Amazing meal here again with friends for a birthday, Woogies @ the Carew is delicious. The food and seafood is so fresh the wine delicious, but what really makes it shine (even above the food) is the service. The atmosphere and the team working there are great a proper family run feel where they can’t do enough. I thoroughly recommend supper there. Steak and wine night is something else!

Beware that the internet’s menu is different. A nice welcome and good atmosphere. There was a limited menu, compared to what we expected. The menu had 2 chocolate desserts and non of the others on the menu. It had no bread and a number of other items were not on. The fish was dry. The pasta was good. Pleasant service and attentive but just very disappointing as it was recommended.

Empty on a Saturday afternoon in half term is never a good sign, then we were told that there will be new owners imminently by the barmaid so probably should have read the signs. Children had chickens nuggets and chips that turned up with potato smiles which youngest didn’t like. Husband’s scampi was average. Surf and turf platter was inedible- pan fried scallops were stone cold (manager stated they were meant to be?!), ribs were all fat (excuse was that you can never tell with ribs if they’re good quality?) 2 prawns were ok, lamb skewer was cold and dry. Stated we would be happy to pay for drinks and first two meals but as we had eaten literally none of the platter we were not happy to pay but were told we could only have a 10% discount on the one meal as they were happy to cook us something else. Tried to explain that we literally didn’t want anything else as the food was terrible! The manager was dogged and wouldn’t move at all. Eventually just paid as little ones were upset and we just wanted to leave. Awful experience, such a shame was we’ve eaten there a few years ago under previous management and the food was wonderful. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Walking into an empty bar was not a good sign. Very unwelcoming person serving. Zero % Heineken was warm. Diet Pepsi on tap was flat and left a bad taste. We opted for cheesey chips to share. We asked for the cheese to melted through the chips. This was not done when presented to us. The chips were undercooked and the £5 charge was unacceptable for what we had. The overall experience was was poor and not to be repeated.

Quite possibly One of the worst meals I’ve ever had in my life - our starter was meant to be bbq ribs .. well they was microwaved chewy disgusting bits of slimy pork! The chicken burgers was just deep fat fried freezer food .. for £22 each burger I was expecting something better. Also asked for cheese in our burger and the chef said she doesn’t have time to prepare the cheese, what the hell does that mean 🤣 - only positive was the waitress she was lovely

Very expensive and not great. Small fish & chips. Fish smaller than a child's portion, 44 peas, 26 chips, old (slightly ammoniacal) cod, and gelatinous tasteless tartar sauce. Good points, the chips were hot. Would not recommen.

After reading good reviews was disappointed, had the pork belly at £17.50, pork was tasty but dauphenois potatoes were undercooked and the crackling tasted like it had been deep fried in oil long overdue a change. Other guests had more pork on the pork belly bite starter (while was lovely) than we did the main. Also had creme Brulee that was overcooked, taste was okay but texture was quite unpleasant. Finally two of our party were overcharged, appears the system failed to recognise they had the meal deal, this was swiftly rectified without issue, service was otherwise good

Personally left feeling very disappointed by my weary visit to the Carew Arms. We booked in advance for a large table and were only informed upon arrival about a large number of missing items on the menu meaning a few members of the group did not eat. The carvery was very dry and not enjoyed, while the battered fish had a poor aftertaste that made me uncomfortable to eat. The service also took roughly one hour to have food delivered from point of order which felt long considering the lacklustre output. Might be a one-off bad day in view of largely positive reviews, however unfortunately didnt hit the mark on this occasion

Where do I start. I had the set lunchtime menu yesterday. Mackerel pate to start and mini pie as mains. The Pate was fine, although topped with a good covering of Butter... Which I had to query as to what it was... The Mini Pie (miniscule pie) of lamb and mint. I literally found no more than 2 pieces of lamb, well cooked, over cooked. I complained initially to the barman about my food experience - who took at least 2 attempts to refer to the chef. Eventually I managed to get a face to face with both the chef and landlady? When I expressed my disappointment I was told in now terms of no payment but here's where I feel very distraught and unhappy " don't bother coming back" And I won't. And that's not why ladies and gentlemen the place is always EMPTY!!!

Not good food at all. My husband had the macaroni cheese and it was far too buttery/oily. Made him feel quite sick for quite some time afterwards. It also included the smallest side salad we’ve ever seen, consisting of 2 tiny lettuce leaves, 2 halved small cherry tomatoes and some cucumber. My fish and chips were just okay, which is a let down since it’s right by the coast, so would expect very fresh tasting fish. Service was friendly enough.

The total bill of £105 was simply not worth it! The poached eggs were so hard and like rubber, the toast was so hard couldn't even cut with a knife. Even though my daughter in law pre booked this and had asked if there was a vegan bfast and told yes, the girl serving said she didn't know if there was! After waiting 1hr 30 our bfasts finally arrived and what a disappointment. The two vegan bfast were hard toast a few mushrooms n a tomato no vegan spread no vegan milk available for coffee either. Got up the next morning went for a shower and it was scolding hot. Couldn't cool it down even if you turned another tap on. We didn't get there untill 2200 on the first night and there's was nothing to make a cup of tea or coffee. It would if been nice to off been able to do that after a long drive. Booked for our final Meal in Cornwall which coincided with a birthday. The food to be honest was all nice, however the service was far from good and in fact the worst I have experienced. Three times I had to go to the bar to ask for drink, empty plate to be removed and condiments to be brought. The final nail was when they brought the birthday cake we had taken, unfortunately the person who’s birthday it was had gone to the bathroom. When we said they were not there the reply was I hope the candle done burn out. They need either more staff, better trading or maybe staff who give a dam. Would never go near the place again. EDIT:- for the point of accuracy, yes the food was good and yes you did reduce the bill. At first offering a 15% discount which you thought was more than adequate. However the bill came to £102.00 not the £114.00 stated and I offered to pay half. To put this in context, what I paid would have more than covered your costs, why you feel you need to argue still, it was not just us, we all felt ( our table and the other two in the “function room as you call it “ ) all felt let down. But yet on all my visits to the bar the three staff working where always stud at or around the bar. With one of them stud talking to a couple at a table by the bar, while we were all looking at empty plates and glasses. No offer of pudding menu, and yes you did offer a drink, but we had had enough of sat looking at dirty plates and had booked a taxi to get out the place.

Missed our bus connection this morning and as a cold wind we went to the pub to see if we could get some tea - joy oh joy they were actually serving breakfast so tea, hot buttered toast and jam - marvellous. It was really great to feel so welcome and have such friendly hosts, they were extremely kind and even took us to the start of our walk as there were no buses for about two hours and frankly that saved our walk today. Would highly recommend.

Cannot fault any of the food. The fillet steak is so tasty. Loved the salad and chips too! Very clean and friendly service.

Lovely village pub, within a stones throw of the local beach. Didn't get to eat here but the food looked amazing.

Lovely place, whilst we waited for our food there was plenty around us to appreciate with pictures lining the walls! The all day breakfast was great, nice and hot and reasonably priced as is everything on the menu. Staff were very friendly, despite the online ordering and self-seating not requiring much interaction. Will definitely come back :)

Really good service and food and atmosphere, yes at a first glance the price may look a little bit more than you thought it would be but trust me it definitely is worth the money when you see the food and the portion sizes. Definitely recommended if your in Redruth or the area, only pick up if any and I can say this about 90% of places in Cornwall and that's the parking as you have to try and find somewhere on the main road.
