses in hills across it’s a beautiful sight. We arrived unpacked and headed to the catch for some dinner after a long journey really excited . I was served by such a rude miserable women... I only asked what the size difference in portions was kids compared to adults For my daughter. She literally scoffed at me and spoke in a different language out load which caught everyones attention. I then said it’s ok just two adult portions, paid the lady and she slammed my change down on the counter. Felt really embarrassed and actually quite upset about it. No way was i rude to her in the slightest we were very happy to be there. Anyway Our chips finally came I collected them after we was called and I said thank you to no reply from her and we just went back to our cottage. I didn’t even want to be outside to eat like our original plan. I don’t think I will ever return to this place. It may sound like I’m being petty but she was so aggressive to just a simple question. Iv been coming to looe for years and it really has my my heart all my amazing Memories here to then be spoke to like I’m an idiot. Never again!!!

I have family near looe that I visit several times a year. The highlight for me has always been at least 2 visits to Catch during the week we stay there. Their fish has always been fresh and the batter light but crisp. Unfortunately my last visit was a real disappointment. The batter was very hard, and difficult to get a fork into. I spoke to the guy who cooked it and he said they had changed to gluten free batter mix, which was the reason it was so hard. I had locally caught hake as a treat and even that was dry and tasteless. Catch has gone from the outstanding best fish & chip shop to one that I wont bother visiting again. A real shame.

We visited the catch on a very wet summers day. All our meals were fresh and cooked to order which we didn’t mind at all. The hake and monkfish were great. We will be back before we go home!

Simply sensational Haddock and sublime chips. My family of 4 ate everything and thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. Curry sauce was really good too. Great value kids meals.

Having had dreadful fish and chips from Polperro we were keen to have a better experience and the food people were eating outside The Catch looked very good.

To say this is a fishing harbour, it was very disappointing. The staff were polite and the chips were fine but the haddock was disgusting, small, thin and dry, the batter was also unpleasant. Back to Grimsby for proper fresh fish any day.

After fine fish 'n chips here last time, great location, scenery, clean restaurant and friendly service, thought no reason to go elsewhere. I ordered Haddock, which was to order. The chips were excellent as always, but the Haddock was thin, quite dry and just ok overall. Sure we'll try again when next down, but will try the cod next time.

We came here during our visit to Coverack for an evening meal. It is a lovely small restaurant, with such a fantastic view - we were lucky enough to sit in the window. The food was fantastic, we had squid for a starter, which was lovely. I then had a seafood thai curry - easily the best thai curry I have had out for a long time. The lovely lady serving was chatty, funny, and very attentive to our dog. We were sat chatting about a local beer, and the chef came past and showed us a beer that they stock from a local brewery, and recommended a couple of different ones. All in all, food was great, location was great and the staff were fantastic. We would definitely visit again!
