Came in for dinner, I had the cheese and onion pie which was a massive portion that I thoroughly enjoyed. My husband opted for the lasagne, he thought he was being boring when he ordered it but was pleasantly pleased with his selection, flavour and generous amount of cheese blew him away. As always, I made room for dessert, cheesecake of the day was the Baileys Cheesecake and I regret not ordering another one. Overall food was a 12/10 and so reasonably priced, could not complain. Great service too, learnt from the waiter who served us that there’s a new head chef Jacob and all I can say is what a fantastic start and well done on the food options. I am a picky eater and there’s normally 1 or 2 I like on the menu whenever we eat out but I did not feel limited at all at the castle inn. Will be gladly returning again!

we arrived promptly but had to wait 35 mins for our food. me crispy beef salad 14.95 and hubby gammon steak. 15.95.we ate and the food was ok apart from the gammon steak which was too salty. The desserts were 7.95 each which seemed outrageous. An ordinary meal at an extraordinary price.

We were regular customers at The Roaring Meg and really highly rated the roast dinners over the years. Now at The Castle, the prices are higher, portions lower, and selection of vegetables and little additions to the roast are far fewer. No stuffing on today's roast, the tiniest portion of vegetables, and on complaining, the jolly waiter just walked away disinterested and said the portion size was correct. We ordered more vegetables for the table, and we were then told when I told the nicer waitress that I felt disappointed by the plates of food that the extra vegetables and gravy were free. There is nothing that stated this on the menu as the charge says £3.50 for extra vegetables, and the male server didn't inform us of this either. I've attached a photo of the entire portion of vegetables which I initially received on my plate. Very disappointing.

Blown away by the food here. Recently reopened with new management, we thought we would give it a try; everyone was really impressed. This was the first time I have thought 'Wow' when starting the meal for a very long time. I had the Lamb Henry and it was perfect. The mash which I think had a tiny amount of spring onion in and garlic was equally as good. Service was great and two great ales on, 6X and Timothy Taylors. We are already planning our next visit. Also lots of choice if you are Gluten Free.

No cars in the carpark other than mine, the place in darkness, and chairs still stacked on the tables. The whole place looked scruffy and overgrown. We have been now to the Castle on several occasions and couldnt be happier with the service, food and atmosphere. We ate out for Valentines day, have taken family and most recently, been for sunday lunch. Sunday lunch was absolutely spectacular, as were the meals on all occasions. I could not recommend highly enough. The meat was of such a high quality and my partner said they were the best roast potatoes he'd ever had - a special mention to the chefs as we were thoroughly impressed. We often come in just for drinks and the landlords are always fabulous hosts and make us feel so welcome and their staff are an absolute credit to them. If anyone wants a quick drink after a long day, a quick meal mid week or a place to go for a special occasion The Castle has it all. I am so pleased this pub has been given a new lease of life and want to thank the staff for giving us an excellent local pub!

The menu is still fairly small, probably, like many places due to post pandemic issues. However what they do offer is nothing short of excellent. If you have the steak, ask for blue cheese sauce; you'll be impressed! The beef and ale pie.... oh wow! If you're a beer drinker, you'll enjoy the smooth and silky Timothy Taylor. I thoroughly recommend it.

As a Coeliac, I selected the roast cauliflower. This was cauliflower on a bed of onions and peppers, with spinach. It had a tomato sauce. There were a lot of onions. This could have been balanced out with more peppers. The sauce was very scant. The meal was small and expensive compared to the meals my family received. There meals all came with extras. Eg the fish (which was huge) had chips, peas and tartar sauce. I had to pay extra for my chips. I have emailed the venue, but not received a reply. Didn't want to talk about it on the night as we were out to celebrate a birthday

We have used the Castle many times over the years but won’t be visiting again after our recent experience. Why do visit a pub? Hospitality? A warm welcome? Atmosphere? Good food and drinks? Unfortunately under we the current management none of the above applied. I can honestly say I have never been to a pub restaurant where the background music is played from a mobile phone left by the table! New experience if nothing else! A Christmas Eve family meal to be remembered for all the wrong reasons! Happy Christi all

Restricted menu, no atmosphere. The only vegetarian choice for a main meal was haloumi burger which, done well, is ok. This wasn’t done well. The only Christmas decs was a Christmas tree - with no lights on it. Been to the Castle Inn many times in the past but won’t be going back. They didn’t even have different teas - just plain tea is what we were told. I believe it changed hands a couple of weeks ago. From my very limited experience of them I would say that the new people have never been in hospitality before & clearly don’t have a clue! The place was almost empty, & just not at all welcoming.

Six pieces of scampi were drowning in a large plateful of equally oversized, under cooked 'chips' and accompanied by a bowl of mushy peas which were anything but mushy; dry and fibrous. Quite inedible. The beer and wine were good and the service, as always, was excellent. This maybe an unfair review as it was just two days before the second covid lock-down so I do appreciate it is a really tough time for this whole industry. We WILL return after lock-down and I really hope we see the return to normality of this usually wonderful eatery! Two adults ordered the beef roast dinner which arrived not only lukewarm, but so rare that there was more blood on the plate than gravy. There were two children in the party and the bill came to over £80 Considering that the management gave us free coffee and children’s desserts this was extortionate. We still tipped the waiters as none of this was their fault but would definitely not return or recommend the food.

It was my first time visiting The Castle Inn last night and I was not disappointed, I had previously heard very good things so wanted to find out for myself. The food was very good, myself and my partner had no issues what so ever. The staff were very welcoming, big thankyou to the waitress Danielle, who was very friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed and that we were happy. After having a starter and a main we thought there was no room for dessert, that was untill Danielle told us about the dark chocolate and Baileys cheesecake which was delicious! The food was tasty and beautifully presented, not overly expensive. The Castle Inn gave a Warm and cozy atmosphere and I will definitely be visit again.Highly recommended.

Both my wife and I visit the Castle Inn at least once a week. Food is lovely, specials are amazing and reasonably priced and a nice range of beers, ales, spirits too. Staff are very friendly. A particular mention to Katy for her friendly and welcoming attitude and of course not forgetting Amy and Danielle for having a lovely friendly attitude too. It all adds to a fantastic experience...thank you all

Four elderly patrons went for a lunch. Food and service very good - please keep a salmon steak on the menu as a regular feature please. What spoilt the visit was the fact that we were one of two tables left eating after all other patrons had gone - the heating went off and it became decidedly cold. The 3 ladies at the table by the fire were ok as they sat round the fire warm and cosy but we really felt the cold - never been in a restaurant before when they turned the heating off - is it a hint that it was time we were going? Anyway go we did didn't stay for coffees etc and a disppointing end to what would have been a lovely lunch visit. Unfortunately there are no toilet facilities for disabled patrons (able-bodied can use toilet facilities for the disabled) and I could see no designated parking for disabled car drivers/passengers . I notice that management do not reply to reviews so here's hoping that they heed my request to not turn the heating off when people are still dining (heat from the fire does not reach the diners at the back of the room and also to install better facilities for disabled patrons.

We chose this as it was half way along our walking route, namley the Gritstone Trail and Macclesfield Canal. Lovely pub atmosphere. Very polite and attentive staff and the food was much, much more than your average pub grub. My walking pal and I chose the sausage and mash - quite frankly the best I have ever tasted. Clean plates all round.

Not the cheapest place to dine, but the food is worth every penny, add to that the friendliest staff imaginable and you have a great dining experience. Highly recommended.

The Yellow Broom is best described as a blend of pure elegance with a splash of sophistication. The setting is undeniably beautiful, complemented by a warm welcome from the staff, who are clearly well-trained in delivering exceptional silver service. The menu offers a well-balanced selection of cuisine, ensuring there's something to delight every palate. The presentation of the dishes was nothing short of exquisite, and the flavors were simply delightful. The staff were remarkably attentive without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant were both appealing and comfortable, enhancing the overall dining experience. The Yellow Broom is a truly first-class establishment that consistently maintains high standards. I highly recommend a visit—you will not be disappointed.
