Visited twice in the last few weeks with family and last night with friends and what an absolutely gorgeous pub/restaurant. The decor is outstanding and extremely clean and very cozy, a perfect country pub! The food is outstanding, on both occasions there were a variety of different choices on the specials board along with a great menu. I wouldn't normally have a starter as a desert girlie but the starters sounded so good and they most certainly were so delicious, so ended up having 3 courses!! Perfect portion sizes for us too. Fabulous service, staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning as now at the top of our list.

We visited this lovely pub on a busy Friday night in September, and were bowled over at how wonderful everything was. From the warm welcome by the landladies, to the food, the decor and the service from the whole team. Special mention to those homemade puddings- an absolute delight! What a great find- we will definitely be back!

The food and atmosphere here were great last night. Sarah, with her friends and family, create a fun and informal vibe while the food is that little bit better than elsewhere at the moment. Pricing for both food and wine is also not only fair but actually quite reasonable these days. Thank you for a great evening.

Best pub I have visited in my area. Stunning location, lovely outside terrace/dining area. Spotlessly clean. When you picture a typical, English, country pub, this is it. Food was absolute perfection. Not inexpensive, but given the high quality, well worth it. Exceptionally fresh and perfectly cooked. Staff outstanding, welcoming and friendly. I really couldn’t fault a thing. Bonus - doggie friendly. Bit of a drive for us, but we will definitely make this a regular lunch treat. Thankyou!

We drove past this pub and noticed it looked so beautiful on the outside and very well looked after that we would try for a spot of lunch. We were absolutely amazed. Welcomed by lovely bar staff, we sat in the gorgeous garden filled with lovely plants and comfortable rattan furniture. I ordered a sandwich which came with chips for under £10 and I could not finish it all! It was absolutely amazing and fantastic value for money. The food was obviously homemade and just delicious. 21 of us of all ages descended on this lovely Kentish pub for a family celebration lunch. Despite the pouring rain on a Bank Holiday Saturday we were warmly welcomed into a lovely, candlelit room with beams and an inglenook fireplace. The host had sent us the menu in advance and the food came promptly and efficiently. Everything was delicious from the beetroot cured salmon, the Chicken Wings with honey, the Liver and bacon and the Fish and Chips, to mention a few!.The children were well catered for too. The empty plates at the end said it all! So nice to find a pub that is friendly and welcoming and serves excellent, fresh food. The specials board also looked interesting and we hope to return when we visit the area again.

Having been away from the UK for about 30 years we booked a table for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. There were five us in our party including some French friends visiting England for the first time. The pub was so busy but Sarah (the boss) and her staff were completely up to the mark. The service was impeccable and what impressed me was that the French asked for their roast beef to be served pink – and it was. The two chefs hard at work in in the kitchen must be congratulated on their expertise as all our food was attractively served, very tasty and plentiful. I have known the Carpenters for some 40 years when it was enthusiastically run by Tony and Mary O’Regan a lovely couple who eventually retired to Spain after which the pub took a nosedive and apparently closed completely for some months. Sarah, a local, jumped in and took it over and with the help of friends and her sons redecorated and started to sell some very interesting and delightful food. If you are thinking of going to the Carpenters I suggest you make certain to book in advance to ensure you get a table. The prices are very reasonable and the beer tastes good! Thanks Sarah and your team for a very happy and contented afternoon.

Visited for a friend’s birthday. This was our 2nd time eating at the pub and we are already booked in for NYE. That should tell you how much we like the Carpenters Arms. The pub is cosy with open fires and the staff are really welcoming and friendly. Food is great. Portion sizes are good and reasonably priced. They run a transfer service which is great if you all want a drink as the pub is in the countryside. The pub is also dog friendly. Roll on NYE 😊

What a lovely pub (they had a nice open fire!) and delicious food and delightful service. We went for their pie and pint night and we were stuffed. Good generous portions - steak and guiness was crammed with meat and the fish pie had loads of fish. The rest of the menu looked equally delicious and a nice desert selection. There is also a bar area where you can and have a further drink after! We will be back.

Our first trip since the takeover/makeover... And nothing disappointed! The pub has been given a warm, inviting and slightly quirky makeover, and a lot of thought and hard work has gone into it. Good use of recycling dotted around. My husband was quite in awe of the beer keg urinals! Immediately made to feel very welcome by the staff. Very good variety on the menu. And we weren't disappointed when the mains arrived. Delicious! We had already looked at desserts and, despite some "specials" being additional options we all had the gypsy tart - it's rare to find this dessert that originated in Kent on the menu and not sold out! Again, delicious. After lunch, we sat in the patio area to the rear for further drinks. We were given the option to eat out there but declined as it was 31°, and lovely and cool indoors. A very smart outdoor area with a good amount of tables, but still plenty of room to manoeuvre to and from inside to the bar. Overall we loved it here and we're so glad this pub has reopened... We hope it's a great success! We will definitely be back, time and time again when we're able!

An enjoyable drive through the countryside brings you to this well-organised, homely, gastro pub, which appeared fully COVID compliant. Service was excellent. Homemade tomato and basil soup was tasty and creamy; sea bass starter came with delicious crab cakes and pea and squash purée. Burger was chunky and handmade, with brioche bun and ample trimmings including onion marmalade; sea bass main course served with crushed potatoes and steamed vegetables was a little underwhelming but fresh and lifted by a piquant sauce. Portions were a comforting size.

We were told to arrive at 1pm and food would be served at 1.30. It was 2.30 when our starter arrived and nearly 4.30 for the main course. There were no apologies or notifications re the delays. Many other diners were also suffering the same fate. It spoilt what should have been a great afternoon. This is absolutely no way to treat customers and has sadly, put me off returning.

We had looked at a couple of pubs nearer Faversham and drove this way.My husband fancied a ploughman’s and I was quite surprised that there were no sandwiches, ploughman’s or snack lunches available, as I would have thought that these were far easier to prepare!I chose chicken satay and he had field mushrooms followed by scampi, chips and peas. The satay sauce was nice but I would have preferred more of it. The chicken was a bit anaemic for me...I like it cooked a bit more.My husband really enjoyed the field mushrooms and his scampi was well cooked and looked tasty. Our drinks were fine and the young lady serving us was very polite and efficient. The wait for our dishes to arrive seemed endless! I know that these times are not the norm but I don’t think that we have waited so long for food to be prepared in years!

Went to this pub/restaurant on a recommendation from a friend, we were on our way to stay overnight in Faversham and wanted somewhere to stop off for lunch. The Carpenters is in a very quiet location, we had booked a table and on arrival there were 2 other tables with 4 people on each. Staff were very friendly and took our drink orders and then showed us to our table. The bar area is very comfortable and we were given appropriate time to look at the menu. Fresh homemade warm rolls were brought to the table and were simply delicious. My husband had the Parsnip and honey soup, strangely he is not a mad fan of parsnips but he really enjoyed it, you could tell this was also homemade, for mains we had warm chicken and bacon tagliatelle and fish of the day which was salmon on a bed of spinach with new potatoes and roasted tomato. The food was very well presented and so tasty. We will definitely be visiting this pub restaurant again. The lady that served us wore a face mask and every table was cleaned down.

Hygiene precautions were all good and the two fillet steaks and cajun chicken were all cooked to perfection.Yes the staff are having to work incredibly hard to maintain high hygiene standards, individual menus, as well as double the work load they previously had.I do feel as customers who are able to make benefit of the current scheme should maybe have a bit more patience and understanding of the extra work involved in restaurants re opening with new rules. We are benefitting from this scheme which is very successful but also making restaurants etc very busy.Be prepared to wait a bit longer ( maybe in the spirit of our current climate , try smiling ) but the food is well worth waiting for.

Very disappointing, waited 15 mins for glass of water, 25 mins for bottle of wine which we had to order twice. Had to wait a further half hour for food, very little meat in pie, masses of pastry, undercooked potatoes and rest of vegetables appeared to have been microwaved. Such a change from last year when we went frequently. The waitresses were doing their best but there appeared to be no one in overall control.

Visited on a night that qualified for the Eat Out to Help Out subsidy. It was the last night of our family holiday and we had spent time researching where to go. We had a booking at 7.15pm. All tables inside and out appeared taken, but I am assuming with distancing, there were less tables than normal: it didn't seem packed. There seemed to be a problem with a chef down. The waitresses were running around like headless chickens looking very stressed which made us feel stressed just sitting there. We had to wait and wait for menus, then for the wine list, then had to remind them to take the wine order. We then went to order the food including a starter and was told best not order a starter, as could be there all night waiting! We ordered a main course each (6 of us) and then waited and waited. We didn't get our main course until gone 9pm...nearly 2 hours after arriving. Not once during our wait did they offer us a drink, just stressed apologies. The tagliatelle tasted like it was rushed and they had just added a load of cream to pasta and chicken, the pork belly was dry and hard on top, the apple mash just had chunks of almost raw apple chopped into it: it all seemed cobbled together in a rush. The burger was good and the cajun chicken was good. I appreciate that they might get a little busy during this offer, but they had our number and could have called us to say they were unable to cope as they were a chef down and we could then have found an alternative venue for what was supposed to be a special family night. I would have respected that, rather than ruining our evening. We left after the main course, as we didn't want to watch their despair at having to accommodate us re desserts. I am sure that on a good day this place is good, but they failed miserably on our evening and did nothing to try and put it right, such as a complimentary drink. I didn't point out to them at the time about the issues with the pork and pasta, as they looked stressed enough, but perhaps should have done: we just wanted to get the bill and get out, as it had been a long evening already.

Our first meal out since lock down, a little apprehensive but Carl and his team have done a great job. Made to feel both safe and welcomed. First pint of Spitfire in a few months (bliss) followed by roast Sirloin beef with all the trimmings and a home made chicken, bacon & leek pie with a cream sauce. (daughter changed new potatoes to chips to go with her pie...not a problem) We will certainly return

Visited The Carpenters for lunch with friends and very impressed. Great service from all the staff and excellent food. The best Liver and Bacon in the area! Good timing, nice ambience. A cut above a lot of pub restaurants.

Had lunch at the pub yesterday, received a very warm welcome and sat next to a homely, crackling open fire. The starter looked small at first but it was perfect, so rich, filling and delicious, just perfect. The main was one of their famous pies, sitting in a pool of sauce that was so scrumptious it should be bottled! Very generous offerings of vegetables that we just couldn't manage dessert. Coffee was excellent and I couldn't ask for more in a bistro - can't wait to go again.

We had a lovely lunch for two at The carpenters Arms. We choose off of the normal menu which had several choices and of a good quality plus one special (fish which was exceptional) and everything seemed fresh and very tasty. Lovely warm Environment, big open fire, comfortable dining area. Just a couple of things would have pushed this up to a five star review- firstly the king prawn starter was just a bit so so - perfectly fine but that is all. Secondly, (in my humble opinion) a ‘gastropub’ should always make their own amazing chips (chips are soooo important ). Reasonable prices.Good service. We will return!!

Must be our 6th visit over the year covering work get-togethers; meals with close friends and this last time an annual family mealFood, as always really good value for money. The Veal Steak was amazing as was (again) the Lamb Shank – a consistent and quality option on the menu. Must be very popular! – both meats were perfectly cookedCredit to Carl (the Chef) for his style and choice of food offerings which varies and always has a good special boardRange of wines very good also the “G ‘n T” menu! On this occasion there was a mix up with the initial food order which had to then be re done, but Carl more than compensated for this oversight (which can happen in the best London Restaurants) and spent time with our table much later in the evening to check everything was okAs with any service industry, things do not always go according to plan, but it is how the proprietor / manager takes care of it – thank you Carl and your team for offering such good customer service and excellent food See you and your team (Jenny; Kelsey etc) soon

Great service but outside said last orders 2.30 pm we arrived at 2.15 to discover they stop cooking at 2.10. Had a cuppa though. Would have given more stars if actually able to get food. If times outside were clearer we wouldn’t have stopped and been disappointed …

Lovely surroundings and a really smashing roast dinner, puddings and drinks for a double birthday celebration. The staff and service are always great here but they outdid themselves this time - thanks for a really enjoyable afternoon 🙂
