supplying local crackheads since I've lived here which is my whole life, if you want a rough place this the place to go ! Everytown needs a bar like this to keep the good ones clean so+3 stars for that, so it is what it is

Fabulous pub had a very nice Tbone stake and pint of Thatchers.

What a lovely place. The hotel was spotless. Beautiful room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was amazing We only had breakfast but it was plentyful and very tasty. Comfortable bed. And the toiletries were amazing. I hope to go back there one day. It was a truly lovely stay.

Very cheap drinks, high quality drinks.

This could be a fantastic bar but when u leave this bar u can almost know your going to get a homeless person ask u for spare change from factory Row just down side of pub. The smokers are a bit of a problem for people trying to get past them into the town during the day and the owner of the pub seems friendly enough. This is a welcoming bar just a few thing let it down to be fair.

Great surviving pub in part of Torquay that used to be buzzing. Full of genuine people who make you feel welcome even if you are not local. Very good prices compared to places nearer the harbour. Pool, jukebox, cheap booze and nice people, what's not to like?!

Town centre pub used by local clientele. Too many smokers in the doorway for my liking. Beer was ok.

Not a good first impression. Music banging at 4pm. Choice of ales poor. Toilets ...well dirty, loose pans and floor covering blown. You've got to be desperate to visit either.

A basic pub nothing special apart from the decent prices

Quite disappointing on my way into town on a Thursday night at roughly quarter past 10 was told they were shutting which is beyond belief in a holiday resort

One of my favourite pubs in torquay. A bangin' jukebox, great staff and fun punters. Could be so much better though. Needs a push. A bit tired.

This pub is hit and miss for me. On one hand it's a nice little old pub that has nice local staff and a great selection of alcohol however the location really let's it down. Its no fault of the pub but its right next to torquay drug central. It pains me to say it but through no fault of the pub I can't advise many to visit

We visit this pub every time we come to Torquay and have seen it change over the years. Always a warm welcome. It’s a proper pub with proper people in it. The prices are exceptionally good and service is quick. Wouldn’t say it’s a family pub but we love it. A+

Not somewhere l'd want to go again. It's good having cheap drinks but at 5.30 on a Wednesday evening the juke box was on full volume and two elderly drunk men just inside the door using foul language, and l'm no prude but wouldn't like to bring my wife in.

Mold in the shower and no elevator, the parking was atrocious. That being said, the staff were excellent and the food great. And when I showed pictures of the shower they were horrified.

It's not for everyone but you'd be surprised

This place as had its fair share of trouble, but all in all its a nice place. Good music in the evening and cheap meals.

£2.50 for all drinks and 50p for pool, can't go wrong. If you're more interested in how much your point costs over the decor and music then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a nice contemporary wine bar with a a great selection of wines then I'd stay away.

I had to visit here to relive the days of my youth when I came back to Torquay. The drinks are very cheap at £2.50. Staff are friendly. Howeveŕ, the poor old place is looking a little dog eared.

Definitely a locals pub. Doesn't show Sky Sports though it advertises that it does. All drinks £2.50 which if that is your thing is great

This place is so cheap and so good! Everyone’s so friendly and u don’t feel out of place here. And £2.50 a pint can’t complain. Just been told it’s opening till 1 on a Friday too! Even better

THEY HAD THE BEER ON AT £2.50 A PINT AND ALL THE MEALS FOR THE SAME £2.50 HAD THE FISH AND CHIPS WITH PEAS IT WAS REALLY GOOD.

... however, we found (on a Monday, early evening) one very drunk sobbing man, three very drunk geriatric females offering him 'comfort', and children ignored by boozing parents. Not a clientele that 99% of us would want to spend a evening with I'm afraid.

This pub is really picking up. Great management, chef and staff. They are working hard to rid the bar of the few idiots who think they can drink in the bar then cause trouble.

Called in the pub for a. Afternoon drink . All drinks were £2,50 whatever drink you had. There is als very cheap food served. This is an old fashioned pub,which also had sky sports . Not a large pub but friendly staff and locals. Worth calling in, when you reach the end of the shops.

The Sunday Carvery lunch is cheap , they do loads of veg , all hot , one of the meats was Mutton , very unusually , I choose the mutton , absolutely fantastic , the Carvery is fantastic value for money , This place is never busy , we always get a table , why can’t we find a place like this near where we live

You just have to try the carvery. No words can explain how amazing it is. Sunday lunch at its very best. 5 stars all the way

Went into pub for convenience as had an appt across the road so thought I would wait it out At The Castle pub until then. Wasn't that impressed, found the pub to be cold don't know whether heating was on or not. Bought a bottle of Brothers cider for an extortionate £4. 60 don't even know if was true price as the guy put manually in till. Didn't find staff that friendly or helpful. Also seating hard and uncomfortable, and abysmal 60's and 70's music on speakers. Wouldn't bother with the place, bit run down!.

We came here on our holiday last year and it was amazing, yet a couple of days ago when we visited again it was the most disappointing meal of our holiday...won't be visiting again 👎

Called in for break from walking. Made welcome by the host. Given information about the pub. Coffee caused no problem, nor did the choice of real ales. Thoroughly enjoyed our break. Interesting decor and hidden away servery

This pub as a very freindly feeling Kath and Mark realy made my wife and me feel that we had drank in there for years it was a realy good feeling. The food is as good if not better then any pub in Torqauy. Mick and Denise Portsmouth.

We especially looked for this place as it had been the "Local" of my wife over 45 years ago and were delighted to find it still exits in original location and name. Initially just went in for a pint but, as we sat and listened to the particularly good music playlist, we decided to just have our lunch here too. We were certainly pleased we did as it was a fine example of good value pub grub. Although not busy at the time, we were also by impressed the the friendly atmosphere in general and the unusual decor. You have to say that it is quite a compliment to the place to have survived so long with so little change. Well recommended.

even though we were outsiders we were made to feel very welcome. only had drinks which were very cheap compared to our local. we didnt eat as we had meals at hotel. very nice atmosphere,service and carvery smelt lovely.excellent background music will return hopefully for karaoke night. steve and rita

We had Christmas dinner and I have to say. It was excellent. Family food. Hard work put in by the landlady, her husband and father in law. 😇😁

We just popped in in the off chance for a Sunday carvery. We weren't sure about it as it looks a bit gloomy from the outside. However once inside we were really very pleasantly surprised. The carvery is less than £6 per person and therefore we weren't expecting too much. So here is the surprise.... The meats were very well cooked. The beef was really full of flavour, the gammon too was absolutely lovely. The selection of veg was really good too, red cabbage, brussels, and parsnips. Actually much better than venues that charge considerably more. Wash this down with great friendly service and you've got yourself a winner. So don't be put off by the outside. You won't be disappointed.

Called in here late at night , we were given a very warm welcome by the owner, and service with a smile.......we then returned the following afternoon, to have some home cooked food which was delicious , cant fault it , would recommend you call in and have the carvery on a sunday , seemed very popular and reasonably priced , if we pass that way again I will definitely be calling in !!

Myself and my partner first frequented the castle several months ago as passing and saw food was on offer..We nearly fell sideways at the amazing price for what we received and the quality was to be unfaulted. Since then we have had there sunday carvery many times as the gravy is to die for and at £5.95 per head amazing value. The owners made us feel so welcome in there that we have now made this a regular establishment for a lovely meal out !!
