We have just eaten possibly the best Sunday lunch ever at The Castle and are now stuffed. A huge chunk of succulent roast beef, roast and mashed potatoes, a selection of ten (yes 10) different vegetables plus everything else you could think of asking for, followed by a huge coupe of Eton mess, all at an amazingly reasonable price. I immediately booked again for next week. The staff are all friendly and attentive and there is an excellent atmosphere. Thank you so much Kelly and your staff for giving us such a lovely time.

If you are hungry and want a really decent pub meal, The Castle Inn will give you everything you need at a really reasonable price. Excellent fish and chips with crunchy batter and moist fish, tender beef in the steak and ale pie and sticky toffee pudding with custard - what more could you ask for? The menu is short but with something for everyone - two fish and one vegetarian option. The staff are friendly and considerate and our waitress was delightful. Just the job!

What a fantastic pub. Great Landlady Kelly and husband Glyn who go above and beyond to make your visit enjoyable. The locals are welcoming, friendly and informative about the area. My family visited to celebrate my birthday we had an excellent meal great quality and value for money, compliments to the Chef. There is a great selection of drinks, lagers and ales not overpriced. The main room has a warm feel with a log burner which adds to the charm. There is an adjoining room (The Compasses Bar) if you fancy a game of pool or darts. I would recommend anyone travelling through Herefordshire to stop off and try this establishment out, my self and my family give it 10 out of 10 and look forward to frequenting this pub on a regular basis.

What an exceptional night, group of 6 friends, (3 couples) were met in the bar of this family run pub, shown to table, and given menus, we were not rushed, nothing was too much trouble, simple no frills menu, but boy oh boy, they know how to deliver, it’s not pretentious, it’s not fine dining, but it is superb, have to go back again soon. Well done, just keep doing the same

Staying locally, we called in for a drink on the Sunday evening and were made very welcome. We enquired about eating there on the Tuesday and were informed that they didn't normally do food on a Tuesday but would cater for us if we so wished. We accepted the offer and returned to have a freshly cooked sirloin steak with all the trimmings. Generous portions and friendly service. Thoroughly enjoyed both visits and would definitely recommend!

What a wonderful place to stay and our hosts carol and Steve (and boys) couldn’t do enough for us. They went over and beyond and can’t thank them enough for making us feel so welcome. They even cooked extra sausages for our dogs. We ate there both evenings and couldn’t fault the food. Karen even did us some vegetables to go with our meal which was much appreciated. We had pizza on the second evening which was made fresh to order and was delicious. They also do fresh home cooked evening meals at a reasonable price and the chips are not your frozen ones but fresh cut. Even the locals will talk to you Your room will have tea/coffee making facilities and even toiletries in the bathroom. Escaping the hustle and bustle of life is something we should do more of, and having stayed at The Castle Inn in Wigmore I can safely say that I would definitely recommend that you do too! From the point of booking, to our arrival they couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful.Greeted with a welcome drink on arrival, and helped with our things, we were shown to our room.Once we had decanted our things, we popped back down to the lounge where we enjoyed a really tasty meal, the steak was tender and full of flavour and both the children's plates were cleared and followed by a trio of delicious deserts. I have to say that the chocolate orange cheesecake was the best I have ever eaten!Cosy and comfortably full, we returned to our rooms. Much consideration was given to our needs. Staying with my son (who has additional support needs due to an injury) and my daughter we were given adjoining rooms and settled in for the evening with ample hot chocolate on the welcome tray and a little extra from the landlady (a rare find when staying away.) Relaxing in our cosy room, listening to the storm raging outside, we heard a knock on the door. Karen the Landlady, had brought a shower stool enabling my Son to use the wet room safely. How thoughtful! That personal touch, and care means so much, yet is so rare!Breakfast orders taken by Steve the Landlord, and we're ready for a cosy night, in the comfy beds. Described by my daughter as the best sleep she has had in nine years, she's 9 and a half! This place really is a gem, they take great pride in what they do and that is apparent, but it is also because of who they are, and how they make you feel. Each person (including Sam and George, who manage the bar) have been welcoming, thoughtful and engaging, and totally committed to making sure our stay was a good one! Thank you all so much. We will definitely return!

Four of us booked in for a one night stay. The staff are the big plus here. John the manager, Derek the barman and Holly the waitress were friendly, chatty and very helpful. Our room (no2) was clean, roomy and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and offered a good nights sleep. Parking was amenable and plenty of it.However there are two negative aspects to this place.Firstly the bar at the back of the premises appeared to be used by locals and appeared to be a sort of sports bar. No issue there, but the loud and raucous behaviour of those therein pervaded the whole downstairs of the hotel making it almost impossible to enjoy a drink and company in comfort without being distracted.Secondly and more importantly good quality food was cooked to a poor standard. It is clear the kitchen are trying to stretch above themselves. For example I ordered battered Hake, chips, peas and tartar. The batter was soggy and the portion of fish small. The chips were well done on the outside yet uncooked in the middle. The pea puree was a tasteless mush. All of my friends had similar issues with their meals. The dry breakfast was OK but the cooked breakfast all tasted the same; I suspect the cooking oil was unchanged and beyond its life. Also both at the evening meal and at breakfast items promised as part of the meal did not come with the meal.By way of reccomenadation do not try to compete with food at the hostelry up the road but stick to simple uncomplicated pub grub to match your otherwise excellent commodities.Would I recommend? Yes for a room only but not for food.Would I go again? Yes but I would not eat here.I know John has only recently taken over - we wish him all the best of luck. Once he gets the kitchen standards sorted and a little more ambience it has great potential. When that's done this will get a 4/5. Just saying.

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting the area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well furnished and comfortable enough. The bar and restaurant are decorated in a modern style but somehow the place is lacking in atmosphere. The restaurant area smelt faintly of cooking oil. The beer does not seem to be well kept as my pint was distinctly sour. The dinner menu is not extensive, but the basics are there. I had a burger which was average. My wife had steak pie with veg and gravy, but it came without gravy. The only other couple in the restaurant also ordered pie and they too did not get any gravy, despite asking! A restaurant unable to provide gravy? Breakfast was quite good however. This place is trying to be 3 star, but it doesn't quite get there! I would not stay there again and would not recommend it to friends.

They have obviously spent some time and money on the return. We went in after a walking intending to eat but the menu really is dated and boring so just had a drink. The man behind the bar, possibly the landlord spent his time on the computer perched on the bar with no conversation whatsoever, not what you expect from a country pub. Spent 2 nights here visiting family in the area . Check-in was painless and Jane most helpful showing us to the room etc.Went for a drink in the bar, which is well stocked with wine, beers, lagers and fine real ales, the later is well looked after and crystal clear. On entering the bar, what I thought was a local was sat at a table and made me feel most welcome, thuis turned out to be the General Manager, not dressed as I would expect the GM of such a nice place to be but hey maybe company policy I don't know. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant for three including drinks and a single malt from a fine selection from behind the bar. Breakfast the following morning was far more than adequate made fresh to your Choice from the menu. We ate from the bar menu that evening and I was more that surprised at the size of my chicken burger, which tasted superb. I had to stand to do make up and hair! The shower room was modern and well equipped but so tiny! Difficult to clean teeth and wash using the tiny wash basin. The room décor was dark and dated with natural wood skirting and door which made the room feel even smaller. However, the public areas of the Inn were light, spacious and beautifully furnished. The food was amazing and we were not disappointed by either the quantity or quality. To sum up - I would not stay here again but I would most certainly have a meal here as it's one of the best places have eaten in!

Stayed for one night and had dinner. Room was clean and good size, bathroom didn't have a window but was clean and smart if small. Bed was good and overall a decent overall place to stay the night. Restaurant has two menus - one is high end and very expensive the other is more "bar" orientated although still not a value offering. Mains were good but desert (summer pudding) was very poor and dry. Service was nice and discreet. The décor is a bit out of keeping with the country pub aesthetic outside but no complaints, it was all clean and tidy. Clearly more a restaurant pub than locals drinking space! I didn't have the breakfast as early start. The owner has clearly installed a new till system so takes a while to get the bills sorted. Not bargain bucket but a solid offering that I would try again.

Very very ultra modern interior, but very comfortable and relaxed. Met by the boss who guided us to our seats. We were the only folks in the place, so had the dining area to ourselves. Lovely menu of tantalising goodies. Childrens meals also available. The food arrived quickly, was beautifully presented. The fish was very good, as were the sausage, but the desserts won on great taste and style. Washed down with a house Merlot, the whole experience was very enjoyable if a little pricey.

Given that we are almost spoilt for choice in this area, our meal at The Castle last Saturday was one of the best I have eaten. The tomato tarte tatin with gazpacho sorbet was so delicious, we could have eaten it for every course - the very essence of tomato - and the idea of a very hot tart with the creamy sorbet melting over it was superb. I then had a moist and tender guinea fowl breast stuffed with sun-dried tomato and smoked cheddar, with the leg meat braised, shredded and made into a sausage shape, accompanied by sumptuous pommes Anna and several vegetables and lentils. Excellent cooking. My husband had a curry from the bar menu and was surprised to find the accompanying nan bread homemade and deliciously flaky. For pudding we both ordered the iced nougat parfait which was, as its name suggests, perfect. With a pint of cider and a soft drink, the bill came to £60. It's difficult to find a meal of this quality for a similar price anywhere else.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel and found the room to be very comfortable although the shower room was very small. This drawback was more than made up for by the staff who were extremely friendly and did everything possible to make the stay pleasant. The restaurant was welcoming and the food very good at both breakfast and dinner. It's a great place for a relaxing break.

Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. The chef certainly knows what he is doing. Had a much bigger room than last time. The only complaint is that there is a unneccesary shelf just above the small washbasin in the bathroom which makes cleaning your teeth into an art form. Simple removal of the shelf would remedy the situation. Bed was very comfortable. We slept well. No complaints at all and extremely good value. Excellent small hotel.

As this was the second pub in the village and we had already eaten at the Oak the night before, we thought that we would give it a try based on some reviews on trip advisor. When I booked the table the week before, when asked what time I replied between 7:30 and 7:45, the guy on the phone said "I'll put you in for 7:45" which was fine. Upon arriving that evening, the owner or manager firstly made out that we we're late, even though we arrived at about 7:40, then made a comment to the girl behind the bar, "this is your 7:30 booking" but it's ok as the 7:45 booking turned up at 7:30" very rude I think, then I asked if I could have a glass of prosecco and his reply was "we don't do it by the glass, then he turned round and said " but I suppose I can" at this point I was ready to walk out, due to his rudeness and arrogance, but as we probably wouldn't have been able to get into the Oak at such short notice, we decided to stay.Once we were sat at our table, and our food came, I was completely shocked as the food was fabulous, it's such a shame that the pub is run by a very rude and arrogant manger who has no people skills what so ever.

We stayed 1 night at the Castle Inn. Room was comfortable and calm. Reception was welcoming and quick. We had a welcome drink in the bar and then stayed for food. The Castle offers a bar menu and a more refined dining menu. They also offer a children's menu.Food and wine was excellent. So was the beer and coffee. Service was spot on, friendly and efficient. We had breakfast the following morning and that also matched the high level set out from the start.A great stay...get up to the Wigmore Castle ruins for stunning views of the area. Well worth a visit from Ludlow.

Four of us had dinner at this completely refurbished inn last night having heard very good reports on the cooking. What we all particularly enjoyed were the imaginative combinations of taste and texture. I was especially taken with the twice baked goat cheese starter. House wines very drinkable, relaxed service.

We called at the Castle Inn the other Saturday evening and had a very pleasant hour here. I had not been to the inn for about 25 years, it was called 'the Compass' then. The pub has three rooms where they serve food, in the Bar, in the restaurant or in the Walkers Bar. We only had a very basic meals. I had a Herefordshire Beef Burger my partner had a Fish & Chips but the food was excellent. The landlord and landlady were very keen and the service we received was brilliant. I would recommend the Castle to all.

We decided to try the Castle Inn again last night having heard that there had been a change of chef. The food was decidedly better than it had been at our last visit and we very much hope the Castle is starting to recover now. We had steak, and leek and camembert quiche from the bar menu, both of which were good standard bar meals. However, we still fear for the future of this establishment having been the only diners in the restaurant at around 8pm on a Saturday night with only a handful of people in the bar area.So if anyone from the Castle Inn reads Trip Advisor reviews, here are a few suggestions that we feel might help:1) you need to advertise the fact that you have a new chef and/or management - you cannot rely on the reputation that the Castle had 3 or 4 years ago under the fantastic chef that was there at that time.2) you face very stiff competition in Wigmore from The Oak pub/restaurant which is beautifully decorated, has a great atmosphere and serves excellent food - learn from them.3) update your decor - is it OK and clean, but also looks cheap and the style is wrong for an old building - visit some pubs that have got this right (try The Oak, The Lion or the The Sun in Leintwardine) and get some professional advice. We noticed that you have revamped the bar area, which was overdue, but unfortunately although it's better than it was, it's not doing you any favours (think 1990s).4) advertise - where is your "under new management" "new chef" sign? Why is your Facebook page so out of date? These would cost you nothing to do. For a small cost you could be advertising in local papers and events magazines. People will travel for a good meal in a lovely pub, so why not try to attract people from Ludlow, Hereford etc.5) get some events going - curry night, music, quizzes etc.6) if you can manage it, we would suggest getting expert advice to rebrand and revamp and then relaunch. Finally, good luck!

Dropped in for a weekday lunch after being recommended to try it after a change of hands, found the new decor and ambience much improved and very comfortable. Ordered the steak baguette for two of us and a small meal for one: a starter size cauliflower cheese. Steak baguettes exemplary; decent bread, quality steak perfectly cooked on freshly done onions, one with big chips (best in region but very naughty!) one with a superb green salad with a well matched mustard dressing; both really very good indeed and recommended. Cauliflower cheese freshly done and it showed, with the fussiest eater declaring it excellent. All felt like food from an expensive restaurant rather than a pub, so good value at £8.95 for the large steak meals and under £5 for the c/cheese. Friendly and efficient service too. Now on our list of decent places to go, hope it does not change!

We came here for a New Years Eve Lunch, as we came in the pub felt quite homely as you would hope for a local country pub. We found comfy sofa's to sit on and ordered our drinks, the service was friendly enough and we waited with our drinks for our table to become available. We had a fairly short wait for our food as we had ordered prior to being seated, the dining area was reasonable, and it was clean and tidy. I ordered a monkfish risotto along with another member of the group, while others went with burgers and steaks from the menu. The feedback from everybody else about their meal was fairly positive and they were happy with it, however the risotto was a disaster, the rice was stodgy and had no flavour at all. The fish was fairly rubbery and did not have any flavour and was difficult to eat due to it lacking flavour and it tasted over cooked. Had i not been very hungry I would most definitely have left this meal.We provided the feedback on this particular dish and on checking on the website it looks like they are no longer doing it on the menu.

As local residents we really would like the Castle Inn to do well, but based on recent experience I fear that this restaurant is not going to last much longer unless it really ups its game and fast. Before the recent change of management the Castle Inn was amazing and could rival any restaurant in nearby Ludlow or beyond. The food was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable - it was a real hidden gem and we even thought it might be on its way to a Michelin stardom. But we have been a couple of times since the recent change of hands and the standard has been nowhere near what it used to be. We hoped that things would improve with time but sadly they haven't. We went again yesterday and that will be the last time. The place was quiet and our table had been booked well in advance yet the service was quite slow, some of the orders were wrong and the quality of the food was average to poor. The pork was nice enough, the cod was tasty enough (although lukewarm) but the lamb was something else - "tough, impossible to cut, full of gristle and the worst lamb I have ever had".The service was polite and well-meaning but slightly amateurish and a bit odd. For example, when one of our party asked during the meal for a glass of wine, the waiter brought out an already started bottle of wine and just left it on the table for her to serve herself. Weird. We are not natural complainers, but we really had to say what we thought on this occasion. To give the staff their due, they listened carefully to our comments and offered us a very decent discount to make up for the problems, but to be honest we would really much rather have had a very decent meal than a very decent discount. We had really enjoyed having the Castle Inn in the village under the previous ownership and were regular diners. We felt so lucky to have two lovely restaurants in the village now that the Oak is also under new management. Sadly, though we are now down to one great restaurant and it isn't the Castle Inn. We will not be returning to the Castle in a hurry (in fact not all at unless we hear reports of big improvements) and will stick to the Oak from now on. Such a shame and we do genuinely hope that the Castle Inn will be able to turn things around before it's too late.

Have been to this pub on a number of occasions. I cannot fault the food and quality for our Sunday lunch, however this time we booked for 1.30 and arrived at 1.20. We ordered drinks at the bar and were asked to sit in the bar before being shown to the restaurant. we waited until 1.50 before we were shown a menu. At 2.15 we were shown to our table and the food arrived just before 2.30, two of the three meals were not overly hot and had to wait nearly five minutes before all three meals were served. The restaurant was not even busy, just three other tables occupied so at a loss as to why the whole process took so long. I must repeat the food was very nice.

I dined here on a Sunday evening and was told that the restaurant was only open because there were residents. I mention this as I assume it was the reason for the limited menu that was on offer. The dining room was rather soulless and very - well - brown. I was offered homemade bread to begin and this was rather good. I was also offered a piece of bread on a slate, covered with a layer of green mulch, which was apparently wild garlic, as was the soup of the day. Clearly it is both in season and prolific. I declined both as I'm not a huge garlic fan.I chose fish and chips, followed by chocolate fondant and both were well-cooked, the chips in particular, being golden and crispy. The waitress was charm personified.I've rated it average overall as that was my experience on the night. I suspect that it is rather better with the full menu, although that décor will be the same on any day of the week...

The food was excellent ( roast beef juicy, lots of vegetables, other mains approved of, nicely presented and tasty starters ) the service very attentive and the atmosphere convivial. The price was also good - £21 each for two courses, drinks ( there were 6 of us and three had large wine glass) coffee and tip. We will certainly be back and will tell others too. We came for dinner on a Sunday night when it is always difficult to find places open or do food in the country. The menu provided a good choice and we chose a delicious smoked salmon starter followed by local trout and finished off with their homemade basil ice cream. Another excellent meal at The Castle - why are more people not flocking to this restaurant? It's a gem. My cauliflower soup was quite simply the best soup I have ever eaten, and I'm a soup maker! Husband loved the hollandaise with his asparagus. We both had rack of lamb which was pink and tender and full of flavour, with a smashing cylinder of shoulder meat in the centre - genius. We also both chose the same pudding: rhubarb and strawberry creme brulee (which clearly and delicately tasted of both fruits) with apple sorbet. The staff are all lovely and treat you like old friends without ever over-doing it. Three course meal for two including drinks - £60. I was paying that fifteen years ago for meals of lesser quality. We go back as often as we can manage it.

An eatery quite close to home for us that we had never quite got around to trying previously. Putting that oversight right for a midweek lunch we emerged very pleased that we had visited and vowing to return!A warm relaxed welcome and a gently elegant restaurant greeted us. The menu impressive in in its options - a choice of 2 or 3 course set menu (with options for each), a 'pub classic' style selection, a daily specials offering and good sandwich menu meant something for every taste, appetite or pocket (prices from around £6 sandwiches served with chips, through £10 mains, £14 for 2 course set to around £18 for steaks, top end specials). We sampled asparagus starters, mains of ribeye, fish pie & battered fish - all were to a very good standard. Particular mention goes to the excellent chips (chunky, crisp outer, fluffy inner - yes please!). Deserts are modern 'fine dining' in design - not attempted personally but - well received by those indulging. We will be happy to return soon & are also happy to recommend to fellow TripAdvisors.

Attention to detail is fab and the standard is really so high, it's staggering from a small country pub. Apparently the Sunday roast is not to be missed, so that's next on our list! My only grumble is that you aren't closer to us but you are definitely worth the trek!

Straight to the food:I have eaten in many places with a name and I have only rarely received such good value. I would only say about the food-without telling you how superb the beetroot soup and the pigeon breast and the salmon starters were, and nor the mains - that if each meal they produce is of the standard we all received today, in presentation and taste, then this place is vastly under rated. 5 people, drinks 4 starters, mains and two pudding- frankly I almost wasn't bothered about the price...don't poo poo that. I have eaten in places and paid more than three times that for inferior meals. The word should well and truly be out by now people. And every Sunday this place should be heaving, as for the rest of the week. I will be going to find out.Nice wine list. Get a good burgundy.Setting- spot on. Good car park, and when the weather gets better the garden would be superb with a couple of alterations. If this is fine dining, and it is guys.....Then think about it, the garden is even more an extension of your food in the summer, and that is not even a complaint-just an observation from someone who sees hard work and accomplishment in a field they know about, and an opportunity for expansion if you take the quality on the plate to all aspects of the garden. Young waiter man- more confidence, and remember the spoon. You are selling something really good there dude, be proud of serving it and where you work. Make sure you eat some of every dish so you know. The cost per person thing? WHAT does it mean? It was casual sit down and eat prices for the sheer quality, so that's what I am putting. But if you want any kind of meal then I recommend trying here soon as you can. If you are local, as am I, then going anywhere else for your next decent outing would be churlish. And yes, I know what is out there locally- all of you-BEWARE.Go for it you lot at the Castle, get in there, you deserve it...I was the only local among the group of friends who ate today, and it was my choice, I also got 5 stars from the four accomplished and 'well eaten' people who joined me today.

I was treated to dinner at The Castle on Valentine's Day and this was my first visit. We were greeted immediately on entering by a rather stately gentleman, who took our drink orders and seated us in a lounge area. Our G&Ts arrived swiftly (but rather oddly with a straw in the glass) and we enjoyed a leisurely drink before the same man returned to take us to the dining room just beyond the lounge. A waiter swiftly appeared and, throughout the meal, we never had to search for waiting staff. Nor were we over-hassled with enquiries about how we were enjoying the meal, would we like more drinks, etc., which is so often the case. The waiting staff, despite in one case being very young, managed the fine line between being pleasant and being over-friendly. Until the end of the meal when I actively encouraged one of the staff to talk about the restaurant, the interaction was simply polite and professional. When the first plate appeared I was slightly apprehensive because the serving seemed to be quite small and I have a good appetite. However the serving, and all those which followed, turned out to be absolutely right for the richness and complexity of the course in every case (except perhaps the last as I was unable to finish my - delicious - dessert). The presentation of the food was first class: the food was arranged to show it off to its best advantage, but not over-fussed. (I am heartily sick of the ridiculous '80s fashion for dribbling inedible and often rather violently-coloured streaks, globules and powder around the edges of plates - when on earth will this silly practice die out?) The chef at The Castle, however, knows his craft and the food was shown off perfectly - as fresh, beautifully-prepared food and not as something the Tate forgot. All the food was fresh and prepared perfectly. Homemade rolls at the beginning of the meal (and cool water served in a jug and without extra charge, another pernicious and too-frequent practice) were very tasty but neither too heavy nor large to spoil the appetite. Food provenance details are given in the menu and it's obvious that the chef is very careful in choosing 'real', well-sourced food.I pointed out to one of the waiting staff that the intermezzo sorbet had been served with a spoon which was too large to fit more than two-thirds down the containing glass. She apologised pleasantly and, a little later, returned to say that the chef had been trying out different glass-and-spoon combinations; I was impressed. The tables were well laid, the table furnishings were spotlessly clean and of perfectly good quality. The dining atmosphere created by the staff was excellent and everyone dining seemed to be enjoying themselves without having to worry about anything. We had been asked by a friend to look at the restaurant, while we were visiting, to see whether it was suitable for a meal she had promised us. So, at the end of our meal, I sat back and looked at the whole thing dispassionately - and then the décor struck its jarring notes for the second time. When we first entered the dining room I had winced at the décor, but had then blocked it out it because I wanted to enjoy the evening. However it has to be said that there is little about the decoration which lives up to the rest of the dining experience at The Castle. I just don't understand why, when everything else shows taste and careful choice, the décor is like it is in this dining room. The carpet (although admirably clean) shouts 'pub' and the curtains are definitely not talking to it; the tables shout 'café' and the chairs don't want to know them; the only thing they've all got in common is 'mid brown'. (The walls are off-white which doesn't even complement this rather dubious choice of tone.) The shape of the tables does nothing for the space, and the overall impression is of a pub room in which some sort of function is going to be held so someone has gone round hunting up a few tables and chairs to enable everyone to sit down.Given that the pub is a quirky shape (there's a super little step-down alcove off the dining room, too, which would be excellent for a party of six diners), much, much more could be made of the space, and here too the interior decoration really lets the whole thing down. I understand that the chef is just about to leave for greener (or perhaps just less brown?) pastures. However the waitress, who spoke very highly of the chef, seemed very certain that the incoming chef was going to hold to the same standards, so there should be nothing to worry about on this account.I just hope he's not allergic to brown.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣
