Classic cars & good food enjoyed to country music. The restaurant is well appointed & clean with hard working staff to please all customers. We only had a pot of tea for two mid morning but experienced plates of food passing our table en route to eager hungry people. Nicely presented & ample portions. We were there to look around the cars on display & our timing did not allow for us to be ready for a meal. Next time we will plan for breakfast. Not cheap but looks worth the money. Thank you for an interesting hour.

Called in here on a busy Sunday lunch time with a cheeky "any chance of a table?" even though we did not have a reservation. The young lady greeting guests was very polite and friendly telling us we could be accommodated but they would need the table free in an hour as they had a booking for it, fair enough.I ordered a steak sandwich and my partner a fish finger butty. Both arrived promptly, beautifully presented and with the most delicious chunky chips. The steak was tender and well cooked, the recipe has changed since my last visit and rather than being served with gravy its now in a Stilton sauce, a worthwhile improvement.Bill was under £30 and as promised we vacated the table in a timely manner. My many thanks to the lady for fitting us in and all the rest of the staff for such a great experience.

Recommended to us from friends. We decided to pay a visit as Holmfirth is one of our favourite places to visit. Proper working garage on classic cars as well as a cafe. There are a few classic cars on show as well as old style bikes. Cafe was decorated in vintage style with so many bikes on the ceiling. Lots to look at. Staff very friendly and dressed in Rockabilly dresses which I absolutely loved! Food was good. Lots of lovely home made cakes on offer as well. Prices reasonably priced. I was looking forward to visiting the vintage clothes shop on site but unfortunately due to covid they were forced to shut. Definitely a place to visit if your in the area. Was abit hard to find at first as it's in a mill tucked out of the way.

After visiting the Carding Shed for the first time this afternoon as a family of 3 I felt compelled to write a review. We booked online, which was easy to do and were very impressed with the both the service and food that we received. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady, called Anna, who made sure we had a highchair for our little one and was really lovely with her too. She advised us that as we had booked for 3pm we only had a minute to get an order in for hot food as it finishes at 3pm, luckily my husband had already looked at the menu online and so knew what he wanted and our order was taken promptly. The food was really nice and there was plenty of it, my husband said that the steak in the hot steak baguette was cooked to perfection! I had a lovely piece of Rolo cake, which was a decent size and clearly nice and fresh and I would also recommend the milkshakes. The Carding Shed is quirky and unique with some really interesting memorabilia to look at while you're there and I would recommend going if you haven't been before. We'll definitely be back. I also have to say that Anna made our visit really enjoyable with her friendly and professional service, she is a credit to the business I'm sure!

A truly different experience dating back to the 1940s which is reflected in the menu, the dress of the staff, the decoration along with old cars and memorabilia. They have a varied menu. Toilets were clean. The memorabilia was lovely. Again my boy was fascinated. Only downside was (would have been a 5 star if this hadn't have happened) we ordered two cakes to take out. One choc and on coconut sponge. The person who boxed these put BOTH in same box so the coconut went all over the choc, my little boy wouldn't eat his cake be cause of this, that was a waste of £4, would have been better if cakes were packed separately, again it's the little things that count)

Since moving premises this eatery has gone downhill both with service and quality of food. Diners used to be seated by staff but this has now changed to finding your own seat. This is fine on a normal day but when it’s busy it becomes a free for all where diners have to hover around tables where people appear to be finishing. Or you can run the risk of waiting on the very inadequate 2 seater sofa and having people ‘jumping the queue’ by just walking in at the right time and nabbing the next table.

As you go through into the garage where the cars are there is a Vintage Dress shop selling brand new clothes, shoes and jewelry for men and women. We found that although there were many seats available, they were for big groups and there we very few tables for couples and all were taken. We were told we could share and could have a table on that basis. The staff were frustrated by the lack of tables for two and we were not the only ones waiting for a small table. A family of four came in a sat down as we waited. On speaking with the manager, who was far from helpful but argumentative, we decided to take our custom elsewhere and visited ‘The Potting Shed’ at Silkstone and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. Regularly go to the oil can cafe and often take friends and family. It’s quirky and fun theme make it great to take friends from out of area as it’s more than just some food and cake. We go often just ourselves as we know we will always get great food, especially when there is so much to choose from even being gluten free. Finding gluten free food and cake is better nowa days however you are limited to usually one or two options and the cake is never homemade or particularly nice. The cake here is absolutely amazing, you wouldn’t even notice and there’s always at least 3 or 4 to choose from.

We visit here regularly and the food/service is always fantastic. My girlfriend is gluten free and this is by far the best place locally that supports this dietary requirement. The shop has a good arrange of items and the cars are a good added bonus.

Visited on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Staff were very attentive and helpful, although ordering was a bit slow at times. Food was well prepared and very tasty. I can recommend meat platter, which I shared with wifey. The place has a garage theme, with lots of old cars to look at. Hardest thing is finding it- def need sat nav, but worth the effort.

We booked afternoon tea for my mums birthday, the food was lovely! But what made it even better was the ladies who looked after us, I think one was called Janet and The other was Anna. Nothing was too much for them and they even bought out the cake I had made with candles on and sang happy birthday to my mum. They made her feel so very special. My daughter had a caramel latte and she said it is one of the best she has ever had! So well done to the staff there. The owners should be proud of having such amazing staff who have exceptional customer service skills.

We enjoyed our visit to the Carding Shed very much. An eclectic mix of vehicles on display and/or for sale will keep your interest for a considerable time. Pedal bikes hang from the roof ranging from antique to modern quirky bikes. There's lots of motoring memorabilia to look at. The workshops are interesting and you can observe vehicle restoration in progress. The staff are very pleasant and informative and they are all happy! Their retro boutique is well worth visiting as well. Next door is the Oil Can Cafe packed with loads of motoring memorabilia including of course oil cans from every era. The food is really good and waitresses smiley, friendly and efficient. Music from way back when is in the background everywhere you go. We spent several hours there and enjoyed every minute.

Originally a destination for a long shake-down trip after some work on a 40 year old car, and where better? Great atmosphere, staff really friendly, decor superb, lovely displays of older cars and motor-cycles, good fun and very good food indeed. We both had the all-day breakfast, and worth every penny, especially since all the meats and the eggs were obviously very fresh, and the source for all of them on a notice-board in case you wondered. I should imagine that, on a weekend when there are loads of classic car and motorcycle owners there, it must be really special. I have plans with other friends to go back, and am looking forward to it. Great for groups of blokes, couples, families and even a couple of old codgers!

This is the first time I have visited since the Carding Shed has moved to the new address. I must say that the building is much more suited to the Carding shed, it looks amazing, the cafe looks brilliant and the cars and workshops seem much better suited here but my god the views and setting are dreadful, the views from the last place were beautiful, this is my only negative (oh and that you cannot pay on card - which is a bit of a pain, we scrapped together just enough luckily)

We went for a drink and cake. We had visited in the old premises, but wanted too see the new place. The cafe is lovely, great cakes still , the dark hot chocolate was fantastic. We had a walk round the cars , motorbikes, the staff were lovely, and helpful. We plan on going back for afternoon tea, which looked lovely . The chocolate fudge cake, and chocolate brownie, are very nice, makes a change for things to taste of chocolate.

Visited the Carding Shed with my wife after seeing it on the TV show "Car SOS". It looked a unique type of establishment, combining good food, classic cars and vintage clothing sales - quite an eclectic mix, but works well.

A fantastic restaurant serving huge portions of extremely well cooked food. We sat eating breakfast listening to 50's and 60's music on the Juke box. The ladies were dressed in Lindy Bop dresses and the male waiters had shirts with vintage cars on them. We drank out of bone china mugs and cups. My husband had a Mechanics breakfast and I had Eggs Royale. The place is decorated with all things to do with a garage in the 50's and 60's. Old oil cans, car radiators, advertising boards, to name but a few things. Also on display were some Vintage cars. In another part of the building there are Classic cars, a shop selling Vintage clothes. Bric a Brac from that era was also on sale.Definitely a must for anyone with a passion for Vintage cars and a must for the ladies who adore Vintage clothes.

Came to the new place today and unless you're planning to expand I'll never come again . It used to be all about the cars but now with only a few cars on display it's as though the cafe is more important . Everyone used to come for the cars , the cafe was a bonus it's such a shame it's the other way around

Tasty desserts. Few car park spaces in front of the shop but obviously in a site that has 10+ tables three spots isn't really enough. Enjoyed our desserts even took some home. Would visit again
